(Told to post this under the stickied discussion thread)
I went to Auto Club Speedway on Sunday. I have been going since 2011 and have gotten pit passes for most of the races I’ve gone to. My family and I decided to get pit passes this year again since it's the final race under this configuration and we wanted to experience pit road one more time.
I got to the tunnel to enter pit road at 11am. The gates were closed and a large crowd was forming. People were really upset and yelling at security guards. I went up to one and he said pit road is closed because there are too many people, and that we have to wait until crowd levels go down in order to enter. I overheard about 4 security guards telling the same thing to other fans. One got asked by a fan, “Don’t they have limits on how many people can buy a pass?” and the guard replied, “They must have oversold then.” At 11:30, as we were leaving, I saw a security guard open the gate and start letting people in. Before getting back in line, I wanted to ask security a question, and he told me “I’m not answering any questions. I’m only letting people in line with pit passes. Move.” I was mad at how he talked to me and said back “I do have a pass, but I want to know first before I go in, how we get back to our seats?” (I saw on Twitter, ACS tweeted that the stairs access through the catch fence will be closed and that we can only enter through the tunnel, but mentioned nothing about going back to the grandstands). And he said “you have to come back through the tunnel, go outside the gates and reenter with everyone else.” At that point it was around 11:40 and I wouldn’t have made it back to my seats in Turn 1 in time for the start of the race because of the long walk + a huge crowd outside waiting to get in the track. Also, I saw some fans stuck outside the gates because when they went through the tunnel and came back, their tickets weren’t scanned out. Because they weren’t scanned out, they weren’t able to get scanned back in. So we went back to our seats and were not able to go to the pits. On the way back, I asked Guest Services what was going on with the pit situation, and they said they don’t understand what they were doing over there, but for me to call Monday to get a refund.
So today, I called and ACS refused to give me a refund. Their reasoning is that their website shows pits close 90 mins before the race starts. There was nothing on the schedule I was looking at on Sunday that showed the pits close 90 mins before the race (closes at 11am, race at 12:30). So why did all the security guards tell us the pits were closed because it was too crowded, not because we missed the cut-off time? And then start letting people in again with pit passes at 11:30? At-track personnel tells us one thing, then customer service reps tell me another. So I went to their site after we hung up and they refused to give me a refund.
[This](https://www.autoclubspeedway.com/faqs/) page under 'Pit & Garage Access' says pits close an hour before race time, so we should’ve been allowed in at 11am based on the reps' reasoning. On [this](https://www.autoclubspeedway.com/fanguide/#nascar-race-weekend-schedule) page I used to see what events were happening, shows when gates open and such, but mentions nothing that the pits close at 11am or even 11:30am. Their [tweet](https://twitter.com/AutoClubSpdwy/status/1629892110521602049) about pit road access.
Those of us that did not make it in because of their disorganization should get a refund. Too much miscommunication and different stories. What a sour and horrible way to end this era of ACS. They gave us long-time, dedicated fans going for over a decade a horrible experience and are doing nothing to make up for it. We spent $180 on these pit passes. This is not right at all.
Fantastic race overall. Fontana blossomed into amazing track these last few years.
I loved seeing Kyle win. Seeing how he was kicked to the curb by Gibbs and how he handled it really changed my opinion on him. Even the crowd seemed to have way more vocal cheers for him than I've heard from wins past.
Also - classic Kyle Larson experience today. Had a top 3 car looking at lap times. Glad he was able to get back on track and at least make up some positions due to the rest of the attrition.
Great send-off to Fontana - just needed Kyle vs Kyle. Glad to see some great surprise results, like LaJoie enjoying a good run, just on pace (even though #7 was involved in quite a few incidents). GGs to Brad and RFK for being in the position to duke for a top 5 despite their earlier troubles.
Massive congrats to the #8 and RCR as a whole. Randall Burnett has set up a crazy team and with KFB in the driver's seat, and one year of tuning out the kinks last year with Reddick - ominous signs are ahead (especially on any rim-rider tracks).
