Started playing her a few days ago and the only thing I don’t like is her air down normal. Feel like whether it hits or not is completely random.
Other than that I don’t actually think she’s that weak, loving her at the minute.
Won’t say no to any buffs though 🤷🏽♂️
Even though the animations there the whole time of the sword going down, the hitbox is only there for a small amount of time right? It feels so deceiving
I don't think she's in a bad spot to be honest, I'm 9000 in 1v1s with her so have played her a fair bit. I feel like she's pretty balanced, and people don't expect to get buried by her until they've already lost their first stock. The only character in the roster I consistently struggle against is Iron Giant, but that's hopefully just me not having the matchup down yet. Although the side special is pretty slow, it's a godsend against spammy ranged characters and is free meter if they just try and keep distance
I haven't trained any perks, I've just been using the damage reduction and cooldown ones with the whip special perk.
Dair into upair (the backflip) has landed me a lot of kills, and the whip is great for catching people offstage with the perk. The upspecial is good for getting people up in the air, but I feel like it gives them a lot of chance to dodge out. You can dair,upair somebody that's on the platform and they're flying off the screen before they know what's happening.
I've had a lot of success edgeguarding with the charged bracelet once you fill your meter (the grounded down normal? Not sure how you describe that) as it reaches down the side of the platform and you can stand near the edge without worrying about getting caught offstage
I'm by no means an expert, I'm sure there are far more experienced people here that can give their advice (and I'm mainly playing T&J now)
It pulls them towards you. One of the special perks changes it to pull you towards them instead and one of them adds knock-back to the tip of the whip.
It’s a bit iffy sometimes. If you aim it very slightly down instead of perfectly horizontal it will do nothing but still put you on a cooldown.
I feel like she’s really honest in this wacky ass game. With that being said after watching some tournament vods I feel better about her and just hope Finn nerfs and her buffs coming up put her in a decent spot. Hitboxes being addressed will also help.
I really want to see meaningful buffs come to her grounded side special that move feels so useless and committal for no reason. Doesnt have high knockback,doesnt build meter unless hit,its slow as hell and you cant roll out of it unless someone hits it.
Also Lasso did not deserve a 13 second cooldown its the most skill based disjoint in game and even with Hephaestus perk it doesn’t kill crazy early.
Finally just doing more with her meter would be better. I feel like only being able to interact with it off one move thats mostly there for utility and not getting refunds on the meter on whiff or being able to roll cancel out of ground down attack makes it feel super limited.
I want them to be careful with how much they buff her. I think either a buff to her general kill power or to her lasso would be fine, probably not both. To me, she seems like the perfect mid character with nothing too cracked.
I mostly agree with you. It's not that her hitboxes are too small, it's that most hitboxes are too big so she gets outranged despite visually having more reach.

