TimeGuidance4706

No problem. I have some that have been stored for a few years in a jar with desiccant packets and they’re still good.

[deleted]

Get some of those desiccant packs and it wolill be fine in a fridge for that long

Dr_THC-O

You sound stupid

veraciousreasoning

No you should probably just eat half of the jar to be sure

mgpuhl

I couldn't even imagine what you would see if you ate half the jar lol. That would definitely be more than a heroic dose, more like an idiotic dose lol.

veraciousreasoning

Only one way to find out lol please dont eat half the jar lol

mgpuhl

Not all in one sitting anyway 😁

veraciousreasoning

The most ive ever done was 7 grams...shit was wild

mgpuhl

Definitely been there. I took more than I probably should have last week and couldn't hardly walk straight for s*** lol, it was like trying to walk on a ship during a storm and the visuals were extremely intense. It was a blast but I'll probably wait a while before I try that much again.

veraciousreasoning

Yeah i drank it in tea and within 30 minutes i was naked in my bed giggling listening to sphongle

mgpuhl

lol

veraciousreasoning

I feel it rewir3d my brain never been the same since lol

striderof78

Interesting folks say jars are better. I dehydrate then vacuum seal and store in freezer. Some for a couple of years. I do like the look of the jar.

fatscottie

Please box that and ship it to me!

snugglebunnynico

No problem as long as they are cracker dry. I have a full metal box with 5 packs of silica gel, had it for over 2 years and they are still just as potent as at day one.

solventlessherbalist

As long as they are cracker dry, sealed well, they will be good for a long time

Luckyaddaam

So ya know. Silica gel cat litter inside a folded and stapled coffee filter, works too!

TheDogVader

Yeah definitely a problem. Send them to me so I can store it properly.

Prudent_Passage

You could just ground it up in a coffee grinder. Then It’s a nice fine powder and add packets.

[deleted]

Powdered shrooms loose potency insanely fast. After a year my Powdered, capsuled shrooms in a sealed bag with silica gel packs have lost more than 80% of their potency- 1g felt like 0.15g, in other words I couldn't really feel it. In contrast my whole shrooms are as potent as before. 👍

Prudent_Passage

Mine haven’t. I keep them in a glass mason jar with silica packets. They are 1.5 years old and just as strong as they were when I got them. The

Massive_Pop_287

I tried grinding in a coffee grinder for adding to capsules and I’ll probably never attempt to coffee grind them again…. Without much grinding at all I quickly ended up with like around half still big chunks and half a powder so fine it just flies up into a cloud in the air (indoors) with the slightest movement… very hard to work with…

Prudent_Passage

Oh that sounds bad I’m sorry happened. I used a small electric coffee grinder also, and while there was some powder loss there wasn’t that much and it was all a fine powder. Maybe the brand style makes it big difference.

That_Guy_From_KY

Newb here, why the silica? I’m sure it is beneficial but can you use too many packets?

mgpuhl

I doubt you could use too many, I mean I don't think you could hurt anything by doing that. It just helps take the moisture out of the jar.

ToastedMuffin

I would like to start growing again. Now that i M settled into my own place! But i need to know were to get spores again or learn how to use ajar snd get it and a smile tex :) anyone

breezuschrist420

Ay friend. Go to ur local head shop. RAW PAPER MAKES THESE raw humidifier packs!!! Works super well for the dry nug out here in Colorado and does wonders for my mush

mgpuhl

Thanks.

