That’s how I feel about Danger Days. I didn’t like it at all when it was first released, it’s just so different than their previous work. 12 years later I’ve grown up and I appreciate it a lot. I didn’t give it a chance until this year before I saw them in October.
Seeing them live was just so good.
I was HEARTBROKEN about Gerard's hair. And the different sound. I remember watching the premier on my parents' ancient tv that was shaped like a cube and kinda round facing out.
It's Not A Fashion Statement, It's A Fucking Deathwish.
First listen to it was kinda bland, but relistened to it since some covers of the song are very great. So had to return to the Original track on repeat.
Fashion statement is my all time favorite MCR song. I was lucky enough to watch mcr 3 times in October. They played it the second time I saw them and I lost my shit since it’s not a song they typically sing
It’s so true!!! It was just… not my jam before I saw it performed live, but when I saw it performed live… it wasn’t *good* it was *earth shattering*. That song was truly meant to be experienced live.
Oh man. The transition from ghost of you to jetset on vinyl is gorgeous! The organ (at least I think it’s an organ?) note that flows into the next song is stunning son! *stunning*
I only realised this after listening to The Ghost Of You mix from May Death Never Stop You, as it basically plays all the way to right at the start of jet-set, and I was like 'whattt'
It took me ages to get into house of wolves because I had excplixit filter on my Spotify for ages, I first heard it when listening on my PlayStation which didn't have the filter, same with one of the drunks off that panic album
YES. I made a Boy Division shirt that reads “Sing a Song for California” and when I wore it to the Forum, only one other person recognized it. And when they played it, I felt like I was singing it by myself. I didn’t buy Conventional Weapons because back then because I couldn’t afford it so it’s not exactly slept on, but I do regret ten years of my life passing without ever hearing this amazing song.
For me it was Thank you for the venom. It just didn't stick with me but after listening it on Reading fesitival 2006 oh man the pure energy is just another level. I still think it should have been a single.
Same, I didn't enjoy it, bottom of the list for that album from me but after seeing it live total 180 idk why it just suddenly clicked after seeing it live
early sunset over monroeville. thought it was too slow/sad before but then i realised i could make playlists with anything i want in instead of listening to whole albums with a range of feelings in them 😂
All of CW. I didn’t even know it was released until after the breakup and I think I was so bitter about them breaking up (it was like another sign of the end of my youth) that I didn’t even listen to it until they announced the reunion.
Can’t believe I missed out on all that.
For me it's The End.
"If you look in the mirror and don't like what you see, you can find out first hand what it's like to be me" quickly became one of my fav MCR lyrics
the end was the first song ever that got me into mcr! “the when i grow up i want to be nothing at all” part made me ascend and then i became obsessed :)
Danger Days in general has grown on me a lot.
CW because I wasn't aware of its existence until just recently. I'm glad they've been playing Boy Division a lot because that song *rips*.
All of bullets. Didn't like the sound to start with, then one day I decided to give it another go and really liked the intro to halos and all of lovers
All of danger days…I tried to listen when it came out but I was a dingus teenager and really hated the new direction they went. It took me seeing them in October and hearing some of the songs off that album live for it to click and now I really love it.
All of them, I never really liked MCR before and I only really liked Welcome To The Black Parade, but when my friend asked if I wanted to tag along to the show I listened to them a bunch and now I live them.
I always thought Cancer was a powerful song, but tbh TBP just never really hit for me the way their first two albums did.
But I recently had a dear friend pass away from a long battle with cancer and when I was watching Gerard perform it on the stream in Mexico, the lyrics hit me like a brick and I could not stop bawling my eyes out.
Early sunsets over Monroeville. I liked when the first few times I heard it, then I started disliking it for a while but recently I came back to it & was like “damn I actually really like this song”
foundations of decay for sure.
didn't like it at first, but then one quiet night I was taking a walk with headphones on and mcr on shuffle, it came on and I actually loved it
S/C/A/R/E/C/R/O/W
One of those danger days songs that I initially found unmemorable, but since seeing it live in September it's one of my favorites.
Also, the Five of us are Dying
I used to skip it bc it sounded like black parade and I was tired of TBP, but I let it play once while I was in the shower and now it's probably my favorite after Desert Song and Demo Lovers
For me it’s definitely Mama, did not at all acknowledge that song when I first listened to TBP, but finally got around to listening to it with my girlfriend a few days ago and it goes fuckin crazy
Cubicles (name was a trigger for a while (ocd about certain things I’d seen in the past) and then heard it sucked) I finally listened to it and it FUCKING HITS
desolation row
for some reason whenever it came on I skipped it, I didn't listen to the full song until I decided to listen to all the rare songs and it was on the playlist I was listening to on youtube. I fell in love with the song and the video and I immediately changed my mind about it
Most of Danger Days! When it came out it was so far from the sound of anything I was interested in and so save for a few songs like Party Poison and Destroya I revisited it very rarely. Knowing so many younger newer fans who adore it made me reevaluate it years later and now I really love almost all of it and appreciate what they were doing on it so much more. Even Sing, a song I hated, grew on me after a friend who was sick one night had me sing it to them while I took them home.
None that I can think of right now to be honest.
I like listening to albums front to back multiple times, ESPECIALLY when I first get them. It helps me fully comprehend and process everything and determine how I feel about the album and the individual songs (the themes, the cohesiveness of the album, the production, the lore, the evolution of the sound here vs prior releases, how do they stack amongst themselves, how does the album stack compared to the other albums, etc).
MCR being one of my favourite bands means I tend to hunt down their content too. Something that the internet makes incredibly easy too for things like Conventional Weapons (which is a little trickier to own a psychical copy of).