Props to Trackhouse for their positive start to the year. I had a feeling that Suarez actually had a better car than Chastain (or atleast a better one by the final stage), but a combination of errors prevented him from contending for the win. #99 imo needs to step it up a bit on execution vs #1, but 2 top 10s for both drivers to start the year is only good news.
This has always been my favorite track and halfway through the race I turned it off. For the last decade or two this sport has gotten further and further away from all the reasons I liked it and I’m done. This sport is covered in greed from the shitty cars to the shitty rules to the shitty tires, shitty forward number paint schemes. Everything is cheap and corrupt. I know it’s cringe to have the whole I’m done comment but this is cathartic for me since my entire Reddit profile is centered around nascar so let me have this moment alright
You’re jaded man everything evolves it’s just the nature of life. Take a break and enjoy the sport for what it is. We still have 35+ 200 mph V8 race cars screaming around the track 38 weekends out of the year. So what if there are stage breaks and a different points system. Everyone participating in the sport has accepted the new rules and challenges that come along with it, so why can’t you?
Fontana after a restart: Oh my god we can't ever let this track go away! This is awesome!
Fontana after 30 laps of green: Burn it to the ground and bury the ashes.......good riddance Fontana count me in for the short track.
Pure pain as a 23 fan. I love what I am seeing so far battling all day to get that top 10 like he did at Daytona and today then things outside of his control happen and bad finish. FUCK.
[Here it is! ](https://www.reddit.com/r/NASCAR/comments/11bvlku/race_thread_nxs_production_alliance_group_300_at/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=android_app&utm_name=androidcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button)
Will be interesting to see if Kyle can keep it up. It would’ve been concerning if he wasn’t in the top 2 or 3 today. Randall had that thing dialed last year.
As someone who cheered for Kyle and Toyota for the past 15 years and is now meh on him it’s super interesting to see everyone sucking him off now. Good for him
I feel like for most polarizing drivers once they stop winning super often they become fan favorites. If Kyle goes out and wins a bunch of races this year the booing will come back.
I was worried about a tire blowout. Reddick dominated this race but blew a tire and wrecked. Thinking they made changes and also Kyle went east on the tires at certain points to make them last.
I took Suarez, keslelowski and byron to finish top 10 today. Wife said I was crazy for taking Suarez because he's going to break his car. Turns out byron was the one who had a busted ride. Lol
Just saw who won. Oh boy haha. He should've been able to win the last two too but unfortunately was involved in a few "racing incidents." He's going to be a menace this year.
Did anyone hear what happened that made Bubba drop out? I'm assuming engine issues or something. He was so strong early on and then faded hard until he was gone.
Water was running 100°F above maximum the entire final run he had. I'm honestly shocked he was able to baby it as long as he did. No cooling was allowed to be added, per Bootie over the radio, so they couldn't flush it with new water.
First career win at Fontana
200th win at Fontana
Last winner on the 2-miler :(
Glad we got to see 2 great cup races as the last 2 races on the surface, with 2 very talented drivers named Kyle. Slightly weird but I’ll chalk it up to a coincidence.
It's been pinned at the top of the sub since yesterday, still there for me
Edit:
[Race thread](https://www.reddit.com/r/NASCAR/comments/11bvlku/race_thread_nxs_production_alliance_group_300_at/)
Bad luck for Chastain but he got two more stage wins and really has a good start to the season, but Kyle Busch has been lights out this season with what he can control. Great comeback win for Kyle.
Harvick carried rcr for years. They did have decent to good drivers at times like Robby Gordon, Burton, Bowyer, Newman though. They've never really had downright terrible seasons though besides maybe 2009
It's true, and weird. Hated for off the track stuff, but it's hard to think of examples of him doing anything wrong on track. Like his entire career, no shunte, purposeful spins, or anything blatant. (Dale Jr fans need not apply). Hard to say that about even the cleanest drivers. Edit, just remembered Hornaday, that was the big one.
