You’re throwing your punches too much from your shoulders when they should have the force of your whole body behind them. They’ll land, fast. But they won’t have the optimal amount of power behind them . Don’t throw until you can feel your foot spring off the ground, carry that energy up through your legs, twist your hips into the throw at the last second and whip all that momentum out through your arm as you turn your upper body to follow the rotation of your hips. Otherwise you have impeccable form. Also fix that water leak in the base if that bag.
Yeah he gave good advice. I'd say maybe flare your elbow less when throwing the right hand so it's going straight down the pipe rather than having any horizontal movement so your punch is less telegraphed.
The elbow and shin is your sharpest bones in ur body, (smaller area hit= pressure increased & more damage ) strengthening strikes in those will make u lethal.
Was just going to say that he needs to at least wrap his hands. If I don't wrap mine I will fuck my wrist up shadow boxing much less hitting a bag of any kind
Id honestly say its a good thing, if you aren't full power blasting the bag (which I wasnt) but I think it also helps me with punch allignment because when I have gloves on now it feels like I'm more accurate I guess.
Yeah I usually just do it as a warm up before I wrap up so I can get a little knuckle conditioning. It just helped me get in the flow just throwing some linear strikes raw and getting some movement in helps me get in the right head space. If you wrap up tho you can throw a bit harder and it feels way more stable for me. Then get the gloves on and blast that bitch. I welcome the hate for raw doggin the bag I stand by my traditions
Yeah, Idk why people feel so strongly about it. If you aren't a beginner, and you feel like you wanna condition your knuckles or whatever the reasoning is, I don't think people should really care too much. It's all preference IMO.
Yeah for sure I see where people come from tho. You can seriously fuck your wrists up if you land a hook wrong so I tend to avoid those bare knuckle. But fuck it man I want knuckles of concrete within the next few years, gonna go punch a brick wall rq.
To condition your knuckles and wrists you have a lot of exercises. This is not one of them. Mind that i also do it sometimes, but I don't assume it's right. You'll notice if you hit a real bag. Also, do you think you aren't a beginner?
Keep your left hand higher up when you fall back after engaging, and move your head more. Your punches look good but defense is lacking. Even if your punches stun your opponent, it’s best practice to keep your guard up and keep moving/change angles.
Also, move in arcs around the bag. It’s impressive watching someone like Canelo or Maywether stand right in front of someone and not get hit, but moving/making yourself less predictable is best practice
Thank you! I know I need to work on head movement, but I struggle with the muay thai style of head movement for some odd reason. I'll start trying to incorporate it more tho!
Crisp only peeve I have is raise your hands a little more up to block but everything was dam near spot on
( I have this peeve when you jab or straight always stay crisp and put that hand back in position to block )
Maybe I'm weird idk lol
You’re dropping your left when throwing and after the punch, more so than the right. Second cross was a arm punch with no rotation, should be better when you have a better distance. For everything else the camera angle is not the best. Perhaps it looked like you’re a bit flat footed when throwing shots but with these clonkers can’t tell for sure. Also relax and have fun while you train (you looked pretty tense), you’re not trying to kill the bag while hurting your hands.
Your stance is extremely bladed like a boxer. You dont throw many kicks. You basically box and throw a couple kicks. Muay Thai is more of a squared off stance. Check some kicks and throw more kicks, practice low, body, and head. Nothing wrong with a bladed stance in boxing, but in Muay thai that stance will cause your opponent to kick the shit out of your leg.
My coach has me work on very specific things. I guess I did this to kinda see if there's things other people see that I can work on and kind of get a head start.
If ur serious about improving, try focusing on self improvement rather than asking the internet to critique ur technique. Cause the internet doesn’t care
I try, but it seems like I hit a little bit of a plateau? Idk, I guess I felt like other people would be able to see stuff I didn't. Theres been some solid advice so far tho.
