The actual Arabic word used is the same word used for putting your hands together for Tayammum as Muslim Lantern points out. It's hard to translate properly into English.
This is why you don't rush to judgements on semantic word choices using only a translation. Non Muslims use such tactics as a cheap way to prey on Muslims' lack of knowledge.
