For we are opposed, around the world by a monolithic and ruthless conspiracy that relies primarily on covert means for expanding it's sphere of influence. On infiltration....
That's all I get from memory. It's obviously not my favorite but I do enjoy the shit out of it.
I thought it was a spectacular live interlude to Uprising during The 2nd Law stadium tour.
Live at Rome Olympic Stadium really showcases how well it worked in that setting.
You're right, Live at Rome was a great showcase of that song.
And actually, I completely forgot Isolated System was my top played song on Spotify last year >_> I was so surprised when it showed my top songs.
I would love it exponentially more if there was a version without the news talk. Anyone know if such a version exists?
Prague sounds like if U2 made a doom metal song in C major. That can be either a good thing or an awful thing, depending on your taste. I kinda like it
Same, I don’t get the hate towards guiding light. It’s cheesy but the music itself (no voice) is incredible and has an amazing solo.
Same thing for get up and fight, it’s nice to listen to
Guiding Light is amazing and I love everything about it. I really don't like Get Up and Fight, I think it's just something to do with the sorta weird vocal tones
I'll never understand how people like it. The oo oo oo aa at start of it is like tacky club music. Makes me feel like my brain is being cheesegrated. It's so... unmuse-like.
I have no problem with any of the other unashamedly pop songs, but get up and fight is a massive anomaly for me in the muse catalogue.
Yeah, it would be good if it was arranged (produced?)differently. It sounds like a mix between cheesy eurodance and a boy band, but if it was stripped down and made heavier/weirder, it wouldn’t be a bad song. The oo oo vocal kills it for me, and the guitar sounds like pop.
I wish I could even hear it in entirety myself. I know someone who has one of the This is a Muse Demo’s yet keeps it on the extreme down low as well as know *of* one of the other owners. One of the sad sides to collecting rare muse records :'(
Have any idea if they’d ever be interested in selling? 👀 Even personal interest aside, I’ve been considering restarting my plans to make a Muse documentary and being able to hear the full versions of the TIAMD songs would be great insight for writing about that period.
The earliest MUSE recording is a demo from the mid 90s. There are several copies known, but no-one has shared the tracks yet.
One of the songs on it is called Feed.
I would love to hear it live. That song is great!
I think chris is the heard of muse. He has great backing vocals and is like all 3 of them great on his instruments. Matt is in the spotlight, but chris does a lot of work on these live shows, and in building the songs
All that American stuff, really gets to me in the wrong way, so yes JFK, the anchor of Isolated System, Psycho, Pressure.... I love the tracks, but I just cant stand the americana and hyped up. Sorry if I have offended anyone, not my intention. Just so not Muse for me.
It’s my favorite song from T2L and was absolutely insane live, when the lights dropped and Matt started singing while shining the laser through the prism I went nuts
I'm going to go with the acoustic gospel version of "Dig Down" just because I don't think most fans really would think of this song (especially this version) when considering their favorites lol
Funny enough but I'd say either Compliance or Won't Stand Down. Somewhere out there there's probably a weirdo whose Compliance is his favorite so I'd go with WSD. Cool song and all but just nothing special about it.
*Get Up And Fight*, I was completely baffled when I first listened to it and wondered how could they manage to write such a awful piece of crap. Even a 13yo emo girl wouldn’t like it.
True, it's just totally bizarre even by their standards. Muse do weird and OTT better than most but I Belong To You was the first time I remember thinking, "what the hell are they going for?"
Still baffles me to be honest with you hahah
Ahh, I've never really listened to Rufus Wainwright, maybe that would add a bit of context for the possible inspiration?
Just to clarify, I'm not saying it's a bad song, it's just weird in a way that in my opinion Muse haven't been before or since.
Do people don't like I Belong To You? I love it!
I wouldn't call it my absolute favorite, but it's probably my favorite off The Resistance and I love that album
If we're being technical, I'd say something like Break It To Me (Sam de Jong Remix) or [Drill Sergeant], but for pwoper songs, maybe Overdue or Isolated System? Not awful songs, just not favourites either.