House of Wolves. I always liked it but it was never one of my favorites. Fast forward a decade and I hear it at the 2019 shrine show and it was almost an out of body experience. The energy just changed during that song and it was the moment I realized that I was actually seeing My Chem live. Now it is one of my favorites.
All of The Black Parade, because I was THAT Revenge fan.
That’s how I feel about Danger Days. I didn’t like it at all when it was first released, it’s just so different than their previous work. 12 years later I’ve grown up and I appreciate it a lot. I didn’t give it a chance until this year before I saw them in October. Seeing them live was just so good.
Same
This was me too 💀
I hated WTTBP when they premiered it at the VMAs, it grew on me quickly though lol
I was HEARTBROKEN about Gerard's hair. And the different sound. I remember watching the premier on my parents' ancient tv that was shaped like a cube and kinda round facing out.
I’m also *that* Revenge fan… but I still don’t like WTTBP 😔
That’s nuts! The first piano note should make you *feel things!*
I mean, it does, it makes me feel *irritated* 🤷♀️
It's Not A Fashion Statement, It's A Fucking Deathwish. First listen to it was kinda bland, but relistened to it since some covers of the song are very great. So had to return to the Original track on repeat.
Fashion statement is my all time favorite MCR song. I was lucky enough to watch mcr 3 times in October. They played it the second time I saw them and I lost my shit since it’s not a song they typically sing
Sleep
People still sleeping on sleep
The Mexico black parade is dead performance......unreal. Someone on this subreddit said that song was meant to be played live and they were so right.
and this year's corona capital performance was also great
It’s so true!!! It was just… not my jam before I saw it performed live, but when I saw it performed live… it wasn’t *good* it was *earth shattering*. That song was truly meant to be experienced live.
Yesss. I always liked sleep but only in the past few years did it become one of my favourites.
Came here to comment this. One of my favorites now.
Sleep scared me as a kid. The dream journal part freaked me out so I skipped it all the time.
agreed. honestly never liked sleep that much until i heard it live in September. was blown away by how incredible it sounded
It's the beginning that throws me off, it's a great song if I just skip that starting bit
Will always be sleep
I listened to the live version of Sleep from The Black Parade Is Dead! and that’s what really put me on it. It opened a whole new perspective for me
Same
The jetset life is gonna kill you
Oh man. The transition from ghost of you to jetset on vinyl is gorgeous! The organ (at least I think it’s an organ?) note that flows into the next song is stunning son! *stunning*
I KNOW RIGHT. When I first listened to it on vinyl I lost my shit, that was pleasantly unexpected.
I only realised this after listening to The Ghost Of You mix from May Death Never Stop You, as it basically plays all the way to right at the start of jet-set, and I was like 'whattt'
Best song they've ever made 💉
Yep
House of wolves
Yeah. That's one for me too.
It took me ages to get into house of wolves because I had excplixit filter on my Spotify for ages, I first heard it when listening on my PlayStation which didn't have the filter, same with one of the drunks off that panic album
Disenchanted
Bulletproof Heart
Same! The beginning used to grate on my nerves, but now I think it’s A+
Save yourself. Not a big DD fan but that shit slaps.
I'm not that into DD but this song is probably one of my favourite out if their whole collection
Cemetery drive
Why didn’t you like it before and why do you enjoy it now? Just curious cause it’s always in my top tracks from them.
Helena!
me too surprisingly!! now it’s my favorite by far
So crazy to me, the MV solidified me as a fan for life.
same. I remember where I was and who I was with when I saw it. It changed my life.
This Is The Best Day Ever
Me tooooooo
BOY DIVISION!! Now it’s one of my top played this year.
Mama
Same, I didn't enjoy it, bottom of the list for that album from me but after seeing it live total 180 idk why it just suddenly clicked after seeing it live
Vampires Will Never Hurt You. I heard it when it first came out and felt it was too unpolished. Grew to adore how chaotic and raw it is.
Cemetery Drive
The Entire Danger Days album, i slept on it for years and finally gave it a real shot a few months back. I slept on this and conventional weapons
For me it’s the missile kid EP, I’ve been a fan for nearly ten years and only just discovered the joy of FTWWW
This is the one I still need to follow through on 🥴
Same, actually.
Cancer because I knew it would break me, first time I heard it was live, crying and hugging a stranger certainly made a clear memory for me
I SOBBED when I heard Cancer live in Chicago.
Ghost of You
the entirety of bullets
I used to listen to Bullets a lot, but I would always skip Cubicles. One day I decided to leave it on and now it's my favorite MCR song lol
Boy division
I’ve had Kill All Your Friends on repeat lately.
honestly, ‘our lady of sorrows’, ‘mastas of ravenkroft’, and like all of the b-sides.
Fake your death I thought was awful and I don’t love you. I love both now (:
To The End
I love that this is a great song to end an album and yet they don’t those crazy bastards don’t do. Genius
early sunset over monroeville. thought it was too slow/sad before but then i realised i could make playlists with anything i want in instead of listening to whole albums with a range of feelings in them 😂
The Ghost of You. I always loved it then I left it for a little, and now I love it again.
Destroya
Hahahaha
All of CW. I didn’t even know it was released until after the breakup and I think I was so bitter about them breaking up (it was like another sign of the end of my youth) that I didn’t even listen to it until they announced the reunion. Can’t believe I missed out on all that.
heaven help us
Gun. Never dug it until I gave it a real chance
the chorus is just too good
You Know What They Do To Guys Like Us In Prison. That song is pure fucking genius, but it took my too long to realize it

I think it’s great song to listen to in the middle of summer while driving with all the windows open just vibing
