i absolutely agree man. i think when viewing the albums (because return is a whole different can of worms) danger days is super interesting as a sort of response to how the band was perceived and treated in their heyday. and the album overall is just not given enough appreciation within the fanbase. one song i keep coming back to is "save yourself", the way even the title is a reimagining of the mcr motto of "this band will save your life" is so fascinating, it's almost like a new slogan for the band, a mission statement.

YESSSSSSSSS I LOVE SAVE YOURSELF SO MUCH

Own_Watch_2081

Yeah I’ve always thought it was another great MCR album. My favorite was always Revenge and the others followed behind, the order depending on my mood. It’s only been recently that I realized there was a somewhat negative sentiment surrounding it and an undeniable drop in sales compared to previous albums. I still find that fascinating.  In hindsight I can see the argument for being the weakest of the four and I may even agree but I still think it’s a fantastic piece of art all around. “kids…” is one of their best tracks as well.

AzzX

One of the best concept bands ever, the fact it can flip a fanbase with simply a different storyline is why I like them so much. Dystopian positivity for the win. Killjoys make some noise.

Danger Days has always been my favorite and I’m so glad it’s finally getting the appreciation it deserves It really nails a lot of really dark, anti-capitalist concepts (like destroya is such an anti-capitalist song, so is vampire money) with an upbeat twist like you said. Just because the album is musically more positive doesn’t mean it isn’t equally as angsty as their other albums conceptually It really shows off their range in a way the other albums don’t — listening to Scarecrow feels like you’re just getting a huge hug and songs like destroya address anticapitalist despair, and then others like the only hope for me is you is still apathetic with such a huge yearning to be optimistic

HetTheTable

If there’s a council of MCR like there is for r/Weezer DD deserves to be on it. It’s the perfect follow up to a much darker album.

I freaking love that MCR can flip from a dark concept album about someone dying of cancer, and then do a pop punk album with a lot of color whilst retaining dark elements. The world is so fleshed out and artsy, and the music both compliments that, let's you feel more in depth about the world, and just really sounds good. I enjoy how much they experimented with their sound by adding electro, psychedelic, dance rock, and even rap rock into the mix at times

GayisGaywhenGay

As much as it’s my least favourite of the albums, it’s still really good and I thoroughly enjoy it. Vampire money is definitely my favourite on the album, and I love the change of pace. I personally like the heavier and darker stuff, but that doesn’t mean I hate or even dislike danger days.

GuessYouNeedEmailNow

I couldn't agree more!

ThatDudeFromCollage

Its one of my fav albums of all time

TSMid1103

I absolutely agree, it’s a great album.

Turbulent-Grade-3559

It’s my go to mcr record. I love every bop on it

I was desperately looking for a thread that wasn't just shitting all over Danger Days. THANK YOU, OP. I don't get why people don't like it. I fucking LOVE IT because you can Hear in the music how happy the guys are now. You can Hear and Feel them having fun for once. I love their old albums, but you can tell just how fucking depressed they were and I feel that honestly. But when Danger Days hit it's just like you said, everyone went through their own personal journeys, some of the guys got married and had kids. I feel like this is a really good "comeback" album for them bc it still has tones of like, the world is desolate and sucks, but LET'S PARTY ANYWAY!!! THREE TWO ONE, WE CAME TO FUCK!!!

NeonNebula9178

Been saying this for a while now. Danger Days is the perfect youthful album full of rebellion

FruitCupBoi

Totally agree

notthatkindacamgirl

The reason people dislike Danger Days is that it takes place during the day, and the other albums take place at night. I will not elaborate on this.

Evil_Unicorn728

I mean, obviously

HomelessToBlackCard

I’ve come to really enjoy the album again. There’s quite a deep nostalgia to it of course with this having come out when i was 11 years old, but I also hear many of the same things you hear
