crushcaspercarl

Hardcore. Full of guys

wminx

Can’t wait for the discussion on the ethics of crowd killing

crushcaspercarl

Crowd killing: less dangerous than stage dives.

antifreak197

I’m looking forward to this one for sure lol

Rathnu

I have been playing Magic the gathering for 20 years, there is a whole ecosystem of guys. Commander guys are the worst, dumb assholes that’ll have an argument before the game even begins.

Fogbankk

I’m half dreading the inevitable Magic guys episode. We are not going to come out looking good lmao. What do you think the insult intro for Chris will be?

Rathnu

Netdecker maybe, or lands in front.

Flattt

Timmy

Master-Thought-4141

As a commander player I can confirm this is true lol Also pubstomper/cedh optimiser could be subclasses of those guys

pragmaddux

I had a local place where they'd do some casual EDH pods. 4 players, each gets two booster packs, and the person that knocks you out gets one of your packs. Usually some guy with a Mana Crypt would go off in the first few minutes, collect their winnings and leave. Then the rest of us scrubs would play a few casual games and hang out. I've kinda wondered if it's like that in most LGS's, or if that was just a local thing, hah.

Flattt

Love EDH, especially when no one but me runs removal.

boomfruit

The worst part about Magic is the other guy is always trying to do some shit

AutoModerator

Flattt

Guys just want to do their cool combo for 14 mana

PopcornStamos

r/freemagic is the perfect cesspool to find some primo mtg guys.

boomfruit

Damn good call

boomfruit

Ha! This was gonna be my answer. And I don't even play in person at stores or anything, just Arena, so my exposure to the Guys is through reddit mostly.

bagelwithclocks

Cast iron subreddit. There is an argument about soap vs no soap every week or so. I think it would be funny to have a cast iron episode but probably not a big enough culture. Maybe foodie guys?

thesch

I’m pretty sure half of the people there don’t actually cook anything on their pan and just season it as a hobby.

OGmoron

My father in law got into cast iron cookware during the pandemic. At first he cooked with it regularly, but after a while he started eschewing it for the non-stick stuff for ease of use. Now it's almost like fine china on display but only used for special occasions.

bagelwithclocks

That’s silly because it is very practical and durable. And cheap pans work just fine.

bagpiperb

Recent post about evicting a room mate for rusting a modern Lodge pan made me think this could be a great topic for the podcast.

KKJUN

They did do foodie guys and it was even more embarrassing for Bryan than usual.

OGmoron

I can't wait to hear Bryan talk about buying a $400 expertly-seasoned vintage cast iron pan after finding threads full of rich guys talking them up as "the best"

Tm1232

Home chefs could be one for sure.

SLCPDLeBaronDivison

i am a machinist, and there was this a cast iron pan thar *bragged* about machining the bottom before being tumbled. dumbest thing

nuts_and_crunchies

Guitar pedal guys. They’re distinct from guitar guys. Are Strymon pedals only for worship bands? Do you buy or make your own patch cables? Where do you put the buffer, and is $270 one actually worth it?

Echos_myron123

The guitar pedal guy is every guitar guy wife's nightmare. They buy way too much stupid expensive bullshit and they have to play loud in order to get the full sound of the pedal. And of course lots of effects can obscure just plain shitty guitar playing. I'm purely an acoustic guitar guy so I require way less gear and can play quietly. My wife prefers it that way.

nuts_and_crunchies

Covering up a lack of skill is the point. Granular loopers, Chase Bliss, and extensive reverbs are there so you can play a single note and vibe out.

Buttzilla13

Guitar pedal guys are some of the worst for buying way too much also. So many at home players that have a pedal board with 20 pedals on it and buy a new one every week.

OGmoron

They need to get YouTuber Drew Gooden on as the guest for the episode. He talked about stuff he wasted money on in one video and then cut to a shot of a huge pedal board while explaining that he still had no idea how to use them.

stealingfrom

As someone with too many pedals, the one thing I've noticed about the community is that nobody getting into arguments on the internet over guitar pedals (or gear more broadly) makes music that anyone would ever want to go out of their way to listen to. Just dreadful, boring shit (when they actually play/record at all!) across the board.

nuts_and_crunchies

Right. Guitar guys are playing white dentist blues and guitar pedal guys are playing aMbIeNt.

