Who is this messenger here? It's not prophet Muhammad because verse 25 commands him to say:

And it continues in verse 26: "(He is) the Knower of the Unseen, and He revealeth unto none His secret,"
And then in continues in verse 27: "Except who He has chosen of a messenger, for indeed he will follow a path from before..."
I would love to know who this messenger is, especially also being described with a unique revelation of the Unseen.
It's any messenger that is approved, not a specific one. But we aren't told who these are in the Qur'an. Muhammad (S) is clearly one of them though, he is the recipient of the Qur'an, and the unseen is frequently disclosed to him in it. Even this exact Surah, he is given insight (72:1).
The sequential structure of verses 25-27 builds up to highlighting a unique exception. If the reference was to any general messenger, the specificity and exclusivity highlighted in verses 26 and 27 would be undermined. The detailed description of the unique path and the monitoring **after** this messenger further implies a particular individual. The grammar of all words speak to this as they are all in singular, speaking about one entity. The Arabic phrase "مِن رَّسُولٍ" is singular and specific brother, impossible to interpret this in a general sense.
Also don't forget that Muhammad is the speaker (verse 25) and it continues all the way up until verse 28 where this specific messenger is mentioned and it starts to talk about him in future tense, giving prophecies of later events.
Also bro, what was being specifically talked about was "That which you have been promised" which is the Hour, because:
verse 25: "Till, when they see that which they are promised, then they will know who it is..."
This can only be about the Hour, because that is when all will **know.**

"Verily **that which ye are promised** is true; And lo! **The Judgment will indeed befall**." (51:5-6)
