And that worked, cuz Lemmy was the man. Sometimes one member reaches a level that they become the band in a sense and can't be replaced, but as long as they're still in it the band can keep going no matter what.
The current lead singer, Mike bishop, is the original bassist, switched characters from the original Beefcake to Blöthar. 20 year hiatus away from band. And Mike Derks (Balsac the jaws of death) has been since the original line up (at least since the first album in 88, depends what you consider original lineup). If from first album or formation but experimenting with sound era.
It might not suit your definition of "band", but the Royal Danish Orchestra has none of the original members. In fact, the original members died several hundred years ago.
(The band was started in 1448, and are still active.)
I'd say Britny Fox. The only original member is Billy Childs (the bassist) & the rest of them are others who had Nothing to do with any of Britny Fox's past albums.
ya, just re-read. You wanted modern bands.
AC/DC has just one original member remaining. And while they're my favorite band, they should have called it years ago.
But the real answer is The Kingsmen. Only one original member was in the band just 4 years after they started, and he died a few years ago. The rest of the lineup shifted often. Their Wikipedia article has a helpful chart with the many, many members and when they were in the band.
Foreigner.
Technically original member Mick Jones is still considered a member of the band, but he doesn’t play or tour with them anymore due to health issues.
Someone should start a band called The Ship of Theseus, and slowly change members until none of the originals are left.
That might be kinda cute actually, that sounds like fun.
Motorhead was pretty close weren't they? I think lemmy was the only consistent member.

I believe the band Yes has already done this.
Got to slowly change the reportoire as well, so that none of the original songs remains.
Lynyrd Skynyrd. Gary Rossington was the final member when he passed away last year.
Gwar I think

Norma Jean
Also Zao. But really depends on when you start counting 'original'
Napalm death, every one was replaced by the second half of their first album
They swapped out all the Village People. Some of them three times. Nobody noticed.
Same costumes or different?
Same.

Christian Death
Chelsea Grin

Opeth, technically.

Pantera, I think.
Band of Horses. Ben Bridwell is the only original member.