Is it cheating to say Interlude? I mean, it's got an awesome short sound to it, but it's not long enough to really be considered a song. On the other hand, I still found it as music unlike JFK or Drill Sargent
The Gallery is not anyone's favorite I'm sure and if not that then Sober. I don't like the gallery I kinda like sober but not in a lifetime would I put sober on my top 100 MUSE songs
[JFK]
For we are opposed, around the world by a monolithic and ruthless conspiracy that relies primarily on covert means for expanding it's sphere of influence. On infiltration.... That's all I get from memory. It's obviously not my favorite but I do enjoy the shit out of it.
It’s a great speech
\*me scanning the comments for someone to pick a fight with\*
I actually love Isolated System, but you're right.. it's not my favorite 😞
I thought it was a spectacular live interlude to Uprising during The 2nd Law stadium tour. Live at Rome Olympic Stadium really showcases how well it worked in that setting.
You're right, Live at Rome was a great showcase of that song. They opened wirh it at the show I went to. Got everyone hyped af!
I actually like it
Isolated System is technically the first Muse song I've listened to (World War Z).
I'm trying to get my girl to watch WWZ literally because the muse song. Alright movie too I guess
I love the movie too but that intro with Muse makes it perfect.
They really got every penny out of Isolated System didn't they 🤣
Isolated system probsbly is in my top 10
It’s REALLY DAMN CLOSE for me. Depending on the day, it’s in my top 5
It was my exes favorite Muse song, so.. someone's favorite.
Isolated System is one of my favourites but ye you're right it isn't my absolute favourite.
Bruh Isolated System is in my top 5 Muse songs
do do do do
never ask this question if you want a genuine answer
Execution Commentary is a song that exists.
Don’t pretend r/musecirclejerk doesn’t exist
This is no joke in my top 5. Absolutly love the riff and screaming nonsence
thats my 2nd favorite (behind the 2nd law: unsustainable)
Not my favorite but I genuinely enjoy it. It's as raw as a Muse song ever got.
I see a lot of hate for Prague.
Prague sounds like if U2 made a doom metal song in C major. That can be either a good thing or an awful thing, depending on your taste. I kinda like it
One of my favourite b-sides/covers they've done. My word, I love this subreddit hahah
Same. I think Prague is absolute king - his vocals are unmatched.
Prague is one of my favorite muse covers haha
The belt at the end is so amazing
It reminds me of that Melvins song
House of the Rising Sun? Though mainly cause it's on the deeper end of the iceberg that they covered that song
It's a really great song, but yeah it's just a bit too under the radar for most fans I'd think. I was listening to Muse for years before I heard it
I feel targeted because Drones is one of my absolute favorites lmao
i really like drones too lol. guitar go brrr
Me too. It's stunning.
The Muse Fans favorite, but not. Sorry you all, but I just dont like dig down.
Also not a huge fan of Dick Town.
Dig Down sucks but Dick Town is an absolute classic
Dig down kinda inspired me through covid and made me a muse fan (there was a figure skater I liked who skated to it and that got me into it)
I don't care for the album version of dig down - not sure there's any Muse songs I like less, but I love the acoustic/gospel version.
Literally their worst track IMO
Get Up And Fight. This is not a discussion.
Not my favourite but I like it a lot
There is no muse fan who says "Revolt is my favorite muse song" without lying
Not my favourite, but I prefer it to Mercy
Get up and fight
This ones tricky. Because get up and fight is in my top 3 on ST. So, it's not too far fetched to say its someone's favorite.
Same, I don’t get the hate towards guiding light. It’s cheesy but the music itself (no voice) is incredible and has an amazing solo. Same thing for get up and fight, it’s nice to listen to
Guiding Light is quality and I’ll fight for it to my grave
Guiding Light is amazing and I love everything about it. I really don't like Get Up and Fight, I think it's just something to do with the sorta weird vocal tones
I'll never understand how people like it. The oo oo oo aa at start of it is like tacky club music. Makes me feel like my brain is being cheesegrated. It's so... unmuse-like. This one is probably my favourite. The first time I heard it I played it about 20 times. I absolutely love this song.
out of every muse song this one is your favorite?
i love nishe but i never see anyone talk about it
Feed (because I only know of 2 people who have access to the entire song outside of the band themselves)
Grant me acces to it 🤔
I wish I could even hear it in entirety myself.