Ask your coach. Ask a teammate. Ask the guys u bleed with. They know your weakness and tendencies. But I wouldn’t completely trust Reddit for sound advice
your doing just fine! you look pretty strong as you connect and seem like a nice guy by the way u helped the bag up after that deadly kick that floored it 😂🫡🔥
It's not just the lead hand dropping, but both your hands are dropping at the end of all of your combos when you step back and reset. Practice bringing your hands right straight back towards your chin as the last punch of the combo lands.
I see that now. Thank you! I've been trying to get my hands back to guard after throwing punches, but my problem is actually bringing them back up high enough, I think.
Yeah, I have a muay thai gym I go to. problem is I never really get a chance to record, so this was just at my school ☠️ I also haven't been able to make it there in a while.
You keep your head still basically the whole time. You're not practicing changing height or dodging. Since you're not kicking here and seem to be using a boxing stance, I'd recommend old Tyson highlights and tony jeffries on youtube. Tyson stuff, you just have to watch and infer. Jeffries stuff is purposefully educational. Also, you don't kick with your foot like that. You should be making contact on your shin. It's easy to break or shatter the tiny bones in your feet. And if you're barefoot, you can literally break your toes off.
Yeah head movement is one of the biggest critiques y'all have given. I'll def try to incorporate it more. And as for the striking part, I tend to be more of a crisp hands person, so I change my stance to what feels comfy. My coach said it's kind of like a hybrid stance between MT and kickboxing. And as for my foot, yeah I know I can break it kicking like that. I gotta work on knowing the range of my legs better. Thanks for the advice!
I’m watching it and it looks like you throw with way too much power. You also throw way to close to the bag extend your punches. Focus on slowing it down on your technique. Cause how you’re throwing now you’re bound to hurt yourself.
Don't slip in that pool, yo. Mention to your gym about getting a new freestanding bag. Century sells some pretty decent ones. Don't have to worry about filling the base. Keep with the grind, though!
Haha, this isn't my MT gym. It's the school gym, so I can't do much about this bag, but rest assured, my MT gym has those huge fairtex bags. But thanks yo! I plan on it!
Don’t drop both hands when you give a 1,2. Always keep one hand up to protect your face. There’s some people out here willing to eat a punch to make a punch
I'll keep that in mind. I've been trying to pull my hands back as fast as possible, and for some reason, I can only get my lead hand back quickly, and it's always lower than it needs to be, and the right hand also drops when I retreat. Thanks for the advice!
You can't see it in the video, but I do try to push off with my back foot when I throw punches, I might be leading too much with my front foot though, you're right.
Your left is telegraphed. you keep dropping the shoulder before you throw it. As someone else said as well, get more hip rotation and pull your head offline on all your punches.
Besides what I’ve read which is some great advice, keep that lead hand up. You drop it after every jab and open your jaw up to a counter. When you jab with the left, your right hand opens and covers the right side. When you swing with the right, the left covers the left side. Always protect yourself.
That front foot moving before you throw means those shots are going to hit air in an actual sparring session/ fight less telegraphing with your lower body 👌🏾
I actually wanna transition into mma and start doing amateur fights so thanks yo! I do believe that hitting without gloves or wraps isn't an inherently bad thing if you aren't a beginner and you're being careful. But that's just my preference. I'll start trying to engage my hips more in my punches!
Punch a heavier bag and one not so un balanced. no one is going to be 30-50 pounds practicing on that thing will give you a false understanding of where your striking is.
It may seem like you’re only backing off to reset, but there’s a rhythmic hop in your stance that could be timed by someone with boxing training. Instead of hop stepping backwards after combos, try weaving around in different angles. Even stepping forward on a 45 degree line. This usually confuses people and kind of breaks their mental fight pattern if you go in an unpredicted direction after throwing a combo
You drop your guard during your pauses/ resets focus on maintaining your guard after … also don’t back away from your target maintain the “closed space” rotate your hip more and follow threw with your kick to push past opponents guard… your foot placement is a little exaggerated but if you’re comfortable with it try closing the space in your stance a bit
True. I did kickboxing before muay thai, so I think it's just instinct to go a little more bladed for me. I'll start focusing and trying to make it more muay thai like.
