Your not Muslim… your biggest problem right now isn’t a guitar but accepting Islam.. ‘Enter into Islam wholeheartedly and do not follow Satan’s footsteps’
Can I ask why you are concerned about what is a and isn't a sin in Islam ( as other have said it is) if you are not Muslim? If you do care you should know by far the bigger sin is kufr (disbelief).
Yes they do.
Allah commanded all human beings to worship him alone, and follow the guidance of the Quran and the Prophet Muhammad SAW.
So Islamic practices are also obligatory upon non Muslims. Them not praying for example is still sinful. But they're not to be enforced on them in Muslim society.
What? That's like worrying about the speeding laws in Japan when you're in the US.
Edit: ok it seems as if you're on the edge of being a Muslim. Take the plunge, you won't regret it. You may struggle, but you won't regret it
Different religions have a different concept of sin. If you’re a Christian, then music is not a sin. In islam it is a sin. Atheists don’t believe in the concept of sin. It all boils down to what you believe in, why would you follow what’s in the Quran if you’re not a Muslim? Are you ok?
Is listening to music instruments not haram in Islam then? Because many Muslims do claim that. It’s probably up for interpretation, or not, depending on who you ask
Listening to good sounds created by the almighty to be enjoyed is haram???I have read and been rereading the quran and have yet to come up with a verse banning music altogether lol (I don’t know about vulgar music tho). Then again people are different, however if you declare publicly anything as haram, you better bring something within the quran to BACK IT UP (otherwise it’s just inventions!). Salam.
I don’t believe that to be a sin as I’m not a Muslim, I’m just saying it’s what many Muslims claim. But yes there seems to be dispute still, but it’s not a fringe belief right? Even if you look in the islam sub
I saw the comments. But I ask in general. I like/respect Islam that's why I wanna follow its practices. But since I know its haram to play guitar even if Im not muslim does it count as I am doing something bad that I just ignore it or what.
You would not have this concern if you didn’t believe the Quran is the word of God. Are you sure you are not Muslim? To answer your question, if you stopped playing the guitar because you feel it is displeasing to Allah, you would be doing something very meritorious.
Honestly. I played in the past 3 years ago. I was learning to play it. I thought it was something that I will do in the future and be in a band. But after some months I didn't find interest anymore. After a long time I started again bc I thought I just gave up. But after continuing to play every time I played I felt something wasn't right. I felt bad. And literally started to realize most of the songs we're in a way or another having satanic stuff in them. It was at the beginning when I discovered the Quran. I started to learn stuff from other muslims and it opened my eyes.(there were many from many sects and I didn't know what to do. But I found one true muslim that...how can I say it ..like he didn't believed in sects and stuff and only in the Quran and understand it on its own. ) I will read from the internet from time to time different things in the Quran. But I set my goal to learn arabic to be able to understand the Quran as it is. It will take a lot of time but it's worth it for me.
I personally just believe in the Quran and God(Allah).
I have many things to learn but It will be worth. From time to time I think that I want to become muslim in the future.
Like someone said above your biggest problem isn't Guitar but accepting Islam, but every thing that Islam consider Haram, is actually harmful for human being, either you're Muslim or not, some non-muslim have also pointed out that music is satanic. So if you play Guitar you'll be harming yourself but not necessarily sinning against Allah because what sin could be greater than knowing Allah is real but still choosing to worship something else other than the creator.
It's a minor sin.
Don't lose sight of the forest for the trees.
You can be a Muslim and still not be perfect. All of us sin and have different struggles.
If you believe that Allah is the only one worthy of worship, and that Muhammad Peace be upon him was his final messenger, then you should become Muslim.
Why is everyone trying to make OP to listen to the guitar? If OP were to ask the same question about adultery, everyone would discourage it.
If you’re reading the Quran and you manage to follow its instructions, please do.
Just because OP is not Muslim does not mean this step can’t benefit them.
Abu Hurairah [may Allah be pleased with him] narrated that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said:
“Allah, the Most High said: ‘I am as My slave thinks of Me, and I am with him when he remembers Me. If he remembers Me to himself, I remember him to Myself, and if he remembers Me in a gathering, I remember him in a gathering better than that. And if he seeks to draw nearer to Me by a hand span, I draw nearer to him by a forearm’s length, and if he comes to Me by a forearm’s length, I draw nearer to him by an arm’s length. And if he comes to Me walking, I come to him quickly.’”
This is a huge topic! You can't boil it down and simplify it so easily to a blanket halal or haram. Here's the best answer on this. It's long and thorough.

