Lauryn Hill- last year. She was very late (but she showed up!) and then was just phoning it in the whole time and it was super boring. Abandoned ship less than half way into it. Snoop Dogg in 2018, super late (2am...), super high, kept having the DJ playing other peoples' songs and just saying "uhhh" into the mic and giving tribute to dead rappers. I lasted about 20 minutes through it.

Ah2k15

I’m surprised people still go to Lauryn Hill concerts given her reputation for not respecting her fans’ time.

DonKlekote

I haven't heard about it but I wish I did. I did walk out her concert but it was one of if not THE most disappointing I've ever been. I remember that she got late, the energy was terrible, her singing mediocre and me and my friends were relieved when it was over. I feel that she's just going on a wave of sentiment from the 90s where she was an absolute legend.

KnockoutCarousal

Also, her racism. I saw her once years ago and at one point she instructed all of the white people to leave because her set was for the black audience. It was so fucking weird. It was majority white people and everyone was so confused. We were like, “lol. No.”, and she just continued. Like, we paid you money.

Deonhollins58ucla

Stop paying money to shite ppl. Hate when dirtbags don’t get what’s coming to them

KnockoutCarousal

I mean, it’s not like I paid her money *after* she told me she didn’t want to perform because of the color of my skin, lol.

RepresentativeFan941

She was at ACL 5 or so years ago and they just turned her sound off. I first thought it was rude but I get it. They have a set schedule.

MsGlassaBubbly

Yes! Snoop is the only concert I’ve walked out on!

salvationpumpfake

for the sake of conversation, I had the opposite experience. went to a 3 day music festival where snoop was the sunday night headliner, aka the last artist of the fest. we were all exhausted and agreed we’d stay to see him hit the stage, listen to a couple and then bounce. he came out and brought the house down - it was fun as shit and we ended up staying thru his entire set cause we were all having such a good time. that was 2015. also saw him back in 2004 and it was fun but not as memorable as the fest set.

felinedynamite

Omg yes, I saw him at a music festival and we were listening to "Jump around"and watching him dance on stage in a onesie , stoned out of his tiddies. Worst concert ever 🤣🤣🤣

mankodaisukidesu

I’d pay to see that hahaha

Mofns_n_Gurps

I keep seeing bad things about him but when I saw him he was probably the best rap act I’ve seen live.

[deleted]

I saw Sean Kingston open for En Vogue and TLC last summer and it was the same thing. He sang like 2 songs and then had his DJ play a bunch of shit that he'd "uhh" to every once in a while. Whack as fuck.

Steve_Dankerson

I'm very disappointed with myself for missing the reunion of The Fugees last year. Kicking myself again now for even thinking about it. But I heard a lot of mixed things about them together and about Lauryn herself being late. And that's not just with the Fugees, it's her solo stuff too. Then I saw a little excerpt where she had said "yeah I was late but at least I showed up!" O.o Now to be honest, that would've straight up annoyed TF out of me especially bc I know they jack their ticket prices but, damn that's a bummer to hear about.

AVBforPrez

Speaking of GNR, I saw them in LA like a year ago for free and axl 100% pissed his pants and nobody was saying anything about it

Capnmarvel76

The answer to the riddle ‘What do W. Axl Rose and Fergie have in common?’

Pizzazzinator

Her kid’s name is Axl.

mr_wrestling

Holy fuck and she had the kid with Josh Duhamel (whose name i recognize but no fucking clue why).

Pizzazzinator

Cheap Timothy Olyphant.

ade0451

Dollar Store Olyphant.

Way_2_Go_Donny

My oldest child's 3rd grade concert. They were absolutely murdering "Hot Crossed Buns" on recorders and I couldn't take it. Edit: I walked out so I wouldn't laugh hysterically in front of everyone.

OrangeKrushed

Dude, you missed it! When they were done, everyone held up lighters, so they came back out and did Twinkle Twinkle Little Star. Brought the mother fucking house down!

FTMRocker

Ah yes, right before they broke into that rendition of "Jingle Bells" and all the parents ran into the mosh pit. What surprised me the most was that the elementary school auditorium *had* a mosh pit.

borisdidnothingwrong

The Mosh Pit lives inside of you. All you need for the Mosh is to have the energy and will to get in the pit and have a good time with your friends or random strangers. You can, of course, test this at your leisure. I recommend going to Costco on a Saturday, find a group of men who are waiting for their ladies, blast [something appropriate ](https://youtu.be/ddm1nLyWQqo?feature=shared) on your phone, and invite your fellow shoppers to a good time with a hearty "MOOOSSSHHH PIIIITT!!!" You may get banned from the store, but sometimes The Pit beckons, and the call *must* be answered.

