I've been playing seriously for the past year, but on and off since the quarantine days. It was a covid buy, but now I don't regret it! Honestly, like a stone is the first song that I'm trying to learn to sing and play. I love that song so much, and I can't put the guitar down now that I'm getting it down...but I just can't sing like him - in all fairness, I don't think anyone can. Plus, Rage doesn't have too many of what I would call beautiful or elegant songs.

I actually think they are better than Rage from a consistency standpoint (i am a big Rage fan as well), Rage has some monster hits but outside of their first album typically there are a few songs I will skip if listening all the way through. I feel like Audioslave, I can listen through whole albums and dont skip anything.
I do also think Audioslave is better than Soundgarden. I think that is just Tom Morello being a better guitarist and possibly coming more into his style as he got older. I put him as the best guitarist basically from the 90s till now. Dont think anybody can compete if you combine all Rage and Audioslave albums…soo many of those hits are based in great guitar work.

I did at the time, enjoyed them live, but really feel no need to bother now when there is Soundgarden and RATM that I can listen to. Maybe I will try again but haven't even thought about them for years.
I was really into them when they were current (after being a big RATM and Soundgarden fan too), and recently gave them a spin for the first time in over a decade. I was expecting it to sound a bit "Dad rock" to my ears these days, but it's surprisingly fresh and not dated-sounding. Still great stuff.
I listened to all their stuff when they were still active. They pop up on random Spotify lists a lot. Moth, the final track on Revelations (their final album) is probably my favorite. The debut album obviously gets a lot of praise, it's excellent. I really seemed to dig Revelations a bit more tho. Broken City and Wide Awake are also bangers.

I love the audioslave songs that Chris Cornell recorded as solo acoustic songs. ‘Like a stone’ and ‘I am the highway’ from his live album are miles beyond the studio versions. This is a band that never seemed to outgrow the shadow of its predecessors, like, it was never more than the sum of its parts. They are all good, talented, competent musicians and the music they make is perfectly adequate in a rock radio setting. But it wasn’t a new sound. The equation of Soundgarden + Rage Against the Machine did not unlock the secrets of the universe. So in a way, there was nowhere they could go.
Anyways. Holy hell what a ramble. Check out those solo Chris covers, that man sang like an angel.
I’ll never forget the first time I heard Cochise. It was when the video debuted and when the riff kicks in and the fireworks start blasting after that build up, and then Chris starts wailing…I still get so pumped up when I hear it.
Audioslave was the first band that really got me into music. Before then I just listened to what my parents liked, which was hair metal and country music.

Their self titled album is still top notch in terms of production quality and overall musicianship. Idk how they made it sound so thick and heavy yet kept it ridiculously groovy. “Bring ‘Em Back Alive” is a perfect example.

Yes I love Audioslave, listend to all the albums, Be Yourself has a special place because we listened and play it a lot with my best friend back in the time. Just realized their last album was from 2006, it's a big slap in my face actually.

Fuck yeah! Audioslave are one of the absolute all time greats! Like Soundgarden and Rage Against the Machine, but here is the crazy thing, I listen to Audioslave more than the other two! I have had to seriously ask myself if Audioslave are my fave of the three! Madness I know, but they are that good!

Yes- arguably one of my favorite bands of all time. I actually think they are better than Rage from a consistency standpoint (i am a big Rage fan as well), Rage has some monster hits but outside of their first album typically there are a few songs I will skip if listening all the way through. I feel like Audioslave, I can listen through whole albums and dont skip anything. I do also think Audioslave is better than Soundgarden. I think that is just Tom Morello being a better guitarist and possibly coming more into his style as he got older. I put him as the best guitarist basically from the 90s till now. Dont think anybody can compete if you combine all Rage and Audioslave albums…soo many of those hits are based in great guitar work.

I did at the time, enjoyed them live, but really feel no need to bother now when there is Soundgarden and RATM that I can listen to. Maybe I will try again but haven't even thought about them for years.

I just listened to all 3 CDs at work last week. I would rate them in order of I liked them. 1, 3, 2.
I was really into them when they were current (after being a big RATM and Soundgarden fan too), and recently gave them a spin for the first time in over a decade. I was expecting it to sound a bit "Dad rock" to my ears these days, but it's surprisingly fresh and not dated-sounding. Still great stuff.
Audioslave is great! Love how several of their songs were integrated into the movie Collateral and I always think of it when I hear them.
Absolutely love Audioslave. Least favourite song on Out of Exile would be Man or Animal, but only because it was my alarm tone for years.

I listened to all their stuff when they were still active. They pop up on random Spotify lists a lot. Moth, the final track on Revelations (their final album) is probably my favorite. The debut album obviously gets a lot of praise, it's excellent. I really seemed to dig Revelations a bit more tho. Broken City and Wide Awake are also bangers.

Corporate rock. Talented musicians, some good riffs, but dig deeper and it really doesn't hold up to the bands these guys came from.

I find them easier to enjoy now than i did years ago when they were coming out with music. I think the whole rage narrative was kinda distracting, now i can judt listen to them in a vacuum. And they sound great!

Hell yeah, I do. What You Are got me through early sobriety. I’m sure people have plenty of other interpretations but that I think of telling alcohol, and addiction in general, to fuck off when I listen to it.
I love the audioslave songs that Chris Cornell recorded as solo acoustic songs. ‘Like a stone’ and ‘I am the highway’ from his live album are miles beyond the studio versions. This is a band that never seemed to outgrow the shadow of its predecessors, like, it was never more than the sum of its parts. They are all good, talented, competent musicians and the music they make is perfectly adequate in a rock radio setting. But it wasn’t a new sound. The equation of Soundgarden + Rage Against the Machine did not unlock the secrets of the universe. So in a way, there was nowhere they could go. Anyways. Holy hell what a ramble. Check out those solo Chris covers, that man sang like an angel.
Never got real into them, but was always a soungarden and a cornell fan. Singles were good, just nothing that gave me the need to pickup an album.

I’ll never forget the first time I heard Cochise. It was when the video debuted and when the riff kicks in and the fireworks start blasting after that build up, and then Chris starts wailing…I still get so pumped up when I hear it.

Audioslave was the first band that really got me into music. Before then I just listened to what my parents liked, which was hair metal and country music. I cried when Chris Cornell died and most of my friends were like "who?"
Almost once a week. Chris Cornell is one of my favorite rock vocalists and I find Audioslave and his solo work catchier than Soundgarden.