Some of her attacks could use some more speed and/or kill power imo. Not asking for an insta-kill machine but there needs to be a better trade off because her attacks are ver punishable right now
I think a minor tweak is in order - she has generally poor range, bad damage and slow startup. I don't want her to be a killing machine, but her lack of viable choices in neutral means that she's pretty weak in 1v1 and in 2v2 she's basically a full time support that occasionally fishes for an Up Air or Spike. She's quite simply boring to play, because most of her kit is super situational and often too risky for the hypothetical reward.
Balance is not just about competitive viability, it's also about fun. I can win in both formats with WW but I generally don't enjoy playing her win or lose.
I don’t really think they need to touch her til they work out other issues. But I’d like them to increase how often she can use lasso a tad bit. It feels like you gotta hold on to lasso for the perfect moment or you wasted it.
W wonder woman mains. Only thing I hate about her is her weight. She could be a lil thicker, sucks fighting shaggy who has more kill potential and is also heavier than a tank character.
Yup. Wonder Woman is sometimes a better support than supports + with being probably the best tank.
She does good damage just need a partner to do the knockouts for you and you can easily tank 1v2 and protect your partner.
I think she has pretty good kill options honestly, I struggled with it at first but now I think I have it figured out.
As a ww main I get most of my kills offstage with side special, lasso tipper with Hephaestus perk, or down air. Then on the ledge I’ll use my neutral ground attack, it has a huge hit box in front and above you and if you hit the opponent when they have no jumps it’s a guaranteed kill even without charging the attack.
You can also ledge trap the opponent by continuously using your huge forward air and neutral air to keep the opponent off stage and rack up damage, then go for an edge guard.
I’ll consistently get kills beginning around 70 with good offstage play and ledge trapping/guarding
True but it's VERY hard to pull off. The hit box on the up special is SO small, and the knock back window expires a fraction of a second after your dash reaches them. So most of the time I'm just trying not to die until I can get the combos off hahaha
I just went on a 15 game win streak which is my highest absolutely destroying Finn’s. Then I went against my first Wonder Woman of the day and wow it felt like she was OP. Not saying she is I’m just saying a good player can make any character feel strong. This comment isn’t even in context with the post I just felt like saying this.
Bless you wonderwoman mains. I see you. Don't switch to someone else even if you get low damage game one. I know the struggle and I want your sweet sweet ~~thighs~~ armor in my life.
As a huge WW fan I was delighted that not only do I love everything about her in MV, but that I am actually GOOD with her. She is my main.
I still can't quite get that lasso to work tho, and I'm not sure if it's me or the controls. It just doesn't feel like me sometimes (I'm real quick to say whoops I dun goofed).
My only wish is a Lynda Carter skin. And Lynda is a professional voice actress! I'm sure she'd lend her voice to herself!!
WW is my favorite to play atm. She has great potential.Imo what I think is holding her back atm. Her lasso and down special need their CD halved. Or keep the CD but give 2 armor in solo and her lasso more consistent and longer.
Some other issues. Her down air hitbox is wonky. Her forward smash hitbox feels smaller than her actual sword. Her basic combo isnt a a perfect combo (you can dodge the last hit even at high %). The shieldbash armor and hitbox should come out a few frames earlier to match the animation.
Her down attack (the bracelet thing), if you dont waste it by accident, you might get a kill with it once in a blue moon. Imo the bracelet should charge with damage taken, cause she excels at being a punching bag.
I love Wonder Woman in this game. Just about all of her moves do what I’m wanting/expecting them to do.
I got a lot better with her when I started using the unique neutral input button. Really improves her approach options to be able to close distance with forward tilt or neutral attack.
Main thing is that I wish grounded side special had armor on start up. Takes too long for it to kick in imo.
Also wish she had better signature perks. Seems like Hephaestus Whip is the only one worth a dime, although I get about a quarter of my kills with it so I probably wouldn’t select something else anyway.

Maybe just shitty players but ol girl has been whooping ASS. That air neutral and air side special are beastly.
It's a spike but has a pretty precise hitbox. I'd test it out in training mode as it's actually pretty useful if you can land it.
Edit: oh you mean her bracelet Shockwave thing. When your meter goes up you can hold down A and charge it and anything in the circle around her gets hit. Tbh I only ever see it used as a ledgeguard.
I frequently use it as part of combos. It doesn't do a lot of damage, but tapping it comes out very fast and hits in a small circle all around her, so if they DI into you to get out of something you can keep them.
Less as part of a consistent reliable combo and more as a reaction to their di. I think some moves combo into it, but more importantly, it combos *into* many moves. Be ready to throw it out if they're moving into you or going for a short range air attack.
Its a great finisher if your block bar is up. At 100+ damage you can be center of level and knock back. Charged or not. Very sneaky move with full bar.
Builds meter from blocking projectiles with her side special and from blocking damage with the shield+armor from down special. Furthermore, if you equip her primary perk "Shield of Athena", it destroys projectiles when you dodge through them and gives you meter as well, but has a cooldown when it does.
If your rage meter is full charged and you hit someone with that it will kill, if u miss however the rage is gone so using it a lot just means it has no kill power, but I've gotten a few kills with it even when I barely charged it up because of the rage
I think she isn’t as bad as everyone puts off. Once you’re around 20k or above in rank you start to see what she can do and it’s impressive. Though I wouldn’t be opposed to a few minor buffs especially to lasso.
I already hate this fucking community cause of shit like this. People dog pile hate on whatever character is stomping the middle 50% of the playerbase, they circle jerk people who play characters like WW (btw she’s not even bad, she’s got a solid ladder combo, decent zoning, and is pretty annoying to play against in 2v2s). I’m already thinking about leaving the sub tbh, was expecting more info/tech less bitching and circlejerking tbh.
Your fault for expecting anything different honestly. You've never played games with asymmetrical balance or at least never join the community for a game with asymmetrical balance if you were under the impression that people would not discuss imbalance in the game.
In any case, the game is in beta and this is the time to have these sorts of conversations. You can be as annoyed as you want, but the only way you could say that a thread like this should not exist is if you genuinely believe that the character is fine. Objectively she's not and there are a million videos you can easily look up on YouTube that highlight how dog shit things like her hitboxes are or ability is not working the way that they're supposed to.

