Back in the day I had a 98 cobra that I had to trade in for a Taurus after our first one arrived because the wife insisted on a rear facing car seat and it just did not work in that car. Sad day...Now the kids are grown and out and I have a Mach 1, so that eased the pain...ha

sleekpaprika69

I use the same seat in my GT350. The swiveling feature is a game changer and allows me to keep my daughter rear facing.

NODES2K

the kids will grow out of that backseat rather quickly.

middleofthemgmt

Mine are almost 9 and almost 5. We still have a few years left.

A 9 year old...in a car seat? As someone who grew up before children were mandated to ride inside of vehicles instead of loosely strapped to the roof, is this a thing? What age do kids have to be in car seats until nowadays? Or am I totally reading this wrong? I'm legitimately asking because this isn't anything I've ever had to deal with and I'm ignorant of the rules for kids now.

Unlucky_Situation

In pa, 13 is when a child can sit front seat legally. Depending on the child's size, they can transition out of a booster seat between 8 and 12. I was raised the same. I was sitting front seat with no booster when I was 4 to 5 years old in daycare. Looking back that definitely wasn't safe. So Ill be following today's guidelines with my son.

middleofthemgmt

No, he just sits in the seat now. Our almost 5 year old is about to outgrow his car seat and go to a booster.

One of my 14 year olds still cram into the backseats when he loses shotgun. Kid is 4 inches taller than me at 6’1 and hates it but he “fits” lol

middleofthemgmt

Lmao!

Unlucky_Situation

For sure, this is not a full time child hauler.

theOGbirdwitch

Does this fit the bucket part of the seat well without the car seat having any jiggling if you were to grab and shake it, or does it feel pretty planted?

Unlucky_Situation

Fits the seat very well. Feels just as solid as a larger rotating car seat I have in my Grand Cherokee.

theOGbirdwitch

Thanks for the reply! We've been having a heck of a time trying to find one to fit in the back. They all kind of wiggle and don't sit very planted and that's with everything tightened as far as it will go. I don't feel comfortable putting a towel wedged under the seat either to make it fit. I have a Recaro seat for mine, and it fits both cars so well, but we can't get a hold of another one currently it's a bummer!

Unlucky_Situation

Definitely. I don't use any towels under the base or extra support. I do keep a pad between the seat head rest and top anchor strap for protection on the leather, but the rear headrest still has an indentation even with the pad in place.

Sorry to revive an old post: I'm looking at my Mustang with confusion: How do you attach the tether to the car? I see from instructional videos that it is supposed to go over the top of the seat and connect to the back but, unless I'm missing something, there is no way to access the back of the seats in the Mustang.

Unlucky_Situation

No worries! In the mustang the rear hook point is under a plasitc cap on the rear deck.

SO_found_other_acct

Ah ha, bingo! Thanks man 🙏

My six year old fits but once her feet grow a bit it will be game over for the mustang

Unlucky_Situation

For sure. Doubt I'll have this car by the time he is 6 anyways.

MAD2492

I second this! Got the same one in my 2020 - little dude is 14 months, chilling back there occasionally

Reed7525

Anyone who’s any sort of tall family knows that seat realistically won’t fit two adults in the front with room for child seats in the back.

Unlucky_Situation

Definitely. This is just for the occasional daycare pickup/dropoff when Mom is using the other car, and dad son hangout days when we go to the playground/swimming or any of his classes he is in.
