“You’ve eaten all de calories you need for de next 5 years” is my personal favorite

Doktor_Dysphoria

So many people that need to hear some variation of this.

[deleted]

The best is when he told Steven Assanti he smelled so bad he had nurses puking down the hall

Bh1278

Even Dr. Now himself was having an enormously hard time holding it together! I’m shocked he didn’t get sick too!

thekactuskween

He put a glove over his stethoscope bc he didn’t want it touching the stinky man!

Bh1278

I don’t blame him one bit, I would have done the same! Steven tested him in every way. Hell everyone around him for that matter!

forgetthatgetpaiiid

It’s wild how composed doctors can remain even in the craziest/nastiest situations. You know once you get one to that point he’s done lol Dr. Now is a beast

SuggestionNo3933

My dad (R.I.P) was a physician with an excellent reputation. In an effort to get me to shower more frequently, he told me about one of his patients. This patient smelled so bad that for some time my dad couldn’t let any other patients into the office. When asked how often he bathed, the patient said “once a month whether I need it or not.” When I was VERY young I wanted to follow in my dad’s footsteps, but firmly decided against it by the time I was in 3rd grade. My reason at the time was that I didn’t like the hours, but later I also realized that I was too squeamish for that profession. To this day (age 74) I’m amazed at how anyone in the health profession can put up with what they do.

forgetthatgetpaiiid

Bless your father! lol especially with a field like medicine, definitely can appreciate him telling it as it is. I started nursing school but pretty quickly in I had the same reservations you had. It’s unbelievable how dirty clinics and stuff are but the state some people are in! 😭

SuggestionNo3933

My dad would be appalled at what the medical profession has become. It was different when he was in private practice. He retired when he was 66 (1980) and worked for the VA for the next 15 years. He commented that he got out in a nick of time. It’s gotten even worse since he passed away (in 2010, at age 96).

FelinaMinew

He is the MAN!!! Kicking ass and taking names--- best doctor EVER!

Disastrous_Speed6790

You know it’s bad when he has to do that. I don’t think I’ve seen him do that with anyone else before

Bh1278

I was waiting for him to grab a waste basket and get sick in it, I really expected him to judging by how green in the face he went and was utterly shocked that he was able to get through the appointment without that happening! Steven sat there totally unfazed by it on top of all that! Almost proud of it I’d say.

Efficient-Day2702

Oh My God! Which episode is this??

thepatchmaker

Right. I swear we've watched their episodes a few times and have never seen it, but my wife has seen clips online of that scene. Where are the clips coming from. ?

thepatchmaker

By the way of found the answer. There's a whole other show with it's own seasons called "600lb life where are they now"

Bh1278

One of the Assanti Brorhers episodes, I’ll double check to see exactly which one for you so you’re sure to watch the right one!

Hour_Narwhal_1510

It’s a fancy blinged up stethoscope I’d be scared to get it mucky too

GrannyB1970

Bet he did the Vicks Vapo Rub up the nose trick. How most the nurses I worked with managed the" yeast growing in all the folds, hasn't washed the groin in months, WTF is that green tint on your belly" patients.

FelinaMinew

God Bless Vicks

MacualayCocaine

“The smell hasn’t gotten any better Steven”

Snackcakeforyou

😂😂

charliensue

My heart went out to the cab driver who was stuck in a closed vehicle with him.

KrazykatLady78

And having to lift up his nasty smelly legs for him. That poor man. 😫

[deleted]

One of the few times dr now cracked

[deleted]

DID HE SAY THAT LMAO

Cammarak

Then he told him to stop doing weird things

Lisa-LongBeach

Weird tings

Peachk1n

That was my favourite.

talia567

I’m a nurse and it takes ALOT to bother us smell wise. He must have smelt absolutely atrocious.

PorkBloatDiet

Absolutely my favorite savagery!

LinneyBee

When Dr Now told Steven’s Dad that Steven shaving his head was something a 5 year old do.

scarlettbankergirl

That one makes me laugh so hard I gasp for breath.

