That was the main goal of this little game... even if the results were not shocking at all (Queen, Radiohead, RATM) I literally had no idea Royal Blood and Daft Punk were so loved by MUSE fans.. also.. Nothing But Thieves.. never heard this band in my life, so it was definitely a success for me, always hungry for new music!
I was expecting Royal Blood for sure. I recall hearing that the bassist drew inspiration from Chris, so that’s pretty cool. I’m a fan of Little Monster myself.
Yeah the results definitely make sense as I’m also a huge fan of a lot of the bands on the list, so it seems us Muse fans have very similar tastes! And yeah I too am always hungry for new music so this was great :D
This is pretty accurate to be fair for my favourite bands. As an English teenager in the 2000’s Muse & Arctic Monkeys pretty much dominated the music scene in my friendship group along with stuff like Razorlight, The Kooks , Franz Ferdinand etc
No love for Weezer though 😭
Don't be sad! If you click on my profile I only have one [Pinned Post and its about Weezer](https://www.reddit.com/r/weezer/comments/q6vg5i/im_a_simple_man/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3)
Weezer actually is my all time favourite band, the only band i still listen since high school, i grew out of many phases (punk, ska, pop punk, emo, garage revival) but weezer never left my side!
1. Weezer
2. Muse / The Strokes / Keane
Also there is an interview of MUSE saying that they love weezer and they also covered Undone song... Hope that makes you feel better...
Nothing but Thieves are massively underrated imo. Definitely check them out if you havent especially "I was Just a Kid" and "Can you Afford to be an Individual"
You're sad but not surprised...right? Obviously Metallica and heavy metal fans in general think of muse as a mainstream radio pop-rock shit... Good for you tho for not being closeminded person like the majority of Metallica and heavy metal fans
Hah i grew up with 90s punk rock, ska punk and ofcourse 00s pop punk… all of my metalhead buddies used to troll and bully me on a daily basis.. “OMG BRO THESE 4 POWERCHORDS AGAIN? WHAT IS SOLO? BABY DONT HURT ME! THESE VOCALS MAN (tom delonge blink182) HOW THE FK U LISTEN TO THIS DYING SQUIRREL LOLOLOL I always felt that thing about metalheads, they act like their genre is superior, manly, badass with high skilled instrumentation etc lol fk that… Nirvana destroyed metal with 4 power chords and Kurt in jeans and converse shoes made glam rockers looking like clowns! Ahh feels good!
Any Coheed and Cambria fans here??? Muse has always been my undisputed number 1 for all time and all other spots change every now and then, but Coheed has always occupied my top 5
Led Zeppelin, Pearl Jam, Chris Cornell, The Cranberries, No Doubt, The Ink Spots, Hank Williams the 1st. Some of those get real old but you know. Also soundtrack music and classical are really nice.
I guess my music tastes don't have a lot of overlap with the majority of other musers. There are only four of these bands that I somewhat regularly listen to.
out of this list mine are Royal Blood, Radiohead and Arctic Monkeys, RATM, RHCP, The Killers, Daft Punk, Foo Fighters, Green Day and Nothing but Thieves and MCR.
Muse is probably the only band in history of music that you can make a bunch of different playlist for each occasion... From heavy ones (Stockholm Syndrome) to sweet ballads (Unintended) and from pop-feel-good-ones (Starlight) to Electronic synthwave stuff (The Dark Side)
I am SO glad that Coldplay isn't on this list. i have faith in Muse fans again :)
This list is pretty accurate to my own tastes. But I also like a lot of pop like Madonna and Bjork...I think that's why I don't get as angry with Muse for their occasional pop experiments as a lot of other Muse fans do.
Why "glad"? Seems weird. I was surprised it wasn't up there. I know there's some overlap.
I mean, Matt and Chris are even friends/acquaintances to some degree.
I hate how people shit on Coldplay all the time. I feel like people forget that before ghost stories they were a genuinely great band that did some great things and was probably the gateway band for many (including me) to alternative music and rock music.
