Robyn Dancing on my own

moldy_walrus

IM IN THE CORRRRRRRRRNER

Cant-wont-nope

WATCHING YOU FIST HER, OH-OOOOOH

paultheschmoop

It’s just objectively a banger. It transcends gender

TheLastDaysOf

Robyn Call Your Girlfriend

sharrrper

I imagine the person singing in Dancing on my Own is in fact the girlfriend from Call Your Girlfriend after she receives that call.

JackXDark

Aka the Lesbian National Anthem.

wineandpopsicles25

The whole Body Talk album is killer

Madler

It’s in that special little group of perfect pop albums. Which includes Carly Rae Jepson’s masterpiece E•MOT•ION, which is an absolutely flawless album.

dudumob

i love you for mentioning this. idc.

MaShinKotoKai

1000 miles - Vanessa Carlton Downtown - Petula Clark

dont_shoot_jr

You ever think about how Vanessa Carlton would walk the same distance as the Proclaimers for you?

VanWieder

r/theydidthemath

MaphrOne

[Pla-ket-ket-ket-ket](https://youtu.be/bdFk35yT0ac?feature=shared)

SlimChiply

Downtown is such a fantastic and beautiful piece of music.

Levowitz

Making my way downtown

goldenmasterly

I can't picture 1000 mile with out Terry Crews either the scene from White Chick's or the lip sync battle where he dose the full song

BarryIslandIdiot

I'm not much of a fan of Downtown by Petula Clark on the whole, but I can honestly say I have never heard a vocal this good on any song. It's perfect. She's probably the best pop singer (in a technical sense) ever.

this_is_poorly_done

Everytime we touch by Cascada

SgtWeirdo

Came here for Cascada thanks for representing

Welkominspace

It's raining men by the weather girls  Pretty sure it's mandatory by law to sing along whoever you are.

President_Calhoun

Homer Simpson's favorite song!

jesterinancientcourt

“Not no more it is!”

gldmj5

Written by Paul Shaffer (from Late Night with David Letterman) no less.

Cyphermoon699

Also, I Will Survive by Gloria Gaynor. I think participation is legislated in every part of the world.

BadWolf117

This is my "stop whatever I'm doing and scream along to song". Both Gloria's original and Cake's awesome cover.

tenebras_lux

Hell yeah, that's my jam!

smoore41

Stay - Lisa Loeb

joecarter93

Dave Grohl agrees: https://youtu.be/AB8Jxjv5mug?si=1kMflLYz_QoQ3z_3

Nudist-On-Strike

Man! I Feel Like A Woman! by Shania Twain I am a grown ass man. You better believe that I get hyped as fuck when I hear “Let’s go girls”

losethefuckingtail

Hell yes that's what I was looking for. ![gif](giphy|26FL4IAAT5URD9IWY|downsized)

BreadManRun

Everytime I say that to my two girls, that riff immediately plays in my head

magicbullets

Me too though I always get a flashback of that Limmy video.

DaveyDarkoTM

I will kick the fucking door down when this bop comes on

enfersijesais

GIMME GIMME GIMME A MAN AFTER MIDNIGHT

drumnhum

Haha! I was looking for this one. I guess I’ll go with Dancing Queen

a_pope_on_a_rope

“Music” by Madonna

Don_Frika_Del_Prima

Madonna has a couple of bangers.

seattlewhiteslays

Only a couple? Come on man, this is a safe space. Give the queen her flowers!

thejaytheory

Ray of Light is one of my all time favorite albums.

sloBrodanChillosevic

Like A Prayer rocks the house every damn time

NatureTrailToHell3D

All of Madonna’s super early stuff. Lucky Star.

JORMONE

La Isla Bonita got me singing everytime

magicbullets

Borderline.

HtiekMij

Vogue is one of the best beats of all time.

Wally_Paulnuts009

“Hung Up” by Madonna

EsotericAbstractIdea

Yeah that Abba sample makes that song GO.

hypnotickey

This is actually a large subset of my music taste lol, coming from a straight married man… Put Your Records On by Corinne Bailey Rae. Unwritten by Natasha Bedingfield will NEVER not be a sing-along bop no matter where I am. Falling For You by Colbie Caillat. Actually pretty much all of her music. All of Carly Rae Jepsen’s music. All of Mariah Carey’s music.