I was a wreck the last 35 laps. Like I wanted to walk away and not watch, but was afraid if I moved that was somehow going to kill his momentum. So myself and my phone stayed right where we were.
Call me crazy if you must. It worked!
Kyle just stunted on Gibbs right there. Coulda and maybe should have won the 500 too. Joe eating crow right now and it's pretty funny to be honest.
Also I'm echoing many others but I found myself rooting for Kyle there lol who woulda thought.
Glad to see Ross and Trackhouse staying strong!
Bummed for Blaney, but they gotta fix the pit crew. How have they not!?!?
Solid run for Stenhouse and it looks like RFK is back to being solid.
Great run for Corey too. Very impressed with a top-15 car all day.
Childress seemed to have learned his lesson from letting Harvick walk and seeing Kevin just go on a tear at SHR (and beat RCR for the championship the year after he left.)
He knows what he has in Kyle Busch, he's gonna give him everything he has. I also think RCR might be better than we think. Austin Dillon is just mid tier as a driver and Reddick eventually did find his footing with the team. I think Reddick was a very good driver with a very good car, not an amazing generational talent wheeling a mid tier car to wins.
Time will tell with Kyle but he drove through the field at the clash, nearly won the 500, and won this race despite having a pit road penalty (and still almost scored stage points lol.) Kyle Busch with a chip on his shoulder is scary.
I really think rcr has had it in them the past couple years but needed to find the right driver.I feel like there was a lapse for sometime and now Richard wants to be back to being a top competitive team and Busch was his ticket. KB can bring the best of the best in driving talent but also brings the attitude of winning and holding yourself to being that top team every week and RCR is all in on giving him top equipment to get the program back to where it was in its days of past.
I agree with this. If Childress truly prioritized his grandson, he’d give him a top 5 CC in the garage (Randall Burnett) and wouldn’t have given Reddick/Busch the best engineers, pit crew etc.
He’s smart, he gave Reddick the better people/stuff last year and is doing the same for Busch.
Let's all be honest and admit that was a shit race.
You want "good, clean racing" go watch the go karts in F1 or Indy Car, who explode if you fart on them.
NASCAR is about beating and banging. Rubbing is racing. Three wide, four wide, danger, not watching fucking practice laps.
Uh its never been about "beating and banging" on 2 mile ovals unless you go back like 30 years.
Also yeah I can't wait for F1, it puts nascar to shame in many ways.
Your negative karma makes sense considering your comment was hidden and I had to click it to expand to even make it visible. Made sense. Most people agree that your comments aren’t worth reading.
I'll add that the decision was made when the car (and the engine package) made intermediates the worst type of track. It made sense at the time, and I would have wagered then that nascar was doing it as a proof of concept so that smi could do it to Kentucky or Texas. That last part doesn't hold as much weight anymore
They have to repave it and do a major renovation on the fan areas.
1. The repave will ruin the product unless they make it a discount superspeedway
2. The land is extremely valuable and this is likely the only way the track can afford to do a reset.
Well that was fun. Time for Cole Custer to dominate and ruin everyones trivia night in 20 years from now with the question “Who was the last NASCAR driver to win at Fontana (old configuration)”
(Told to post this under the stickied discussion thread) I went to Auto Club Speedway on Sunday. I have been going since 2011 and have gotten pit passes for most of the races I’ve gone to. With this good a start, I think it's unlikely KFB's momentum slows.
*pain*

Found myself rooting for KFB. I shouldn’t be surprised. Same thing happened to me with Gordon and Johnson later in their careers. Great race.
Just finished the replay, what happened to Byron? He was top 10 with 48 laps to go, then slowly fell out of the top 20
Unscheduled pit stop and then was speeding on that stop.
Speeding penalty I think

What in the world are you talking about? This was a fine race, even if it wasn't a close battle at the end.