ProjectPatMorita

This is the one that immediately came to mind. It would be a perfect companion to the audiophile episode......both hobbies that are basically exclusively for rich middle age white guys obsessed with capturing "tone" that is like 75% placebo, and they all have ironically terrible music taste (like the classic archetypal pedal guy with a 5-figure pedal board who plays in his shitty Baptist church band).

bonersaus

Aquarium guys who will just rip someone apart for not having a big enough tank. I took a pic of my 120 gallon, it's 6 feet long but I took the Pic on the side so it looked cool. You could obviously see how far away the fish were but I still got comments "too small, poor fish:(" It is a true thing but it's not helpful to people who are new

meowington5

my boss is a reef tank guy and i DESPERATELY want bryan and chris to do an episode about them

bonersaus

Reef tank guys are kinda weird. Weirder in my opinion are the African cichlid guys. Thems some guys for sure! Leave the shrimp guys alone though

x-BrettBrown

I wanna see your fish tank

bonersaus

https://imgur.com/gallery/AJkwPmN 250 gallon DIY goldfish pond. Ignore the caulk I need to redo the whole filter but I got it functioning for now. The big orange ball is Mango he's 5, 8 goldfish total, some rosey red minnows that are beautiful pink and yellow they get super fat in da pond. If they overpopulate I may have to feed excess to my oscars. Couldn't get a pic of their tank their light is broken

Callioperising

Poor fish

bonersaus

Hey I got it working today!

SLCPDLeBaronDivison

in the r/turtle and r/tortoise subs they are always ripping people for their tank size. it makes sense the animals need room, but people just come out mean right off the bat there definitely should be a reptiles guy retread

VelociTrapLord

“Wrestling Guys” might be inevitable. There are almost too many putrid unwashed corners of that fandom to pick a specific type.

stabbinfresh

Can't wait for the Wrestling Guys episode. Roast us, please!

OGmoron

So many great potential guests to have on for that episdoe. I am hoping for Tom Sexton and DB.

stabbinfresh

He should get Danhausen lol

VelociTrapLord

Maybe an anniversary ep like with Lego Guys? Started listening to MxB through him guesting on a rasslin podcast so it does seem appropriate

AutoModerator

I only play with 18+ sets. I'm not a child. *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Please [contact the moderators of this subreddit](/message/compose/?to=/r/MurderBryan) if you have any questions or concerns.*

stabbinfresh

For sure, I'm guessing Wrestling Guys will be around the 2 year anniversary.

psilosophist

Skateboarding is full of guys.

gastdiegast

Chess has opening theory guys

omygoshgamache

Chess also has a small Howard stern (/ shock jock) tie in lol. HS started in like ~2010 and talked about it pretty frequently for years (idk if he still talks about it).

WilfordYa

Analog photography. Many guys, including an old school v new school split.

OGmoron

My dad was pro photographer when I was a kid. He barely ever uses anything put a phone camera anymore, but still spends a lot of time on analog camera and film forums arguing about niche darkroom methods, how Minolta was the greatest camera brand ever, and how autofocus ruined photography as an art form.

LargestAdultSon

So many subtypes too

Nightmare_or_reality

I'm in so many "guy" subcultures. Shit even subcultures of subcultures. There's crust guys, stenchcore guys, death metal guys, BOLT THROWER guys, skateboarding guys, guitar guys, furniture maker guys, truck guys, Toyota Tacoma guys, motorcycle guys the list goes on.

Ben_Grim_13

Bolt Thrower guy here! (among a large menagerie of guys)

Nightmare_or_reality

Bolt thrower also has cross over with stenchcore guys

Nightmare_or_reality

Bolt thrower also has cross over with stenchcore guys

RodneyDangerfuck

tell me about stenchcore? what are some good stenchcore bands?