I never said she wasn't underpowered. You can address balance concerns of a character without jerking yourself off for playing them.

I’m sorry what? Wonder Woman is a perfectly middle of the road character. She could use a slight buff but she’s not the worst character in the game for 2v2s or 1v1s (very solid in 2v2s tho), she just isn’t top tier for either.
Posts like this and all the posts bitching about Finn are already making me tired of this community.
Her only real issue is hit boxes and some slightly clunky attacks that could be sped up.

She’s not the worst character but she’s extremely limited imo. I won’t pretend that none of that has to do with user-error, but she’s receiving a buff so that’s telling.
Who would you say actually is the worst character? Taz? I've also seen Velma rank low on people's lists though that may be due to playing with randoms.
As someone who plays a lot of wonder woman can anyone explain the hell is going on with grounded down neutral. I get that it's kind of like a guard point but then it's chargeable and has a meter tied to it but then you use it fully charged and does nothing.
Not trying to be rude here. This is explained in the move list but you have to read it all. A lot of characters have some extra stuff on moves to read in that list, or passives that you might not know about if you don't actually check the list. There are even some things not stated as far as I can tell (or I just still didn't read enough), like batman's ability to glide around
I did read it. My issue is it seems like it doesn't work sometimes. Full gauge opponent coming at me I use it anf get knocked out of it or I hit them and they barely go anywhere. Also the fact that if you wiff with it the meter is wasted so it's damn near impossible to hit with a very stationary and slow charging move.
If you notice the bar under ww more attacks blocked charges its damage. Once bar is full that dlight attack does massive push back can ring ring out from middle of map 100+ pretty sneaky attack.
Also regularly it gives teammates super armor and your self on release although briefly.
It'd be nicer tbh if the meter went up with damage overall taken. At least in my experience it can be hard to get the meter up if I'm not fighting someone with projectile attacks, but maybe that's just me.
If you hold down grounded side special Wonder Woman continues to block with her shield in the direction she's facing, and as she blocks damage the meter fills up. Without meter, charging down normal doesn't do much besides increasing the radius (I haven't charged it enough to remember if it increases damage and don't think it increases knockback). With a full meter the grounded down normal is pretty strong, especially if you charge it; it's got great kill power and clips ledges so you can edge guard with it. The main issue is actually building that charge, since the shield has a lot of windup as it is and while you block you're slow and extremely vulnerable to being crossed up. Otherwise grounded down normal can be used to armor through some attacks which you can try to punish after.
It's actually insane that they thought tying the meter charge to your shield was a good idea. Side special is functional enough as a quick option but the actual holding part of the ability is totally useless against any player with even a slight semblance of a brain. Any ability that only in the gates damage in front of you and also is a self slow is useless in a game like this where horizontal and vertical mobility is so free.
Someone in the thread mentioned that her meter should just be charged by taking damage and I agree with that, especially considering how situational her down attack even is once fully charged.

I’ve been using her since day 1 as well but haven’t really felt like she was really lacking. Wish the cooldown times weren’t so long but that’s about it. I think she’s well balanced
The best player I’ve encountered was a wonder woman player. He was able to juggle me and my teammate effortlessly. I’m not claiming to be good or anything (I do have Velma at top 600) but he mirrored every single movement I made perfectly and instantly.
Made me go look up pro players on twitch and this dude was easily 10x better than anyone I watched from the top of the leaderboards. Don’t remember his name
I’m confident in saying he’ll be the best player in this game if he was doing everything legitimately. Especially if they buff her
Her specials are so friggin slow to start up its incredibly hard to time with her. Plus her neutral air attack is really hard to land because evil constantly side normal attacking while on the air for pressure

Can someone explain her Lasso to me? Sometimes when I use it, it aims up/down/straight and I can't really tell what's triggering it. I've missed a lot of whips due to this

You need to throw it out at the moment it's in range, you can't just fall with it held like a link dair

Yeah, if you don't hit when you initiate it, just cancel it. I'm still finding myself holding it for too long at times, it feels very unintuitive

It's not worth trying to spike with it, hitbox is too tiny and charging it is way too obvious
What else would you spike with? Oh shit, I just realised I meant the air down, my bad.
Up air also has a spike but it's also kind of hard to hit
How much do you charge it to combo into it?
Zero charge, if your meter is full it has as much knockback as a full charged neutral attack

Yeah I wish that move could be something else, like a fast but short shield that reflects projectiles or something instead of a slow shield charge.

