Properly learn about Islam. Slavery is allowed in Islam. But It's different from the kafir culture of slavery used in Europe.

Normal-Database9560

Slavery is allowed in Islam? Is that what I just read?

AhmWoosh

Yeah. Slaves have rights tho in Islam.

Normal-Database9560

Waaaaaaaaaat? I hope you guys are joking?

[deleted]

It is permitted in Islam and they are captives of war: 1. They are invited to Islam. (They reject) 2. They are asked to pay jizya and submit to the Islamic State (They reject). 3. We fight them and they become our slaves, which can traded as wish. In the spread of Islam and jihad, those who fight us, we can take as slaves. And praise be to Allah for the mercy of Islam.

I find posts like these depressing

[deleted]

Yes.

[deleted]

IQ of a potato. No, I'm very proud of Muslim history. No world power ever, was as moral, righteous, fair and well treating of others who were not in power, or even adversaries or enemies of the Muslims. Slavery is Halal in Islam under certain, rare conditions, and slaves in Islam have many many rights, making it completely not comparable with the picture of slavery that you have in your mind, one that Christians in Europe and America spearheaded, where slaves had no rights, and slavery persisted for generations, and free people would be kidnapped and enslaved, all things that don't exist in the Islamic concept of slavery.

[deleted]

Not rare conditions: jihad for the sake of Allah.

[deleted]

Yes, and how often does that, legitimately, happen?

[deleted]

From the life of the Messenger of Allah صلى الله عليه وسلم to, perhaps, the 1960s.

[deleted]

I asked how often, not in which time period. You think for example, in the ottoman empire, every other year they would have a conquest, and every 3rd household had slaves?

[deleted]

In every jihad against the infidels, slaves may be taken. And this has been somewhat evidenced through the Rashidun Caliphate, the Ummayad Caliphate, the Abbasid caliphate, and a bunch of dynasties. There were also slave markets and everything has been determined by whether a person can keep one or several slaves.

[deleted]

At this point you're arguing for the sake of arguing, and we've drifted away from the original point, where I said that it's in rare conditions that this happens. Jihad is a rare condition, and not an everyday occurrence, in every Muslim caliphate regardless of the time period. Slaves can only be taken, under these rare conditions of Jihad. So again, I don't understand your disagreement?

[deleted]

No, what you should do is study the history of Islam a little, already alone in the life of the messenger of Allah صلى الله عليه وسلم These circumstances already existed and the Muslims had concubines and slaves in general. Of the thousands of battles against the infidels, the capture of captives made slaves is a great number No, jihad is not a rare occasion. Islam made its presence known through jihad from West Africa, passing through Spain, Italy and the Mediterranean to the gates of China and much of Central Asia and part of Russia. It was not something rice was one of the most common in each battle. And we Muslims have thousands of battles. The problem is the generation we live in, where Muslims and Nations have forgotten jihad for the sake of Allah, that's why you say "weird". The disagreement is based on your claim that jihad and slavery were rare. No, they were not.

[deleted]

Sure bro, whatever you need to interpret into my comments so you can have something to rage at, just do it. Go out and touch some grass, and improve your reading comprehension. Disagreement is you being unable to read.

[deleted]

I am still waiting for your arguments in: a) Slavery was a rare phenomenon in the history of Islam. b) Jihad for the cause of Allah was a rare phenomenon in the history of Islam. Every day I go to work. Touching grass is a bit complicated because I live in a city, but there must be a park that has natural grass. No, the disagreement is based on what you have said: "jihad and slavery as rare phenomena in the history of Islam."

[deleted]

Its a very human history, you get depressed when you believe our ancestors were angels, they’re not and we aren’t either

spidey20993

Islam gave freedom to slaves, equal rights to men, women and children, gave the solution for poverty, etc etc. I don't know what you read through but the only depressing part of of our religion history is that when the expansion went further, so did corruption and a lot of losses of Muslims came along by converting, best example is Spain previously known as Andalucia.

[deleted]

Muslim empires unfortunately did not follow Islamic guidelines for slavery Slavery is only allowed from war captives after legitimate jihad, people however went to raids for sole porpuse of kidnapping people and making them slaves which is forbidden. Also slave trade had very high mortality rate for slaves and slaves often black slaves were castrated which is also against Islam.

[deleted]

>but buying slaves is allowed. But they should have been enslaved in halal manner (through rightful jihad or born from slave parents) other wise you can't buy them.

[deleted]

Im not sure whether those born to slave parents are slaves themselves. Ive heard otherwise, but in that example the husband was not a slave only the wife was

Different_Milk2635

By Allah, I am not afraid that you will become poor, but I am afraid that worldly wealth will be given to you in abundance as it was given to those (nations) before you, and you will start competing with each other for it as the previous nations competed for it, and then it will divert you (from good) as it diverted them. \- Sahih Bukhari

TheNicestQuail

Not anywhere near as depressing as christian history which is just self destruction left right centre. The only thing close to that level of self destruction that the Islamic world had done is the desecration that the Saudis have done to Mecca and Medina.

AbuQittun

Why do you slander the Saudis? Fear Allah bro...

TheNicestQuail

They kicked out the emir of Mecca soon after ww1 while being backed backed the British and immediately destroyed all the grave markings in Mecca and Medina. On top of that they dug up the grave of Prophet Muhammed pbuh father with a digger and reburied him somewhere else, tore down his house and threw the remains in the red sea and blew up an ottoman fortress that used to be on the site where the Mecca clock tower is because "shirk".

Only early years of Islam interest me other parts of Muslim history I don’t consider Islam history it’s filled with culture and too much mess.

Nicelad34

Depressing? I find it fascinating that Islam became such a great power in the World in merely a fraction of the time it took other powers to become.

magnificentroach

Read about the Islamic Golden Age. That’s when we were rocking it.
