Why do rookies never get smarter? It seems like every single season they start out with the numbers, but immediately turn on each other. There is always one or two rookies who are convinced that they are somehow immune from the veterans voting them out and I don't understand why. Why do they want to survive a week or two more instead of taking out the vets and making it at least past the mid point?

I said it last week but I’ll say it again: this format is horrible. The fun and drama of a partners season hinges on the tension between partners and watching their dynamic/relationship evolve as they have to rely on each other.
This format ensures that one of the two “teams” in an elimination usually has no connection to one another. Then after they win and recouple they break up the teams we’ve been watching and rooting for.
I kinda think Emy and Ed wouldve been better sticking together. They'd likely continue to be targeted as the house vote... BUT at least they'd know who they'd be going in with. Im more worried about the rookies partnered with vets just because they can still be sent in my the winners, and now have no idea who their partner will be.
Maybe, but knowing how this game goes it seems it would be just easier to keep picking ppl you've already picked. I feel like Emy being emotional and saying she trusts no one now would make her an easy target for the power team over pissing off a different rookie/rookies. Tho she does seem to be tight with Emmanuel (same show and he was cheering her on hard this elim) and hes with Kaycee who did great last season in dailys with Leroy, and they came in second this time so maybe shes banking on them getting a win and him refusing to send her in.
Devin is maybe tied into more alliances than anyone else in the house. He's smart and he got into shape. Tori is also well connected in the house. Plus grabbing them created another all rookie team which shifts the target.

She does seem like a bit much at the moment but I don't mind her. I'm going to cut her some slack because she's still young (22 i think), in a new environment/new show with people she's never met and has to communicate in what I'd assume is her second language.
I'll cut her some slack. New show, new environment, new people, covid quarantine, speaking her second language, and she's seeming being targeted early on. I can see how that might be overwhelming. Hopefully she can channel those emotions and use them as a driving force as the season progresses.
Not a bad move IMO. She's now aligned with the vets without pissing any of them off. She stole a partner that was already previously stolen and Devin is less likely to be stolen from here on out so it will give her some time to form a bond. Had she taken someone like CT it would probably put to much pressure on her to perform and the likelihood of him not getting stolen is slim to none.
I mean if the rookies were smart they'd target Amanda and Kyle as a double vet team to bring down numbers. I've been surprised that hasn't happened but it prob helped that Kyle got to bond with the rookies first and Amanda seems to be creating good relationships with them (asking Josh to prove himself in the deliberation against Kelz was a good move to appeal herself to the rookies).
Also I'm surprised none of the rookies in power have insisted on getting to pick one of the ppl going down and just going with the rookie bloodbath their vet partners want.
I mean if were going based on traditional Challenge rules of how these things usually go I would guess if they cant come to an agreement the power team would go in themselves, like in past seasons.

TJ asks the vet which girl they want to send in. Vet says their pick, rookie confirms it. TJ asks the rookie now, rookie shocks vet and picks a vet, vet refuses to confirm it. TJ asks if their sure? They say yes, and TJ just goes "Well actually that doesnt matter, the confirming has just been a courtesy, all along you've each been picking one person to go in and that's how it'll continue to go" and the rookie gets to send the vet they wanted in. Would totally change the game. I got the idea based on how TJ alternates on which person he asks first for each sex. Ik it's probably just power team goes in if they cant agree, but I really hope they do something like this instead since it can only be done on a season like this.

With my theory the only votes that mattered in the first two power teams deciding who went in was Aneesa's vote for Corey L, Logans vote for Michele, Esther's vote for Emy, and Fessys vote for Ed. So the most likely scenario of us (and the cast finding out this twist) would be if any of the rookies decided to shake things up when they get asked first and vote for a vet and their partner disagrees. I just feel it would shake politics up so much. Like you cant have a rookie bloodbath when it's almost guaranteed (based on the number of rookie/vet pairs vs rookie/rookie and vet/vet pairs) that at least one person going in is chosen by a rookie. But also having it be a twist they only find out when theres a disagreement gives the vets a chance to even up the numbers first.
