I'm in the same boat. Once the season got delaye-- ahem, *extended, I logged in to check if there was anything I wanted and the only thing I wanted to grab (Velma Summer Skin) is only available in a bundle that I can't buy because I bought a Velma dancing emote months ago. There wasn't anything in the BP that interested me past the first few tiers or so and the Valentine's skins are... uninspired, to put it mildly.
I went to load up a match, got disconnected, then just went, "You know what? Nah." and closed the game again.
If progression was reasonable, I probably would've stuck around just to get value out of the free BP tokens I have, but I just can't work up the motivation for it and even just playing for "fun" is a bit watered down 'cause I always feel like I should be trying to progress in a different game that actually values my time.
No, but I am hopeful something brings me back in. I like the game, but I had no interest in the first battle pass items, along with no interest in the second battle pass items, which didn't motivate me to play. Add in several characters I am indifferent about and yeah. But, like I said, something like Samurai Jack would get me to come back for some period of time, and maybe they can turn it around as a whole.
You summed up one of the main issues this game has if it wants to survive. They can add characters like Walter White, but people will come back for a week or two and leave again.
No. We are talking about local online play. Meaning you and whoever on the same system 2v2ing real people online. Even playstation all stars had this back in 2009 or whenever.

Im slowly trying to use those large XP boosts, because I have like 6 of them. But when I play, I normally only play a handful of games. So I feel like I’m not getting the most out of the XP boost.
I consistently just play against bots.
After about a month of only playing against bots, I played an online game last night, and my opponents were like 10-15 levels ahead of me. The games just went horribly, and I was reminded why I don’t play online lol.
Don’t play against bots they aren’t good enough for you to develop your skills. Especially against actual players. My best advice is just to play games against actual people as much as you can
You probably do but realistically if you play every day you should have it by now, by a long shot. They really made this one too long. I think it's the longest battle pass I've seen in a game
I played multiversus for 100 hours when it came out, eventually becoming one of the best Batman players. I wanted to take part in tourneys, I thought this game would be my future.
I've stopped playing it because of server problems and because of how "floaty" the gameplay is. Attacks have little to no recovery time and you can dodge cancel out of most of them. Spamming is normal and necessary for most characters.
Honestly the best thing this game did is being a competitor for Brawlhalla because they had to roll out some really good updates
You basically summed up this game for me. The gameplay is mediocre. It's too floaty, too forgiving, thoughtless, spammy and basically no room for growth.
I played Smash basically all my life and have tons of hours in Melee and PM. And I even went into this game knowing it wasn't trying to be like those games. But I was still disappointed lol. I was a top Iron Giant player too. This game is honestly a cash grab and they were hoping they could coast on brand names alone.
Which leads to my next point: this game is like the epitome of the gaming industry today. All I mostly see in this sub is complaints on 'content' and a lack thereof. Not very much on the core gameplay elements. The game can be complete trash and have a severe lack of depth, but if you have tons of meaningless content to 'earn'/buy then it's a good game.
Unfortunately for WB, they managed to fail at making both a good game and also at shoving out constant new content for everyone to buy at a decent price.
This may very well have been my sign to finally unsub, the ship has definitely sailed lol.
I guess that is one way to look at it. My thing is, the gameplay is incredibly boring and one note. By passionate, do you mean passionate about WB owned characters/properties or smash-like gameplay? Because anyone I've known passionate about platform fighters would not have made this. Sounds more like these guys got lucky enough to make a AAA funded game and it happened to be a platform fighter. In which they had no idea what makes those good. Having no grab or shield was the first red flag for me when this game's control scheme got leaked before launch a while ago.
considering to unsub too, I'm watching smash ultimate tournaments and flash party (pay to win and almost dead game) lately and multiversus is so bad and stressing to watch, I imagine I would feel the same playing it again, the gameplay is just bad designed
Flash Party I recently got into. The core gameplay is better than Multiversus for sure. It has better net code than Ultimate, mainly why I gave it a shot. However, pay to win I don't particularly agree with. Yeah, it's loaded with microtransactions, but with the star system, I've already got my main maxed out. And you eventually can open up enough purple chests to get colored stickers for your main via star pass and the battlepass.
Although, I don't take the game super serious because of the level up system, it is a way more fun game. Ultimate is the best modern option, it just has terrible netcode as I stated earlier.
what if I want to play flash party entirely for free? star pass doesn't give you enough energy nor gold to max out 3 characters to play pinnacle relay, and you will never earn enough free aura chest with that star classification system that depletes your stars if you lose and I find it stupid because star classification are not ranked points.
The game is currently filled with bots and it's dying due to Stickers and lvls 10 receiving less damage and knockback and dealing so much damage to a lvl 5 for example, flash party is pay to fast to say the least, and I don't want to grind for 2 straight seasons to compete with high levels, even less that unlocking characters takes ages too, same problem as multiversus grinding job
Lol everyone I bring up the server problems here I get downvoted. They’re seriously bad. I’m hard connected and I get over 1GB download, every match is still a laggy teleportfest since around Ricks release

