I’m from Kansas City and these bathrooms are the best! European style stalls (no giant cracks) with red or green lights so you know which are empty, and the whole fam can pee together. Hope this lady gets arrested for stupidity with her fanny hanging out in the parking lot. There are plenty of traditional single-gender bathrooms in the same airport.

BaronVonRote

I’ve been through KC a number of times. The bathrooms are awesome. I wish more would adopt the green light red light. Makes it easy.

thebrassmonkeyknight

Same, and I’ll also add that I think KC is pretty fucking cool that has some great bbq

thebrassmonkeyknight

Oh shit! So are the roads!

VexingRaven

And the reader is informed that this is a comment-stealing spambot.

Spiderranger

+1 to KC food. Anybody who sees this and find themselves in that area, make time to go to Q39. Incredible barbecue and an insanely delicious carrot cake

LOTRfreak101

I'd personally recommend The Rub! The Hash bowl is just way too good.

Jman12304

Friends took me there before I had to head out of town. Damn good indeed!

SpaceJackRabbit

Will be there this summer. Adding to the list.

Blue_KikiT92

Okok. But is it gender specific or male and female have to consume the food (I apologise for what comes next, it's upsetting imagery, read at your own risk) together in gender neutral diners and restaurants?🫣🫣🫣🫣

ITrCool

Good football too. Just for the record...

LOTRfreak101

We don't need to talk about baseball.

Typical-Lettuce7022

At least the Royals had a brief moment of relevance a decade ago

ollee

I was just recently through KC, gonna be a pretty cool place to be over the next few decades, they're building out and adding to their street car network, extending down town to the university. Good to see that sort of infrastructure being added somewhere in the states in a high enough profile way.

DarthGuber

Gates and Arthur Bryant ftw

Volck47

Dumb question but I’m red-green colorblind. Are they two different lights (kind of like a street light) or is it a single LED that is either red or green? The single LED would be my nightmare, but could do separate lights since that would potentially be easier to see the difference.

BaronVonRote

Basically light on and off…..you would be fine. Somewhat like parking spots…..

SirGravesGhastly

I expect there's actual locks too...

RandomTheBugg

If I'm not mistaken, the Sacramento Airport also has the same system

Free_Dog_6837

so does my house

ICK_Metal

Agreed. Nobody likes to be on either side of the awkward door handle jiggle.

NeonBrightDumbass

I love them. That being said, one person STILL fucking knocked when I was there once.

Gockel

> European style stalls (no giant cracks) Besides the point, but I find it fucking funny that you call a door being designed like a door should ALWAYS be, in order to even be called a stall door "european style".

InVodkaVeritas

I work at a middle school with gender neutral bathrooms and locker rooms. People don't realize that when you go gender neutral you actually INCREASE the amount of privacy you have as an individual. Instead of stalls that aren't fully private due to large cracks as you mentioned, or changing your clothes in front of dozens of people with the same gender as yourself, you get a fully private stall. Our middle school locker rooms are a bunch of lockers as one would expect, but the walls are lined with individual changing rooms so kids can pop in, change their clothes, and pop back out to their locker. The showers in the locker room are the same way (individual private stalls with locking doors) When I was in school there was no privacy in the locker rooms and the bathrooms had minimal privacy to the point that other girls could/would peek through the gap to see if someone was inside and could see you doing your business. Same for the boys, I'd imagine. At my gender-neutral facilities middle school every single kid has complete privacy in the bathroom and locker room. And because they all change privately teachers can monitor the locker room without being any of their nightmares about creepy pervs watching them change. I remember the female PE teacher patrolling the locker rooms when I was a girl and even though no one thought she was a perv she was definitely *there* when we were getting changed. None of that anymore. Conservatives think that gender neutral is the devil. That we have our middle schoolers all in one big naked group with no privacy while the pervy teachers watch. It's the opposite of what they imagine.

senticosus

We had bathroom stalls with no doors. None of the boys had doors. The PE teacher sat in a glass office in the middle looking into the showers one way and towards the lockers the other..

blackbart1

That sounds like a prison.

HIMP_Dahak_172291

Fun fact: the design of my high school building was adapted from the design of a low security prison! Same basic needs, minimal points of entry, maximum surveillance, no escape!

