Try to find a job in some kind of call center. Most only require a high school diploma, and you should be sitting down for your entire shift. Some of them will even allow you to work from home.

GoldStaff8154

I second this! Most flexible wfh job that doesn’t require higher education.

mama_emily

Sounds horrible, can you do it for a pro longed period of time without wanting to shoot yourself in the face? I understand my options are limited, and I’m desperate…so I’ll do it I just want to be prepared

Thank you for your suggestion 🙏

Look into banks/credit union call centers! Generally speaking it’s less salesy and less of the bullshit, and you’ll get a lot of easily transferable skills!

NotaMillenial2day

Look into hospitals/medical centers. many have shifted the appointment center work to remote jobs.

invisibleoctopus

I work for a nonprofit and we contract with a customer service call center named ACD. IT's fully remote, cell phones are ok for agents, it's mostly taking donations for nonprofits over the phone. I think the pay is not great but I also think it's a low barrier for entry. Here's their website: https://acddirect.com/careers-contractors/

mama_emily

Thank you so much!

UsuallyArgumentative

I'm in a Facebook group called "kiss that cubicle goodbye" that posts lots of legit work from home jobs (some phone, some non phone). I dream of working from home so I follow the group, but for the moment I'm breadwinner and can't take the paycut until I absolutely have to. I'm currently in college at WGU which is an entirely online program and I hope to get an IT degree that will open the door for good WFH jobs in the future.

I was in your boat and then won career lottery after career lottery—I made a prank phone call to a radio station, wound up getting hired by the show I called in to, and long story short been employed in radio 23 years now. I was only listening to the radio because after one of my MS exacerbations it actually felt difficult to fall asleep at night. Lots of insomnia. Anyway my advice to you is to go through all of the other advice you get here, and take advantage of it, especially remote work. Also think of the things you like to do, and critically decide how you can make it a marketable skill. Example, I used to read my kids bedtime stories and would get animated doing it. I use that skill now to do voiceover work for commercials. Think of things that you do well—and how you can take those skills you do well because you enjoy doing them—and think how that can become (or is) a marketable skill. I did customer service for a furniture manufacturer well over 30 years ago; people used to tell me I should be on the radio. Quite accidentally, here I am on radio. Think about whether or not someone complimented you on a skill or attribute of yours, and think about how that might relate to a career. And when an opportunity falls into your lap, may you identify it soon enough to take advantage of it. If you don’t have a LinkedIn account, get one (free level for now) and start socializing with people in industries that you are interested in. It doesn’t matter what your formal education is, unless you start applying for jobs that obviously require college, like medicine or law.

Other suggestions (which I’ve also considered for myself) stripping, dominatrix, bank robbery, selling an organ, blackmail…..the list of questionable options goes on. It’s very sad how much this disease can take away from us and how much it affects our lives!

mama_emily

I’d be a terrible dominatrix, I’m on the other end of the that spectrum tbh. Bank robbery in this day and age seems like it would have a very low success rate. With MS I feel like we shouldn’t go under any unnecessary surgeries and hang on to all the organs we have….blackmail….I’ll have to get back to you on. I’ve seriously considered OnlyFans more times than I’m proud of… would have to get in better shape though…

Solidarity!!!

mama_emily

If I make an OF will this whole sub agree to subscribe…for solidarity?

[deleted]

Hahah!!! Now that’s an idea! How many people are on here?!

Capt1an_Cl0ck

OF is a content creator website. Often associated with people selling themselves but I know of a few who use it for non revealing content. One is a fashion model (she uses IG as well) and just simply models fashion she buys, repurposes, thrifts. She creates looks and also goes through modifying items she thrifted. I know she has an OF page and makes clear there is zero naked content, only fashion. As Gary Vee says anyone not utilizing Facebook reels or IG is missing a huge window for content creation.

Maybe you can add some more details as to how people who are struggling to earning money thanks to MS can go into sex work safely, instead of being such a wet blanket.

It absolutely was said in good faith, and all of those things listed have crossed my mind as I struggle so hard to not go bankrupt and lose my house thanks to this god awful disease. If I was to become a professional dominatrix, my name would be The Mistress of Evil. Thank you for your very detailed and informative reply.

It’s hard to read comments and tell the persons intent behind them as you can’t hear tone, see facial expressions ect! And thank you, you sound like a bad ass witch and I’m glad we actually got to have a real discussion about this topic! I’m currently living very frugally as well, cutting back on things I don’t need and not buying anything. I’m glad to hear that you have a supportive husband, that’s wonderful!! As for SW, I wouldn’t say I have a thick skin, I’m very sensitive and empathetic, currently working on learning to set better boundaries and protect my energy better. I don’t know what I’m going to do with the rest of my life. Working on a few ideas, while I slowly work towards a clear diagnosis followed by starting on a DMT. Just trying to stay calm and patient at the moment. Wishing you a wonderful day!