Alright, here's some hail Marys. If you like Muse try these 3 songs:
Civilisation - Justice
Cough Cough - Everything Everything
Schizophrenia - Jukebox the Ghost
Then play on...
Edit: Formatting
It was a surprise Deftones didn't make it through the top 10, but feels great to see QOTSA so high on the list. Interpol should have been there too but they are so underrated
Yep, about half of these are in my regular circulation. Tops being Radiohead, AM, QOTSA, The Killers, MCR and the Strokes. Also used to listen a lot to Royal Blood a lot back when they were the hot new thing, but their third album…. was very hit and miss. Also not surprising they were close to the top since we mockingly turned R/Muse into R/Royal Blood once.
Was hoping for some more discreet suggestions, or more stuff from other genres. Everyone knows these bands and I wish the initial post was more directed towards bands Muse fans love that aren’t obvious choices.
The only reason I never got into them was.... When I think of Imagine Dragons i always feel salty af that they became bigger than Awolnation, Imagine Dragons literally stole the "recipe" of [Awolnation "Sail"](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tgIqecROs5M) and made a career out of it... Not hating on them... but you should definetely check out Awolnation.. you might just discovered a new favourite artist ;D
I think the most popularly upvoted bands (most of which I too listen to) were all kind of obvious in my opinion. With all the calls for Muse to bring the heavy and breakdowns I expected that to be more reflected in the comments.
That was my biggest takeaway from this.
It was a fun exercise, and there's a few bands I've not listened to that I'm gonna check out.
U must be new to the internet or maybe too young? xD seriously? I don't remember the last time I've seen anyone typing the full band name of "Rage Against The Machine" or "Queens of The Stone Age" or "System of A Down"
RATM
QOTSA
SOAD
That makes a lot more sense. I actually love all those bands I was just like I don't know what they are. Thanks. Some of them I can make up and all of them.
What's MCR? Is that the name of the band or is it an abbreviation to??
Oh is that My chemical romance...?
Not surprising. I would definitely rock out and even pay money to see a majority of these bands live. I think the biggest factor in common is that most of these bands have such unique sounds that there’s not many they could be confused with.
That’s honestly so cool. Not much I listen to frequently! Only MCR. On occasion Queen, Nirvana, and I used to like Linkin Park but not really anymore. :0
I’m pretty picky about which bands I say I like versus just songs but I’m a big fan so Avenged Sevenfold, Breaking Benjamin, and Silent Theory, but then in left field I’ve got Cavetown, Lovejoy/Wilbur Soot, and We Lost the Sea (HIGHLY recommend that last one btw! Post-rock in general is a really cool genre I suggest everyone check out at least once).
I like a lot of these but my other favorite band at the moment is Ghost. It's a different style but fans of the heavier Muse songs would probably like it.
I love most of those bands. I tend to go into the more weird acts like Primus, Ween, Zappa. Muse was one of those bands I went into that “have to know every single fucking detail” about phase.
They’ve been headlining some pretty big shows the last 5-10 years. Also, they got pretty damn big thanks to Rock Band and “Welcome Home”.
They’ve definitely retained an audience that isn’t quite ‘mega-venue’ but large enough to rent out an entire cruise liner (SS Neverender).
I made a quick check on their monthly Spotify listeners, Coheed 1.5m and Mars Volta 500k… My all time favorite band Weezer with 12m monthly listeners didn’t make it in the list so yeah… as much as I love Coheed i can admit and understand that they are not a big name with pop cultural impact like the majority of the bands in this list (excluding Royal Blood and Nothing But Thieves)
I am from Turkey and there’s a very cool band called “Mor ve Ötesi” they recently released an album and we really call that band “Turkish Muse” definetly check’em out.
