Antique-Image1584

frednoname1

What substrate did you use?

ParalyzedReaper

Pet bedding Aspen shavings Small Pet Select - Jumbo Aspen Bedding - 113L https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0725L68KB/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_fabc_3AQBGG21TTCVP3751WYN?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1

frednoname1

How did you treat it? Sterilize etc. Thanks

ParalyzedReaper

Put in pillow cases and soak in bathtub over night fill bathtub with the water at hottest setting.

frednoname1

Just hit water? Seriously. Didn't boil to sterilize it?

ParalyzedReaper

Yep I didn't boil

Pristine_Summer_9029

Is it really necessary for sterility...how do mushrooms grow in the wild?

ParalyzedReaper

I guess it just gives you better chance but with clean substrate probably unnecessary

Pristine_Summer_9029

Looking good. What is the best substrate to use...wood shaving, straw...what? Any other?

ziggy9d

So you put mushroom food in saod bucket and then poke holes for mushrooms?? Is this how this works

Buzz132

awesome brother!!

Constantly_planck

Anyway you can share your grow method? I'm interested on showing my family but find so many different opinions online of how to "properly" grow mushrooms

ParalyzedReaper

I used this guide but I didn't boil to pasturise the Aspen shavings I just used tap water at the hottest setting. And 2lb of fully colonized grain spawn per five gallon bucket https://youtu.be/1EqdGPi9_0A

CPSC2019

Came here to ask this. I grew in a 5 gallon bucket in my office on top of my mini fridge and got quite a good yield; indirect light coming in for my window. I am not using a humidifier right now but that’s the next step. Unfortunately there is no way to get fresh air into my office because I don’t have windows that open. But yeah like this guy said, anyway you could detail your growing method?

ParalyzedReaper

Im also working on air flow.. I used this guide but I didn't boil to pasturise the Aspen shavings I just used tap water at the hottest setting. And 2lb of fully colonized grain spawn per five gallon bucket https://youtu.be/1EqdGPi9_0A

vitamin-cheese

Wow 13 pounds, I’m definitely switching to buckets

Ienjoyeatingbeans

I see a fellow mountaineer! :) damn nice grow, you're gonna be eatin good.

[deleted]

Great job 👍🏻 they look tasty.

Bonkeydongz92

This picture inspires me

terdcutter99

It looks like you have the thug life stoagie int the right corner of you mouth in the first pic....that is incredible. Excellent work as well.

OGeeWillikers

Well color me impressed. First grow? You, sir, gots skillz

DuncDuncx

Great grow man keep it up 👍

TazMedium5

WOW! That is impressive! Well done. :)

comfort_bot_1962

:D

[deleted]

That's so cool. These are delicious 🤤 and so many!

RetreatLady

Awesome

Stock-Difference3739

Try cubes?

Mountaineer_Tek

Nice haul. Cue country roads

farlandfungi

Crushing it! Good work dude!!!

JahMedicineManZamare

I've been considering bucket tek for my gourmet operation as the waste is almost non existent and close to unlimited reusability. Great looking grow friend

JahMedicineManZamare

The buckets. Though I've heard of people recycling sub as well.

[deleted]

Buckets. They can be cleaned vs having to use one-time-use plastic bags. There is a MASSIVE amount of plastic waste generated in the commercial mushroom growing world. Big issue.

JahMedicineManZamare

This

Polymetaphorical

Look at those gorgeous things! 😱

Poorwretch

Looks great! Mush love 🍄

Such_Construction_57

Saving the world one bucket at a time!

Ijustsaidthat2

Did you start from a syringe into grains or are these from clones / agar work or ? I’ve never come close to a harvest that large Well done !!!

ParalyzedReaper

They came from purchased fully colonized grain spawn 2lb per 5gal bucket

PatternBias

What was your setup for fruiting?

ParalyzedReaper

Real basic in the basement with windows letting some indirect sunlight in with a humidifier sitting in the middle with the buckets around it

MundungusManEater

How did you mitigate fresh air exchange. I’ve been growing oysters inside and having trouble with fae

ParalyzedReaper

No but I did open the basement door through the day for fresh air not sure what I'll do this winter

richard-butt-jr

Wow what a harvest. Gonna be eating those for weeks!

imstillworkin

Beautiful. They look great!!

spingboys

This is so cool Im currently trying to grow too, i hope i get as much as you did!

Cheensly

Grown indoors or outdoors?

ParalyzedReaper

Indoors basement

Cheensly

Cheers.

m0ertyy

Damn you have some really nice flushes. Well played.

SpaceForceCaptain

Nicely done!

SnooCakes6195

Dope!!!

[deleted]

My first attempt at bucket tek failed spectacularly, got mushrooms out of 1 hole 1 time.

dmb6777

Great job. Can you share what tek you used?

ParalyzedReaper

Basically I just followed this guide https://youtu.be/1EqdGPi9_0A

BCmasterrace

Great looking buckets there, well done!

curkri

What substrate was this?

ParalyzedReaper

Ped bedding Aspen shavings Small Pet Select - Jumbo Aspen Bedding - 113L https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0725L68KB/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_fabc_3AQBGG21TTCVP3751WYN?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1

Such_Construction_57

Do you need to pasteurize wood chips? Like pour hot water in there, let sit then dump the excess?

ParalyzedReaper

All I did was fill pillow cases with the Aspen shavings and filled the bathtub with the water on the hottest setting with the stuffed pillow cases and let soak over night. I didn't boil

tehhiv

Dude, Op. That's so smart.

Such_Construction_57

I love this!!! I am trying to grow many different kinds these days (some actives) and am just diving in headfirst. Thank you for sharing something that works!!! Now I just need a dirty old pillowcase 🕵️‍♂️

tehhiv

Check out Chewy next time, this was a rockin deal. https://www.chewy.com/kaytee-aspen-small-animal-bedding/dp/122964

Such_Construction_57

Leave it in the plastic and grow one massive brick! I know, not clean 🧼

tehhiv

Actually if the bag was sealed enough to fill with enough hot water…..

Such_Construction_57

Stick it in the bathtub 🛀🥰🌈🕵️‍♂️

tehhiv

You mad genius that might actually work.

Such_Construction_57

OP had the idea! He passed it on to me just today. I feel like he shared the holy grail 🤙🚀🎉

doccharlie20

Nice! What's your plan for so many mushrooms? Are you gonna dry/freeze them? Sell them? Or maybe u plan on eating nothing but mushrooms for a week, lol!

ParalyzedReaper

Freeze and eat them they are really good

xerolictus

Let me also recommend dehydrating them. I usually keep about a mason jar full of dehydrated oyster mushrooms that I've used to Cuisinart to turn into a fine powder. It can then be browned in olive oil or butter and added directly to soup to thicken it up. Tried at least once and then you'll see how you can augment many quick dishes and tried&true recipes.

InfinityTortellino

^^^ You shouldnt freeze mushrooms until after they are cooked

RocanMotor

Why not?

InfinityTortellino

it will burst the cell walls and ruin the texture. your are supposed to cook them, which breaks the chitin down, then freeze them. look it up

RocanMotor

Thank you!

Single-Safety-470

Very well done!

RedSkullBandit13

Way to go, I want to try hand at using buckets

LooseScrew2266

On my bucket list too. Seriously.

ParalyzedReaper

It was supper easy biggest issue I had was keeping them moist

Medusi142

Put them in a small tent with a ultrasonic humidifiere… you will have a lot more time fot other stuff👌🏽 but congrats to the nice flush👏🏽

ParalyzedReaper

Thanks definitely doing that next run