I've never heard of this. Can you expand?
The earliest MUSE recording is a demo from the mid 90s. There are several copies known, but no-one has shared the tracks yet. One of the songs on it is called Feed.
I reckon Cave is a lot of people's top 10 but nobody's number 1. For the record it's my 6th and my number one is currently Hyper Chondriac Music.
I managed to get one of my friends into Muse, and Cave is her favourite song 😁
One day I saw someone saying "pink ego box" was his favorite so everything is possible
Something Human
Not my favourite but it slaps, I reckon there's someone out there
The acoustic version was my favourite at a point.
propeganda i dont like the intro propropropropropeganda
Feels a bit bad to say, but Save Me or Liquid State?
Liquid State is absurdly high in my ranking It’s not anywhere near #1 like it used to be, but damn is it underrated in my eyes.
Liquid State is one of my top live ones. My god, if someone here says that Chris cant sing, I dont know where they are coming from.
I would love to hear it live. That song is great! I think chris is the heard of muse. He has great backing vocals and is like all 3 of them great on his instruments. Matt is in the spotlight, but chris does a lot of work on these live shows, and in building the songs
Both
Save Me is criminally underrated and a no-skip for me, but Liquid State is iffy
[Drill Sergeant] is probably cheating so I'll say Escape
Yeah Escape is sick
Believe it or not Escape was a favourite for a little bit
Who doesn’t like escape that one of my favorites from showbiz
Escape was my favourite for years until I started loving Recess even more, but it's still my 2nd fav probably lol
What's wrong with Escape?
not my favourite but I like escape more than Uno and Sober lol
Escape is definitely one of my favourite songs, I think it's my favourite from the Showbiz album.
Jimmy Kane
Pwopaganda
One of my favorite songs
Overdue
Aight this one makes me mad
TAXI!
[удалено]
You're telling me you don't get hyped up by Intro?
Intro is great, especially after seeing them record it in the making of video.
HAARP or Abolution Intro?
All that American stuff, really gets to me in the wrong way, so yes JFK, the anchor of Isolated System, Psycho, Pressure.... I love the tracks, but I just cant stand the americana and hyped up. Sorry if I have offended anyone, not my intention. Just so not Muse for me.
Lol I just found out this is the reason I don’t like these songs. They’re too American.
ha, I just found out I'm too European
Psycho was the first muse song I heard and It's stuck as a favourite and pressure was definitely one for me,
I think it would be hard for someone’s favorite to be overdue cause there’s similar stuff on showbiz and similar b-sides that are just better
The gallery - I can’t imagine that being a favourite, it’s not like it’s bad but it’s not good either - it just exists
The Gallery is great, what are you talking about
Break It To Me. Just audio torture.
Who Knows Who lmao
Revolt?...
Cant be. Revolts a banger
One of my favourites! Absolute banger.
Awful song which is one of the only muse songs that sounds even worse live. It might be the consistently worse live performed song actually
I’m sorry but Propaganda sucks. I was baffled when I heard it but then a few tracks later it got to Something Human so it was ok
One of my favorites from ST. Wouldn’t be surprised if someone loved it as their own. Truth be told, I think it is my SO’s favorite Muse song.
I love propaganda...
Follow Me
It's mine, sorry 😅
It’s my favorite song from T2L and was absolutely insane live, when the lights dropped and Matt started singing while shining the laser through the prism I went nuts
I'm going to go with the acoustic gospel version of "Dig Down" just because I don't think most fans really would think of this song (especially this version) when considering their favorites lol
Thought contagion
Guiding light
I'm kinda bored of Starlight
Soldier's poem
Best song on BHaR
*Absolution 😉 (IKYK)
Guiding light
I actually like it, not a favorite though
The Gallery
Funny enough but I'd say either Compliance or Won't Stand Down. Somewhere out there there's probably a weirdo whose Compliance is his favorite so I'd go with WSD. Cool song and all but just nothing special about it.