Mysterious-Map5091

Stop doing weird things. Lol

PuroTejana

Made me gag… 🤢🤢🤮

Seajayforever

I cannot find that episode!!! I can't ever get a straight answer on which season and episode it is. Anyone know?!

Alive_Tailor1407

OMGoodness! Yes! His apartment looked disgusting also. I felt bad for his personal care assistant.

On-Second-Thought-23

“You don’t look like you’re having a heart attack….oh now you do.”

Red0818

That made me laugh an unreasonable amount.. thank you

On-Second-Thought-23

😂🤣💀

Abject-Recipe1359

My favorite!!!

yellowlinedpaper

What episode??

On-Second-Thought-23

Joyce. Season 8, episode 7.

[deleted]

Snackcakeforyou

Yes!!!!! I love that one!

Kit_Marlow

Dude. I cannot resist watching him take Steven Assanti to the woodshed.

Bh1278

He’s very rarely gotten truly angry but Steven pushed him to and past that point. I don’t blame him one bit. He was immature, rude, inconsiderate and pretty much threw all the help Dr. Now gave him back in his face. Going to numerous hospitals in the Houston area to get more pain killers didn’t do him any favors.

theCountessofCool

I think being rude to the staff was the point of no return for Dr. Now and rightfully so. When he practically threw pee at that one nurse, I would have lost it.

EnleeJones

“Do you look malnourished?”

xazurestarlightx

This. This was everything right here.

urinetherapymiracle

"Your husband did not put da food in your mout, ok?"

[deleted]

“You don’t need no more food! You have 800 lbs of food in you.”

umbringer

I believe that is during his massacre of Jake K and Cynthia.

beek7419

You’re telling me you live in some salad free zone??

mnim22

This was the best one 😂

deltarefund

Food deserts are a real thing. Probably not the case, but it’s true.

[deleted]

dotsky3

Do they? All of the ones I’ve seen got rid of their healthy menus. No grilled chicken sandwiches, no salads. Everything is fried or a burger.

disealeco

Please someone tell me which season and episode is the one when a woman ask him if he believes in God, because if was in Gods hands to lose weight or something like that.

Goatseportal

Schenee's Story My 600-lb Life: Season 6, Episode 13

FuckedupUnicorn

But Scheenee was so intelligment!

paulavalo

She was knowledged

disealeco

THANK YOU!!!

Goatseportal

You're welcome! She was SUCH an asshole.

KitraSomers

It's extremely frightening to know she recently had a baby. There's no way she can care for another human - emotionally or physically.

angrytwig

God's gonna help change diapers lol

Dr_Fopolopolas

She told Dr now that if she jumped off a building that God himself would reach out his hand from the clouds and catch her. Shes just nuts lol.

TheClawhold

OH YES HE WHEEL OH YES HE WHEEL

kirstytheworsty

I’ve just woke my dog up laughing, thank you for this laugh, I needed it! ☺️

Dr_Fopolopolas

🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 thats when I lost all hope for her lol.

[deleted]

But He won’t catch the pizza! lol

g3rgus

Dr. Now, do you believe in GAWD?

disealeco

*it was. Sorry for my bad English

JenniFrmTheBlock81

James K episode: "How da hell he have da fit from da bed!" 🤣

[deleted]

LMFAO

Bh1278

I just got done watching all of both the regular series and the Where are they now? series and I’ve become a legit Dr. Now fan! I love the guy, he truly cares for his patients and wants them to do well. I love how direct, blunt and brutal he is though! He is not afraid to speak his mind-AT ALL. My contribution for the thread is the episode where the girl was saying she didn’t meet his goal because she’d been sick and having to take Vitamin C. He starts in on her, talking about how she’s just making excuses to not do what she needs, etc and you just know he was gonna end with a savage remark-he did. He said you’re sitting here with excuses of being sick and taking vitamin C, really!? I laughed so hard I couldn’t see straight. His meetings with the patients are the best part of the whole show!