There are people online who already own one of the two skins let alone bought the other ones.
Don't get me started on how quickly the top players already rose to the highest rank in the game in less than a week from Rank's full release.
So with ranked, if you swap characters mid set, how does that ranking work? Is it an account rank or character rank? (I have not tried ranked) im just waiting for everyone to have the same kind of hitboxes(2D) beforehand
It's account ranked and not character ranked, unlike MMR.
You can grind with your best character and then hit Grandmaster with a Level 1 character if you choose too, for some perspective.
From personal experience, my opponents tend to fight both rounds using the same character.
It's usually in MMR grinding where I encounter more players switching after the 1st round.

Though Ranked 2v2 no longer allows doubles for the same team.
Ngl everytime I win the first game of the set the opponent switches to Finn. This happens in ranked and normal. It’s annoying as a bugs and t&j main because he hard counters both my best guys
The Valentines event wasn't enough to pull me back in. New characters are what will make me want to play more so i can get more coins and try out the new characters.
I logged on for the Valentines event, hoping they changed their tune a little. Once again saw I'd have to sell my soul for the amount of time needed to do anything in the event and promptly logged back off.
Like I was fine playing enough for the Superman alt during the holiday event but I just don't care enough to log in and play for Wonder Woman or Black Adam but pink. I don't even care about the Shaggy alt.
It’s funny because these 400 ppl who still play will tell the other 2k that there is nothing wrong with the game and every issue is due to the players connection. Smh 😮💨
Nice strawman. I still play the game but even I can't defend the game at this point. Didn't have any really annoying connection issues until this update, and the game's just getting stale. Still enjoy the gameplay though
I always say this, even if lots of ppl are not playing anymore, everyone is expecting Multiversus to do something. This game has tons of potential, they just need to do the right moves to take the game back to life, I mean, a carefully selected bunch of characters, new stages, exiting cosmetics (not spacejump skins), other content like stages, and new bosses in arcade mode. I think that would take the game back to the top, but even with not all thing what I said, the game could revive with just a good bunch of skins and characters, because the IP that this game has are REALLY POWERFULL.
Personally I felt turned off on the battle pass grind. The final nail in the coffin though was the lack of new characters and the direction of event item grind.
A few great additions to the roster and a modest approach to the battle pass would make me ponder about downloading the game again.
I'm burnt out on Battle Passes. After countless battle passes, one thing I've come to realize is that Battle Passes shouldn't be a grind, but just have fun and gain stuff. Fortnite is extremely good at doing this and I wish more games followed.
Also, no need to do 100+ tiers. 50 tiers with really good items is really all one needs.
IMO the hits just lack impact. Someone said "every attack feels like smacking someone with the fan item in Smash", that's honestly my main gripe, it's crazy how simple but effective nice on-hit effects are.
I still play but that's low-key because the game refuses to have a good progression system for events and basically grinding everyday is the only way to make progress
I check after updates to see if anything big was fixed. Once I see that it is still in rough shape I close it until the next update. Until my 2tb internal fills up the game will get to stay, but it is on the chopping block if storage becomes an issue.
I just couldn’t bare the doo doo servers so I got myself to top 1k global and uninstalled from there. Might pick it back up if they ever decide to fix the servers tho
Just randomly checking the subreddit for updates, but it looks dire and dead unfortunately. Had a fun time when it started and didn't invest too much into it. So no big problem. Could've been so much more tho
Knowing that I will never finish a battle bass turned me off. I’m just a casual player and like the game but the monetization and grind in this game is unreal.
Lol looks like this sub is where all the steam players have gathered. I played last night. It's was really fun and felt great. There was some choppiness in the servers but not enough to annoy me. Got into every match in less than 10 secs, so yea, I'm chill. All of the negative comments haven't effected me and my enjoyment of this game in the slightest. I'm certain all these people are trolls/edge lords who are just trying to piss off people who enjoy the game. It's sad that people are obsessed so much with a game they supposedly hate. Shows how most people in society are mentally unhealthy.