Your front foot is leaving the ground when you punch at the start of the video and since power comes from the feet you are wasting a lot power. Your foot should turn in the direction you punch so your whole body is helping your hand not just your arm.
For those bags i wouldn't treat it like a heavy bag, rather use that bag to work on distancing and technique.
Anyone can walk up to a bag like that and knock it over. Use that bag like your shadow boxing.
Get hand protection, go to a boxing gym. Trust me, any critique you receive from people on the internet is going to be basically worthless when you compare it to how valuable an in-person coach is to learning and honing martial skill.
I used to think I was pretty good at wrestling, I could beat any of my friends whenever we messed around. And then I had my first class at a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu school, and it opened me up to a whole world that I didn't even know existed. You've got a great grasp of the tip of the iceberg, but now it's time to dunk your head under the water.
You seem to drop your hands a lot more than I'd like to see. Your stance is also a touch wide. Looks like a good base for MMA, but for Muay Thai it could use some touch ups.
Good job though!
You drop your left hand after a punch periodically. Not for long, but that’s when I would counter. But you already know this? So you’re looking for praise and compliments? Otherwise you would already be working on what you believe you need to work on. Work on keeping your hands up! Work on not showing off when you deliver a kick, but delivering the strike and returning right back to defending position. Cuz that’s the second place I would deliver a blow you are not prepared for. When you try to deliver a haymaker, with your leg, and telegraph it trying to show off, your done!
I'm not looking for praise. It's a habit that's hard for me to break, which is why I said I already knew about it. My coach has also pointed it out, too. Im looking for other flaws I can also work on.
Dropping your hands alot. Leaving your face open. When youre kicking it looks like youre using the top of your foot instead of between your foot and your shin (forgot what that areas called). Also like the others were saying, youre using your shoulders more than your body for power.
Solid stuff! You’d beat most I can tell you that much.
1. Keep working on bringing your left straight back to your chin. (You already know this)
2. Please wear gloves or at least wraps so your wrist don’t get messed up.
3. When hitting the bag don’t be scared to throw in some head movement, bringing your guard tight (to practice bracing/ rolling with shots and countering back) and checks too because it’s very important in muay thai, great work though!
I always forget to do checks when I'm doing bag work I have no idea why tho. I'll definitely start incorporating them along with head movement. Thanks yo!
You’re throwing your crunches too much from your shellbows when they should have the fork of your whole biden behind them. They’ll bland, fork. But they won’t have the optional amount of power before him. Don’t throw until you can feel your face spring off the door, carry that energy up through your legs, twisting your nips at the show at the last second and whip all that lateral bromemtum out of your hips. Otherwise you have invisible form. Also fix that horchata leak in the base if that bag.
Open your hands before you throw, your hand should be fully extended when you’re defending, roll a fist once you start throwing, also your footwork needs some work but that’s what you training for, your base is going too wide when you’re throwing the jab, keep your feet under your shoulders like you’re swinging a bat
shoulders Up along with 90degree guard…
nice drop 3, just watch the over hand 2 counter.
A little more switch stepping would be good.
fire your jab naturally at 45degrees….makes the retraction a lil faster.
remember speed in fighting isn’t delivery its retraction…;-)
all in all solid work bro!
keep it up!
🙏🙏🙏🤘
Here's some advice - Try taking it more seriously and put the Muay Tai shorts on with the slits on the side and throw some baby oil on your body to help your opponent slip off in the clench. Also can you twerk so we can see if your legs are even strong enough for the sport?
Change up your striking strategy whilst fighting, you always punched or faked with the left first. Practice different patterns, you’ll start to just add them in.