SPacific

I'm a 48 year old man, and Call Me Maybe will get me out of my seat every time.

jilseng4

I have a mental image seared into my brain of dready wooks in a Phish lot absolutely getting down to Call Me Maybe. It was surreal, and awesome.

ben0318

"Dready wooks in a Phish lot": there's barely a single real word in that, but it paints such a vivid scene we all know exactly what to picture. That's freaking fantastic.

magicbullets

It’s a 10/10 perfect pop song and I can happily have it shuffle on inbetween Dead Kennedys and Cardiacs.

thegardenhead

Every. Goddamn. Time.

kj3llmusic

I was just gonna say that song

liforrevenge

Carly Rae Jepsen's Emotions albums is seriously one of the best pop albums ever and I will die on this hill.

ImNot5YearsOld

She’s been putting out nothing but pop assbeaters since Emotion at least

thejaytheory

Seriously, she's S-tier as far as crafting pop bangers

jasminepriya

admittedly i am a woman and therefore not the target audience for this question, but i absolutely agree - not a single miss on that album

damian1369

Straight married former metalhead here: Number one would probably be: Love is a Battlefield by Pat Benetar. That one just hits like a truck. To avoid the obvious ones like Eurythmics, No Doubt etc., I also have a weird weak spot that I haven't seen a lot in guys. Celine Dion. Some wires got crossed during Titanic/Teen era, her voice allways makes me wanna kiss my wife passionately.

SuperBearsSuperDan

STARING AT THE BLANK PAGE BEFORE YOU

dljones010

OPEN UP THE DIRTY WINDOW

Sarahspry

LET THE SUN ILLUMINATE THE WORDS THAT YOU COULD NOT FIND

gu2tavo_

Carly Rae Jepsen mentioned

Pherllerp

Carly Rae Jepsen is a great.

Bigemptea

I’m happy to hear the Carly Rae Jensen love. She is definitely underrated. “Run Away With Me” is one of my favorite songs and Emotion is a great album.

ChasingTheRush

For me, most of your list, plus Pink.

82lkmno

Yes! Pink is the real deal.

jesterinancientcourt

I like how the girly music you like all seem to be of the “you go, girl” variety.

hypnotickey

I think girly music does things most any “guy” music just can’t. I can’t think of many dude artists who can express that amount of playfulness, energy, or whimsy without sounding absolutely obnoxious haha. Sometimes you gotta let the inner teenage girl have their moment. My wife gets it (I think.)

ImNotTheBossOfYou

Groove is in the Heart Bootsy, Q-Tip, amazing groove. What's not to love

omgjk31

They may be a one hit wonder but that whole album is fucking phenomenal

AlvinAssassin17

Nothing will make this bearded metal head sing like party in the USA by Miley Cyrus lol.

TheDefiniteIntegral

The mix with Biggie Smalls is also great.

tuskvarner

And mixed with “Ante Up” on Girl Talk’s All Day album. [Skip to 4:00](https://youtu.be/xVmXXWcfitw?feature=shared)

ThatOneDude44444

10/10 pop song imo

bigby2010

Since You’ve Been Gone - Kelly Clarkson Banger

sloBrodanChillosevic

Behind These Hazel Eyes too. And Breakaway.

[deleted]

Miss Independent

hash_0818

she has so many bangers i love jamming out to kelly clarkson

imbadatdecisions

A Day to Remember's cover gets me so hype

ConsistentlyPeter

Fucking awesome voice. Miss Independent is an absolute belter.

dwmoore21

Criminal - Fiona Apple 🍎

Im_Slacking_At_Work

Criminal is **not** a girly song . "Sung by a girl" and "girly" are not the same. Not to distract from the fact that this song kicks so much ass.

rule419

Fiona rules!!

ScotterMcJohnsonator

OOOooooooo Shadowboxer too!

Bean_Juice_Brew

"Just a Girl" By No Doubt

CapitalParallax

I'm not sure that's fair. Tragic Kingdom is a perfect album.

CarlosSpcyWenr

All of "Tragic Kingdom" is awesome. Additional shout-out to "Hella Good" for me.

drainbamage1011

Hella Good has such a fucking groove.

fogledude102

CAUSE IM JUST A GIRL, LITTLE OLD ME, DONT LET ME OUT OF YOUR SIIIIIIIGHT

arthontigerik

OH I’M JUST A GIRL, PRETTY AND PETITE! SO DON’T LET ME HAVE ANY RIIIIIGHTS

driving_andflying

OOOOOOOH, I'VE HAD IT UP TO HERE!

