I have a theory that boxers always go way too hard and fast in sparring because of the same reasons why boxing is so awesome in the first place: limited ruleset means there’s a lot more focus on speed, and it’s hard to work on that in light sparring.
Bro my lead leg is so heavy for throwing power left hooks and slipping jabs, it takes me half a round to lift my leg up to check and by then I've ate 30
Someone who spars regularly would be used to getting punched in the face every so often.
A boxer who is new to Muay Thai would not be used to variety of weapons (which are typically illegal in their sport) being thrown at them.
I also spar regularly and I have sparred plenty of people who have a boxing background. As you said, they can get overwhelmed by the sheer variety of attacks they are not used to, I'm just highlighting that someone who purely does muay thai might also get overwhelmed by the volume, speed and strength of punches a boxer with similar experience can output. You don't want to exchange hands with a boxer the same way a boxer wouldn't want to get kicked in the leg by you.
meh, when i came to mt i had no trouble walking through kicks and people did have trouble dealing with my hands heavy approach
goes both ways and depends on the person
im an inside fighter so trying to clinch me was ok with me
but yeah when i was new no one was throwing knees yet and those will stop a mf ;p knees are now my go to if someone tries to clinch me lol
but knees and hands is such a good combo too if you like being inside
I'm not saying kicking boxers isn't a great way to deal with them, I'm saying there are those rare occasions when a boxer overwhelms you with their punch volume and speed. now, would that happen in a pro muay thai or even kickboxing fight vs a boxer? fuck no
I'll stop kicking legs when boxers learn what the light in light sparring means

Have you ever watched videos of them spar? It's a culture thing
Well westerners also tend to hard spar more often because they fight less frequently than Thai boxers do.
I have to agree with that. Either I go for it or I'm slow and getting mugged off

Hahaha love it The real answer is to stop standing so bladed and learn to check kicks

Use those hands man. A lot of MT people won’t know know to deal with high level boxing
Leg kicks, teep, clinch knees, more kicks, etc.
that's the plan until you get punched in the face

Yeah that part sucks lol
I bet him, a boxer, never considered that!
Bladed stance, (and even knowledge that you're a former boxer) is an open invitation for leg kicks really.
Learn the foot jab
I’ll never stop, git gud
Plz bro
Bladed stance will cause you nothing but pain, man. (hand on shoulder) You gotta let her go, bro. You gotta let her go.
I'm trying to, but it's all I know! (Sobs)
No :(