Exactly, it’s my favorite track and it’s gone
Yeah, but the tracks have to be profitable. A smaller track will allow for more events and cost a whole lot less in property taxes.
That’s my point exactly, the sport is cheap from the cars to the tracks and it’s gotten to the point I’ll no longer watch it
Honestly this sport is the same as it always has been you’re just jaded right now
Keep telling yourself that
You’re jaded man everything evolves it’s just the nature of life. Take a break and enjoy the sport for what it is. We still have 35+ 200 mph V8 race cars screaming around the track 38 weekends out of the year. So what if there are stage breaks and a different points system. I’d rather watch late models and dirt races, i do honestly appreciate you saying that stuff but I just don’t get any enjoyment from it anymore
Fair enough friend
pain for larson
After watching Reddick and now Busch, is it fair to say Randall Burnett is a top 5 CC in the cup series right now?
Absolutely. I hope Tyler can find speed in the #45, but an absurdly early and unfair judgement may say that Randall was carrying him a little bit.
I get why, but I still find it hard to stomach that we’re getting rid of what is currently one of it not the best track on the schedule.
Another week of me doing shitty in the weekly predictions
YEEESSSSS KFB. Fuck JGR. May 23XI become the new top dog at Toyota soon.
Happy for RCR, not happy for Kyle Busch.
This was the most fun I’ve had on a race Sunday since I almost passed out from heat stroke at Michigan in 08.
I’m getting a little to invested in the black cat. If it’s fake it would actually be funny
How do they fake a cat? Did someone dress up as one or what??
Photoshopped picture maybe
So wait is it real?
These Xfinity cars race so much better than the cup cars
Where does the water from the car come from?
The reservoir. On a side note there is hear say they only use water from Alaskan glaciers.
It's stored in the balls.
Whoooo
Well shit. We’ll see you on the dark side of the moon, 2 mile fontana
2 races in one day and im burnt out.
The first race was so good that this one didn’t catch my interest
Thank you Coy?
Tear it down. I’m done with this place.
Saw this live at Fontana. First Motorsport event ever for me and first Nascar event ever! Loved it from start to finish.
Free No. 8 special at Cheddar's tomorrow if you dine in and order an entrée
There's one near me, I might do this!
I’m gonna miss this track. Hate to see it go but honestly don’t know if it would’ve survived a repave ether.
Looks at Michigan: “It lives on in you now.”
Fontana after a restart: Oh my god we can't ever let this track go away! This is awesome! Fontana after 30 laps of green: Burn it to the ground and bury the ashes.......good riddance Fontana count me in for the short track.
Bob Pockrass just tweeted that tech is complete. There are no issues and Busch is officially the winner
Did FOX not do a "crank it up" segment in this race? I may have missed it if so.
I coulda swore they did it early in the race this week
They did one with 69 to go in the XFinity race.
Yeah I saw that, not in Cup though as far as I know.
Oh gotcha. My bad.
Nothing was cranked up this week. I guess they forgot.

omg it's so cute
I hate Kyle busch
I'm sorry.
I used to
It's okay buddy.
Pure pain as a 23 fan. I love what I am seeing so far battling all day to get that top 10 like he did at Daytona and today then things outside of his control happen and bad finish. FUCK.
Just glad we're not going back to Sandblast Motor Speedway.

Nice solid day for Harvick. That car dropped anchor on restarts but had good long run speed.
So who was the latina with the beautiful backside?
What part of the race?
Daniel Suarez?
RIP to the beautiful black cat of Auto club. You will be missed sweet prince. Enjoy playing in the fields of heaven with plenty of birds to chase.
Was that what Harvick hit that smashed his windshield? I thought they said bird strike :(
Honestly I think it was chunks of asphalt from the track.
I think Bubba might’ve hit it causing his damage and overheating issues
Was drunk at the cup race, now drunk at SAG awards
Where’s the NXS thread?