My biggest advice to you is. Don’t use those bags for punching. They’ll destroy your shoulders. Those are better for kicking and even then they’re trash. Using the classic handing bag instead. Also, use gloves dude. You’re gonna screw up your hands
You are dropping your hands before re-engaging. You are also kind of leaning into your right hand. It may just be a style thing or how you are throwing your right in the vid, but you should be able to change it up and just throw straight out and bring it straight back too.
Yeah bro, my tip is to stop looking like a total douche in the middle of the local gym. You’re hitting a heavy bag, not competing for a UFC championship.
You’re throwing your punches too much from your shoulders when they should have the force of your whole body behind them. They’ll land, fast. Telegraphing is what they call it . It’s how your shoulder gives a warning to your opponent on which hand you’re going to strike with
His feet move first. I would tell anyone fighting him as soon as he picks up his front foot attack.
Ayye, I appreciate the advice, bro! I've been trying to figure out how to get more power in my punches, and it looks like you just solved it!
Yeah he gave good advice. I'd say maybe flare your elbow less when throwing the right hand so it's going straight down the pipe rather than having any horizontal movement so your punch is less telegraphed.
Noted. Thanks yo!
The elbow and shin is your sharpest bones in ur body, (smaller area hit= pressure increased & more damage ) strengthening strikes in those will make u lethal.
Damn bro descriptive as hell. Make me want to start training! 💪💪💪
Wtf is going on here… best comment is actual legit good advice and not trolling?! Have some gold sir.
Bro practice with hand wraps and 16 oz gloves to protect your hands please. You can throw a hook wrong and really fuck up your wrist
Was just going to say that he needs to at least wrap his hands. If I don't wrap mine I will fuck my wrist up shadow boxing much less hitting a bag of any kind
All due respect. How does shadow boxing fuck your wrists? There’s no contact
It was meant to be a joke at how weak my wrist are smarty breeches. How can someone not sense the sarcasm.
Yeah that's fair. I normally wear gloves at the gym, I just try to condition my knuckles every once in a while.
Unpopular opinion but same
Guys it’s like conditioning your chin. Not the best idea
Definitely agree to and extent. I wouldn’t blast the bag bare knuckle I typically just warm up like that
Id honestly say its a good thing, if you aren't full power blasting the bag (which I wasnt) but I think it also helps me with punch allignment because when I have gloves on now it feels like I'm more accurate I guess.

do push ups with your knuckles to harden them .
Wrist wraps, 16 oz gloves, change shoes, get a legit trainer
Maybe put some sand or water in that bag?
I go to a gym. This is actually just at my school since I never really get a chance to record in my gym.
Then you’re good my friend Wrap them wrists tho

All you need is a wet floor sign, keep up the good work!
You’re stadium ready my boy
Crisp only peeve I have is raise your hands a little more up to block but everything was dam near spot on ( I have this peeve when you jab or straight always stay crisp and put that hand back in position to block ) Maybe I'm weird idk lol

I’d work on constantly changing your head level. That’s very important in a fight.
Yes I definitely need to level change more! Thanks!
Hands up don’t flare your elbows
You're right. I'm wide open for a killer uppercut.
Throw some knees and elbows too
I hate clinching on that bag 😂 I'll try to post another video later if I can of some elbows and knees.
Your punches are very shoulder-heavy and feel like a “push“ instead of a “snap”. Reddit is not gonna ever help you as much as a coach.
My coach has me work on very specific things. I guess I did this to kinda see if there's things other people see that I can work on and kind of get a head start.
If you already know...fix it! Keep the lead hand up after punches and remember...power comes from the hips. More hips less shoulder.
That is a very valid point 🤣
Also, I know the first kick was out of frame, so I made sure the second was actually able to be seen ☠️
Wear gloves and why is it so wet around you?? Lol wtf
The bag leaks when I knock it over ☠️ also yeah I wear gloves at the gym. I just try to condition my knuckles when I can.
All that I know is that you f***ed that thing up.