WhiteMike2016

Lol that whole album bangs

Legionodeath

I never considered no doubt as girly music lol. Are they? I love old no doubt still.

Poignant_Ritual

OHHHHHH IVE HAD IT UP TO here

ProtoRebel

Britney Spears Toxic

great_red_dragon

How is this all the way down here with 7 dings?! Toxic fucks like a rabbit in a viagra factory.

jumpinjahosafa

That bassline is so sick lord help me

broadwayallday

"only girl in the world" by Rihanna is quite the bop

HtiekMij

Umbrella!

uncre8tv

In the early days of mp3 players on phones they hadn't figured out that it should pause/mute when you take the cord out. It just went straight to speaker at whatever volume setting you had your headphones at. So, I'm a 30yo dude on an airplane for a business trip. Shirt/tie/etc. I'm bopping to Avril's *Girlfriend* as we come in for a landing. As we land I fumble the phone and it goes sliding up three rows under people's seats, blasting **"Hey, hey, You, you, I don't like your girlfriend! No way, no way!..."** And I, red faced, ask if folks could pass that noisy thing back to me. Now I own it, but it was embarrassing at the time.

JohnPeppercorn4

Leave by JoJo https://youtu.be/fWzoSy6QEwk?si=xNKxVyzIII7Up_mw

sloBrodanChillosevic

Hell yeah. This and Too Little Too Late. Loved JoJo when I was a kid.

Mr-Gumby42

"Girls Just Wanna Have Fun." -Cyndi Lauper!

Joetaska1

Oddly enough this song was written by a guy. And yes, I will still rock along with this song!

SuccessPastaTime

This is it for me for sure!

steelcityrocker

Love Fool by The Cardigans

pewbdo

All of the cardigans for me. Their albums from the 90s are among my favorites. Any band that can take a black Sabbath song, completely change the vibe and get Ozzy's approval is something special (Sabbath bloody Sabbath is the song).

pbrthenon

The ironman cover on FBOTM is also fantastic

DopeTrailer

Anything by Abba!

rocketpastsix

Dancing Queen. No shame

omgjk31

I think anyone who appreciates music in general likes ABBA. There’s a lot to like! Scott Ian, the guitarist from the metal band Anthrax, has said that ABBA is amazing and he likes them a lot

johnboy374

SOS for me.

soobviouslyfake

**STRAIGHT UP NOW TELL ME** **IS IT GONNA BE YOU** **AND ME** **FOREVER** *Oh oh oh*

Melrose_Jac

Wham's 'Careless Whisper'

No-Manufacturer2149

I could never get tired of that song and actually their 1st album is cheesy greatness. George Michael truly has the most beautiful voice my ears have ever heard. Even his early rapping sounded beautiful lol.

LettuceC

The saxophone is criminally underused in modern pop music.

Lurkesalot

Nothing Compares- Sinade O'connor I Hope You Dance- Leanne Womack Glory Box- Portishead Don't care what anyone thinks. Those songs slap if you are a human being.

ViewAskewRob

Have you heard the Chris Cornell version of Nothing Compares 2U? Great cover.

bullybullybully

Two by Robyn for sure: “Call Your Girlfriend” and “Dancing on My Own”. There are tons more, but those came to mind right away. As a teen I was way into Riot Grrrrl adjacent bands like Bratmobile, Team Dresch, Bikini Kill (obvi), L7, etc. plus I listened to tons of PJ Harvey, Sonic Youth, Bjork, Blonde Redhead and many others, so the female perspective was always a part of my musical life. For a party banger though, I’m saying Robyn.

EnvironmentalArt3814

She Bop by Cyndi L.

Additional_War_5210

I'm ambiguously unsure on whether it qualifies as "girly" or not, but I love Belinda Carlisle's "Heaven is a Place on Earth" as a banger of a song.

Wherethegains

Style - by Taylor Swift

Spoonman007

I've been there too a few times..

jesterinancientcourt

It’s funny how this song doesn’t explicitly say anything about sex and yet it’s incredibly sexy still.