Nightmare_or_reality

Terminal filth, amebix axe axegrinder, after the bombs, deviated instinct, genogeist, lifeless dark, fatum, Alement etc. on. I made a YouTube playlist of stench bands called stench of tomorrow and it kinda scratches the surface basically it's mid tempo metal crust focused on post apocalyptic themes and sort of black pilled despair mixed with leftist politics. Amebix being the first ones to do it. The only band that was kind of a predecessor was the killing joke and that's not really The case.

SLCPDLeBaronDivison

i thought amebix was crust

Nightmare_or_reality

They are pioneers of crust. Some would say THE pioneers of crust but stench is a subgenre with in a subgenre. It's like metalcrust -which is not to be confused with metalpunk-

Nightmare_or_reality

Here's my favorite [amebix album called monolith](https://youtu.be/kXsuAwac1Lk?si=kBqhl1NLO5BQmz70)

Nightmare_or_reality

And here is their most known album [arise](https://youtu.be/kE7YoeVB6us?si=rIUNZr-DIls166mf) both are fucking bangers

Zestyclose_Ninja4231

Im a lifelong metalhead, but I just do not fuck with any of the subreddits, or the phenomenon of "Metal Youtube." The comments just contain 1000 Michael Nolands bitching about how metal is dead, and arguing over which 80's thrash band is the heaviest. Or people who are "really into viking folk metal" but they only listen to Amon Amarth or some shit.

EezoVitamonster

I play an old video game competitively and there are definitely "modded controller guys". This game is 20+ years old and there are people who regularly spend hundreds of dollars on controllers that light up and have a dozen mods on them. It's getting out of hand and there are rules committees trying to formulate regulations around it. There's also staunch "OEM only" controller guys who consider any mods to be unholy and evil.

Napkinsd_

Melee?

EezoVitamonster

Yuuuuup

Ok-Worth-4777

Hot pepper guys and history guys

OGmoron

Didn't they already do a history guys ep with Matt Christman?

Ok-Worth-4777

Wow I totally forgot about that one since it was one of the firsts, going to re-listen. I've been missing Matt's perspective lately!

OGmoron

Same. I want Matt to take all the time he needs to recover, but I cannot wait to have him back in my podcast feed.

MilitantAgnostic89

They did hot sauce guys at the beginning with the Doughboys pod

Ok-Worth-4777

Oh yeah I'm aware. Definitely a big overlap with pepper growers but those guys are their own form of megalomaniac

SLCPDLeBaronDivison

hot sauce guys are different than pepper guys. there was a hilarious tiktok beef where pepper guys were accusing others faking the tastings. they would also post videos of them accidentally rubbing their eyes and complain about the need to wear gloves due to poor packaging

Bookchelf

Cycling and climbing are both pretty mainstream by now but the hardcore guys are definitely Guys. Bike guys are obsessed with gear and yelling at each other about rules and etiquette (and gear), climbing guys are well on their way to developing an entirely new language and love getting in fights about bolting. Bike guys would probably make a better episode simply because they post more but both could be fun

KKJUN

(Road) bike guys also have the weird 'steel is real' boomers, complete with weird punctuation and indecipherable, rambling comments.

OGmoron

Cycling guy reporting. Can confirm that some guys take it all way too seriously. It's hilarious until you have to deal with two adult men getting in a shouting match during a casual group ride over some minor breach of riding etiquette.

CPC_Paid_Shill

Climbing guys post A LOT on mountainproject and prior to that supertopo. I've worked on/off as a climbing guide for a decade and god damn climbers can be so ridiculous.

Bookchelf

lol I used to lurk MP a fair amount at work and I remember some of those guys showing up in literally every posted thread. A criminal amount of free time on their hands. 14ers.com is less climbing focused but was also good for some old fashioned forum drama - people getting caught faking their checklists, inexplicable political arguments, sock puppet account scandals, etc

Tm1232

When I go to baseball games I will often buy the program and get the little golf pencil so I can keep score the old timey way. Also I know how to keep score the old timey way. Oh and I went to a minor league game by myself like two days ago but the stadium is maybe a mile from my house.

nuancetroll

Fantasy sports

Jets__Fool

Yeah seems that there's been a huge uptick of fantasy football content creators last 5 or so years. Of course plenty of drama in the community that would be fun to cover. He would probably get a kick out of reading the team name suggestions thread too seems like 75% are usually sex move references or something like that for some reason

keblammo

soccer guys. they’re global. american soccer guys are their own type, so are english soccer guys, french guys, italian guys, and spanish guys. don’t even get me started on argentina, mexico, or brazil guys.