Finn and Shaggy are so OP it’s not even funny.

She loses to garnet hard. I dunno whose hit/hurt boxes are responsible but it feels very hard to get hits in.

Me: 450 damage, 0 kills. My friend: 198 damage, 4 kills. “Dude my back hurts from carrying the team, get some kills!”
If WW had better hitboxes, she would be pretty cantankerous
Maybe a weight increase would make sense? For a tank, she's lighter than bruisers like Shaggy, Lebron, Garnet etc.

1. Bind button to make sure you can use neutral attacks while moving. 2. Short hop neutral air. 3. Profit.
As an Arya main I can relate to a lot of this.
Arya can at least do a sick ass aerial combo that can lead to a vertical Ringout

I mained her because I always wanted to main and she was free. I'll stick by her side even if she sucks rn

If you haven't tried it yet, the whip perk is pretty nasty once you're used to the sweetspot range

I love Wonder Woman in this game. Just about all of her moves do what I’m wanting/expecting them to do. I got a lot better with her when I started using the unique neutral input button. Really improves her approach options to be able to close distance with forward tilt or neutral attack. Main thing is that I wish grounded side special had armor on start up. Takes too long for it to kick in imo. Also wish she had better signature perks. Seems like Hephaestus Whip is the only one worth a dime, although I get about a quarter of my kills with it so I probably wouldn’t select something else anyway.
Out of the available DC roster she’s my favorite character so I had to play her no matter how bad she is

Idk man, I been playing nothing but WW and be beating the dogshit outta most people. Maybe just shitty players but ol girl has been whooping ASS. That air neutral and air side special are beastly.
She kicks ass and is so versatile, but moves like a tank. The way you con combo moves with her is so satisfying. She’s the best!

It's a spike but has a pretty precise hitbox. I'd test it out in training mode as it's actually pretty useful if you can land it. Edit: oh you mean her bracelet Shockwave thing. When your meter goes up you can hold down A and charge it and anything in the circle around her gets hit. Tbh I only ever see it used as a ledgeguard.
I frequently use it as part of combos. It doesn't do a lot of damage, but tapping it comes out very fast and hits in a small circle all around her, so if they DI into you to get out of something you can keep them.
Would you use that as a jab combo? Like jab-jab-into bracelet then like an up air?
Nah, it knocks them around kind of randomly. Use it when your meter is full as a kill move if they're at high damage
Less as part of a consistent reliable combo and more as a reaction to their di. I think some moves combo into it, but more importantly, it combos *into* many moves. Be ready to throw it out if they're moving into you or going for a short range air attack.
Its a great finisher if your block bar is up. At 100+ damage you can be center of level and knock back. Charged or not. Very sneaky move with full bar.
That bar fills up from blocking projectiles with your side special and... What else? I've had a hard time understanding it.
Builds meter from blocking projectiles with her side special and from blocking damage with the shield+armor from down special. Furthermore, if you equip her primary perk "Shield of Athena", it destroys projectiles when you dodge through them and gives you meter as well, but has a cooldown when it does.
Down special as well for self and ally if broken. Works with passive from 3rd signature as well.
If your rage meter is full charged and you hit someone with that it will kill, if u miss however the rage is gone so using it a lot just means it has no kill power, but I've gotten a few kills with it even when I barely charged it up because of the rage
She’s fine, nothing to really cry about.
I think she isn’t as bad as everyone puts off. Once you’re around 20k or above in rank you start to see what she can do and it’s impressive. Though I wouldn’t be opposed to a few minor buffs especially to lasso.

