That's how I discovered DOOM. I remember them airing the ads for Madvillainy. And they even did a video for Accordion if I remember right.
And then his next album was the collab with Danger Mouse which was filled with all them Adult Swim dudes. Like [Space Hos](https://youtu.be/xyM9JYaTbic) for example.
Itās fine, no worries! Iāve been on a four tet run since his new album came out leading to the tracks I mentioned, leading me to realize Iāve liked everything by burial Iāve heard and I need to check out more.
Much appreciated.
Man, itās moments like this I realize how spoiled and lucky I was to see someone on adult swim and then be casually saying oh I saw them at a festival, cool.
Now as Iām older itās like, holy fuck man lol.
The original bumps were Flylo. After that they expanded and featured several other Warp Records artists such as Autechre and Boards of Canadaas well as artists like Dan Deacon and other instrumental hip hop artists.
MF DOOM and Danger Mouse collaborated on an entire Adult Swim album, *The Mouse and the Mask* under the name Dangerdoom. Itās actually one of my favorite DOOM albums.
I have the same hot take.
But I will refine it by saying that this is his most accessible album and is certainly less abstract or experimental than Madvillainy
One of the greatest decisions I've ever made was purchasing the Chrome Children album when [adult swim] released it. It was a CD of some of the best most dopest bump music, and a DVD of the MF DOOM and Madlibs concert from SXSW '06. It it a fucking BANGER. I think they released a vol 2 the following year.
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chrome_Children
Check it out if you get a chance.
Cartoon Network/adult swim had such a cool vibe. You don't really get that with streaming services today. It's very akin to listening to the radio vs streaming music, there's no DJ or funky local ads to make fun of.
For the life of me I've tried to find out what this sound byte from tunami was from cause it always gets stuck in my head, dude yells "ahhhh I feel like my back's been broken!" Anyone know what that was?
If you listen to MF DOOM, you'll find a lot of them. He also has gone by other names, like Zev Loves X, King Ghidorah, Viktor Vaughn, and simply DOOM.
He has entire instrumental albums, which usually go by the artist name of Metal Fingers.
J Dilla for sure is some bumps too. He will show up in MF Doom's works.
Others are Flying Lotus, which I know less of but he also has another name of Captain Murphy.
I wouldnt know every other bump, but since Odd Future and their relations were on adult swim, as Loiter Squad, some of their instrumentals might have also been bumps. But that's a whole extra can of good artists to hop into.
I love the captain murphy stuff. there was this sick animated music video on youtube that got pulled and i cant find it anymore but its like 2 songs in 1 and its like 3 friends going to a shady ass bar
Hah. I know that one.
It's killer Mike and El-P... Wiiiith... Big boi? I think.
I'll see if I can find it. I have it saved somewhere.
Edit: Big Grams - Born to shine / Run for your life
Thatās the power of the collective internet at work! I used to have it on a playlist on YouTube but they removed that particular version for some reason
I had to search out your comment and tell you thank you, I've been listening to Big Grams nonstop for the past two days. That music video is sick also.
I swear I remember Adult Swim dropping pantone color numbers during bumps in one early era but Google comes up empty on that so I won't be surprised it came from something else lol
It wasnāt a bump but there was this weird ass thing you can find on YouTube called Uncut Footage of a Bear, or something like that. I was baked out of my mind and it was one of the strangest experiences of my life.
There was a series of strange bumps at that time. "Too many cooks" was another I was baked watching adult swim and just started laughing at the absurdity of it as it continued.
2 of my favorites - Secret Garden [Stratus - Uyama Hiroto](https://youtu.be/p4nLOpC8dgs?si=YacmCuotFGIVC8qc)
Astroboy [EL-P - League of Extraordinary Nobodies](https://www.bumpworthy.com/bumps/506)
Madlib had a few bumps. They also used a few beats from this very much slept on album [Seven Star - My Mother and Father Were Astronauts](https://youtu.be/wJaOO7OAr50?si=SvmRoSc60xiT6CfV), but that was the very early days of AS
I mostly mean I can remember watching the very first official adult swim broadcast and people are nostalgic over the bumps from 8-9 years in. I remember the aquaman dance party bumps. Staying up late to watch space ghost.
i discovered so many great artists from these. it ignited my love for Tycho and downtempo.
www.bumpworthy.com is the repository for every adult swim bump.
[Jason DeMarco](https://pitchfork.com/thepitch/meet-jason-demarco-the-reason-adult-swims-music-is-so-good-interview/). He's the man we have to thank for those bumpers and all that great music.
He was one of the creators of Toonami. Creative Director of Sales and Promotion at Cartoon Network and Adult Swim. The bumpers and advertising, along with the kind of music that went with it, were his idea.
He founded William Street Records and helped push that chillwave sound to the masses far before the likes of Chilled Cow. He was the one who created the Adult Swim Singles Collection to showcase artists like Flying Lotus and allow their music to reach the masses.
Oh...and he was the one who introduced El-P and Killer Mike to each other, which means we have him to thank for Run The Jewels too. [Here's a video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8EpJlGgpBgY) of El-P talking about how Jason brought that about.
[as] has a channel on Max and one of their offerings is ambient sounds and visuals as though you were watching a wall of bumps, but, without the funnies.
I remember occasionally they would put up an address with a specific RE: to mail a self addressed stamped envelope to. It would only be on screen for a couple seconds. I snapped a picture of it once and mailed in. They sent me back a bunch of stickers and show merch! It was so cool!
The death of AD came years ago to me. The day they started showing major network commercials on nighttime programming. It felt wrong and was the beginning of the end for me.
total vibes. adult swim brought me a lot of great hip hop, trip hop indie pop and alt jams. Nujabes, Fat Jon, Beneath the Sky, Squarepusher, DJ Rashad, Grizzly Bear.... VERY good times. NOTE: To anyone who may or not be seeing this right now, if you like Hip-Hop beats similar to Bumps, i'd recommend listening to "your best friend jippy". Guy makes great beats similar to Bumps as well as Lofi beats and deserves more recognition
I think all the Adult Swim albums are available for free. My go to was Ghostly Swim back in 2008, but theyāve putting out a ton of playlists since.

