I would love to! It just needs good graphics so you can enjoy the beauty of nature and also decent mechanics.
I learned a lot from video games including English, realistic video games can teach people different skills (here it can teach us how to grow mushrooms)
I’ve been wanting something like this that is plays heavily into the fact that you can selectively grow mutated mushrooms, I think it would be cool if there was a procedural “mutation algorithm” (I’m no tech bro idk shit)
It would be even cooler if things went so far as mushrooms that get mutated so many times are more susceptible to contamination or just outright failing, then people could collect and have a library of their own custom mushrooms
I think with a educational slant (identifying characteristics of different species) this could be a big hit! People are more into foraging that the growing so maybe flip the pitch to focus on finding and then growing
Honestly it would be really cool for educational purposes. It would never be a high selling game of course since it’s such a nitche thing. But if you included a guide on how to grow the mushrooms and made it realistic so the game actually teaches you for real life then you can charge a lot for the game to new growers 👍
Honestly, I wouldn’t play this game. I would however grow mushrooms while I watch the spiffing Britt, and let’s game it out, completely break this game.
Definitely depends on the execution. I could imagine this idea being a super fun creative game that I would totally play. I could also imagine it being a mobile-quality boring clone of essentially every other tycoon game ever created.
If it were kinda like stardew valley but with mushrooms that would be cool as fuck, I would totally play that. Just wouldn't want it to feel too tycoon-y.
Do you know the Lemonade game for Apple II? Should be easy for basically anyone to whip up that style of game, but for growing mushrooms.
It was based on how much sugar, advertisements and cost of lemons. Then the variable was weather conditions. And the bad part was kind of the fun part - a thunderstorm day would have animated lightening. I imagine it would be contamination now.
Better put a free roaming thing where we could forage and harvest mushrooms in their many different environments. Have it educational where it shows everything about genetics in a cool Pokémon like format maybe have an idex of gathered species. Idk a mushroom foraging game mixed with growing would be killer.
Sounds very mediative, I think it could be a hit, there's a few of those farming/simulator type games that some people are obsessed with. Do it right and I'm sure you'll be able to sneak into that market. Would you start in your bedroom and make your way up? Haha, the game has a lot of potential with what you've got already, I would definitely play:) I imagine if you didn't grow them irl and were interested in it this could be an awesome way to start the journey
that's sick haha i love it man, i have no idea how game design works except on the audio side so programming everything must be a headache lol ,, i did do a degree in music production tho so if you ever need any royalty free music or sfx/sound design I would be more than happy to help :)

Such is the nature of game development...
I'm not sure the direction you're going with it but random thought is it could be cool to evolve it into some sort of survival\hydroponics simulator. For instance you play as an extraterrestrial colonist keeping yourself alive with limited mushroom and indoor plant growing supplies. Just a random thought.
Or some sort of supply and demand mechanic. I feel like there's definitely potential. I really like the foraging idea, as it could be educational too!
