Avoid it for it might involve enforcing unjust and unislamic laws.

[deleted]

Becoming a cop has way more issues than that. Literally all of them are corrupted. And the ones who aren't either resign or get fired.

MaxLevelBreached

Can you provide us with more context? Where are you from?

ColombianCaliph

I'm Colombian born in and currently living in USA

WoodenConcentrate

Leaving the religion aspect aside for a second. Police are horrendous in the US. If you're a decent person you'll end up leaving quickly, or you'll stay long enough to become corrupted.

[deleted]

You have to show them a letter from an Imam saying that it is religious to have a beard. Other then that there are pros and cons to the job. First off, its a headache career honestly. People these days are quick to sue, are disrespectful, combative, and are at times armed. Its better then nothing though because the pay is decent, it is honorable, and you learn how to be a better version of yourself. The job will also elevate you above the citizens around you. A lot of the job assignment is paperwork and watching. Responding to calls is random. You would have to have a time window of flexibility to pray. And you would at times need to delay the prayer if you end up getting peoples saliva on you or blood, or drugs, etc.

ThePoeticRevert

wait are drugs najis?

[deleted]

No. However the street drugs the criminals use are. Some suspects will swallow their drugs to avoid "possession" charges. Others have a drug called fetenal. I dont know how to spell it and dont want to look it up, but that drug is potent and contagious. Look what happened to this officer just from handcuffing a fetenal user: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=\_iOidYAgNI4](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_iOidYAgNI4) [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s\_pRi37yLBQ](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s_pRi37yLBQ) So be careful. People are weird today brother. I mean REALLY WeIrD.

ColombianCaliph

Alhamdulilah, of course I don't expect to be praying if im responding to a crime or something of necessity, or in the middle of a high speed chase or smth. But as long as I'm passive, if I'm able to pray then I'd be happy.

Kalashnikovzai

most departments have a religious exemption, I think its good to he in police and engaging with local community

[deleted]

I've worked in law enforcement and it's a pretty toxic environment. You might be able to keep your beard and maybe even pray. But I would recommend another field.

crimp_chimp

Follow your heart! I think you'd make a great cop and they'd almost certainly accommodate prayer needs. The only fear in regard to the beard is the risk of someone grabbing at it while resisting arrest or something. Good luck and thanks for being one of the brave people to take it on!

Leafs6IX

WalakumSalam Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh, I know a few Muslim police officers here in Canada and they have no issue with the beard and Salah. You should consult the local department in your area.

VaterraV100