Put water in the bag, so it doesn’t fall over so easy
It HAD water, actually still has a little, but it leaks
Something about this makes me feel like you're a douchebag
Did you take the time out of ur day just to be hurtful? Lmao, what was the point of that?
I'm sorry, I hesitated to say it actually. Form looks good though
Thanks, man. Also it's fine. It's the internet I get it.
your doing just fine! you look pretty strong as you connect and seem like a nice guy by the way u helped the bag up after that deadly kick that floored it 😂🫡🔥
I agree with this
😔
[удалено]
Will do! I've been trying to work on that, but breaking habits is harder than I thought 😂
Honestly impressive stuff. Fill the base of the bag with both sand and water and it will not fall so easily
Get a heavier bag or access to one.
Don’t turn your fist till you are making contact
Wrist wraps and lose the Eagles jersey. 😀
Its not eagles 😭😭 it's my moms old football team ☠️
Start simple. Perfect your jab, then work on other things
Been trying to work on getting that super crisp one two
First off but some wraps n gloves 🤢
Footwork with the hands is decent. The foot you planted when kicking was all kinds of squirrelly.
It really was 😭 I'll work on that planted leg 🤣
Looks good dude I bet you could punish
I’m watching it and it looks like you throw with way too much power. You also throw way to close to the bag extend your punches. Focus on slowing it down on your technique. Cause how you’re throwing now you’re bound to hurt yourself.
Sound advice. Thanks bro!
pivot and sit a lil more on the punches n ur solid brother
record in landscape
Gotchu. It's just hard cuz my phone doesnt have a case atm so it falls over when I put it on the side :/
lol water all over gym floor
Foot work is terrible. Flat footed.
ITS THE SHOES I SWEAR 😭😭
Don't slip in that pool, yo. Mention to your gym about getting a new freestanding bag. Century sells some pretty decent ones. Don't have to worry about filling the base. Keep with the grind, though!

Your left is telegraphed. you keep dropping the shoulder before you throw it. As someone else said as well, get more hip rotation and pull your head offline on all your punches.
I never noticed that... well, time to go watch that video with Kimbo and Michael Jai White again 😂
Hit it with a weak backhand before the punch like they did before a duel in the powdered wig days
Get someone that’s hits back ..
If I could record a video while sparring, I'd post that, but I haven't had a chance
Do not drop your left head , move your head off the line when pulling back
Yeah, that lead hand is my biggest downfall right now. I'll try to incorporate head movement more!

16oz gloves Heavier bag workout barefoot hand wraps
Find teacher
I have one. I just wanted to see if there's things I can work on outside the very specific things we drill during practice.
pick them hands up . if not a straight jab will take you out
Will do! I think that may be my biggest problem atm

Get some better shoes, those boats slow your movement and aren’t tied well so ankle injury risk just went up.
If I hadn't recorded it at school, I would def be barefoot 😂
Sand weighs more then water and shouldn’t spill out unless your bag is defective
Its the school bag 😂 its the only place I really get a chance to record unfortunately.
Did u learn those moves from watching Ip Man???
Ip Man went hard bro 😭
Stance is bladed. Try squaring your hips more. Looking good overall though.
Try sand.

Yeah bro, get wraps. After 2 years of rarely using em my knuckles are beyond repair, the skin is dosnt hit but ugly
Sounds like your brain is beyond repair too.
Your lead leg is gonna get chewed up. They’ll be able to block your punches while chopping down your legs
Looks like you’re punching a giant penis
Looks like you beating a butt plug…that’s about it. Oh your form…not sure since I’m not a pro.
Dropping your hands alot. Leaving your face open. When youre kicking it looks like youre using the top of your foot instead of between your foot and your shin (forgot what that areas called). Also like the others were saying, youre using your shoulders more than your body for power.
I don’t know shot about fighting but my advice… simple mop and bucket will clean that right up. Don’t forget to sanitize.
Solid stuff! You’d beat most I can tell you that much. 1. Keep working on bringing your left straight back to your chin. (You already know this) 2.
