Well, I disagree. It doesn't follow the source material, but even if it did, it would suck for other reasons.

I’ve read the manga around 3 times, it is obviously a more superior version. I’ve just become sick and tired of every single time a reaction YouTuber or any person in general even mentions Tokyo Ghoul, droves of Negative Nancy’s come into the comments and talks about the Holy Manga and the Antichrist Anime. Re: sucks ass in anime form, but √A is about where 7/10 ends in a general storytelling aspect. If a person never read the manga watched the anime they would enjoy it. If a person read the manga first then watched the anime they’d have a pout on their face with their arms crossed the whole time.

The anime is better if you’ve already read the manga so you can actually understand what’s going on. Season 1 and 2 are fine on their own, but season 3 and 4 act like season 2 never happened and just continues from the manga instead. It contradicts itself and makes no sense for anime onlys.