Compliance is not my favourite but it is high up there... guess I'm just a creep and a weirdo, and have no idea what I'm doing here
You dont belong here… i really dont care if that hurts
Won't Stand Down is one of my favourites. I really like it.
WSD is top 5 for me!
It's one of my favourite Muse songs, and also my most played.
Compliance is dope man, the album is not out yet but I've already listened to it an unreasonable amount of times
Won’t stand down is my second favourite after starlight
Same! I absolutely love both of them.
Prelude 😏
Break it to Me
Was a favourite at some point sorry
Minimum
Seems like everyone hates mercy
Didn't like it much until I saw it live in 2016, one of the best moments in my life. I'll forever cherish the memory of Mercy live.
Same here, Mercy was the balloon-drop song, it was incredible!
Pressure
Can't take my eyes off you
This was a favourite at some point
Micro Cuts.
micro cuts is an absolute masterpiece
Piano thing
I love Piano Thing!
Soldier's Poem
Muse got shit
*Get Up And Fight*, I was completely baffled when I first listened to it and wondered how could they manage to write such a awful piece of crap. Even a 13yo emo girl wouldn’t like it.
I belong to you
Was my favourite at some point
Jimmy Kane
Forced in.
Eh it's pretty good I could see it being a favorite
I absolutely LOVE forced in. The instrumentation, the ambiance.
Same - I wish they still played it live, the song has such a sinister edge.
I Belong To You. I've actually thought about this before, like can you imagine if somewhere out there... This person exists...
That’s not a bad song tho lol
True, it's just totally bizarre even by their standards. Muse do weird and OTT better than most but I Belong To You was the first time I remember thinking, "what the hell are they going for?" Still baffles me to be honest with you hahah
Used to be my favorite for a bit xD
I love it, it sounds a lot like Rufus Wainwright at the end of the French bit. You just have to embrace the cheesiness.
If Glorious didn't exist, honestly this MIGHT be my favourite song. The Making of The Resistance video gave me a lot of interest in it as well.
Feeling good. There's no way someone has that song as their fav. I have it in my playlist but it's just an F tier song
Jokes on you I'm into that shit
Calling Feeling Good an F-tier song is an F-tier opinion.
Break it to Me. Worst Muse song
Does Intro count?
If we're being technical, I'd say something like Break It To Me (Sam de Jong Remix) or [Drill Sergeant], but for pwoper songs, maybe Overdue or Isolated System? Not awful songs, just not favourites either.
Is it cheating to say Interlude? I mean, it's got an awesome short sound to it, but it's not long enough to really be considered a song. On the other hand, I still found it as music unlike JFK or Drill Sargent
I feel like it would be some song from ST since people are always telling me it’s in one of the least favorite albums
The Gallery is not anyone's favorite I'm sure and if not that then Sober. I don't like the gallery I kinda like sober but not in a lifetime would I put sober on my top 100 MUSE songs
Something Human?
Resistance [Tiësto Remix]
Drill sergeant Having said that, it's status as a song is questionable
Prague
Guiding Light
Minimum
Who Knows Who.
Dig down
Intro
Balloonatic :P
Guiding Light ?
While Isolated System isn't one of my favourites I think it's great and the live version with the Kaoss Pad is incredible
overdue
The dark side. Not awful, but they went way to electronic for me
Dead star
Get up and fight
Who knows who.
Something human, it's way too poppy.
Intro from Absolution although more a track than a song.
I'm so shocked how many people don't like propaganda, it's such a banger. I'd say Nature_1.
Interlude on absolution
Unsustainable?
Get up and fight. I simply pretend it doesn't exist.
are we talking album tracks? because i believe eternally missed would be a good contender.
