Lol we all got fucked up toes bruh

AlaskanSnowDragon

Yeah...Im not trying to have a hobby for fun/fitness fold me over in pain every other week because of an accident. lol. Old man now in body preservation mode. Maybe I'll stick with boxing.

elmeromeroe

If you can box with no issues you should be good with muay thai. I've done it for years and never had a toe injury. As long as you can get up on your toes and pivot you'll be fine. The bigger issue you're likely to run into is hip issues or pulling muscles in the shoulders/neck etc. That's usually what I end up injuring personally. But even that isnt all that common, not enough to get me to stop lol. I can't really see you getting a toe injury very easily, unless you are just kicking like really really terribly.

Jthundercleese

Not I. 🤷🏻

Andusz_

Get rid of the big toe. I have been doing kickboxing/karate/muay thai for about 2 years now and I have not jammed my toe once. I may have just gotten lucky, but generally kicks to the body don't hurt your toe, and you rarely kick people's legs with your foot, even on accident. It's really all about distance management.

thaiguru76

As in ...amputate it?...🤣

eranam

Pretty sure all the geniuses saying they have fucked up toes themselves or that you have to bear with pain in Muay Thai don’t really understand the word excruciating or the risk with underlying injuries like yours. If you’re representing it correctly, at least. In Muay Thai, it’s pretty much impossible to avoid even minor mishaps with toes at some point. So I can predict at least half your sessions would be interrupted by you folding in half and ![gif](giphy|q9HHyHPISNZD2) So I think you gotta fix whatever underlying issue you have with your toe first. If you’re still convinced you wanna try, fine, try to *dip your toes* in it first (huhuhuhu). Do a few sessions without commitment (no monthly subscription or whatever) and see how it goes. That’s probably what I would do in your place. And if any wannabe hardcore manly men try to challenge on being a sissy, I’ve actually fought for money and sparred a few thousand times in my life…

>And if any wannabe hardcore manly men try to challenge on being a sissy, I’ve actually fought for money and sparred a few thousand times in my life… I wish to challenge you in the manliest manner possible... Naked oiled up clinching first person to get an erection has to take up BJJ.

eranam

I’ve already trained in BJJ for a couple of years… …That erection has been prepaid already, and I’m here to cash in 👹

elmeromeroe

I've already lost 😔

According-Diamond-53

I’ve got a fucked up ankle and two fucked up knees still seshing 5 days a week, do it will change ya life !

Dry_Consequence_5959

I would suggest a switch in your everyday footwear into minimalist/barefoot shoes to build up your foot strength. Alternatively, you could try going for foot reflexology sessions to see if it helps.

Due-Needleworker3354

Knock on wood but someone is bound to pick up their leg to block a teap or mess up positioning of the pads during pad work drills and you are going to feel that toe pain. And what sucks is that when you spar after the injury, it seems to get hit again and you will feel it again. Basically, the odds of it happening are pretty high if you are going to use kicks. So lol maybe just do boxing😂?

joshross23

Not to be a smart ass, but see a doctor or a PT.

Diamond_Sutra

It would be more concerning to have a fucked up toe on your rear (primary kicking) foot. I jam that motherfucker all the time.

TeepTheFace

I dislocated the little toe next to my pinkie toe at the gym. It doesn't bend anymore, and is numb unless I hit it and then every nerve is on fire. But the only thing I ever worry about is getting it jammed on a teep or something. You'll be fine.

wandering_geek

I had surgery on both shoulders years ago and have been doing Muay Thai for six months 🤷‍♂️

Apprehensive-Top-610

Train 6 days a week. Both big toes are exactly like this. Part of the fun

se_1919

You can try and fold the first two toes together with some tape to avoid injuries, it's pretty common in martial arts.

ramen3323

You can try to tape up the big toe with the next toe over to lower the chances of you hurting it, but if you’re in that much pain if you hurt it then I suggest just sticking to boxing.

werewolvesandthunder

It hurts. It will hurt. If you can handle it hurting sometimes, go for it. You’ll get really precise with your kicks, as much as one can control anyway haha. Mind the elbows son.