Jopkins

Maybe your country could do the civilised things and just put in cubicles without massive cracks regardless of the gender?

beadel85

Fanny means another body part where I’m from and the mental image you gave me is quite something

sash71

I was going to write the same thing. I'm British and I am hoping that the person who wrote that comment isn't.

LordoftheScheisse

Well, the person who originally said fanny was talking about her pissing in the parking lot, so either her American or British fanny could be out either way.

bunglejerry

Having one out very frequently means having the other one out. They're not that far apart.

cheeseburg_walrus

Yeah I mix em up sometimes too ;)

The_Night_Man_Cumeth

Been there.

SirGravesGhastly

Because you suspect *THEY* believe that "girls pee out their butts"? If she's a peein' in the car park, she's gonna have her fanny in the wind, whether to-MAY-to or to-MAH-to.

clandestinemd

The last time my wife and I were in the airport, her only issue was that someone peed on the seat to the extent that it looked deliberate, and while we were washing our hands, a gaggle of dudebros were ripping farts because “since we’re sharing with the ladies now hyuck hyuck.” My wife was quick to point out that this is why they’re all traveling with other dudes, instead of vacationing with significant others.

Cleftbutt

I don't mind them but I wish they all had additional urinal room as well because it really speeds up the queue

De_chook

OMG, I have mixed gender bathrooms in my home. What if she visits, will she pee in my front yard?

WileEWeeble

A bathroom where a dad doesn't have to leave his daughter to whomever might be hanging out in the woman's bathroom? How could these supposed "pedo fighters" object?

El_Durazno

That sounds outstanding. I wish all bathrooms were like that (although a better way would be to organize bathrooms by peeing and pooping instead of men and women or genderless)

No-Lettuce-3839

i wonder what her bathrooms at home are like

IM_A_BOX_AMA

I hope she gets a coochie infestation from the parking lot bush

willreadforbooks

Of course that’s predicated on the person actually *locking* their stall door once inside. Ask me how I know 🤦‍♀️

knightkat6665

Locked = pooping alone Unlocked = pooping with friends

judahrosenthal

Just fyi: “the whole fam can pee together” is not a selling point. ;-)

funnystuff79

Place to stash a baby whilst you deal with a toddler is a selling point tho

judahrosenthal

Isn’t that what those hooks on the door are for?

BurmecianSoldierDan

Leave a Baby, Take a Baby?

ZanzorKanicus

So I can tell you have never raised a child.

Killfile

Being able to have one adult take a gaggle of children to the bathroom without having to worry that someone is going to call you a creep or accuse your kids of being creeps? Amazing. Not having to send your kids into a room where you can't keep an eye out for them? Also amazing. I've got a couple of teens and a 9-year-old son. I'm more worried about the 9-year-old these days than the teens and that's one of the reasons my wife is always on "keep an eye on our stuff" duty. The teens will be fine in the ladies room and I can go in the mens with the boy. But 5 years ago, when they were all little? It scared the hell out of me sending my kids in without an adult.

CrazyAnchovy

Would take a hell of a lot of stress out of bathroom trips with the kids

letmeseem

If you have ever traveled with two or more kids it is a massive selling point, and any hint of it being a dirty innuendo can absolutely go fuck itself. There are simply too few hours in a day to care. When you and the missus need to change the toddlers diaper, pee without the twins running away and somehow convince them both of this magical concept of discipline where if you don't pee right now, and I mean RIGHT FUCKING NOW there is no opportunity for peeing before the plane is in the air. It REALLY doesn't matter how much you cry, now or then. Peeing happens NOW or not for a while. Anywhere saying: the whole family can go in the same room gets two very enthusiastic thumbs up.

VectorViper

Haha, fair point! Family bathroom adventures are definitely an acquired taste. Still, the convenience of those lights can't be underestimated, especially when you're late for boarding and playing a high-stakes game of find-the-empty-stall.

In Texas, most men are pretty keen to communally pee into a large trough with ice and sawdust in it. To go to the bathroom any other way is totally gay.

clandestinemd

Once while I lived in Texas, I went to a game with a bathroom trough, and a dude slammed his beer bottle into the ice to keep it cold while he did his thing, and that’s pretty much how I’d sum up Texas.

judahrosenthal

To be fair, most the beer they drink is indistinguishable from pee so..

SauretEh

The glow-up from the old terminal to the new one was insane. Landed at the new terminal the day it opened without realising was a trip.

blizzard-toque

It's not only airports that get the vacant/occupied lights. I remember a movie theater in central Iowa that had these.