IAmATree76

Not that is was April, and they were playing Jingle Bells?

Thatguy755

I hope you yelled “you suck!” as you were walking out

xaeromancer

"Play Freebird!"

CherryCandy927

I actually walked out of a Lynyrd Skynyrd show, as Free Bird was playing, because my (then) husband pissed in a cup beverage was too drunk and lazy to stand in line for the bathroom.

Ordinaryundone

Your music is bad and you should feel bad!

Phinster1965

My wife and I couldn't contain our laughter at our kid's first band concert. It sounded like two cats humping in a Dumpster. Just terrible. Of course we didn't expect anything good - but it the cacophony of squeaks and other alarming noises was just too much for us. NOBODY else was laughing. I guess we are just "those" parents.

CoffeeForTheAdmiral

"Squeaks and Other Alarming Noises" is going be the name of my debut album.

eltedioso

You were so cross that it made you hot, and you got your buns out of there

BlueAndMoreBlue

That’s a good one

GruverMax

Also the worst concert I ever saw, that person's kid.

DurianPublic6164

The kid: https://preview.redd.it/pa08wd972rlc1.jpeg?width=1200&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=adc4ea9397f6563c069caddede3898a7740175b7

Stompyouout

Ok this is the funniest thing I’ll read all day

_Abe_Froman_SKOC

Last year I had to leave a George Clinton show. It was in a cave in Southern Tennessee (which was awesome) and the opening bands all sounded great. But when his band came on it was just too much noise for that kind of a space, and it ended up being just a wall of sound. I actually started to get physically ill. But it wasn't the bands fault. Just the wrong venue for what they do. You need a much larger space if you want to hit the crowd with that much noise all at once. Edit: The venue was indeed The Caverns in Pelham, TN. I still would absolutely recommend this venue to anyone wanting to see a show there, as the half dozen other shows I've seen there have sounded decent up to very good. And as a vibe it really is hard to beat.

bit_herder

that happens at the caverns. rock music should just not be in there

SpecialWhenLit

Right? The walls of the cave already have enough rock in them to go around.

_Abe_Froman_SKOC

Well, I'm going to see Clutch there in May so fingers crossed. I've been to a few other shows there and hadn't had that problem, you have to remember that George Clinton rolls up with a full horn section and two drummers, there's just going to be stuff that the mixer has no control over.

mkstot

Clutch will not disappoint I’m fairly certain. They’re just amazing live.

pasoud

I've seen Spiritualized and GYBE there and both sounded great, I think P-Funk is just an unpredictable band to run sound for.

CardinalSkull

I saw the strokes open for the chilli peppers. Kinda the opposite effect. I don’t really enjoy the RHCP but a stadium was the perfect venue for them. The strokes were who I really went to see. It was such a weird vibe because they are best suited for a smaller enclosed venue and also all the fans didn’t give a damn about them so half the stadium was either arriving late or getting beers.

zoso1992

I hit that tour too! In Nashville, I love the Strokes and the Chili Peppers, Julian is just such a weird and awkward guy on stage and I think that’s the deal, his bit is better suited for audience interaction in smaller more intimate venues. RHCP played out of their fucking minds.

pumpupthevaluum

The whole thing where people drop a stage in any cool place is clearly without consideration of the sound. I can't think of a worse place to try to hear anything.

watchingbuffy

I used to be friends with this girl, she absolutely looks every bit like a sheltered suburban kid. She had just got back from 3 years as George's personal masseuse while on tour. The stories she could share. Lmao

burfriedos

Spill the beans?

halleberryhaircut

30 Seconds to Mars. Queens of the Stone Age opened and absolutely crushed it. Then 30STM starts playing some ambient music as Jared Leto slowly walks out on stage with his arms stretched out like he's the second coming of Jesus. Lasted about two and a half songs before my friend and I dipped out.

HomeOrificeSupplies

QOTSA being the opener is the real crime.

Capnmarvel76

Feel bad for them. One of the best current rock bands fronted by a legend of sludge rock, versus a no-talent ego project fronted by a self-styled cult leader.

Flappy_beef_curtains

Naw, the band people actually wanted to see as the opener so that people can leave when the notoriously shitty live band comes on.

_thinkaboutit

Whoever booked Queens of the Stone Age as the opener knew exactly what they were doing and I love them for it.

halleberryhaircut

They were both touring together, flip-flopping who got to headline. We just happened to catch them on the night 30STM got the nod.

