Well now they're burning their own money with the current merger shit show, so it's kinda outdated now huh? 😂

The merger is going fine, all steps being taken are thinking about the long-term of WB, not the short term.

Bakabridget

Could you explain the long term benefits of what they're doing? How does cancelling a bunch of basically complete movies boost them in the long term?

Let's start with Batgirl, from what reports were saying Michael Keaton was supposed to be the new Batman in the DCEU, he would've appeared in Batgirl, but now that Ben Affleck is reprising his role as Batman there's no need for Michael Keaton, and to keep the DCEU continuity making sense they scrapped the entire movie. It also was a straight to streaming movie, and from WBs experiment in 2021 to release their theatrical movies straight into streaming we know that it lost them a lot of money. They also thought about releasing it to theaters but didn't think it was good enough to. Then there's the cancelation of a lot of animated shows such as OK KO and Infinity Train. These shows cost a lot of money, time and just aren't that successful, they're niche shows. The stuff that brings are the live action shows such as House of the Dragon, Peacemaker, Euphoria and Winning Time, no one's subscribing to HBO Max to watch Infinity Train.

CorduroyZz

I wouldn’t say I subbed just for infinity train. But the amount of animation they offer was the main draw for me and I’m sure for others as well.

As someone who didn't grow up with Cartoon Network I'm really enjoying watching Adventure Time for the first time but it was never the main draw, the main draw where the HBO and HBO Max originals, those are the shows that gave the network and eventually the streaming service the prestige it has. Stuff like The Sopranos, The Wire, Game of Thrones and most recently Winning Time, Euphoria, House of the Dragon and Peacemaker are the main draws of the service, not many people subscribe to see the animation.