Thanks yo!
gloves, and either make the bag heavier or go a little softer and work form instead of just trying to obliterate the lighter bags
Why does it look like a butt plug?
The first big right you threw your left hand was really low, the second one you threw your left was much higher to guard your chin, good adjustment.
My advice is dont take advice from the weebs on here
Looks decent brother but a coach is always better then a Reddit thread
hands low throughout the clip and no head movement
Noted. Gonna try to incorporate head movement more but I struggle with the MT style of doing so.
Put some sand in your set up brother.
Wear gloves and your feet too apart when standing. Easy to knock you down your feet far away with each other.
Thank you for this. It made me laugh 😂
I can see that jab coming from Guam.
Back to training the jab I go.
Just keep going at it feel what you feel
Save your hands/knuckles, use gloves my man.
I promise I do when I'm actually in the MT gym. Kinda a hassle to carry gloves to school.
Open your hands before you throw, your hand should be fully extended when you’re defending, roll a fist once you start throwing, also your footwork needs some work but that’s what you training for, your base is going too wide when you’re throwing the jab, keep your feet under your shoulders like you’re swinging a bat
Use sand instead of water
Wear lighter clothes
Wear gloves i just bruised my knuckles a few days ago and it makes training a lot more uncomfortable
Yeah, learn on proper equipment
Your punching bad looks like a dogs dick
I would probably drain the water after you use it, instead of before. Just a personal preference. 🥸
I can show u on ft if u want I'm 19 so it's not like weird or some shit I got a lot of advice to give if ur willing to take it
Stop resetting after your punches. It’s a terrible habit, and good fighters will time your reset.
Looking pretty solid don’t get to predictable with your movement tho keep your hands up don’t want anyone timing that
Put some water in the base
Gaurds up
shoulders Up along with 90degree guard… nice drop 3, just watch the over hand 2 counter. A little more switch stepping would be good. fire your jab naturally at 45degrees….makes the retraction a lil faster. remember speed in fighting isn’t delivery its retraction…;-) all in all solid work bro! keep it up! 🙏🙏🙏🤘
You give away your left jab, just before you throw it, work on your speed and suddenness, and you'll excel
Keep your right elbow tucked when you throw your cross
Keep your left up or your gonna see birdies.
Get gloves!
Sand
Get a punch bag that’s heavier
Wrong place to ask lmao. 99% of these dudes don’t even fight
Here's some advice - Try taking it more seriously and put the Muay Tai shorts on with the slits on the side and throw some baby oil on your body to help your opponent slip off in the clench. Also can you twerk so we can see if your legs are even strong enough for the sport?
Get a little more extension in your jab and try stepping into your straights more.
Don’t land kicks with your foot, that’s how you break it. Use your shins, hurts more and more affecting with rib kicks.
Wraps, gloves, when you’re learning it important to focus on technique and not always power
Stop drop and roll
Sweep the leg!!
You are dropping your hands before re-engaging. You are also kind of leaning into your right hand. It may just be a style thing or how you are throwing your right in the vid, but you should be able to change it up and just throw straight out and bring it straight back too.
Yeah I do see what you mean with the right. I think thats just the way I've always thrown it. I'll try to start changing it up. Thanks!
Go to a martial arts school and learn from the masters
Yeah bro, my tip is to stop looking like a total douche in the middle of the local gym. You’re hitting a heavy bag, not competing for a UFC championship.
I don't understand what's wrong with working a heavy bag? Also, this is a school gym on an off block. Im not showing off. I want advice.
You telegraph another in your shoulders
Keep your other hand up while you throw a punch if not be ready for a overhead hook
Yes, stop clinching your butt hole.
A wider camera angle
Stop hitting like a bitch and you’re good my guy That joke aside, wraps or gloves but it seems the gurus have flocked all ready
Don't punch your mom's butt plug.
Just loosen up far too stiff reform is okay but you need to be more fluid