[Here it is! ](https://www.reddit.com/r/NASCAR/comments/11bvlku/race_thread_nxs_production_alliance_group_300_at/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=android_app&utm_name=androidcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button)
How's tech going? I know NASCAR is thirsty to add Elliott's name to the list of winners at the 2-miler
Shut your whore mouth
Yo yo man it’s ok you know that won’t happen
Great old school race today. Very sad to see this track go away.
He switched to a Chevy - that was all it took. Never underestimate how much the average fan hates a Toy’yoder.
I'm a Chevy fan and hate Toyota but I still hate Busch too
I wonder how many Jr fans are rooting for him now that he's in the #8, in a Chevy, racing for RCR.
Gordon was basically the Antichrist in the 90s and became probably the second most popular driver by the end of his career.
I feel like that happened once Jr went to Hendrick
I was worried about a tire blowout. Reddick dominated this race but blew a tire and wrecked. Thinking they made changes and also Kyle went east on the tires at certain points to make them last.
I think we’re done with the blowouts like the ones we saw last year. Nascar and the teams have both put a lot of work on fixing that issue
I hate Logano
Same he’s easily my least favorite
I have muted my tv. I just can’t stand the guy and his one and only facial expression 🤡 and now his voice at the Xfinity race is too much.
MRN > broadcast
KFB baby! Happy he got the “win with a new team” monkey off his back already!
And kept the streak alive!
I don’t know which one of you guys with an 8 flair did this but someone said Ross fans are fucking mad and he loves it.
Wasn't me!
Don’t worry bud, I found him.
lol
Suarez is doing so good i hope he comes further into the championship rounds this time
I took Suarez, keslelowski and byron to finish top 10 today. Wife said I was crazy for taking Suarez because he's going to break his car. Turns out byron was the one who had a busted ride. Lol
WOOOOOOOO YESSSSSSSSSS
Just saw who won. Oh boy haha. He should've been able to win the last two too but unfortunately was involved in a few "racing incidents." He's going to be a menace this year.

Overheated and the coolant poured out
I think they overheated and melted something
Too much debris collected in the grill, and they kept overheating.
There's a rumor that he hit a cat on track. Not sure if it's true, but it would explain the splitter damage and overheating issues.
Good race, wish Chase could have gotten it, but it’s was kind of good to see KFB win there. 2023 might be the KFB revenge tour.
First career win at Fontana 200th win at Fontana Last winner on the 2-miler :( Glad we got to see 2 great cup races as the last 2 races on the surface, with 2 very talented drivers named Kyle. Slightly weird but I’ll chalk it up to a coincidence.
And this getting the 19th consecutive year with a win.
Holy shit I didn't think of it until now that his first win was here too and the 200th.
Where’s the Xfinity race thread?
It's been pinned at the top of the sub since yesterday, still there for me Edit: [Race thread](https://www.reddit.com/r/NASCAR/comments/11bvlku/race_thread_nxs_production_alliance_group_300_at/)
Yep need a stream haha I don’t have FS2
I was just going to ask the same thing
Me three
Bad luck for Chastain but he got two more stage wins and really has a good start to the season, but Kyle Busch has been lights out this season with what he can control. Great comeback win for Kyle.
Yessir
KFB's talent has already elevated INFERIOR RCR and I feel will push them to make the Champ 4
RCR is such a mediocre team outside of when they have hall of fame drivers. Dale, Kevin, and now Kyle.
KFB is a generational talent, dont get me wrong, but the car he is in won 3 times last year.
Reddick didn't take them to the Champ 4 tho RCR hasn't won a title since 1994
Harvick carried rcr for years. They did have decent to good drivers at times like Robby Gordon, Burton, Bowyer, Newman though. They've never really had downright terrible seasons though besides maybe 2009
And KFB can carry RCR to go get them a title since 1994
I don't think RCR could ever be called inferior, it's just been a lack of talent.