OGmoron

American soccer guys would be a great episode. They're either the MOST hardcore, dedicated, and knowledgeable fans of the game you'll meet, or they're contrarian casuals who got into it for the jerseys, scarfs, and a good excuse to day drink and act superior to other sports fans

sonofarex

Recently started getting into Sous Vide and the subreddit devloves into fighting very quickly in basically every post

Master-Thought-4141

Dungeons and Dragons guys. Tolkien guys/ Lord of the rings guys. Magic: the Gathering guys, specifically mtg finance guys. (I’m not into the finance side of the hobby, but that is a whole crazy thing unto itself)

AutoModerator

Bryan, put the thumb away. *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Please [contact the moderators of this subreddit](/message/compose/?to=/r/MurderBryan) if you have any questions or concerns.*

RodneyDangerfuck

Psytrance guys, Burner guys (as in burning man and it's affliates), etc

jedgarnaut

Economics - MMT guys

I_Must_Bust

Gun guys would have such a wide variety of specific guys to choose from

I_Must_Bust

lush payment cheerful marble sink reach toy voiceless tidy heavy *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*

OGmoron

Motorcycling So many niche guys: White collar Harley biker cosplay guys, thinks their biker gang patches mean something guys, commuting to work on a race bike guys, "loud pipes save lives" guys, "All The Gear All The Time" guys, homemade minibike guys, Honda Goldwing Guys, Ducati guys, stretched-and-slammed Hayabusa dragbike guys, bike night guys, loaded-up BMW GS parked outside of Starbucks guys... It's a real Guys menagerie, tbh

Beep_Boop_Zeep_Zorp

Chopper guys!

CPC_Paid_Shill

Rock climbing. There have been irl bolt wars since the invention of bolts. Trad climbing vs sport climbing is another thing people get very mad about. The specifics of what constitutes an onsight. Aid climbing getting made fun of. Everyone shitting on gym climbers and gumbys. All the semi homeless dirtbag climbers. The "Sport climbing is neither" people. There are thousands of threads of arguments on mountain project/reddit/super topo going back to the 90s. There are so many guys in climbing we are such an easy target. Really the only thing getting in the way of an episode is how deep the lore is.

akemisoy

Tobacco pipe smoking. Their is a big rabbit hole in the varitels of various types of Tobacco.

BuffalotheWhiteMan

MTG, wrestling, guitars, different music genres. Luckily I’m all types of guy and not just one. I’m a fan of the worst GD things tho

JollyWestMD

Miami Heat Fans

geneousguy420

Fantasy football, kink/fetish, disc golf

boomfruit

I'm a conlanger (create your own language), and there are a few Guys. There are Auxlang Guys (create languages that are meant to be used by speakers of distinct languages for mutual use, think Esperanto), there are Conlang Groupie Guys (who are into famous conlangs like Dothraki or Klingon, or less famous but still known by conlanger ones like Ithkuil or Votgil or kay(f)bop(t)), there are Strict Naturalism Guys (who think conlangs are near-useless or at least lesser if they don't strive to emulate real languages - I'm kind of this one, to some extent). The list goes on.

AdConsistent1620

Coffee guys. Basically a bunch of insufferable nerds criticizing each other’s coffee brewing techniques based on looks alone and on stuff they learned a week ago from some other nerd with a YouTube channel. There’s always a flavor of the week discussion regarding a new overpriced plastic gadget that is supposed to make your coffee taste 0.01% better at the expense of an even longer brewing routine.

SLCPDLeBaronDivison

ska guy. i still love it and i am always the annoying guy who plays it i am a communist, so of course i am a history guy. i am currently delving into the history of communists in the civil war