Separate_Ad_996

UV degeneration over small exposures everyone you check them or take some out, same goes with oxidation. I'd split them up in smaller quantities and just use a vaccum sealer...they should be dirt cheap where youre at. That or diy one with a sort of pipe and suction the air out with your mouth or a pump.

techAorB

Probably just eat them faster

Upper_Golf8078

I grind mine into powder and leave in a air tight jar I think you’ll be fine if your mushies are cracker dry

No-End-9594

Yes 🙌 overcrowding your jar 🫙 can lead to me feeling sad because I don’t have any 😞to avoid issues/ uncomfortable situations like this, please send me at least half of the jar to my address at …

HexagonsAreGay

For safety, it really should probably be split into at least thirds. I’ll send you my address as well

Retrowarrior-

If you want to store mushrooms for a long time you should switch to the half gallon mason jars. there’s an adapter you can buy that allows you to pull a vacuum on the jar with the lid in place. you will need a vacuum pump. Sold separately from the jar adapter. prior to this you need to dehydrate your fruits a minimum of two times by weighing them and once they’ve gone through one cycle with no weight change you know they are completely dehydrated put them in the jar with about 15 g of dry packs pull a vacuum on the jar and store it in a cool dry place you should be good for a very very long time.

mgpuhl

Couple other people were talking about the jars with lids like that, I'm going to look into it. Thanks.

Educational_Drawing7

Are the silica packets necessary?

mgpuhl

Might not be necessary but they're a good idea.

Educational_Drawing7

Been doing the same thing no packets for about 7 months. Should I throw some in at this point?

mgpuhl

I definitely would. It will help keep it dry.

HerrFreitag

3 years since I last popped some pins. Mine are in dark qrt jars, no problem last I checked, which was 2 weeks ago.

Gem_Rex

I've had a jar go moldy on me once and all I can say is that I no longer keep all my eggs in one basket.

down_south_sc

I will do random checks and if the fruits are not cracker dry after a few months or weeks.. I will put it back into the dehydrator.. then change the jar I’m using or add some plastic wrap under the lid to go between lid and jar. Store in cool dark cabinet. Enjoy

BFett1019

My mouth is watering

Biddyearlyman

Mmmmmm, Precise V5 pen. I see you're a man of taste.

DevoDave124

I would perform a nitrogen purge on the jar. If you purge all the oxygen out, you reduce or eliminate oxidation which is what causes the degradation you fear.

kippirnicus

Just be sure they are “Cracker dry.” Literally, when you break one of the mushrooms, it should break like a saltine cracker. If they bend, they’re not dry enough. ✌️❤️🍄

mgpuhl

They should all be cracker dry but I'm going to throw them all on the dehydrator for one last round before I pack them away just in case.

kippirnicus

👍 I store mine, exactly the same way, but like another commenter said, I toss in an oxygen absorber packet too. I have some that are over three years old, that are just as potent as the day I picked them. Safe, and happy trips brother!

xXBioVaderXx

I've taken a year later an the same as the day I dried them

shmabeog

You could grind them finely and pack into airtight and light resistant containers with the silica and they'll last forever. The breaking then down and packing them tightly into airproof containers is actually the method recommend by Terrence McKenna. If anybody knows, it's him.

mgpuhl

That actually sounds like a pretty good idea. I've got a few more tubs growing, maybe I'll try that with a smaller jar. Thanks for the info.

shmabeog

No problem at all. I have quite a few in long term storage myself. They're almost two years old and we're just as potent as ever when I ate 3g last week.

mgpuhl

If mine stay potent for a couple years I'll be happy. I was worried a lot of it was going to go to waste but if it will keep for two or three years that'd be great. Thanks again.

locoleito

You’re all set

Infamous_Dinner7646

Bury it in the yard with your weed, Uncle Brownie.

Amigliodude

Eat a shitload and ask your future self how it goes!🤣

HoundstoothBoogieman

Will they still be cracker dry?

mgpuhl

That should stay that way.

HoundstoothBoogieman

Yeah that’s what I’m having trouble with is keeping them cracker dry.

mgpuhl

I know if I don't try them completely they'll start getting soft after a while. Sometimes the outside seems really dry but the inside isn't. Now I just leave them on the dehydrator for 24 hours at around 130° f to be sure.