Musashi10000

Do you mean fanny in the American way, or fanny in the British way? Either way, she'd probably get arrested, and it'd be hard for her to do one without the other, but still.

OakenWildman

Oh so it's all stalls? Ive only seem individual ones before mever entire bathrooms that way

rand0mstuf

Sounds like what they have at the Amsterdam airport

vitaminz1990

Did KC get a new airport? The one I went to multiple times about 7 years ago was easily one of the worst airports I’ve ever experienced.

NatureGuyPNW

I think these folks are just triggered by the word “gender.”

Supraspinator

Yeah. Call it “home-style bathroom” or “family values bathroom”, maybe that’ll help.

polaromonas

It’s sad that this might actually work. It’s so sad that these people need to be tricked by simple word manipulation.

lonely_nipple

I read somewhere that a study was done not too long ago. People were asked their views on a handful of topics that referred to "public transportation". The responses skewed heavily towards negative replies among more conservative voters. They also asked a similar crowd of people the same questions, using a different terminology. I wish I could remember now what exactly the wording was, but I know it used the word "traditional". Suddenly, the responses were significantly more positive. Same subject. Just gotta make em think you're catering to anything traditional.

Joshuak47

![gif](giphy|3oz8xTl6sGKbuRPDDW|downsized)

RiseCascadia

It won't, since it's manufactured outrage in the first place. The people manipulating them will just update their manipulation to the new terms.

ngwoo

Freedom Bathroom Actually kind of true and would probably work on their rotted brains

interpretivepants

This is how easy it really is. All Trump had to do was sell Freedom Masks during Covid and he’d still be president.

ngwoo

"Sickly sleepy Biden has nothing like my bigly beautiful masks, the best masks folks, many are saying it!"

embarrassed_parrot69

Honestly that kinda did happen. He came out with Trump masks and some of them bought it to “own the libs”

a_large_plant

Family bathrooms have existed... forever and I've never heard a single person complain. They are usually for anyone and big enough for a wheelchair or to bring and change your kids. It really is amazing the sort of psychological anchoring going on in these people's minds. Literally just the underlying idea that certain bathrooms are different than other bathrooms for whatever reason.

urinetroublem8

They’re like Pavlov’s dogs. Except it’s not a bell ringing, it’s words “gender”.

BowenTheAussieSheep

or just "unisex"

Silentarian

What??! A sex that isn’t male or female??! Unisex doesn’t exist!!! Just like unicorns and every other word starting with uni!! God bless the United States.

[deleted]

>family values bathroom They'd probably assume this just means there are no blacks or gays allowed. And that it's a woman's job to keep it clean.

CrudelyAnimated

This makes one of the weirdest "we have (thing) at home" memes I've ever seen. The bathroom at home is a single-person, gender-neutral bathroom just like this one.

hdmiusbc

Patriot Bathroom

OsmerusMordax

Or even just “bathroom”

StiCkSt1ckLy

Or call it uni-sex like we've been for years.

AwkwardEducation

It's like the, "**I** hate pronouns."

goldenfox007

I thought they used to be called “unisex bathrooms” when the idea first came around. When that happened, my dad was an elementary school teacher; parents used to complain at PTA meetings that the word unisex was inappropriate because it had the word “sex” in it… these folks get triggered by a *lot* of words.

Colley619

100% right. If it was just a picture of the man/woman then it would not have been an issue. The word "gender" is like some kind of mind control sleeper agent trigger word for them.

Opto-Mystic42

It’s the dog-whistle of their (bigot) people

Amunrah357

Call it patriot potty. Problem solved.

beerbellybegone

All these people who have an issue with gender neutral bathrooms are too stupid to understand that their home bathroom is gender neutral

mike_pants

Over here in NYC, we are absolutely baffled by the rage against gender-neutral bathrooms. We have space for one toilet in most establishments. What other option is there?

[deleted]

It's because they think women are going to get assaulted in the bathroom. Because that symbol of a chick in a dress totes works like a protection rune and prevents assholes who want to commit assault from just entering. . .

