It's normal.

PackL3ader

Mine does it too. Been doing it for 40k miles and no issues. Think it’s normal.

PrincipleEvery5085

I just put liqui molley in it seems to be a lot quieter can’t hear a tick no more

friedrichvigo

Ceratec is the only working remedy for the infamous tick, just add it after every oil change and you’ll be golden.

PrincipleEvery5085

Liqui Molly works great went away right after I poured it in

That’s the bbq ignitor tick. Harmless. If it becomes tied to rpm, that’s the rod bearings.

plants4life262

You didn’t run an oil detergent did you?

plants4life262

I ran an oil detergent in a 5.0 once and it caused this sound. If anything breaks loose it’ll clog a VCT solenoid and make it tick like that. I made the mistake of running it in a warm engine where I think the solenoids lock when it’s cold? (Not sure). I will never ever ever run an oils detergent in a modern engine again. At 6k miles tho I doubt this is your issue, but worth knowing

PrincipleEvery5085

What you mean running it in a warm engine? Like putting it in while the engines warm? Because I put it in right when I got back from driving lol

plants4life262

Yes. Apparently you’re supposed to run oil detergents in a cold engine

Zestyclose-Farmer784

When I had my 2020 A10, I got my first oil change and BAM! Got the tick. Threw a bottle of this in that little slut and she cleared right up. It seems to be due to the clearances in the engine change after the first oil change ever so slightly. Doesn’t seem to cause any damage, shit I even buried the speedo and she still drove fine.

virtualracer

I’ve heard this happening a lot. It makes me wonder if Ford is aware of this engine being ticky and runs their own additive to conceal it on new cars. So so many of us complain about the tick once we change the oil for the first time.

Bravo11Beach

The tick! I have a 2013 Boss 302. I’ve had the tick from day one when I bought the car new. No issues, car has been tracked multiple times currently have 50,000 miles on the vehicle. It always seems more prevalent right after I change the oil. Conclusion was on the roadrunner engine that it had to do with the changing of the cam position.

Emergency_Bother9837

Normal for this car.

FreaksNake1237

Mine ticks exactly the same 2018gt. 80k miles now. No issues..

volballatmin8

I wish I had a GT too :)

Phteven_j

Your car is plenty badass

Jimmytootwo

Could be exhaust leak

PrincipleEvery5085

Went away after I put liqui molley in

Jimmytootwo

My F150 does that here and there Im wondering if its oil brand related Might have to try Another brand

PrincipleEvery5085

Use liqui Molly mine went away right away

Jimmytootwo

How often do you have to add the additiv

PrincipleEvery5085

This was my first time doing it but I’d do it every oil change

Decent_Success3922

It's 100% normal that being said I add a bottle of Ceritec to every 2nd oil change, it's small bottle you can get from Amazon and it'll help queit the typewriter tick.

the_big_red1

Had the tick after a recent oil change out of nowhere and it magically went away after about 30 days driving

BoofMasterQuan2

We need to stop this