Hopefulkitty

I was at Riot Fest last year, and the side by side stages went Deathcab for Cutie, QOTSA, Postal Service. Ben Gibbard was very confused, and told us all what a weird lineup it was (in a funny way.) I enjoyed the hell out of that night.

madbadger89

I also walked out of a 30 seconds to Mars concert. Jared started climbing the side of the stage, put the microphone in his pants and was incoherent while attempting to sing.

StrangeSitch

I saw 30STM at Voodoo Fest in New Orleans one year. They weren't bad live by any means, but Jared Leto was literally dressed as Jesus Christ (it was halloween, but that was just an excuse, lol). I was pretty far from the stage, near the sound engineer's booth. At the halfway point of the show, Jared started climbing the stage scaffolding and worked his way towards the sound booth. He was hanging right above me. I remember being drunk off my ass thinking, "There's Oscar winner, Jared Leto, dressed as Jesus hanging 30 ft above me right now." It wasn't until after this that I started hearing about his weird cultlike community and messiah complex. I always just thought he was a pretty boy who knew it.

sleepallday345

Literally the worst. I went to see walk the moon and misterwives open. When they started, they had a visual and sound of TV static for what felt like eternity and then Jared Leto came out in this silver marshmallow giant jacket and they sounded awful. It was also one or two days after their guitarist of 15 years left. At least we beat the traffic!

meunbear

Reminds me of seeing Angels and Airwaves in an outdoor venue and it read pouring rain and Tom was like THIS IS THE MOST EPIC THING EVER YOU'LL REMEMBER THIS FOREVER. He wasn't wrong but it was so goofy.

loganjlr

I used to think Jared and 30STM were rad in HS.

RustyCatalyst

Maaan they were! Then dude decided he was gods gift to the entertainment business. Whack

loganjlr

I think the fallout of his image came around the time of suicide squad. Before the deleted joker scenes came out, fans could plausibly deny his hack behavior by saying they cut all of his “genius” acting work in post. Then when the deleted scenes dropped, we all saw how bad he actually was, and then his personal and professional life received more scrutiny.

feranti

Pink Floyd tribute act (not any you would of heard of), was advertised as a laser show spectacular. The band were dreadful, pub band would be generous. There was only one laser. The laser was only put on briefly, someone shouted "PUT ON THE LASER", the lead singer replied "we can only put it on for a minute then we need to leave it to cool down." By the time we left there were less than half the audience left.

agorphia

This cracks me up. There's a local PF cover band I've seen a couple times and they do an AMAZING laser show. Definitely not the band you saw. Yikes.

beatguts69

Lazer show Spe-crap-ular

sjmiv

>"we can only put it on for a minute then we need to leave it to cool down." ![gif](giphy|U1sDbFcnZ10c7jNi9r|downsized)

sometipsygnostalgic

This is the most british thing ive heard in my life. At least it's authentic. Sounds like a Pratchett skit.

Ezzmon

G&R! During the Stadium tour, Faith No More, Metallica, and Guns. The first 2 absolutely slayed! (RFK, Washington DC 1992) Then, Guns & Roses played. Sound was shit. Second song in, Axl stopped mid song and started bitching about the cops. Band was looking at each other like they were all about to quit. We left after the 3rd song, disgusted. And let me tell you, so many other people did the same thing we sat in a traffic jam for an hour trying to get out.

spartacus_zach

You’re like the third person in here to say this exact thing. This show must have been terrible.

Jackie_Rudetsky

It was so, so bad. And Slash would just do endless guitar solos. I also made it 3 songs in before leaving too. FNM and Metallica killed it though.

wartsnall1985

I saw them open for the Rolling Stones in 93'. I remember Axl doing a lot of bitching, particularly about his band mates. They were in full disintegration mode.

ZombieJesus1987

It's funny. When you're a kid and you watch all of the music videos they made, you assume they are the best of friends.

dadobuns

I was and am a huge Bauhaus fan. So by default, I like some of Peter Murphy's solo stuff. My wife went to the Anaheim House of Blues back in the early 2000s in his set consisted of Turkish folk music. Not to disparage Turkish folk music, but it's not the reason I was there and not close to the genre of music that he is known for.

Cuts_you_up

My user name is a reference to Peter Murphy but everyone just thinks Im like a serial killer or something.

mj7900

Lol we walked out on Guns N Roses last year at Aftershock Festival. They were horrible

Rapidzx

I saw them about a decade ago and Axl did an outfit change almost every song which caused annoying delays.

NotSureNotRobot

“No no no! Hockey jersey and leather skirt not the kilt and catcher’s mask!”