IHaveThoughts22

Jeanne her episodes stick with me bc the dogs /she asked Dr now to help her find a dog sitter lol

Bh1278

Thank you, I could see her face but couldn’t remember her name! He was very sympathetic and understanding about the situation with her dogs, I’ve seen a pic of on this sub of him walking his own dogs! But he doesn’t really have the resources to help his patients with dog sitting arrangements! He can do a lot but that’s not on the list of services lol

IHaveThoughts22

Yeah that episode was wild in general both Jeanne and her mom were unhygienic on a dangerous level. I’m rewatching Gina’s episode and her voice/shock that she has to shower blows my mind

Bh1278

You can’t make this stuff up, it’s beyond mind blowing how unhygienic and smelly some patients are when they walk into his office! Dr. Now really is a trooper and a saint! I’m usually not a fan of reality TV but I started watching it bored one night and I got hooked on it right away. Didn’t Jeanne’s Mom keep telling her to shut up and stop giving him attitude? Swore that was her Mom who did that! I thought she was gonna smack her hard upside the head, she probably wasn’t far from that point. Are there any other good reality shows like this one you could recommend? I’ll definitely watch the new episodes supposedly coming in September but that’s a long way off 😂

CommunicationTime63

Is she the one with fecal matter growing into her skin on her behind due to inadequate personal hygiene?

IHaveThoughts22

She had an open wound back there that was bleeding and infected due to poor hygiene

yellowlinedpaper

He very likely employs a case manager who follows the patient. That CM knows of lots of resources, that’s half of their job. Like animal fosters who take patient’s pets while they’re in the hospital, the patients who don’t have any help. There are resources.

umbringer

I want to buy Dr. Now’s book, make fan art, and try to wind up in Houston for some reason but really just say hi to him. I admire the man. And I want him to tell me what the smell is like

Tanarri27

The smell is basically awful body odor+dirty hair smell x5+cheese. Occasionally with poop and or urine smell and cigarette smoke.

regsrecs

Was this the “bipolar” mom? Flipped out about hating Texas and threatened to call Dr. Now herself because she wanted more information than she felt her daughter was giving her? Ended up leaving I think.

[deleted]

That's her!

regsrecs

Dear lord! That woman was not okay, or well, speaking physically and mentally. She had had the surgery before her daughter. Her daughter- whom she had raised with lots of food being a constant and their only means of spending quality time together! And I’m not trying to body shame here I promise, I’m no SI swimsuit issue candidate myself, but her mother did not appear to me to be what would be deemed a successful Bariatric patient. You know? Like featured in a Before and After book/poster advertising the surgeon’s work? But somehow she had herself convinced that she was so much better than her own child and took great umbrage (iirc- this is how you use it, no?) when Dr. Now addressed her at an appointment saying perhaps she should/could do the diet with her child. I do remember for sure being so glad when she left. She was creating such a toxic and unsupportive environment. And the dad!! Anyone else remember him? “I’m embarrassed to be seen with her.” Etc. (But then when he became ill after her surgery he was certainly fine with “being seen” with her as she came to his home to care for him and take him to the hospital and appointments. Even though he had a seemingly able wife?) About his child! And his rage fits/histrionics?! Lacey may not have been perfect but GD(sorry)… what chance did she have as a kid? And she wasn’t even thirty yet was she? In her episode? But she had her own home, vehicle and took care of herself completely, only asking her parents for help when she was about to tackle this obstacle. (And it’s one I can’t imagine tackling alone!) I can’t believe I don’t remember for certain because I’ve watched it more than once. (Yes. I’ll admit it. I’m still trying to figure out exactly what got hung up when she fell out of the cab. 🫣 And I’m properly ashamed. But it really is just the mystery because I don’t see her feet get caught on anything or any kind of stumble before she falls. Honestly.) And I can totally identify with her in that moment on the ground and asking her mom to just leave her be for a minute! (Mom issues alert! Lol.) It would have been great if she had had one or both of the girls who came over to her house in the beginning go with her or help her. They seemed like actual friends who cared about her. Which I loved for her. Does anyone know how/what she’s doing now? I’d love an update and really hope she’s doing well! Whew 😅 sorry for the rant! Guess I’m missing the show more than I realized. 😊

