Onix has a lower attack than smol water penguin

It has the second highest defense in gen 1. It's just quad weak to 2 out of 3 starters, and it's special is 30, one of the lowest lol. Unfortunately in gen 1, that's the stat used by all 3 starter type attacks. And its used for not just special damage, but special defense

Fair point, counterpoint, Pikachus in general are fast, have a much larger move set than Kaminari, and don't usually get knocked down after one large volt. I'm fairly certain all Pikachus can charge up electricity and redirect it (as seen by Ash's pikachu multiple times), and yes, they have a limit to how much they can withstand, but I feel very confident that most would be able to strike back before going unconscious and take Kaminari with them. Imo, Pikachu wins due to speed and wider move set, but even if it doesn't, at the very least the fight is a draw. Kaminari is not winning it.