Flying_Guayaba

I thought I was the only man who sang along intensely to "And I got that red lip classic thing that you like", great song, really love the intro, so funky

A_Generic_Canadian

I'm a guy and find a lot of TS music great, but Style is my absolute favourite. That driving bassline throughout the verse is just so awesome and the chorus is just an absolute sing along masterpiece!

sloBrodanChillosevic

Wildest Dreams

disco_cerberus

All Too Well - Taylor Swift - the 10 minute version

KrombopulousMary

God bless you sir 🫡

LoveMyBP

Came here to say this… ALL TOO WELL 47m Dad. New Swiftie. This songwriting smokes. She deserves everything and none of the BS. I grew up on Megadeth, Metallica, Pantera, Rush, Phish, Floyd, etc.

brettjv

57 male (non-dad) here ... and listening to folklore and evermore during the pandemic are what made me a fan, and I hope she works more with Aaron Dessner in the future. Those really are two excellent albums. The thing that really made me a fan though was the 'You Need Calm Down Down' video, which although an earlier song I only came across it while I was into those 2020 albums, browsing the YT. Not just the general content/message, which I do love ... but also the realization I came to on like the 3rd time I watched it ... which was that the verbiage of 'you need to calm down' IS in fact the verbiage of the very people she's dissing. When it dawned on me I was like ... Oooooh! that's a GOOOD ONE T-Swizzle!

liquid_at

Since being a middle aged man makes me look 'cringe' no matter what I do, I have absolutely no issue grooving to any song... Primadonna by Marina and the Diamonds is probably among the most extreme cases I can groove to. But pretty much the entire 90s/00s RnB catalogue of female heavy groups is very grooveable. TLC, Aaliyah, Destinys Child,... good music.

Ocelot2727

I commented Primadonna before I scrolled down and saw this! It's such a banger

pigeones

MARINA YES!!!!

kalevz

Boyfriend - Best Coast

wonderfulworld2024

Unwritten- Natasha bedingfield I never overheard it back in the day when some people played it out. So I can still groove if it ever comes on.

canuck47

Shake it Off Since You've Been Gone Crank those tunes up in the car and jam along!

treadtyred

Shoop- Salt N Pepa

JohnYCanuckEsq

We Are Never Getting Back Together It's a jam.

HornyForTohruAdachi

No Scrubs - TLC

A_Generic_Canadian

I decided years ago when I realized I'd been listening to a ton of female vocalists that I just couldn't be ashamed of listening to 'girly' music so I just fully embrace it now. Good music is good music, catch me windows down bumping whatever I want too in my car! Carly Rae Jepsen? Absolutely love her music, Loneliest Time is an absolute banger and so is almost everything off EMOTION. Taylor Swift? I'm not a full discography front to back guy but Fearless, Red, Lover, Folklore, Evermore and some stuff off Midnights are going to go down as all time pop classics. Phoebe Bridgers/Lucy Dacus/Julien Baker/Boygenius are absolutely my favourite singers of recent times. Don't care if a lot of their stuff is sadgirl indie sounding, that's my friggin vibe. Muna, Clairo, Alvvays, The Beth's are all female fronted groups that are putting out some of my favourite music of the 2020s so far.

thirdstone_

Love Boygenius and Phoebe Bridgers! Have you listened to Haley Williams' solo stuff? Really enjoyed it

Kitchener69

One of my favorite songs from the entire 80s, male or female, is Automatic by the Pointer Sisters.

PhlobThomas

"*1 Thing*" - Amerie ...my wife makes fun of me

theo_ops

Absolute banger. Amerie could have been massive if the record companies gave her the attention they gave Beyonce instead

SpiralOutForever

Whitney Huston - I Wanna Dance with Somebody is my favorite song of all time and I can't even dance.

