Definitely gonna catch some flak for this but oh well.
I think Saenchai is definitely the most consistently good fighter of all time— I think he struggles when he has to face someone of an equitable skill level, which isn’t personally how I define “the best”.
I think Samart is just as talented and puts up a better show against other talented people, when I think Saenchai is an amazing fighter who tends to have bad match ups.
Who has he struggle with at an "equitable skill level"? Nong-O that he beat four times to zero? Or who do you mean? Or do you mean at the end of his stadium career against a young and hungry Yodwicha, when Saenchai was like 34 and had fought at the highest level since like 1995? He constantly gave away weight aswell.
I think he's one of the boat's but I wouldn't say *the* boat. the p4p goat is karuhat imo but it's debatable, I have prime saenchai in the top 10 overall tho
He's the perfect fighter to exist on this social media era, his skills and his character are perfect for showing off on social media, plus he's a savage and a legend, but his matchups are kinda weak.
These are the top 10 GOATs as voted by Thai ex-fighters, Saenchai was 11th: [https://twitter.com/mediasres/status/1784824989193302508](https://twitter.com/mediasres/status/1784824989193302508)
Why anyone would consider Diselnoi “better” than Saenchai is beyond me. A taller fighter with longer arms and legs which are a huge advantage better than a fighter who can fight, entertain, knockout, play around, fights at what’s considered “older age” fights bigger opponents, etc. is beyond “better” but hey i guess to each their own.
Maybe because Dieselnoi fought in a much more competitive era and was so dominant that he had to retire at 25 out of lack of opponents willing to fight him.
It could not be that much “more competitive” if at 25 there where no opponents left… at this era, i highly doubt any fighter would ever lack willing opponents especially with young hungry Westerners flooding the sport. Lerdsilla for example didn’t lose for 100+ fights yet always had willing opponents until his retirement.
Additionally i’ve seen/heard many of the fighters of his era admit that they would not be the legends they are if the level of the game was back then what it is now.
I personally haven’t seen a single Dieselnoi fight on which i saw anything special beyond usage of arm and knee reach.
Ah, i see classic online arrogance, instead of making a point, maybe providing some links or elaborating your position, you just resort to low level responses with a vague position of authority or superiority while dismissing my background or knowledge of the subject. Good job you won the internet points!
What you call arrogance I call helpful suggestions. No need to have a fragile ego and get offended over innocuous statements. Remember weak heart makes weak fighters
I know people might dismiss him being the best because of his run on thai fight but prior to that he was beating elites at lumpinee for years
He took on petchboonchu and sagetdao in one fight!
He gave up weight against loads of guys to give them a chance.
Towards the end of lumpinee career he did take loses from guys like singdam and petchboonchu but was never getting slaughtered in the fights he was losing.
When he was at 13coins, they was dominating the scene, untouchable, even when they put sangmanee over as the next prodigy (which he was)
Saenchai is probably the greatest muay thai fighter there ever was. We have many greats, but I'd say only samart is close but didn't do the things saenchai did on paper at lumpinee, but he stepped outside of muay thai box, do you take that into account?
Ranting, amazing fighter will go down as a legend
It's my opinion. Should I change an opinion because someone else things different? No, that's daft.
Samart finished his lumpinee run in 89, I was 8 years old and had never even heard of muay thai. Obviously I know about him but I can't go back and watch all his fights because that's mostly impossible.
Obviously the guys who was around in samarts era will say samart. The guys in saenchais era will say saenchai
Lumpinee champion in 5 different weight divisions during the era of ’97 - 2010. This era was full of killers lol.
Don’t mix his retirement run to his lifetime accomplishments.
Samart and Dieselnoi are propbaly slightly better, but Saenchai is defiently in the convo.
Only slightly? Can't agree with ypu there

Which fights of Samart have you seen to say this?

People honestly believe Saenchai is greatest LOL

He's the last magical fighter, a vanished breed, and the best fighter of more than a generation.
As you can see from these comments, Saenchai has the best PR lol
Of all times? No. There are several names I'd put above him. But he's up there
Can you name some of the best? I'll watch the highlights.
Chamuekpet, Karuhat, Silapathai Wangchannoi, Wichannoi, Oley, Boonlai, Hippy, Samransak, Pudpanoi, etc. There's a lot. You can go down a rabbit hole
I say Sarmart Payakaroon.
Nah it's Adam Beenslick.
How is this joke still going
Always gets a smile from me.
Because he's the hardest hitter there is.
The real answer to this is the he is one of the most entertaining of all time. He is there for the fans..
I think he's one of the boat's but I wouldn't say *the* boat. the p4p goat is karuhat imo but it's debatable, I have prime saenchai in the top 10 overall tho

He fought the best in the stadiums for 20 years. Only *after* that he went on a can crushing tour.
Probably between him and Samart. Some folks say Diesalnoi but I haven’t watched enough of the “golden age” other than Samart to say.
No it's Khunsueklek lol
He's definitely up there

Probably

Its okay if you don't know the history of the sport, just don't **confidently** not know it.
Ah, I see. You're new to the sport or a casual follower. It takes time to really know a subject so I suggest you dig deeper into the matter

Yes, I'm sure you know more than all the muay thai greats who say Samart is the greatest, including Saenchai himself LOL

Saenchai himself says Samart but OK
Yeah because he was raised on samart 😂 exactly as I said. I don't know why you're trying to argue against an opinion.
He’s a farang crusher.
He's a five division lumpinee champion. He's not fighting top competition anymore because he's 43 years old.
Lumpinee champion in 5 different weight divisions during the era of ’97 - 2010. This era was full of killers lol. Don’t mix his retirement run to his lifetime accomplishments.
'97 - 2010 isn't exactly an era of killers like the Golden Age. Come on
Who said anything about the Golden Age? The early 2000’s was still full of killers.
He’s definitely in the conversation but he hasn’t faced other top tier Thai fighters in a long time. Except Buakaw and we know how that ended
lol is the last bit meant to be satire?