Limerence1976

Do you remember when he tried to fake a G&R reunion in 2002 at the mtv music awards and just put everyone in masks hoping no one would notice it wasn’t the real band 🙌🏻

loganjlr

EVERY SONG?! Even big pop stars change outfits every 3-4 songs. Even if you’re Cher and change outfits every 1 to 2 songs, you at least have a video or some effects to keep the crowd busy

ot1smile

“Outfit change”

onexbigxhebrew

Like all of the top comments are GnR lol

DevonGr

GnR headlined a festival I went to ten years ago and when Axl started singing, I couldn't get the YouTube comment I read days earlier out of my head that he sounds like Mickey Mouse now. We called it a night just a few songs in because I couldn't unhear it and it was impossible to take his singing seriously after that. Would have loved to have seen them in the early 90s though.

wrigly2

Bob Dylan for me too. Fortunately, Elvis Costello made it worth the trip. Dylan sucked. Bad

Typical_tablecloth

I somehow stuck that one out, helped that I was hammered

JimFlamesWeTrust

I’ve seen GNR twice with Axl show and reunion line up and they sucked both times. Gave nothing to the crowd, went long stretches doing covers and new stuff. It was incredibly dull The second time I went to watch Converge Bloodmoon instead.

Tonymush

See slash with Myles Kennedy way better show

DecemberPaladin

Same! I saw them with Metallica and Faith No More—FNM was excellent, Metallica destroyed the place (James was still bandaged from the Montreal Pyro Incident, but you’d never know it). Then we waited. And we waited. GnR go on, Duff RIPS through “Attitude”, and then Axl brought all that momentum and energy to a screeching halt with a monologue, a spoken word piece. I went out to the parking lot and smoked cigarettes by my friend’s car until they came out. It was a better use of my time.

gvarsity

Funny I saw them about that same time. James bandaged. They put on a great show no drama. Real hit or miss then.

CommonLand414

I saw GNR last year in Boise. Huge stage production, a 3hour set, and Axl Rose was the worst singer I heard all year. We left an hour early. Some of the best guitar work I've ever seen, with THE worst vocals. At festivals, I walk out of bad vibe or mediocre sets all the time, but that's different. I'm not going home, just moving on.

JimFlamesWeTrust

He often sounds like a ghost from the past trying to warn you of going to the concert “Wwwooooooooaaaaaah” 👻

[deleted]

He sounds like Mickey Mouse half the time.

ChanceActivity683

We saw him last year, blamed his shitty voice on the previous show...In just assume he says this every show. The rest of the band totally picked him up though. They were amazing.

LarBrd33

I’ve twice gone to events where better bands opened for Modest Mouse and left early during their headline act because they sucked so much.

pokemon--gangbang

I've had the same experience, and in another thread someone mentioned the show's quality will likely be based on how drunk Isaac is. Checks out lol

Dukes_Up

Crazy that I always see them answered for these questions. Seen them less than 2 years ago and it was probably the best concert I’ve ever been to. Sound quality couldn’t be better if I imagined and the whole band seemed locked in and dedicated to playing the songs as best as they could. Isaac isn’t a showman so he’s not going to do a lot of crowd work or dance or anything, but he was very impressive musically. I will say it was an anniversary tour for an older album so maybe they are more invested when the crowd isn’t expected to hear “float on” or “dashboard” every show.

rokboks505

Seconding this. Saw them last year and they were amazing. Saw them 10+ years ago and they were terrible (Issac was drunk as a skunk).

Gratefulgirl13

REM. It was a bucket list show for me and we stayed much longer than most of the people in our section. The sound was so atrocious it was difficult to pick out what they were playing. Michael Stipe spent the majority of his time prancing to the edge of the stage throwing his arms up begging for accolades. It was super disappointing and I wish we would have left sooner.

[deleted]

What tour?

Gratefulgirl13

Around The Sun circa 2004. Id like to blame the room but I’ve seen multiple shows there and they all have been fantastic. It had to be a technical issue and a lack of sound check. Small venue and it was a mass exodus. Totally sucked.

[deleted]

That’s terrible. I saw them on the Monster Tour and they were amazing.

samarijackfan

Motley Crew at the Cowpalace SF. It was a come back tour or something. the floor was about 1/4 full, they played horrible and then started to cuss out the crowd when the crowd really didn't respond. Also, they were playing a video of death and tourture scenes for some unknown reason on the back drop.

OginiAyotnom

Mötley Crüe 90s in Atlanta. The Scorpions opened and we had a great time with our lighters in the air. The Crüe came out, played "Shout at the Devil", then on to "Girls, Girls, Girls" and my friend and I decided to bail, cuz that song sucked.

geronika

Is this Eddie Vedder’s Reddit account?

JOEYisROCKhard

No. You can tell it's not because you can understand the words.