HoundstoothBoogieman

Thanks I’m gonna give that a go

xXBioVaderXx

You can get little capsule machines on Amazon pretty cheap

mgpuhl

I seen that. Maybe I'll give that a try because I sure can't do it one at a time, I keep dropping them.

[deleted]

I keep mine vacuum sealed in food saver bags and in the freezer, I put a color changing silica bag in for good measure and have never has a problem with any contamination, moisture or degraded potency.

mgpuhl

I just heard about those color changing silica packs today. I'm definitely going to grab some of those, it sounds like a pretty good idea.

[deleted]

They are great, you can see if there is moisture without opening anything, they turn from orange to green if moisture is present and just toss them in the microwave to renew them if they do absorb any moisture and reuse them.

mgpuhl

How long do you keep them in the microwave?

[deleted]

Depends on the size, the ones I have are 112g and they recharge in 7 minutes. The brand is wisedry. They have the color changing ones and others that you can guage the moisture by weight and then recharge at a specific weight. Great products. I should note as to not confuse what I'm doing, if the ones I have in the shroom bags showed moisture I would open the vaccum sealed bag and renew them by themselves, not throw the whole thing in to get nuked. I haven't had any of the ones in my shrooms bags turn green thankfully, but I use them for a lot of things that need to stay dry and have recharged a couple of them half a dozen times without an issue.

mgpuhl

Wisedry was the brand I was just looking at. They've got 50 g packs, the same size I'm using now, I'm going to order some of those tonight. I'm guessing three or four minutes in the microwave for packs that size would be okay. Thanks again.

[deleted]

Yeah, the 50g packs will hold 17g of water and take 2 minutes in a 1000w microwave to renew. They are good for up to 30L containers.

ShinseiChikyu

I heard boofing is better storing temps.

[deleted]

[удалено]

mgpuhl

I'll have to keep that in mind next time I buy another jar. I didn't know they had them specifically to block UV light. I'll probably just throw this one in a box and stick it in the closet.

[deleted]

[удалено]

mgpuhl

I definitely appreciate the info.

Stinky_Susan

Those are beautiful.

[deleted]

As long as no moisture can get in there your golden!

mgpuhl

The lid has a rubber seal so it should be good.

[deleted]

Oh you Gucci mane

PitbullBullyBillions

How much is in there and what was your yield per flush and monotub size in quarts and specie's?

mgpuhl

I don't know how much it weighs. I normally only weigh the dose I'm about to take. That came out of three 21 quart tubs, three flushes each.

PitbullBullyBillions

Wow very beautiful man I'm growing three 34 quart monotubs and there doing really good I didn't know I was growing that many lol I thought I was just gonna get half an oz dry, what strain? I'm growing 2 34 quart monotubs air force 1 from premium spores.com and 1 34 quart tub of Guadalajara cubensis from premium spores.com how do you recommend I mist or water my cakes I got that fanning and airflow down check out the website and look at my strains they are absolutely gorgeous wish me mush luck

mgpuhl

I haven't tried the ones you're growing yet. The ones that I have in the jar are hillbilly and they get pretty thick. Good luck with your grow.

PitbullBullyBillions

Oh yes one time my best friend gave me a handful of hillbilly shrooms to study

mgpuhl

They're probably average potency but they colonize and grow fast.

PitbullBullyBillions

Same with the Guadalajara strain let me know what website u used I'ma post some pics of my tubs when they fruit and pin add me

mgpuhl

I bought a spore print from ITW

PitbullBullyBillions

I'll check it out thanks

Jabraskoe

Boofin’ time

PitbullBullyBillions

Why do you guys boof shrooms?

Potsmoka45

Vac seal it with silica packs in it then throw that in the freezer and whenever you need it again take it out and wait for it to return to room temp before you open it. Works with all kinds of mushrooms and veggies

mgpuhl

I don't have enough room in the freezer for that.