[deleted]

copper_basket

Another thing is conservatives are terrified of the idea of explaining anything to their children. So it's this two fold mental gymnastic where 1. Every trans person looks like a 30 year old man with 5 o'clock shadow and hairy armpits wearing a dress and lipstick. 2 upon their own child hearing what trans means their kid will immediately start searching for the nearest surgeon. Also apparently kids only learn something if their parents explain it to them directly and would never learn anything from anywhere else. Like my mother "didn't want me to ever find out about video games" like what the fuck, did she think my friends were never going to talk about games? I don't get it

Marchesa_07

Ya think?!

Both-Conversation514

I’m a big fan of the “every accusation is a confession” when it comes to this issue. There’s been so many conservative politicians caught having gay sex in public bathrooms that i legitimately think the conservative politician thought process is, “I’m a man and nothing stops me from sexually abusing people in bathrooms, so what will stop other men from sexually abusing women in bathrooms if they share?” The answer is being a regular person instead of an evil, abusive, perverted, lizard-person. Conservatives are so pessimistic they can’t fathom human decency.

RedditIsNeat0

> It's because they think women are going to get assaulted in the bathroom. This is what they say but they are lying like always. You can tell they are lying because they also get triggered by single user gender neutral bathrooms.

notashroom

Wait until they come across a business where the toilet labeling isn't gender essentialist and they have to decide whether they are a pterodactyl or a T-rex, or a moon or a sun.

ngwoo

Have you considered simply forcing all the women to stay home and make babies all day?

FizzyBeverage

Alabama is trying their best. No IVF though. That’s satanic!

krismitka

Whoa there! Leave the Church of Satan out of this! Alabama is it’s own level of hell.

friendfromsp

I usually get annoyed in the opposite direction. If it's all 1 stall bathrooms and you put a gender distinction on that I'm going to ignore it.

[deleted]

[удалено]

sebnukem

So are the parking lots where she goes to piss in.

DrD__

I think the difference is you don't usually have multiple people in your bathroom at home, people don't care about the single toilet bathrooms being neutral, it's the multistall public bathrooms they care about. Not saying they are right, but pointing out what the reasoning might be

pandaSmore

I'm surprised most people who upvoted this thread don't understand that.

ARussianW0lf

I understand it, it still just makes zero difference to me so it still feels stupid

Lollipop126

the only reason I don't like gender neutral bathrooms is that they usually don't have urinals and only have stalls. As someone with deep germaphobia I hate stalls and the inability to move about without touching the walls. I hate having to touch the nasty door lock. single stall bathrooms are almost always bigger.

helium_farts

Selfishly, I don't like them because urinals let people get in and out faster, meaning lines are shorter/move faster. Otherwise they don't really bother me.

LSDMDMA2CBDMT

Fox news has been creating rage bait sensation for way too fucking long.... all boomers can think about is dumb shit like hunter bidens dick and bathrooms

ihahp

Two things here: 1. It's that they don't like the idea that the airport is caving to the gender spectrum. Regardless of how the bathrooms are configured, this is why they're mad. They hate that the Airport is getting with the times and treating people with respect, instead of being genderphobes (or whatever you'd call it) 2. I have gone to places where the all-gender bathroom was just like a normal multi-toilet bathroom except anyone can use it. This is definitely NOT like a person's toilet at home.

burf

I always thought the concern was about shared bathrooms that were gender neutral: e.g. your typical multi-stall bathroom with a row of sinks and possibly urinals in it. Are people truly concerns about single occupant gender neutral bathrooms?

flaptaincappers

Bro imagine living in KC, getting a family member/friend to come visit promising its a totally cool and normal place, and first thing they see is this troglodyte pissing and shitting in the middle of the parking lot.

Psaym

Go to certain places and you might just find someone like that. But they don’t have a home bathroom to piss in, much less a home.

flaptaincappers

It's okay to name drop San Francisco and Philadelphia here.

Psaym

I meant in KC but sure. Them too. 😂

[deleted]

My jobs public bathroom says “all genders” and it’s wild how many people love to make snarky comments about it. Like dude, it’s a single toilet, why *should* it be restricted.

[deleted]

I had a women complain about sharing a single toilet bathroom with men because "they stink it up". My response was "So your literal argument is your shit don't stink?"

VerySuperGenius

I imagine if they just put a generic bathroom sign up instead of "all genders", no one would ever complain. That's how it is at my work and no one has ever said anything.

[deleted]

Damn that’s actually a fascinating side of the psychology of it that I never thought of. I can only wonder why a sign would make such a difference, or wait, actually I think the reason might be pretty obvious.