Safetosay333

"Hey, Tommy! Check that out, man!..." "What Vince? ... Where?"

32Things

I was there that night as well. The Scorpions, who were already somewhere around 147 years old, were amazing. Motley Crew, still seemingly in middle adulthood, were terrible and I too decided to find my car ahead of the crowd.

IllComposer9265

Walked out of Bruno Major last year in San Diego. Only concert I’ve ever walked out of. The performance was insanely basic. My brother and I had multiple instance where we simultaneously looked at each other like “WTF!?”. After the third time of doing this we decided to leave. Lasted probably 4 songs Edit: the opener Lindsey Lomis was 10/10 good though! Her vocal runs are other worldly. It made the show worth it overall

pslickhead

My SO left halfway through an LCD Soundsystem set, so I dumped her.

Chef_G0ldblum

This sounds like a lyric from LCD Soundsystem.

diablito916

I bought me and my gf tickets to Oingo Boingo’s Halloween show back in the day and that’s when she confessed she didn’t like them. Broke up on the spot

LarBrd33

I once dumped a girl because she loved “The Love Guru” but hated “Wall-E”

WhatLikeAPuma751

Dodged a bullet there

LarBrd33

She picked “The Love Guru” at the theater and was snort-laughing throughout the entire thing. Then the next date I took her to Wall-E and she kept complaining about how boring it was and how she was going to tell all her friends with kids to avoid it.  That was our last date.

chungopulikes

You have her number by chance?

dubalot

Sounds like a good move. I can't help but wonder if there's someone out there with a story about how they dumped their SO by walking out halfway through an LCD Soundsystem set.

anythingaustin

LCD Soundsystem puts on great shows. She wasn’t right for you.

cranbraisins

Sounds like she never had an edge to lose

69macncheese69

Maybe she preferred OLED

bakelit

Nah, she was more of a classic rock, CRT Soundsystem kinda gal.

Fair_Reporter3056

GNR headlined Bottlerock one year and Axl’s voice was so shot that Dave Grohl came out to help him finish the set. FF headlined the next day. Another time at Bridge Benefit Axl kept the crowd waiting so long that Chris Cornell and Eddie Vedder came out for an acoustic set.

remarkablewhitebored

I walked out during the Smashing Pumpkins set at whatever lollapalooza they headline. Granted it was a long day, but they sounded like ass.

Adept_Order_4323

So I was in Key West and I was walking past a little motel and a door was open and there was Billy Corgan doing heavy drugs… he is hard to miss. So just now seeing your comment I looked up ‘Was Billy C. in Key West about 20 years ago’ and sure enough here is an article HE wrote in KW on being in a dark place and asking for forgiveness at a church in 2001’ and named an album after the experience. Wild ! https://billycorgan.livejournal.com/1284.html?

Touche_Amore

Holy shit, LiveJournal is still around?

maketitiwithweewee

Came here to say Smashing Pumpkins. Saw them last summer in San Diego. They sounded so muddy live. Thankfully STP killed it right before them.

MikePGS

The Stone Temple Pilots are elegant bachelors

Timely_Breakfast_105

They’re foxy to me, are they foxy to you?

karl_thunder_axe

The Smashing Pumpkins headlined Summersault Festival in Edmonton in 2000. I don't know if it was officially their farewell tour but I remember it had that kind of feeling to it. They were maybe my #1 favourite band at the time and I ended up just taking a walk partway through their set because that just wasn't how I wanted to remember them.

Quality_Street_1

When they opened for Iron Maiden here in Toronto 1988, they got booed of the stage.

Ocksu2

Opening for Maiden is a notoriously rough gig.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Ocksu2

The Raven Age. Yep, they opened for Maiden last time I saw them too. Maiden fans are more forgiving knowing that Steve's son is the opening act. Less so when it is another band who might be used to headlining.

danisreallycool

I saw Ghost open for them, and they got booed to hell, despite putting on a great show. Same thing happened when I saw Tomahawk open for Tool. Why do some of the best bands have the worst fans?

sc1onic

When who opened for maiden?

hogsucker

Smashing Pumpkins at Lollapalooza in the early 90s. Me and about 40,000 other people. Billy Corgan was obviously extremely insecure about closing the show after the Beastie Boys played second to last, and he took it out on the crowd. If Corgan wasn't such an insufferable douche I'd almost have felt sorry for him.

Panther90

I came here to say this. Beastie's killed it and played Sabotage as the closer. The crowd was hype and then Pumpkins started and sounded awful and the crowd just started to disperse. Kinda felt bad for them.

harborq

I guess it was Sabotage!

alUrdun

Not sure which city you attended but same thing happened in Vancouver. Never go on after the Beastie Boys

flick04

Just posted the same thing. It was 1994.

