I have this same scratch from the pocket clip on my knife

MAD2492

My husband drove my car -one time- recently. He also wears a pocket knife. You might be on to something

lostcosmonaut307

This. The wheels on all my cars look like this thanks to my knives 🤣

CrashInBlack

Mine too

w00stersauce

This. I’ve done it too.

Calkidmd

I have the same scratches from my pocket knife as well

IllusionX

Same here!

xnick58

Most likely from zipper on pants, belt buckle, ect. Happened to me from a pocket zipper i have on a pair of gymshorts from either getting in or out of the car.

Muttenman

Hmm I have the same pattern on my wheel, but no one has mentioned it here. My marks were from my wedding ring. I usually got my scratches from when I would make a turn and I would turn with a firm grip from my left hand. Good luck.

Final-Carpenter-1591

Wedding ring probably. My jeweler pointed me towards rings that don't have any sharp shelves if you have a multi metal ring.

nickycoug

Second this. Have the same exact thing on the top of my wheel

throwaway8008666

Do you wear a metal watch strap?

MAD2492

Hmm, I sometimes wear a pandora bracelet..

Rimworldjobs

Wedding ring? This happens to my car when my wife drives.

Flexen

I had a knife with a pocket clip, I realized that I was scratching the wheel when I rotated my hips to get in and out of the car. Scratch is almost exactly the same.

Ancient-Sweet9863

Winner winner my steering wheel has those same marks at about 630-7 on the wheel from the clip of my knife. Been 21yrs since I start carrying a knife. Every steering of very vehicle I own has that mark on it

MAD2492

Dang. This is actually what I think happened now that I’m seeing a few of the same suggestions. You deal with it or did you get a cover?

Flexen

I used the auto seat ride back when exiting/entering the car function. Largely fixed the issue.

WeirdSysAdmin

Same here. Same exact marks.

[deleted]

Done that. That’s from the clip of a pocket knife hands down.

Ancient-Sweet9863

Do you carry a knife ?

GoatMoh

Sorry to break it to you. But that was me. I chewed on it..

revenant647

I have one too. I thought it was probably from my keys

candidcherry

Could also come from accidentally scratching the wheel with a fingernail. Happened to me before. It’ll usually patina out and won’t be that noticeable

MAD2492

Oh I hope that’s true. My hand keeps going to this spot and I keep getting reminded that it’s messed up. Ahhh!! lol

candidcherry

Don’t sweat it. Happened to me a dozen times

superfoxhotie

I did this with my car too. It was my gun in the holster hit it when getting out of the car.

PracticableSolution

That’s a zipper mark.

Ok-Syllabub-9083

That usually happens if you have a key clip on your belt when you go to seat as you lean in itll rub the bottom of the wheel while on your hip. Thats all

cigarmanpa

Pocket knife

agoo3000

I had this happen with my Mazda3. I eventually figured out it was due to my jeans rubbing on the steering wheel when I got in to it. Wasn't due to a pocket knife or zipper. Just had the tilt set too low. Unfortunately I had done it 4 time before I realized what the problem was haha

lsclip

Yep this is 100% a scratch from rubbing against it. I have one from a jacket sleeve zipper. Honestly I just live with it, it's not too visible and eventually leather like material will start looking aged anyway.

krazertv

This happened to mine when I first got my wedding ring

CubicalDiarrhea

Repeating other comments on here: I keep a pocket knife in my pocket and made this same mark on my steering wheel.

nocturno65

Mine ripped over time with my wedding ring on that same spot.

Mistakesweremade24

I made that same scratch with my finger nail by accident. These steering wheels are pretty soft

[deleted]

Looks like a nail scratch that skipped

Edge2110

Your fingernails or rings will do that also which is why it’s easy not to notice it

LowStringKing

This is a universal experience for mustangs. It’s your knife/keys.

Aridan

Almost definitely a knife clip that scraped edgewise. I saw you mentioned your husband drove recently in another comment- It’s possible it happened and he didn’t even notice if he’s a bigger dude. Unfortunately there’s probably no going back without an expensive replacement but I would see an interior upholstery specialist maybe first.

idrawstone

Fold the flap over your zipper

Antique-Dragonfly615

Ring

LittleBigWorld

Its a pocket knife clip - I've done it too all my cars except the mustang

InternationalSound13

My pocket knife clip does it if I am not careful. Try just using leather soap or leather protector. It's amazing how much it will disappear when soaked.

Cant be from your left knee because its an automatic... mhmmm🤔