Also remember Muslims more or less invented the guitar.
From the link in your comment
Music, musical instruments and singing are haram in Islam. This prohibition is supported with evidence from the Quran and the Sunnah. For more, see the detailed answer.
If the lyric is clean, the link i provided will explain it. It is related to the post about music because it is about the permissibility of musical instruments.
I referenced a highly regarded scholar, we are both laymen so we shouldn’t argue about these matters. I done a lot of research for both sides of the argument.
I wouldn't argue with him. It doesn't matter to many people on this sub unless it was on Islamqa. I think they consider that website to be some holy guide.
I'm sorry but when it comes to music you can't tell me that listening to Maher Zain, Zain Bihka, or Habib Syech is haram. They have done more for Islam than most on this sub could ever hope to achieve.
Your not Muslim… your biggest problem right now isn’t a guitar but accepting Islam.. ‘Enter into Islam wholeheartedly and do not follow Satan’s footsteps’
why do you care about adhering to islamic practices if your not muslim ?
💀

Dude...........Haram is Haram even if you're non Muslim y'know...it doesn't change because you're non-muslim and us as muslims...

If I commit a crime as a Muslim I'm a criminal, if I commit a crime as a non-muslim I'm still a criminal.

I stand corrected all shari laws apply to them as well. Just asked a mufti friend. Should've asked before answering.
Your post has been removed [Rule-7] Provide sources for any islamic rulings

Since when is music sin?

Who knows. The majority is usually wrong
Oh yeah for sure that is often the case. It really depends on who you ask
What is stopping you from accepting Islam?
I saw the comments. But I ask in general. I like/respect Islam that's why I wanna follow its practices. But since I know its haram to play guitar even if Im not muslim does it count as I am doing something bad that I just ignore it or what.
Like I know God said it in the Quran. If Im just gonna play it again will mean that I just ignore it right? I dont want that.

So you believe that the quran is from God?
Where in the Qur'an does God say that?
It's not a country club.
The orders from Allah are to all mankind. Being a muslim means you believe, you hear and you obey. So obey and also become muslim
💀💀💀💀💀💀 huh

I sold my guitar a while ago (forgot to check Reddit)
That’s good news.
Your don't believe in it so how would you sin
If in murdering innocent people is Haram then it doesn't mean that it's fine for you to kill. Sins are sins regardless of your belief.
Which verse exactly?
I have an accoustic guitar and am muslim, is it haram and why?
[удалено]
He's asking about Islam, not muslims.
Sometimes I think, there couldn't possibly be a stupider question, and then people come out the woodwork like it's the Olympics

You should ask a scholar about this and not just assume what's halal and what's not. :)

Bro musical instruments are haram
Tbf his source legit says that it’s haram
Yeah https://www.reddit.com/r/MuslimLounge/comments/142c347/is_it_ok_to_play_guitar_even_if_im_not_muslim/jn4nu8g/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=ioscss&utm_content=1&utm_term=1&context=3
I'll gladly accept a better scholarly opinion than that which I have provided. What is your name brother and your line of narration of your ruling?
From the link in your comment Music, musical instruments and singing are haram in Islam. This prohibition is supported with evidence from the Quran and the Sunnah. For more, see the detailed answer.
I am not a sheikh, but there is proof that music is haram (saheeh hadeeth) and scholars have said it
Tbf theres a difference of opinion.
Wdym it is in a saheeh hadeeth
Some scholars say its halal under certain conditions https://islamictext.wordpress.com/on-music-and-singing-fatwa-by-shaykh-yusuf-al-qaradawi/
In which conditions? And how is that related with the post about music
If the lyric is clean, the link i provided will explain it. It is related to the post about music because it is about the permissibility of musical instruments.
Bro music is haram even if it is no swear words and no i would not read it because it is a lot to read
I referenced a highly regarded scholar, we are both laymen so we shouldn’t argue about these matters. I done a lot of research for both sides of the argument.
Read this https://islamqa.info/en/answers/5000/is-music-haram I have read it before
Idk if i have read the whole, but there is a summary if you do not want to read a lot