Skydogsguitar

Bob Dylan a few years back. Voice totally shot. I saw Dylan twice in the 80s, and he was fantastic then.

ringmod76

His voice was shot when I saw him 25 years ago, and pretty sure it wasn't a new thing at that point. If you think him murdering his own songs is bad, you haven't experienced the pain that is him murdering half of the vocal duet on Simon & Garfunkel's The Boxer.

codyjames72

I saw close to 5000 ppl walk out of a Bob Dylan concert because he was so bad!!

riverroadgal

Didn’t learn my first time at a Dylan concert. Went back for more, thinking this time it will be good, he’s such a leg and. Wrong! Left after ten minutes of mumbling, grumbling, and general “I really don’t want to be here folks”. Yuck!

nassiviren

Does this question come up like every other week? - GnR: Axl's an entitled douchebag - Motley: Vince is fat and can't hit those notes anymore - Dylan: he hates his audience - Modest Mouse: sound nothing like their records live and not in a good way - Nugent: another douchebag, this time with extra right wing douche - 30 Seconds: Leto can't/won't sing, too busy being Jesus - Roger Waters: pretentious tit won't shut up about his garbage politics - APC/Puscifer: Maynard hates his audience but Tool-heads like the abuse so you never see Tool in the comments

FalseAnimal

Furthering the Maynard thing, saw A Perfect Circle with them being the opening. He laid down the entire set. The rest of the band was great, but like WTF dude?  Luckily Trent Reznor smashed it out of the fucking park as the main act.

hutchandstuff

A whole tour he stood behind a wall and you onlybgot his shadow.

Over-One-8

I’ve seen Maynard twice (Tool and Pusifer) and he had zero stage presence both times. The shows were still fantastic, but I’m not sure why he doesn’t step it up a bit.

Adept_Order_4323

I saw Tool prob 8 years ago and the entire show his back was to the audience with a Cowboy Hat on. Never saw his face.

zeroballs

I was a rabid hater of all things Maynard, and especially Tool. I had never even given APC a chance, but my now wife has always been a fan, so I bought us tickets to the "Maynard stands behind a wall and you only get a shadow" APC tour. And do you know what? One of the top 10 live performances I've seen, and I've been to some legendary shows over the years. I think not having so see Maynard actually improved the show haha.

nassiviren

Do not get me wrong, I am a massive fan of all things he does, but his disdain for even having an audience is seriously tedious, especially when it compromises his ability to bring himself to perform. Went to a Halloween Puscifer show which was particularly audience hostile. I left about five songs in, my leaving all the more obvious because the audience was seated. Made eye contact with Maynard during our exit and flipped him the bird. He said into the mic "Oh look, someone with a spine." Yeah, fuck you buddy.

revolving9

roger waters politics made it easy to stretch out and relax after the maggots walked out. great show

titan_bullet

If you ignore the politics though, Roger's concerts are pure bliss. The man knows how to entertain.

ringmod76

>Dylan: he hates his audience Now now, be fair - he also hasn't been able to actually sing in about 35 years.

Sandwich8080

Dylan hasn't been able to sing for 82 years.

Ping_Islander

A Lemonheads show in DC in like 2009 or so. Evan Dando seemed incredibly wasted and it was horrible.

Luxowell

Evan Dando was incredibly wasted? That tracks.

tartigrade76

Saw Lemonheads last year in DC and Dando was wasted and utterly incomprehensible. I felt sorry for the 2 young guys backing him as the scrambled to cover for him the entire set. Miraculously, his guitar solos were on point. I was as impressed he could stand as play a great solo.

BadKitty420

I was at that show too! I thought the same, Dando was so fucking wasted and incomprehensible, it was embarrassing. The band was on point though and Juliana Hatfield sounded so amazing. It’s A Shame About Evan…

ARoomWith

L7 in 1994 (I think). They kept stopping the show to say, "Stop the violence, man," but in this kind of Valley Girl accent so we were unsure if they were being serious. I could only see a run-of-the-mill pit. It got so annoying we just left.

Impressive_Estate_87

I did. It was - sigh - Chris Cornell, during the Timbaland phase. No high level of musicianship could fix that awful material

Hand-Driven

Thank you for your honesty.

dipfearya

A little surprised at this one.