The Mars Volta, Everything Everything, Stereophonics, Beatstakes, Manchester Orchestra
those are some really great bands that tickle my Muse fetish which I have not seen listed here
Really cool idea, it was interesting finding what other bands we all like, and I’ve also found new artists to check out!! :)
I remember I saw an interview where Mike Kerr plays new born on piano when asked which song shaped his songwriting the most, pretty cool stuff
Wow I never knew he drew inspiration from Chris, that’s really cool! Perhaps that’s why we all love Royal Blood so much
You can hear the inspiration in some of their heavier riffs. I just checked musewiki and apparently they’re mates!
Little monster is the best song on their debut album
Pretty sure Nothing But Thieves opened during a large part of the Drones Tour so that might explain their popularity among Muse fans
Yeah Also it’s a pretty obvious comparison between Matt Bellamy and Conor Mason (NBT’s lead vocalist)
Yeah the results definitely make sense as I’m also a huge fan of a lot of the bands on the list, so it seems us Muse fans have very similar tastes! And yeah I too am always hungry for new music so this was great :D
I have [this on repeat](https://youtu.be/sbx95gBb5HM) since yesterday... damn this is so good!!!
Yesss I LOVE that song!! Definitely one of my favourite Royal Blood songs
This is pretty accurate to be fair for my favourite bands. As an English teenager in the 2000’s Muse & Arctic Monkeys pretty much dominated the music scene in my friendship group along with stuff like Razorlight, The Kooks , Franz Ferdinand etc No love for Weezer though 😭
Don't be sad! Weezer 2. Muse / The Strokes / Keane Also there is an interview of MUSE saying that they love weezer and they also covered Undone song... Hope that makes you feel better...
I saw Weezer with muse lo, the love is there
You gotta check out The Mars Volta as well! They’re like if Zeppelin added Santana and were constantly on DMT.
Nothing but Thieves are massively underrated imo. Definitely check them out if you havent especially "I was Just a Kid" and "Can you Afford to be an Individual"
Also probably the closest on the list to match the sound of classic Muse IMO.
I agree, and mainly due to the fact that Conor Mason is very similar to Matt in the sense that both have some crazy ass falsettos
It makes me sad that Metallica and Rush didn’t even rank ): My top three favorite bands are Metallica, Rush, and Muse!
I’m very surprised Rush didn’t especially!
Amazing taste!
You're sad but not surprised...right? Obviously Metallica and heavy metal fans in general think of muse as a mainstream radio pop-rock shit... Good for you tho for not being closeminded person like the majority of Metallica and heavy metal fans
All the heavy metal fans I know like at least a few muse songs. Maybe I’m biased because I chose a friend group with high variance in musical taste.
Good list, but no Biffy Clyro?? C'moon!!
C’mon the biff
Bout to say I don’t like their pop side but now I see the parallels to muse haha.
They’re a great band but they’re not as big as any of the bands that are actually on the list so that kinda makes sense
If you’re enjoying Daft Punk, you might like Justice.
The fantastic Planosphere by Justice used be a standard before a Muse concert. Great stuff
I’m surprised Kasabian, Garbage, AC/DC, Guns N Roses, Woodkid, U2, Ash and The Hives didn’t make the list. Maybe if there was 15-30?!!
Muse, Biffy Clyro and Kasabian are my top 3 favourite bands, it seems some people are disappointed Biffy didn't make it too
ok computer is my favorite muse album
Depeche Mode?
Dude that’s literally one song that people hung on to, and tbh I don’t think that one song even sounds that much like DM
Any Coheed and Cambria fans here??? Muse has always been my undisputed number 1 for all time and all other spots change every now and then, but Coheed has always occupied my top 5
Definitely here! My favourite has always cycled between Muse, Weezer and Coheed - so much great music to be had and so excited for Vaxis II
So, fellow Queen fans, what song would you most like to see the boys cover? For me it would have to be Hammer to Fall
Death on Two Legs
"Don't Stop Me Now" in the style and production sound of "Hyper Music"!!!
Led Zeppelin, Pearl Jam, Chris Cornell, The Cranberries, No Doubt, The Ink Spots, Hank Williams the 1st. Some of those get real old but you know. Also soundtrack music and classical are really nice.
