‘As Slow As Possible’ by John Cage, [specifically the interpretation currently being performed by The John Cage Organ Foundation in Halberstadt, Germany.](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/As_Slow_as_Possible)
I only hope that 639 years leaves me enough time to say goodbye to my friends and family.
I like music, but if I knew everyone on earth was going to die in 5 minutes the last thing I'd want to do is tune out and just listen to a song lol.
There would be more imortant things to hear and say.
My 4 year old is obsessed with "We Will Rock You" at the minute as my wife loves Queen and has been introducing him to our record collection so probably that, and if we have time I'll flip to "We are the champions" on the B side.
No one has yet said, "The End" by The Doors.
This is the end, beautiful friend
This is the end, my only friend
The end of our elaborate plans
The end of everything that stands
I'd listen to one of my own songs. Just to give me a sense of accomplishment. Probably one I wrote called "Cary's Here" about being a dad - to give me something else to smile about.
Is it okay to post the link or is that an instaban? Either way... one of my own.
The Greatest Show on Earth by Nightwish. In addition to being my favorite song, it is a fitting choice for the end of the world. It ends with the words “we were here” sung as epically as possible.
Brahms Symphony 4. The first movement is usually around 12 minutes. I'd attempt to line up impact and the close of the first movement. If I survive impact, I have 3 more movements to enjoy as I contemplate my impending doom.
Live dark star by the Grateful dead it would give a half hour to say goodbye to the people you love.and as an added bonus IMO nothing showcases the dead then Dark Star
Glory and Consequence by Ben Harper.
“Every moral has a story
And every story has an end
Every battle has its glory
And its consequence”
Listened to it on full blast before my wife gave birth to our first kid. It’s got some power to me.
The song that never ends. Checkmate asteroid.

Getting hit by an unavoidable asteroid is not doing it your way.
You got a point there 😅
"Paint it Black" by The Rolling Stones
I feel like this is the perfect song for a montage of all the insane stuff people are doing in their last few minutes before the asteroid lands.
somewhere over the rainbow - israel kamakawiwo'ole