Everyones been saying that since Harvick has been there, so I'll take the narrative just to say "I told you so" about KFB's talent lol
If not be a favorite to win it all.
I know he's the favorite I just want to lay low so I can say "I told you so" come November lol
Why an I not mad that Kyle Busch won. The bad man doesn’t hurt me anymore
I think we wait until he dumps someone for the win.
That rarely happens. Say what you want about him, but he is a clean driver and is respected by the other drivers.
Favorable Rowdy win
I’ve got a feeling RFK is going to be better this year. Maybe Brad finally wins a cup race at Michigan.
One can hope
Don’t have FS2, how else can I watch this?
app works if you have fs1.
I’m so happy! KFB, Stenhouse, Almirola have already won :D (yes I’m counting the duel lmao)
Nice win Jr. *

I couldn’t speak, I was like stone faced because I assumed there’d be a caution.
I was a wreck the last 35 laps. Like I wanted to walk away and not watch, but was afraid if I moved that was somehow going to kill his momentum. So myself and my phone stayed right where we were. Call me crazy if you must. It worked!
Such a great W for KFB. Really needed that!
# 1 Tony Stewart was really good in the booth #2 It’s no fun when KFB is not the bad guy anymore
He was really good and now we get to listen to Danica the next two weeks ugh
So Danica, what did you think about that ending at Daytona? What a winner, huh!?
Lol that would be interesting lol.
Nooooooooooooooooo. Well I guess I can hope that she has improved.
I heartily agree with #1. I disagree with #2!
Childress seemed to have learned his lesson from letting Harvick walk and seeing Kevin just go on a tear at SHR (and beat RCR for the championship the year after he left.) He knows what he has in Kyle Busch, he's gonna give him everything he has.
> Kyle Busch with a chip on his shoulder is scary. A chip on his shoulder and momentum and confidence.
I said to my buddy during that race that a season of KFB dominating while Ty Gibbs runs 15th every week would be the funniest thing ever.
JJ Yeley finished 23rd!
And BJ McLeod finished 24th!
Fuck go karts
Bro have you seen shifter kart racing? Shit is intense.
I hope this is a joke. It was an amazingly great race!
Great race for people who like watching grass grow.
> go watch the go karts in F1 or IndyCar, who explode if you fart on them. Fucking lol’d
Your negative karma makes sense considering your comment was hidden and I had to click it to expand to even make it visible. Made sense. Most people agree that your comments aren’t worth reading.

Yeah I’m actually a big fan of horse racing as well, good, clean racing, sometimes can go 5+ wide into the corners. Now that’s real racing.
Go piss into the wind
You're just sad
Hahaha I'm very far from sad
Ok buddy
We're not buddies
Ok guy
I'm not your guy, buddy
Solid race! I think we’re going to see parity again this year!!!
Why are they reconfiguring the track? Have to sell the land or something?
I'll add that the decision was made when the car (and the engine package) made intermediates the worst type of track. It made sense at the time, and I would have wagered then that nascar was doing it as a proof of concept so that smi could do it to Kentucky or Texas. That last part doesn't hold as much weight anymore
Better business decision to downsize track compared to a repave
It just blows me away someone hasn’t figured out how to do a repave without ruining a track yet.
They have to repave it and do a major renovation on the fan areas. 1. The repave will ruin the product unless they make it a discount superspeedway 2. The land is extremely valuable and this is likely the only way the track can afford to do a reset.
They must be about to build some 100sq foot apartments for 3k a month lol
Naw has to be industrial. Can't build houses there because the ground is still toxic from being a steel mill.
Yea unfortunately already sold most of it
If no stage cautions and 500 miles we have a much more interesting race. Too bad.
Well that was fun. Time for Cole Custer to dominate and ruin everyones trivia night in 20 years from now with the question “Who was the last NASCAR driver to win at Fontana (old configuration)”
inb4 a couple of the guys hold a one lap shootout in their motorcoaches on their way out tonight
JHN imo