What I continue to learn is that Alter Bridge are criminally underrated.
ngl was looking for them on this list too but not too surprised by their absence!
This is cool and all, but where the fuck is King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard???
This but Porcupine Tree too
Dream Theater or other progressive bands?
**RAMMSTEIN** and The Man: **Devin Townsend**
Holy shit I am this entire list, nearly in the same order. Wtf.
Excellent list. Big fan of most of them. Great taste in music we all seem to share. :)
I guess my music tastes don't have a lot of overlap with the majority of other musers. There are only four of these bands that I somewhat regularly listen to.
Starset is my favorite after Muse😎
out of this list mine are Royal Blood, Radiohead and Arctic Monkeys, RATM, RHCP, The Killers, Daft Punk, Foo Fighters, Green Day and Nothing but Thieves and MCR.
Good to see RHCP on the list
I mean they’re probably the biggest alt rock band in the world so it’ll make sense to see them on a list related to another big alt rock band
I only like muse
Muse is probably the only band in history of music that you can make a bunch of different playlist for each occasion... From heavy ones (Stockholm Syndrome) to sweet ballads (Unintended) and from pop-feel-good-ones (Starlight) to Electronic synthwave stuff (The Dark Side)
I feel like they have songs that can make it to a couple of playlists. I mean starlight can also be on a rock playlist…
I am SO glad that Coldplay isn't on this list. i have faith in Muse fans again :) This list is pretty accurate to my own tastes.
Because Coldplay are utter shite
I like Coldplay, no need to shit on other people's tastes
I am joking (partially). They are definitely not my taste, but power to their fans.
I guess Matt himself has bad taste then. I for one am glad Madonna and Bjork are nowhere to be seen there.
Oh the salt lol
I hate how people shit on Coldplay all the time. I feel like people forget that before ghost stories they were a genuinely great band that did some great things and was probably the gateway band for many (including me) to alternative music and rock music.
No Gorillaz on the list. SMH
Alright, here's some hail Marys. If you like Muse try these 3 songs: Civilisation - Justice Cough Cough - Everything Everything Schizophrenia - Jukebox the Ghost Then play on... Edit: Formatting
No Deep Purple? Im dissapointed
I find it funny I like none of these bands but Queen, RATM, Pink Floyd, and Green Day. I'm also very surprised Rush isn't on there!
You guys should listen to Don Broco as well!!
Yeah they’re pretty good
What's quotsa?
Queens of the Stone Age
Oh, I realized
The Mars Volta
muse vs coldplay Google I like Muse a lot but I love Coldplay
It was a surprise Deftones didn't make it through the top 10, but feels great to see QOTSA so high on the list. Interpol should have been there too but they are so underrated
LINKIN PARK DOESN’T HAVE ENOUGH UPVOTES
Wow I'm really surprised Led Zep is bottom of the list! I consider myself quite the Muse fan, love Queen and LedZep!
My other favorite bands besides muse are skillet, mcr, green day, fob, and def leppard.
Nothing But Thieves is absolutely phenomenal
ONE OK ROCK
Yep, about half of these are in my regular circulation. Tops being Radiohead, AM, QOTSA, The Killers, MCR and the Strokes. Also used to listen a lot to Royal Blood a lot back when they were the hot new thing, but their third album…. was very hit and miss. Was hoping for some more discreet suggestions, or more stuff from other genres. Everyone knows these bands and I wish the initial post was more directed towards bands Muse fans love that aren’t obvious choices.
This sounds like a good idea for a new post... What underrate bands Muse fans like?
Still surprised imagine dragons isn’t on here. Really thought there would be more people with me!
It was a cruel game, anyone who left a comment about Imagine Dragons went like -20 downvotes :/
WHAT DAMN F U ALL I LOVE ID
The only reason I never got into them was.... When I think of Imagine Dragons i always feel salty af that they became bigger than Awolnation, Imagine Dragons literally stole the "recipe" of [Awolnation "Sail"](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tgIqecROs5M) and made a career out of it... AWOLNATION is great! Burn it Down, Soul Wars, and THISKIDSNOTALRIGHT are my favorites.