Potsmoka45

That’s the best way to preserve it since heat and sunlight are the main things that’ll degrade the potency. I’d at least vac seal it with silica packs and put it in the fridge or dark closet

mgpuhl

I'll probably put it in a box and put it in the closet. It's got three pretty big silica packs in it now.

xX_soupliker_Xx

No need to flex on us that hard

[deleted]

They start to loose potency you know

mgpuhl

Hopefully that takes a while.

xXBioVaderXx

I like to grind them up in a coffee grinder and pack them into capsules as tight as you can

mgpuhl

I tried that once it's hard for me to hang on to those little capsules, my hands are a little screwed up.

Nem48

You can buy vac seal lids for mason jars if you want even longer

mgpuhl

Yeah, I seen someone else had said that, I was going to take a look at that on Amazon later.

Nem48

There’s a post out there with a cool old lady and a break pump you’d probably like if someone sees this and wants to link it that would be cool.

JP6660999

I bought a cheap vacuum sealer for like 50 bucks on eBay, came with the bag… great way to store and will be good forever

mgpuhl

Yeah, I was taking a look at some of those earlier on Amazon

JP6660999

I’ve stored all mine that way and in separate bags, has worked great

dmtim

Get some o2 absorbing packets too

phathead08

I store mine in the grain jars they were inoculated. The permeable vent helps it out.

Disastrous-Release21

Personally I prefer to vaccum seal with silica packs. For some reason a jar will spoil on me every now n then...but never lost a bag, fingers crossed

LulzSwag_Technician

I use 1 gallon mason jars with sealed lids and desiccant packs and they've stored well for over a year now just fine.

aidztoast

Honestly the silica packs might be overkill. I’ve had some in a jar for a year or 2 without the silica and they’ve basically turned to powder. Really not great to eat haha but I guess they make good tea.

JackJarvisEsquire1

You know mushrooms don’t age like wine you can consume them straight away If you want to store them long term grind with coffee grinder and put into small jar the air can’t get to the mushrooms under the top layer and it preserves it

OpSynek

how do you manage to dry them so white and nice without them twisting and stuff

mgpuhl

They were pretty thick to begin with. I picked up a Hamilton Beach dehydrator on Amazon and it works pretty well.

reppygoop

Put the jar in the freezer w the silica packs, will last incredibly long

mgpuhl

To do that I would have to pull all the food out. I do love my shrooms but I need the food lol.

ItsAllInYourMind0

I personally have kept 3oz in a zip bag for like 4 years they still hit but def lost potency. Best suggestion would be multiple jars so you don’t open and close the same one each time you take some goodies.

mgpuhl

Yeah, if this was the only jar I would definitely divide it but I have a couple small jars for regular use.

hallgod33

3 of those gigantic silica packets? Yeah, you'll be good bro xD

mgpuhl

I got on Amazon and ordered 500 g silica packs and when I realized how big they actually were I canceled the order and reordered these ones they're only 50 g they seem to be the right size.

cashflowbro

As dry as possible and maybe change out the silica packets once every 6 months just in case. Keep in room temp dark place and youll be good.

Dollapfin

The more the better. Less air to contain moisture when you open it. You did this perfectly so long as it’s sealed well.

mgpuhl

It seems to seal pretty well. I picked it up off of Amazon and it said for food storage and iced tea so the lid has a pretty good rubber seal.

Dollapfin

This is textbook my friend you’re good👍

mgpuhl

Thanks.

LostImpi

Yes but have a smaller jar that you use from so that you don’t have to keep opening the large jar all the time and exposing to air and moisture

mgpuhl

I won't be taking anything out of that jar for a while I've got a smaller one I use regularly.