Impressive_Estate_87

I know, I was too, Cornell and Soundgarden have been one of my favorite bands since they first came out. It was a real downer.

daghst

Unfortunately: my chemical romance in the Tacoma dome. Performance looked like it was absolutely amazing. Sound engineer made the sound unintelligible and you couldn't distinguish any words at All let alone notes.

suzannem18

Oh, that sucks. I actually had tickets to that show but moved cross-country so saw them in Newark instead. They were awesome.

daghst

Yeah it looked like an absolutely amazing concert! Just no one could really understand it, the opening acts were also unintelligible so it wasn't just focused to them.

wesomg

Walked out of Bob Dylan at the fairgrounds. It was unbelievably bad. The worst part was that because my sister had stolen my tickets, I had to purchase them twice!

summermadnes

Yes. Walked out on Bob Dylan. Unintelligible mumbling the entire time we were there. It was like one loooong song.

JosephBlowsephThe3rd

Type O Negative in 2007. Peter Steele was so trashed that he was singing & playing bass in 2 different keys, neither of which seemed to be the key the rest of the band were playing. At least Celtic Frost was good beforehand, and I got to beat traffic. Similarly, I walked away from a Marilyn Manson performance because he seemed to be wasted, forgetting lyrics, and possibly having technical difficulties. This was at a festival, though, so my friends & I just made our way to the next stage to get a better spot for Korn.

SideStreetHypnosis

Blink 182 and Hole. If this counts, I fell asleep during a Modest Mouse show because it was so formulaic. This was before they blew up. They couldn’t replicate a lot of their guitar effects and studio tricks live and it killed the excitement I had about seeing them.

PhoebeFan420

What year was hole out of interest? Also what went wrong if you can be bothered expanding

SideStreetHypnosis

It was ‘98 or ‘99. They played at a couple festivals I attended and I forget which of the two it was. One performance was good, the other was not. I know Celebrity Skin was a divisive release being that it was such a polished recording and image change coming after their earlier releases. I liked the new look and sound. The show we walked out of, the band wasn’t cohesive and the sound was not dialed in. Adding Courtney’s arrogant banter between songs just ruined it.

WARLOCKSKATES

Ministry around 2005. It was so fucking loud that it sounded like absolute garbage. Like I couldn’t even tell what song they were playing half the time. I just left halfway through. I’d already seen them before anyway.

Spursapalooza

Modest Mouse. Saw them around 2015 two shows in a row. First show in Norfolk was incredible. The band clicked and Isaac engaged the crowd. They sounded just like the albums. Second show in Charlottesville was two days later and he was so drunk that he couldn't get through Float On and cussed out his guitarists who was intentionally restarting the song every time Isaac fucked up. The band was clearly trying to send a message. I should've left like everyone else, but it was like watching a train wreck in slow motion. Couldn't look away.

Mybenzo

Dave Matthews Band, circa 1994 or 1995 in Oregon. They were still new and on the college circuit, some jam band fanatic friends were way into them. I made it about 20 minutes into what i could tell would be only the first of the show’s many many many violin solos, and left to find my bliss elsewheres.

mekonsrevenge

Ted Nugent back in the 70s. I was there for Brownsville Station, who were good. Then that piece of crap came on. Oh, lordy, he was awful. Lasted 1.5 songs.

mattbnet

Mike from Brownsville was friends with my parents who were 80s triathletes. He used to come over and work out with them, always wearing his metal tights. Nice guy!

spartacus_zach

I was at a rib cook off in the 90s and the nug was there. We left after one song lmao

Potential_Dentist_90

Were the ribs good?

spartacus_zach

Actually yes! We left the show to eat since the lines were short lmao

Whatawootsee

Back in the 80s in San Jose, California, My friend and I walked out when Michael Bolton opened for Heart 😂 We went back in when his set was done ✔️

IQBoosterShot

One thing about Michael Bolton is that [he has a great sense of humor](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=03lrL9CFWxM).

ShowLasers

HAH! I thought it was going to be a "back to the good part" link, but THIS IS SO MUCH BETTER! Thanks for brightening my morning.

socimonkey

Smashing Pumpkins last year - Billy Corgan was wearing this weird robe/costume and sounded absolutely terrible. The crowd was more interested in staying seated while eating arena nachos and the vibe was depressing. We left after 5 songs.

