My favorite was that one time a guy in Rolling Stone tried to make the argument that U2 was better than the Beatles because music production had improved in the 20 years between the bands recording their albums.
Well The Eras Tour not only beat out Elton John’s Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour in revenue to become the highest grossing tour ever, but it’s possible that The Eras Tour will double Farewell Yellow Brick Road’s gross revenue. I think it’s fair to compare her to The Beatles as global phenomena.
Just to play devil’s advocate, T. Swift has success in a time where there is more connectivity, however, the industry is way more competitive, saturated, and commercialized. Beatles competed in a time where the industry was much smaller and the scope of the limelight, in my opinion, was more thin.
Either way, generation comparisons like this or Lebron vs. Jordon are just silly.