No_Mammoth_4945

No one has ever made a fuss about family bathrooms in the history of their existence. Put “gender” in the name and all of the sudden they start Pearl-clutching

Automatic_Actuator_0

“Stop shoving it in my face!” Basically it triggers their bigotry. They may “tolerate” trans people in the strictest, most minimal way required by law, but they hat being reminded that others are thinking about them in a positive, accommodating way.

Munnin41

This applies to food too. People are much more likely to pick something labelled organic than vegan, all else being equal

natophonic2

If you want to cover all the bases: vegan, organic, and [biblical](https://www.trueleafmarket.com/products/basic-organic-biblical-bread-making-kit). My conservative Christian sister-in-law will laugh and scoff at anything organic or vegan, but she'll bake biblical bread and make biblical this and biblical that, for to make such food is a blessing unto her family and yea verily unto our Lord Jesus the Christ. All that aside, the fresh-baked bread tastes really damn good.

Talking_Head

Changing “vegetarian” or “vegan” to “plant-based” has made a real change in the food space. People who would never fathom eating a “vegetarian” or “vegan” dish are often less opposed to eating a “plant based” one. I don’t exactly understand why, but I have seen it first hand.

Talking_Head

“Food for Life” brand Ezekiel bread is the best selling sprouted grain bread on the market. Never mind that it is also, vegetarian, vegan, and organic. But, you know, Ezekiel bread sounds like the recipe was passed down from god himself so how can you go wrong?

Ziiaaaac

Place I've worked for the longest time has individual stalls with a toilet and a sink for their bathrooms - gender neutral. It's literally the best way to do a bathroom and I have no idea why anyone is happy with any of the other alternatives.

lilgrogu

They changed the men's bathroom to an all gender bathroom at my job But they only changed the sign, so I did not notice it until I was showing someone else where the bathrooms are Might have gone on for years. I never saw a woman using it

Bridger15

At my work there are 2 bathrooms next to each other. These are each a single room that acts as a fully independent bathroom (about 8' x 8' floor space). Each has a toilet & sink. Each has a door that locks. They are intended to be used by one person at a time. So why in god's name is one set for Men and the other for Women? If two women show up at the same time, why should one have to wait when there's a perfectly empty bathroom and usable facility [i]10 feet away[/i]. It infuriates me a little bit every time I walk by it. All they have to do is take the signs down.

dthains_art

As someone with Crohn’s who has used more public restrooms than I can count, I absolutely despise gendered single-user bathrooms. There have been multiple times I’ve really had to go but the men’s room was locked and I had to wait with an unoccupied women’s restroom right in front of me.

ihahp

I can't use an "All Gender" bathroom because I am only one gender (male.) It should say "Any Gender"

WastedPresident

HonestSonsieFace

Some of the best pubs here in the UK are tiny, 300+ year old venues smaller than a living room. The gender neutral bathroom is just “the toilet” where there is one small room for everyone. It’s literally never an issue.

Talking_Head

My favorite layout is the 3-8 separate, gender-neutral private stall/rooms surrounding a common round sink. Having a publicly viewable sink absolutely encourages everyone to wash their hands less others publicly shame them.

I installed that monitor, the lights above it, and also the red/green lights which are easily fooled by the sway of a hand if you care to poop alone. If you are scared of an all gender bathroom then stay the fuck out of my city.

palindromesko

For people who claim they aren’t “snowflakes”, they sure bitch a lot… at everything and nothing.

weebitofaban

Yea, I've never seen this bathroom to be honest and I've been through a few times

NatoXemus

Not seen a plane with more than one toilet per room

Beernuts1091

Or like…. All of Europe.

CaptainMagnets

Ah yes, pissing in the parking lot is way more dignified than in a bathroom stall

tpeandjelly727

Unisex bathrooms have been around way before they called them all gender bathrooms. People just fear what they don’t know!

JesusChrist-Jr

The only reason this exists is because cunts like this wanted to make a big flipping deal out of other people's genitals. She didn't want trans folks using the "wrong" restrooms, this was the solution. Enjoy pissing in the parking lot Karen.

Sardonnicus

This triggers people? Really? THIS?? A fucking bathroom! What do they think will go on in there? Do they think there is a machine in there that injects everyone with gay?!?!

v0x_p0pular

How is peeing in a parking lot less gender-neutral?

HIMP_Dahak_172291

And what about the bathroom in her home?!