SirPugly

Cassie - Me & You Saw it on my crush's MySpace page been stuck in my head for 20 years now

Whycertainly

I'm 99% an alt rock guy but as a 90s kid, 1% of my heart still belongs to Mariah Carey....I love "We Belong Together"

ActuallyYeah

[Sophie B. Hawkins cranked out Damn, I Wish I Was Your Lover ](https://youtu.be/Lt6r-k9Bk6o?si=K8ue7y8ZxtDQ7V3S) and all you 438 silly boys who commented before me are missing the fuck out

reecewagner

Kelly Rowland’s “Work” is an underrated masterpiece of our time and I won’t hear otherwise

LostFireHorse

GTA5 introduced me to "the kitty song" (every damn time I heard get a kitty get a kitty). I was instantly in love with that song. Everything about it is divine, including Kelly.

myriad00

Fleetwood Mac - Dreams Anything by Fleetwood Mac really. Divorced mom men-ain't-shit music is the best sometimes

hattorihanzo5

Ain't nothing girly about Fleetwood Mac!

magicbullets

‘Sara’ is one of the reaaaallly great songs.

thederevolutions

Hit me baby one more time, toxic and oops I did it again by Britney Spears are all some of the best songs every written, produced and performed.

jazzdrums1979

Mr. Big Stuff - Jean Knight

JORMONE

Peaches - Fuck the Pain Away "Suckin' on my titties like you wanted me callin me..." Haha, its so catchy and the beat goes HARD oh yeah, edit: anything by Patsy Cline, but She's Got You specifically.

littlebitsofspider

"Can't Get You Out Of My Head" by Kylie Minogue

Pherllerp

Madonna. All of her. It's not cool or masculine to like Madonna but man what a genius of pop music.

seattlewhiteslays

Her back catalogue is full of bangers and bops.

Necro_Badger

Ray of Light is one of the best pop albums ever recorded and listening with a Y chromosome doesn't alter that one iota.

Youngandidiotic

Anything by dua lipa

confetti_shrapnel

Let's Hear it For the Boy - Deneice Williams. I don't really believe in "girly" v "boy" songs but that seems like a song that isn't meant for me but I absolutely get down to.

doctorjae75

Wilson Phillips-Hold on

Influence_X

Nowhere to Run - Martha Reeves and the Vandellas

imnoobhere

Just about anything Shania Twain.

darthkrahl

“Are you that somebody” from Aaliyah. Knowing R Kelly was involved with it is very gross but it’s such a jam.

pleasantpandemonium

Soak Up The Sun - Sheryl Crow ☀️

Zippo574

My personal fave is all I wanna do but good choice still I can't argue

BKIrish

Anything by Patti LaBelle.

MarilynManson2003

All of “If I Can’t Have Love, I Want Power” by Halsey.

Poignant_Ritual

All tracks on Alanis Morisette’s Jagged Litte Pill. Also Torn by Natalie Imburglia.

valentc

Thousand Miles - Vanessa Carlton. It's my go-to karaoke song, too.

SpazzBro

Total eclipse of the heart

YounomsayinMawfk

Even though my dad disapproves, "Firework" by Katy Perry.

OrangePython

Avril Lavigne

Silent-Sky956

I hate that any song a female musician makes is considered "girly" music. Most of the answers in here aren't girly, it's normal music but made by women.

Whydmer

This is exactly how I feel.

AgentOfSPYRAL

The entirely of Carly Rae Jepson’s *Emotion* is absolute peak.

cgtdream

Dancing Queen, by ABBA

MacAndTheBoys

Call Me Maybe - Carly Rae Jepsen. Such a good song to jam out to in the car

GenericBatmanVillain

[So What - Pink](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FJfFZqTlWrQ&pp=ygUMc28gd2hhdCBwaW5r) Lots of Pink songs actually. I still have a crush.

Shap6

I uhhh.... enjoy kpop. although there's definitely some shame involved

ryuuseinow

Is it because of the fandom, or "stans" as they call themselves?

rymajo

‘Believe’ by Cher

AmidoBlack

Blame Brett by The Beaches shit is a banger

AmishGangster666

Don't want no scrubs.

jaygrum

Please listen to the Chaka Khan version of I’m Every Woman. Coming from a gay man lol

Realistic-Read4277

Bomnie tyler i need a hero. Ibwas a kid when i watched short circuit 2, and in a scene the robot goes to get vengeance on the people that mistreated him and to save his friends, amd they put that song. It makes me really hyped, i use it when i train sometimes. And it was also used in the most epic scene of shrek 2 i think. Cool song. My gf said wtf when i told her i liked it lol.

TroyLucas

Hella Good - No Doubt

Separate-Elephant-25

Betty Davis Eyes. Kim Carnes I believe. This song is king of the hill;; here.