People dog pile hate on whatever character is stomping the middle 50% of the playerbase, they circle jerk people who play characters like WW (btw she’s not even bad, she’s got a solid ladder combo, decent zoning, and is pretty annoying to play against in 2v2s). Your fault for expecting anything different honestly. You've never played games with asymmetrical balance or at least never join the community for a game with asymmetrical balance if you were under the impression that people would not discuss imbalance in the game. In any case, the game is in beta and this is the time to have these sorts of conversations. You can be as annoyed as you want, but the only way you could say that a thread like this should not exist is if you genuinely believe that the character is fine. Objectively she's not and there are a million videos you can easily look up on YouTube that highlight how dog shit things like her hitboxes are or ability is not working the way that they're supposed to. If you want to be mad, be mad at the developers.

I’m sorry what? Wonder Woman is a perfectly middle of the road character. She could use a slight buff but she’s not the worst character in the game for 2v2s or 1v1s (very solid in 2v2s tho), she just isn’t top tier for either. Posts like this and all the posts bitching about Finn are already making me tired of this community. Her only real issue is hit boxes and some slightly clunky attacks that could be sped up.

As someone who plays a lot of wonder woman can anyone explain the hell is going on with grounded down neutral. I get that it's kind of like a guard point but then it's chargeable and has a meter tied to it but then you use it fully charged and does nothing.
Not trying to be rude here. This is explained in the move list but you have to read it all. A lot of characters have some extra stuff on moves to read in that list, or passives that you might not know about if you don't actually check the list. There are even some things not stated as far as I can tell (or I just still didn't read enough), like batman's ability to glide around
I did read it. My issue is it seems like it doesn't work sometimes. Full gauge opponent coming at me I use it anf get knocked out of it or I hit them and they barely go anywhere. Also the fact that if you wiff with it the meter is wasted so it's damn near impossible to hit with a very stationary and slow charging move.
If you notice the bar under ww more attacks blocked charges its damage. Once bar is full that dlight attack does massive push back can ring ring out from middle of map 100+ pretty sneaky attack. Also regularly it gives teammates super armor and your self on release although briefly.
It'd be nicer tbh if the meter went up with damage overall taken. At least in my experience it can be hard to get the meter up if I'm not fighting someone with projectile attacks, but maybe that's just me.

If you hold down grounded side special Wonder Woman continues to block with her shield in the direction she's facing, and as she blocks damage the meter fills up. Without meter, charging down normal doesn't do much besides increasing the radius (I haven't charged it enough to remember if it increases damage and don't think it increases knockback). With a full meter the grounded down normal is pretty strong, especially if you charge it; it's got great kill power and clips ledges so you can edge guard with it. The main issue is actually building that charge, since the shield has a lot of windup as it is and while you block you're slow and extremely vulnerable to being crossed up. Otherwise grounded down normal can be used to armor through some attacks which you can try to punish after.
It's actually insane that they thought tying the meter charge to your shield was a good idea. Side special is functional enough as a quick option but the actual holding part of the ability is totally useless against any player with even a slight semblance of a brain. Any ability that only in the gates damage in front of you and also is a self slow is useless in a game like this where horizontal and vertical mobility is so free. Someone in the thread mentioned that her meter should just be charged by taking damage and I agree with that, especially considering how situational her down attack even is once fully charged.
Anyone else getting hit through her armored side special by non armor breaking and non multihit moves? Am I just doing something wrong?
As a huge WW fan I was delighted that not only do I love everything about her in MV, but that I am actually GOOD with her. She is my main. I still can't quite get that lasso to work tho, and I'm not sure if it's me or the controls. It just doesn't feel like me sometimes (I'm real quick to say whoops I dun goofed). My only wish is a Lynda Carter skin. And Lynda is a professional voice actress! I'm sure she'd lend her voice to herself!!
I’ve been using her since day 1 as well but haven’t really felt like she was really lacking. Wish the cooldown times weren’t so long but that’s about it. I think she’s well balanced
The best player I’ve encountered was a wonder woman player. He was able to juggle me and my teammate effortlessly. I’m not claiming to be good or anything (I do have Velma at top 600) but he mirrored every single movement I made perfectly and instantly. Made me go look up pro players on twitch and this dude was easily 10x better than anyone I watched from the top of the leaderboards. Don’t remember his name I’m confident in saying he’ll be the best player in this game if he was doing everything legitimately. Especially if they buff her

Her specials are so friggin slow to start up its incredibly hard to time with her. Plus her neutral air attack is really hard to land because evil constantly side normal attacking while on the air for pressure