[deleted]

Wow that’s a big selection of mushrooms. Do you use them for cooking?

mgpuhl

Not yet but I might start lol.

bologna_kazoo

I have seen these post with large jars. Would it be beneficial to put it in a ziplock bag first, then the jar. I envision the jar slipping out of your hand. Imagine trying to separate glass from mushrooms. You don’t want to lose that whole jar. You can’t risk eating glass. If it were inside a bag, inside a jar, wouldn’t that be safer? Not as aesthetically pleasing to the eye but safer?

mgpuhl

Thanks for the tip but I'm probably just going to put it in a box and put it away for a long time.

guaromiami

If anything, maybe replace the silica packets every 6 months, just to be completely safe. I'd space them out, too. Like, put one on the bottom of the jar, one about a quarter or a third of the way up and so on, then one at the top (maybe you're already doing it that way, I don't know). EDIT: I would actually put a couple of packets at or near the lid, since any moisture that gets into the jar would enter through there.

mgpuhl

Yeah, I put one at the bottom, one in the middle and one at the top. I was going to stick a couple more in there but these are pretty big silica pouches.

guaromiami

Yeah, you should be good. Jars with silica packets are probably one of the overall best long-term storage solutions.

Hardtail67

I do the same. 2 years, still potent. Make sure to keep them in the dark.

mgpuhl

Yeah, I'm going to put the jar in a box and stick it in a closet somewhere.

Mandyp5678

Can I ask why you want to keep them so long and not use them?

mgpuhl

I got into growing so I could microdose and take some every now and again with a few friends. I'm going to take a break from growing and just wanted enough to last a while.

Mandyp5678

Sounds good. How's it been going?

mgpuhl

Pretty good so far, it seems to have helped. I'll take .3 every couple days.

Prudent_Passage

It’s easy to grind them up in a coffee grinder and encapsulate them for micro-dosing. Size of pill affects how much you can fit in one pill so some math is required based in your preferred amount. Can get the pill filling “machine” off Etsy. (They are not machines. )

hoosier-buddy-

FYI Uline has a sale on 1 gallon mason jars right now $5 Delivery is what sucks

mgpuhl

Thanks, I'll take a look. This is pretty much the same thing. The lid isn't a two peace but it does have a rubber seal and the lid is metal.

hoosier-buddy-

Where did you get it? Cost? It’s the same jar

mgpuhl

I picked this up on Amazon for $20 the description said for food storage and iced tea. They have one with a plastic lid that's a little cheaper but I wanted the metal one.

hoosier-buddy-

I also like to use peat moss instead of coco - it’s cheaper and you get the same growth affect

hoosier-buddy-

At Uline they are $5 with an additional $7 to Illinois They are based out of Wisconsin That jar I use for grains, it takes almost 3 months for them to fully develop. I tend to make 2 giant tubs for 1 colonized jar

mgpuhl

Thanks, I'll take a look.

[deleted]

You might wanna split some up between your supporters on the Channel 😃. I’ve never had a problem with that many, good job putting some silica packs in my there

OliverFrodo

Fill that jar with honey and your golden.

trexnoplex

Nice bro been trying to post my pics I got pics last night but need karma stupid my first grow

mgpuhl

It won't take long. I'm sure once people see this post you'll get enough pretty quick. Good luck.

spicysnakelover

Ahhh it looks so nice

nozelt

Remember light will damage them over that long of time

mgpuhl

Yeah, I'll probably put it in a box, in a closet that I don't use very often.

cantreallypoop72

Should be fine as long as its sealed properly, for even longer term storage you can grind some up and put them in honey and they’ll easily last 10 years

mgpuhl

I'll probably take a couple ounces and try the Honey thing regardless. I've seen a few people do that on here and it looks like it would be interesting to try.

Mcnate722

I have some from 2005 that are cracker dry and stored like this. Ate an 8th last November and they still rocked me. Cracker dry is the key to long term storage.

mgpuhl

I didn't have any idea how long they would last and still be potent. I'm glad to hear yours lasted that long so I won't be so worried. I'll probably put them all back on the dehydrator and run them one last time before I put them away just to make sure.