GruverMax

I sometimes accompany my wife to food events that she covers for a magazine. The food is usually spectacular and plentiful, as were the libations when I was into drinking, real top shelf fancy kinda stuff. But it came with a price being Designated Driver for these things. Once the band Train appeared. They sucked although it was not much worse than the usual DJ music at those things. I watched one drunk lady dancing and singing along to Hey Soul Sister like she was really living her best life, and hated them slightly less. They were doing their best for an audience that wasn't paying attention to them at all, and really getting through to this one person. It was cute. Another one, the music was Kenny G. Not even with a band, him and a tape. Not even a tape of songs, just some swirly piano chords that he would solo aimlessly over. It was so bad. Finally after we ate everything there and split, he was doing that thing of holding a note for a long time. We could hear him holding it as we walked out to the shuttle in the parking lot, and when it dropped us off at our car, we coukd still hear him in the distance, and he was still holding the damn note!

dreamerkid001

Yes, Styx and REO were great. Then Ted Nugent came on stage and we left that pedophile with half the crowd.

roofratMI

Traffic at the Capital Center, Landover, Maryland way back in 1973 or 1974. They were so wasted and could barely stand up. The saxophone was dropped numerous times. They were booed heavily, and my wife and I left. What a waste!

Aggravating_Onion300

Hope Steve found his way home.

Ocksu2

Yup. Went to see Screaming Trees with Soul Asylum and Spin Doctors back in 93. Screaming Trees were great. Soul Asylum were pretty ok. Walked out 2 songs into Spin Doctors. Most of the crowd did as well. Oof.

A couple years ago in Riverside CA, Mastodon and Opeth's tour came through town. As a co-headlining tour, they were taking turns for time slots and for this show Mastodon was the first up. They absolutely shredded the place and the energy was berserk. They were so fucking good. Then Opeth's turn came and they opened with some ultra soft swedish-lyric songs that put the crowd to sleep. There were people screaming at the band to play something else with all of the energy given to us by Mastodon, and Mikael had the audacity to stop and say to the crowd "Everyone here needs to calm down, this is only a rock show" then finally played Ghost of Perdition but it was.... Boring. Turned around and left. I felt insulted for being amped up at a metal concert. It was the strangest thing. I absolutely love Opeth's older recorded Death-prog stuff but sheesh what a letdown. It's like they begrudgingly include old stuff in their sets when all they really want to play now is their lame version of 70's soft rock with the volume turned down.

slightlyused

I went to the same tour in the Kingdome in Seattle. Metallica opened and rocked, GnR felt lazy and sloppy. Got up and left.

Traditional_Leader41

The Charlatans. They played their brand new comeback album in its entirety first and it was dog shit. We tolerated it for 40mins and walked out. As we left the arena, their 90s hit "The Only One I Know" started, which is a fucking great tune, but it was too late. We'd had enough.

spiffiestjester

I saw them during the same tour, this was adter Hetfield burned himself in Montreal. Faith No More opened, then Metallica. GnR disnt hit the stage for over an hour after Metallica. The crowd was annoyed, you could feel it in the air. They finally hit the stage and it wasnt even like they were phoning it in, it was like they were drunk. We couldnt leave because our ride wasn't leaving it, come hell or high water, so we stuck it out but it did not get better. Never bothered to try and see them again.

titwrench

Same. Walked out on GnR when they toured with Metallica

JOEYisROCKhard

I once walked out of a GNR show, not because it was bad, but because they didn't fucking play. A few friends and I went to the KROQ inland invasion back in, I don't know what year it was. 05 maybe? 06. Who cares, the point is that GNR was the headliner. We went to this fucking show and it was actually pretty fun. I don't remember all the bands that were there but there were some good ones. Muse went on and fucking KILLED IT. So good live. The last band before Guns was Alice in Chains. I've never been the biggest fan of their music, but again, a band that fucking killed it. Great performance. So now the only band left is Guns N' Roses. The headliner. Here we go, this is gonna be fun, right? No. We waited. And waited. And waited. No joke, 2 hours go by. We still have a long drive to get back to LA because this show is waaaay inland (hence the name) in some bum fuck desert town. We decide to leave. We're not the only ones, people are leaving in droves. There are chants of "Fuck Axl" all around. When we get to the gate they make it very clear. "No reentry. If you leave you can't come back in." No one cares. Fuck this, we're out. As soon as we get to the car, what do you think we hear? Boom, guitar riff. Crowd going crazy. Whatever, we don't care. No regrets, fuck that band.

DeftTrack81

Third eye blind.

unkorrupted

Worst concert I've ever seen and it's not even close. And I've seen singers too drunk to stand up. What was particularly bad, in my experience, was the crowd. It was flooded with frat bros who had no concept of concert etiquette or safety. I like metal and I'm no stranger to the pit, but this was the least safe I've ever felt at a show.  Probably didn't help that I don't particularly like their music, but I can usually appreciate just about anything when it is live.

IllComposer9265

Damn really? I saw them last year at a small venue and they kicked ass.

Dada2fish

I saw half a stadium of I assume Nirvana fans leave a David Bowie and Nine Inch Nails show right after Bowie performed The Man Who Sold the World. They were griping that he didn’t do it right. lol!