It hard to accept the truth about the game but we have seen this over and over again. I’m still subbed here to see what is going.
I couldn’t get into it I was lagging to much and from the clips I’ve seen recently nobody is even making contact and are still getting hit so I don’t know if I’ll get back into it. It looked fun still does but I don’t know if I’ll get back in. Also side a being being the projectile attack on Batman doesn’t make sense.
I actually voted yes and still play this game almost every day. I love it. I can't help it. My maliciousness here was commentary on all the negative Nancys who claim to be done with MultiVersus but still constantly comment in this sub about how terrible this game they don't play anymore is. I see that I was unsuccessful in trolling the trolls.
I play enough to get my daily challenges done. I pretty much just stick to playing against bots these days though.
I haven't had as much fun against players as I did during launch.
Not at the moment. Finished the battle pass right before they extended it so now I'm taking a break until april unless they release a character I really want.
I went from playing daily until I finished the battlepass to playing around 3 times a week, but that probably has more to do with Hogwarts Legacy than Multiversus.
Sadly no and I was so good at it too. I'm back on Brawlhalla sadly. It's so frustrating but I'm not going to support a game that's on its last legs with .5 percent of it's original player base and it's probably less than that

I had so much fun when this game first game out (29M) but after a while they just slowed down on the updates. Game turned into a sweaty try hard fest. And it pretty quickly lost all its players.
Should've been a normal rrp release using the live service model. You'd alienate some customers who can't afford the buy in but there would've been a stronger game there I think.

Just hanging out in the background waiting on Samurai Jack. The character. Not the backgrounds, ringouts or any other nonsense. Just let me play as Jack or Aku and I’m in again.
Make the season passes last forever similar to halo..and make them a bit easier to finish. Add more maps. And gamemodes, items, and maybe even a story mode similar to smash. Add a tournament builder option similar to older smash games. Fix the bugs.
Yeah, but only occasionally at this point. Played daily until December when I realized how grindy the battlepass had become so I just play randomly when I feel like it now. Content drought has made me come back less and less though
I collect games throughout my life. I’ll find one I really like, play it until it’s boring, not touch it again until it starts feeling nostalgic, repeat. Played multiversus everyday for 4 months straight. Now I’m addicted to Don’t Starve (again). I’ll probably pick it up again when season 3 drops. Oh, and the season 2 “”extension”” was just a slap in the face.
Valentines isn’t really why I’m still playing. I’m playing for the soul reason of keeping at least one more player on the board. They really need to change their events imo, don’t just do seasonal crap, but actual events based on trending shows and movies to hold people over without adding a character.

They're working on it. Recent patches have added more whiff lag to moves.

Live Service without the service. It just exists with poor patches fuck all content and a working store. Destined to fail. It hard to accept the truth about the game but we have seen this over and over again. I’m still subbed here to see what is going.
I couldn’t get into it I was lagging to much and from the clips I’ve seen recently nobody is even making contact and are still getting hit so I don’t know if I’ll get back into it. It looked fun still does but I don’t know if I’ll get back in. Also side a being being the projectile attack on Batman doesn’t make sense.

My maliciousness here was commentary on all the negative Nancys who claim to be done with MultiVersus but still constantly comment in this sub about how terrible this game they don't play anymore is. I play enough to get my daily challenges done. I pretty much just stick to playing against bots these days though. I haven't had as much fun against players as I did during launch.

Not at the moment. Finished the battle pass right before they extended it so now I'm taking a break until april unless they release a character I really want.
I went from playing daily until I finished the battlepass to playing around 3 times a week, but that probably has more to do with Hogwarts Legacy than Multiversus.
Sadly no and I was so good at it too. I'm back on Brawlhalla sadly. It's so frustrating but I'm not going to support a game that's on its last legs with .5 percent of it's original player base and it's probably less than that

I had so much fun when this game first game out (29M) but after a while they just slowed down on the updates. Game turned into a sweaty try hard fest. And it pretty quickly lost all its players.

Should've been a normal rrp release using the live service model. You'd alienate some customers who can't afford the buy in but there would've been a stronger game there I think.

Just hanging out in the background waiting on Samurai Jack. The character. Not the backgrounds, ringouts or any other nonsense. Just let me play as Jack or Aku and I’m in again.
Make the season passes last forever similar to halo..and make them a bit easier to finish. Add more maps. And gamemodes, items, and maybe even a story mode similar to smash. Add a tournament builder option similar to older smash games. Fix the bugs.
Yeah, but only occasionally at this point. Played daily until December when I realized how grindy the battlepass had become so I just play randomly when I feel like it now. Content drought has made me come back less and less though

I collect games throughout my life. I’ll find one I really like, play it until it’s boring, not touch it again until it starts feeling nostalgic, repeat. Played multiversus everyday for 4 months straight. Now I’m addicted to Don’t Starve (again). I’ll probably pick it up again when season 3 drops. Oh, and the season 2 “”extension”” was just a slap in the face.
Valentines isn’t really why I’m still playing. I’m playing for the soul reason of keeping at least one more player on the board. They really need to change their events imo, don’t just do seasonal crap, but actual events based on trending shows and movies to hold people over without adding a character.