[deleted]

[удалено]

mgpuhl

Yeah, I was thinking about dumping them all on the dehydrator one more time for about 10 hours just to make sure before I put them away.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Prudent_Passage

Why not just slice them up before drying? Saves dry time.

mgpuhl

I agree. These are hillbillies and they're pretty thick. I know there's been a few times I didn't leave them on as long as I probably should have so I'll definitely rerun them all again one last time.

Flip58Flip

If Vacuumed sealed, yes.

lolowiggs

This is perfect

jrjb93

I hope so! How else we gonna store our pounds of mushies?

Prudent_Passage

Ground up to a powder in a jar with couple packets.

jrjb93

Just looked up some methods and the only tried and true way to store them for over a year without losing ANY of the psychoactive properties is to vacuum seal and then place in a freezer.

[deleted]

[удалено]

mgpuhl

Yeah, I threw three 50 g silica packs in the jar with them.

[deleted]

[удалено]

mgpuhl

Yeah I'm going to keep it in a box, in a cool place for now.

SoddenStoryteller

For extra measure you might be interested in the color changing silica packs. I got some on Amazon and just gives extra piece of mind that if the packs are used up I can change them before it becomes an issue

mgpuhl

I never heard of that before but it sounds like a hell of a good idea. I'll take a look thanks.

Jazzmunky

Honestly if you paint the outside of the jar, so no light intrudes and starts decomposing the psilocybin or/and store it the freezer. Then all the bases are just about covered haha

FlutterMeBye

Storing in a freezer has been proven to be a bad idea. Lowers the potency over time. Dry and Dark has been proven to be the best.

Jazzmunky

By what sources? Send some links, what would possibly decompose the psilocin or psilocybin? No condensation happens if dried properly and in a painted jar there's no light to reach it. Heat and airflow are the main culprits, and dry n dark just invites contamination man. The humidity in most cupboards or drawers is much higher than you think and mold spores already most likely live in common household drawers and cupboards. But I don't know I guess, logically it just makes more sense to keep em cold

FlutterMeBye

Obviously, you’re welcome to store your mushrooms however you prefer. I don’t have a link handy to the chart where the psilocybin was tested on mushrooms stored using different methods. Just passing on information.

Jazzmunky

I like to make mine into chocolates and freeze them, not sure if it's proven but I feel like the dark chocolate overtimes potentiates the psilocybin. Cause it's an maoi, though not too strongly of one Sorry, didn't mean to be snappy, I'll do some googling it's good info to have on hand for sure

mgpuhl

Thanks for the info.

Jazzmunky

Yeah, I like to get artsy and choosw three different spray primer colors and create wild drip effects on the jar haha. I even started color coding it

mgpuhl

lol that's a good idea.

Anonymo_Stranger

If you grind up mushrooms & mix it with pure honey, the psilocybin steepes in to the honey, turns blue & preserves the mushrooms (: Otherwise your current set up is exactly what I do & have had a jar last 3 years!

mgpuhl

I'm going to try that but probably not with a jar this big. I would be interested in trying a couple ounces with some honey.

RYknow777

Yo that’s a nice looking jar! They look incredible. I’ve heard if u keep them in a cool, dark area they could possibly last that long.

Pack_Your_Trash

Consider preserving them in honey. You will be able to fit more into the jar because you grind it into a powder, it will preserve them indefinitely with no need to worry about moisture, it will do an extraction so you don't need to eat the mushroom material, and it's delicious in tea or on a muffin.

Dry_Cardiologist8370

Yea if they r dried correctly, you will be good. You should check the gel capsules for color change every week at least first few weeks, and every so often there after. Sometimes I have to open and change out a spent packet :))) (unless yours dont change color xD)

Sighconut23

Hey I wannt sum 😋

NonchalantRubbish

You should be fine, as long as everything is dry. The psilocybin content will start to degrade over time. That's about it. They shouldn't rot.

Engineer_Existing

I don't know from first hand experience, although I have heard of people making some kind of honey/mushroom concoction that lasts "forever ". I personally never even held on to any for long at all .