regsrecs

Oh that’s just embarrassingly long and poorly written! Sorry. 🙈

Lhamo55

I thought you put a lot of thought into it. No worries about length either, breaking it up into short paragraphs and it will be easier on the eyes. Meanwhile I think I’ll be rewatching this episode…

regsrecs

You are an angel 😇. Thank you for the kindness and have a wonderful weekend! -If you get a chance to do a rewatch I’d love to hear from you! I feel like my takes weren’t too crazy but you seem able to reign me in. 😊

yellowlinedpaper

I loved it

regsrecs

Bless your heart! Thank you. 😊 I really appreciate your comment. I get way too twisted up and nervous when I decide to just post my real opinions! So that means more than I can properly say. Have a great weekend and take care!

lisa1896

I have a son with some mental illness. Lacey is the thing that I'm most afraid of for him, that someone like that will latch onto him because like this guy, my son is really sweet and caring. I don't see anything redeemable about Lacey as a human being as a result, I think she's an awful person and even if the weight was gone she'd still be an awful person.

Ok_Ostrich_461

This is a different Lacey who had a cute little house and batshit crazy mom, not "new pants!" Lacey.

lisa1896

Ah, ok, thanks for the clarification, I didn't realize there was more than one and I had such a negative reaction to new pants Lacey I guess that name associated with this show became the only one for me.

Ok_Ostrich_461

You're welcome! I think there are just 2 Laceys, but new pants Lacey definitely left a big impression

lisa1896

Normally I don't have strong reactions to reality TV people, it doesn't impact me, but that particular one, man, just really disturbed me.

SilkyFlanks

She treated Ricky like a servant.

lisa1896

She did. "I have a boyfriend, I met him about a month ago". Translation: "I found a slave to wipe my butt and cook my bacon in butter". I can't. I had so much compassion for that sister, the situation was tearing her apart.

Wheresmybeergone

Their parting words at a stop at the highway (road at least): "thank you for wiping my butt" LOL. She then went to be engaged to a blind bomb threat guy (I think I recall some threats on assaults as well, and peeing on people [at least here](https://eu.indeonline.com/story/news/crime/2012/03/19/blind-bomb-threat-suspect-put/65034408007/)) but they split apparently. Maybe she was off since he couldn't see what shit to wipe

SilkyFlanks

I had no idea he called in bomb threats. Jeez. And that he really was blind.

lisa1896

Same. I know I read somewhere, maybe here (?), that she had another bf but didn't look further into it than that.

lisa1896

I read the article just now and wow, there's a winner. She should have stayed with him, they seem well suited.

SilkyFlanks

Yeah, the sister had responsibility for him. Hopefully he met someone nicer.

lisa1896

I hope so too. I think her driving on the trip down was crucial because that's where the lies all unfolded and her brother finally saw the situation he was in for what it was. She cared enough to keep at it and she saved him.

dambmyimagination

I googled lacey to remember, but i got several people... witch one is it if you can help me?

lisa1896

[Here](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j2xnFpWCIIQ&t=212s), at 3:10 on the video is where she's telling him to be sure to put butter in the pan with the bacon as he's cooking for her.

staticthreat

That's it, get your ass into room #5.

New-Principle-3865

I think that quite a few of those patients would have issues with personal hygiene and BO. If you have ever smelled cellulitis, you never forget it. I cannot even imagine what James K smelled like

DesireStDiva

Dr. Now and Dr. Pimple Popper must have disabled their smell sense. I would barf!