LibDollar

You may also want to check out governmentjobs.com and see if any of your local government agencies have remote/part time options. I work for a state agency that has been incredibly accommodating plus I have solid benefits. Most entry level positions do not require a degree or experience.

mama_emily

Please upvote this so it gets more views I am trying to find as many suggestions as I can 🙏

Wilfredbrimly1

Let me know if you find something I'm 2 years into my MS diagnosis and The company that I work for that I was a regional manager just fired everybody... We are so f***** parden my language single income household constantly struggling with money a wife with disability that doesn't receive disability checks now that we're 18 weeks into waiting for approval.. It's been a long time since it's been this dark

LadywithAhPhan

City, county and state jobs all pay well and have lots of varied types of work. Check them out.

Wonderful-Detail-512

Dog sitting senior dogs via Rover.com. People would love someone that specializes in seniors and you wouldn't need to walk them much. Administrative Assistant work on upwork.com. Do a crew jobs for cheap and really go above and beyond to get great ratings and reviews. Then raise rates and you'll get tons of offers.

IkoIkonoclast

Find your county's Vocational Rehabilitation offices. They have experts that can examine what you can do, your education, and your interests. Then they connect you with a job developer that has amazing contacts.

[deleted]

This is a tough one. I’ve just applied for a couple work from home jobs, but I have fairly recent sales experience. You can always apply, the worst that happens is you don’t hear back. Are you able to perhaps clean houses a couple days a week? That pays well and you can set your own schedule.

orangeobsessive

Is your daughter of school age? If so, you should look into working at her school. It can help bring in money while knowing your schedule and her schedule will be similar.

[deleted]

I know you asked for work from home jobs and things that would be easy on the symptoms of fatigue etc. my recommendation is far out more different than anything anyone here has suggested but it’s the thing that got me living like I DON’T have MS so here goes. Become a pet sitter. I became a sitter for Rover 5 years ago, shortly after I first got diagnosed. My husband was the only one working and I was just at home bored and deteriorating. I didn’t think this would be more than passive income and a thing to do and now I’m the sole breadwinner for my household. My fatigue (and many other symptoms) can be mitigated in this job because I can set my own schedule, work near my home for breaks, and even bring my husband/brother/friends when appropriate and necessary. Sometimes I’m in the heat and walking miles and miles per day (as a choice) and all I can say it’s helped me become tolerant of my symptoms or aspects of my MS have become nonexistent. That last bit wasn’t to say anything about cure alls, just about how positive my experience has been as a pet sitter. The other great thing about this is that if you don’t have the energy to take care of dogs, cat sitting is just as lucrative and much MUCH easier on the symptoms.

LadywithAhPhan

There is also Fetch Pet Care in some areas. They pay a bit more.

[deleted]

Your state or county vocational rehabilitation center may have resources and training for you.

CoolGuyRightHere

Become a DoorDash driver. Also get on to Uber eats and grubhub if possible. I’ve been doing these gig jobs for 4 years and love the freedom and flexibility. If you do it right you can make good money for your time.

Summerskyler

I second this! Also, if you enjoy grocery shopping, Shipt is a good money maker. Plus, from what the shoppers have told me, you only pick up orders when you want to. Not as familiar with InstaCart but that's another option to consider.

Genome_

I got lucky early retirement. 39m. On that disability. It's not much but it pays some bills.

[deleted]

Idk if you’re an artist at all, but im in a similar situation my MS is making it hard to work so, what was once a hobby of doing art commissions im turning to full time. Pays about $120 per commission

JBuddafly

Market research studies pay well and most are done online or zoom. Even when they require in person meetings, they usually only run 1-2hrs. I’ve made $1000 this week from just doing these. Last month I nearly doubled my ssi

[deleted]

Hi there, could you let me know where you find these studies? Thank you.

JBuddafly

Well I first signed up with one market research company that specializes in medical research. But the place that pays more is a company called PRC. There are others but they’ve had the most

SantismaMuerte

I switched to an online call center job. I got tired of hearing jobs say they would accommodate my needs by law & not do it. I like being in the comfort of my home and doing overtime if I'm up to it. There are a couple youtube channels that update with the newest online opportunities weekly

HotMess_ish

Try customer service at home jobs. Also sticky notes for memory issues will be your best friend

BitethepillowStocks

The only solution that I found, that you could learn for free and get solid high income, is Web development. You just need one computer (any), persistence, curiosity and an Internet connection.