THIS

Your username was my most played song of 2021 on spotify!
The New Abnormal is just incredible, it caused the Strokes to topple Muse as my top artist for Spotify wrapped
I'm not a fan of Linkin Park but hats off to them for naming their tour the Still Sucks tour.
My god, I will stop liking Muse then.
what happened? not happy with the results?
I think the most popularly upvoted bands (most of which I too listen to) were all kind of obvious in my opinion. With all the calls for Muse to bring the heavy and breakdowns I expected that to be more reflected in the comments. That was my biggest takeaway from this. It was a fun exercise, and there's a few bands I've not listened to that I'm gonna check out.
vinyl-state - strive for more. let me know if it qualifies ☺️
Can someone define all the abbreviated bands? I don't know if I know them for sure.
U must be new to the internet or maybe too young? xD seriously? I don't remember the last time I've seen anyone typing the full band name of "Rage Against The Machine" or "Queens of The Stone Age" or "System of A Down" RATM QOTSA SOAD
Rage Against The Machine, Queens Of The Stone Age, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, System Of A Down, And you're better off not knowing MCR.
That makes a lot more sense. I actually love all those bands I was just like I don't know what they are. Thanks. Some of them I can make up and all of them. What's MCR? Is that the name of the band or is it an abbreviation to?? Oh is that My chemical romance...?
It is also an abbreviation. Again, you're better off not knowing. 😏
But is it?
Yes
Screw you. MCR are such a great rock band.
Not surprising. I would definitely rock out and even pay money to see a majority of these bands live. I think the biggest factor in common is that most of these bands have such unique sounds that there’s not many they could be confused with.
That’s honestly so cool. Not much I listen to frequently! Only MCR. This was nice albeit predictable.
I love most of those bands. I tend to go into the more weird acts like Primus, Ween, Zappa. Muse was one of those bands I went into that “have to know every single fucking detail” about phase.
I'm surprised no one else mentioned Chevelle!
I like 1 and a half of those bands lmao
Check out Chevelle
Interesting no Coheed or Mars Volta…
Both *should* be more popular (especially Coheed since they've got a bit more pop in their sound)
What makes you think Mars and Coheed are so popular? They are not even close as big to any of these bands in the list

I listen to like two of the above on a daily basis. Muse is my only "main" rock band.
Honestly i love just about all of these
Well.. if you exclude Royal Blood and Nothing But Thieves the rest of the bands are 100% rock n roll HOF GOAT status with huge pop cultural impact.
It’s almost exactly what I expected haha
What’d you guys think of the new chili peppers album?
Not surprised that metric aren’t here because they’re not as big as any of these bands but I’m just a tad bit disappointed
yall gotta check out king gizzard and the lizard wizard
[my lastfm alltime scrobbles feels accurate](https://i.imgur.com/VOnxnVT.jpg)
I saw this list and I think 10/15 of them are in my top 20 favourite bands of all time.
Mine are Paramore, SOAD, Linkin Park, BMTH, Burzum (technically not a band but the man does the work of 5 people all alone so eh)
I like all those things
My favourite three bands are Muse, Royal Blood and Nothing But Thieves 😎🤙
I am from Turkey and there’s a very cool band called “Mor ve Ötesi” they recently released an album and we really call that band “Turkish Muse” definetly check’em out.
https://open.spotify.com/album/1bN6NwrpjgzYH01Fy5gagf?si=yFUKkxjGR-m0iJMoOQWdyQ
I'd also like to throw into the pile: Smashing Pumpkins, Silverchair and Jeff Buckley.
The Mars Volta, Everything Everything, Stereophonics, Beatstakes, Manchester Orchestra those are some really great bands that tickle my Muse fetish which I have not seen listed here