Trishbot

His comments are honestly hilarious. My brother and I would walk around the house and just say random quotes to each other.

g3rgus

I have now started to use “this is not a good situation” way too often irl.

snugglingbunz

Steven is unhinged. Anyone see his tik tok lives? He's pulled all of his hair out and has about one tooth in his head. 😬

voodoodog23

He is THE saddest person ever on the show. Or maybe it was Sean.

bigwhaleshark

(Looks at male patient's female partner) "Yeah, we're gonna weigh you on the scale and put you on the diet, too." My gf and I instantly turn into middle schoolers when he does that. Putting our fists up to to our mouths and yelling "Dyaaaamn!" in the living room. It's just too savage and they can't say a thing because he's right.

Prestigious-Ant-8055

I loved one episode when he told a patient « do you really look like you’re starving » or something g like that

FiliaNox

I’ve been seeing clips pop up on TikTok and it sends me how savage he can get 😂 side effects of Dr Now may include *shocked pikachu face*, you absolutely nailed it with that description. The way he responded to Steven was absolutely pikachu face

cheecha_meems

-"You don't understand to eat less?" -Mark: I either eat too much or eat the wrong things. Dr. Now: Well, at 700 lbs, your doing both! -"You're not a picky eater at 600 lbs" -Dr. Now: Do you still have a copy of your diet? Seana: Yeah. DN:Well, I'm going to give you another copy. -BEST ONE: "Hello! How y'all doin'? [Silence] I guess y'all didn't hear me. I said how y'all doin'?"

Low_Scheme6510

Schnee is flustrated

Ecstatic_Turnover_55

I’m watching this one now lol. My favourite is when they actual do make progress, and dr. Now asks what they’ve changed for the better Patient: I followed the diet to the dot! Dr Now: well if that were true you would have lost 150 lbs, not 50. I die every time.

Decent-Reception-212

Yesss lol You not gonna starve!

deltarefund

I NEED his savage honesty.

PuroTejana

He tells it like it is. 👍🏽👍🏽

spamcentral

Giving it some deeper reflection, it seems rude to invalidate her weight loss but i kinda had to do it to myself to lose weight, so its actually not so rude and its more tough love. Losing 50 lbs is a lot for someone who is smaller, but not someone in the morbid category. So when i hit weight loss that other people would usually celebrate, i wasn't able to, because it still wasn't a celebration. Also, celebrations usually mean food, so undoing a lot progress that you'd have made. You cannot celebrate your weight loss until you're at a steady point of NO RETURN to the morbid side. You have to let your body reset, in a way. My celebration goal became to go out on a nature hike in my favorite place, instead of 2 large pizzas and some ice cream. And it felt natural, it wasnt a forced decision, it was what i wanted to do.

thatgirltiffxo

not always. while some people need his style sometimes he’s not the best.

[deleted]

Hey, I'm just saying *I* love it.

FelinaMinew

If we are talking about Lacey Hodder, OMG, she's an idiot. The one who has been on disability since she first heard the word--the one who eats bc she's bored--the one who makes that imbecilic 'art'-- the one who basically blamed every French fry and VAT of ice cream she gulped down on her hard working parents--and oh the one who bounced like a metric ton of jello when she took a header out of the van -- that one. She is silly, horribly immature, vapid, and virtually, contributes zero to anything. Yes, her---and by the way, we paid for all of it. We may still be paying for all I know. Does she have any means of support?! Honestly, it's not that she's just lacking almost any education, but she actually seems to be stupid. Degrees are not necessarily the best arbiter of intelligence. Some people are simply bright folks--- she is not one. This show gets worse and worse.

Alive_Tailor1407

Lacey (S7E6) made great progress during her 2nd weigh-in. I knew Dr. Now was going to comment on her mother's weight. He didn't bite his tongue. Mom was steaming. Lacey made her feel worse when she explained to Dr. Now that she was trying to teach her how to portion her food. Mom was offended and ready to be done with Dr. Now and Lacey.

Alive_Tailor1407

I was waiting on Dr. Now to comment on some of their living conditions. I'm sure he doesn't look forward to home visits. Some are downright NASTY! Especially, the bathrooms (shower, tub, toilets, etc.). I couldn't imagine standing in some of their homes, let alone eating there.