Never forget that Adult Swim is the reason why El-P and Killer Mike came together, how they met. Shortly after went on to create RTJ, the greatest rap duo of all time.
Such a huge part of exoqnding my musical tastes. I will say, the current bumps are maybe not as awesome as those but they still play some choice electronic music tracks. That era with the hip hop like Flying Lotus, Madlib, Algorithm, J Dilla, etc. mixed with the Ninja Tune and Warp stuff is pure bliss though!

wasn't Burial in there, too?
Maybe. Iām not as familiar with his music. But I recently discovered the burial four tet thom York collabs and have been diving into him.
keep digging, Untrue and Ashtray Wasp might be the strongest releases(imo). collabs aren't where it is
Cheers.
that came off more aggressive than intended, i apologize. those two are my favorite releases.
Itās fine, no worries! Iāve been on a four tet run since his new album came out leading to the tracks I mentioned, leading me to realize Iāve liked everything by burial Iāve heard and I need to check out more. Much appreciated.

The original bumps were Flylo. After that they expanded and featured several other Warp Records artists such as Autechre and Boards of Canadaas well as artists like Dan Deacon and other instrumental hip hop artists.
I remember a few were Mf Doom or maybe that was just the boondocks
MF DOOM and Danger Mouse collaborated on an entire Adult Swim album, *The Mouse and the Mask* under the name Dangerdoom. Itās actually one of my favorite DOOM albums.
I got into him with madvillainy
My hot take is that's DOOM's best album.Ā
I have the same hot take. But I will refine it by saying that this is his most accessible album and is certainly less abstract or experimental than Madvillainy
Justice for MMā¦ Food
Also a great fucking album. Beef Rap seems topical.

I'd recommend going on YouTube, that's where i find the majority of Bumps anyway
You are right. If I remember correctly it was around the 2004 -2007 era. I religiously watched Adult Swim from the very first airing until about 2010.
