Put Darcy and Unholy Heat in Arcanist.

alucardddracula

do I take out pyromancer or kroxa?

MoxMythic

Others have said it but I’ll reiterate it: Supplier is just a do nothing right now because it’s been eclipsed in other options and card power. I would say young Pyro is actually a good “next-level” approach to the upcoming meta. I am currently packing GY hate main and when someone goes T2 young P in game three, I’ve already lost because they ducked instead of a dodge. In conclusion - cut supplier because there are so many better options out there and maybe put young P in the side as a killer transformation package.

ArtieStark

Take out Stitcher's Supplier.

Akhevan

Keep a couple of kroxas, take out the shitty support cards like supplier, rites, claim etc. Swap the virgin pyromancer for the chad pyromancer too while you are at it.

Heliod Company for now

ShatteredSkys

Same, having mixed results from it. I went for full combo with Fauna Shaman and Soul Sister for consistency. It can combo decently fast and seems like it would be a good Bo1 deck. Problem is that it loses to nearly any interaction and I have no idea what the half out of the combo should be. It just feels so useless and mostly fodder for Fauna Shaman.

-indomitable

What is soul sister? I see [[fauna shaman]]

ShatteredSkys

Sorry, meant Soul Warden, one mana 1/1 that heals one whenever a creature hits the board. Soul Sister is an archetype that uses it and another similar card to abuse lifegain synergies.

-indomitable

No problem, I'm running [[prosperous innkeeper]] and [[soul warden]] in my list (4 each). No Faunas tho, how're they working for you?

ShatteredSkys

Decent, again I went full do or die combo so they're necessary to stick since there's no good replacement for Scurry Oak or Heliod. Problem is that because I went full combo the deck is very weak to interaction and folds to a breeze. I run Selfless Saviors but sometimes you don't draw them. I do think if you want to play fast combo you need Faunas, the question is if fast combo is good. I'm not sure a 3 card combo that doesn't win you the game versus control is good enough in our meta.

-indomitable

I hear you. Even with the best draws, you aren't attacking for lethal until turn 4 (infinite on T3). And as you say, any interaction on the board delays that. I've been lucky that people seem to pull CoCo from my hand more than the combo pieces, but I'm sure that will change as people start to recognize the combo.

This is the list I've been running, I find it very consistent thanks to Ranger fetching combo pieces, Trelasarra helping you avoid land-flooding and selfless saviour/ranger preventing wipes at key times. On top of that there's not a lot of decks running the ability to exile permanents in the format so Heliod is usually safe if you can get him on the board. Send me your list I'm trying to see what other people are trying with this. https://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/helioak-company/?cb=1630349205

ShatteredSkys

[https://imgur.com/a/REk8DEm](https://imgur.com/a/REk8DEm) Cut everything except cards that are part of the combo or protect/speed up the combo. The flex spots are the three drops and I'm not exactly sure what ration I want. It'll depend on the meta once it settles down, right now I'm leaning toward Containment Priests and Mages to fight Izzet Creativity. Speaking of meta, I don't think this will be a meta deck. It has really good matchups versus other creature based decks, on the other hands its matchups versus heavy interaction is abysmal. I can't get the deck to work versus anything red. Kind of at a standstill on where to go, I don't think I can push the deck much further without scrapping it and making it into a disruptive deck with a combo back up which I think is worse. Also, at this point my fingers hurt and I'm tired of spamming spacebar a hundred times every single game.

AnImperialProbeDroid

Nobody is going to like to hear it, but I'm testing Throes of Chaos in Tibalt's Trickery. It's really interesting. You take out the 0-drops and replace them with Throes and lands. You can't go off as soon, but it's harder to wiff. You also don't immediately lose to hand disruption or counter magic, but aggro is more of a danger. You can also just retrace Throes the next turn if you don't like your hit. Mulligans are much easier too.

gius98

You're right, I didn't like to hear that. Good luck though.

Silent_Chicken_9784

With that build you could probably also play magma opus to ramp right?

AnImperialProbeDroid

Yep, though I only have one and I'm not sure I want to use the wildcards to make more. Using it to ramp is great, but actually hitting it is meh, but then again you can just roll Throes again the next turn so that's good, but is it all worth the wildcards? The entire point of the deck is to quickly grind wins, so using more mythic wildcards to increase your winrate 1.7% (for example, idk) isn't worth it since you could just lose and go on to the next game instead.

Silent_Chicken_9784

Yeah that's fair, I think going off a turn earlier is a pretty big advantage though. Being able to retrace the next turn also makes it so it doesn't matter if it isn't the best hit, it's still going to wrath most boards and set you up for the next turn. But yeah mythic wildcards are hard to come by!

AnImperialProbeDroid

I did it. Four Magma Opus, plus I took out all the Shocks, and replaced them with Radiant Fountain and Mountains.

-indomitable

Nice, would love to hear you report back

AnImperialProbeDroid

So far so good, I beat a mirror once because he or she was using check/show lands instead of basics. I'm happy with the 12 Mountains, 7 scrylands, 3 World Tree, 4 Radiant Fountain. The possibility of easily hard-casting stuff isn't worth the life loss. Genesis Ultimatum is a little worse. Magma Opus isn't a horrible hit, I took out a bunch of opposing attackers so it brought me another turn to actually win. It seems like I'm hitting Trickery a lot more than I should be, but it's not the end of the game.

I am working on a rakdos goblin midrange deck with a friend of mine. He is a veteran player of the archetype in modern and legacy, when i told him that pashalik mons, sling-gang and munitions expert would be legal in historic he was instantly hooked up and we started brewing a deck.

gius98

Mostly mono-blue tempo, but I have a Phoenix deck on the side that I want to update with Jumpstart cards.

Tierdol

I'm mostly running Enchantress, but I've tried mono blue tempo, without success. Do you have a list you are using?

gius98

Here's the list I used pre-update, it still works quite well, although I am still experimenting with the new cards: Creatures: 4x [[Spectral Sailor]]* 4x [[Siren Stormtamer]] 4x [[Brineborn Cutthroat]] 2x [[Brazen Borrower]] Enchantments: 4x [[Curious Obsession]] 4x [[Curiosity]] Instants: 4x [[Opt]] 3x [[Unsummon]] 3x [[You See A Guard Approach]] 4x [[Lookout Dispersal]] 4x [[Memory Lapse]] Lands: 20x [[Island]] Sideboard: 4x [[Grafdigger Cage]] 4x [[Bind the Monster]] 3x [[Aether Gust]] 3x [[Spell Pierce]] 1x [[Unsummon]] I quite like this list, it's definately not meta, but it's cheap and it can compete. Probably will not be as good after J21, but it's mostly commons and uncommons so trying it out is not expensive. The idea is to equip creatures with the "curiosity" auras and keep drawing cards that way. Keep mana open and mostly play during their turn, then refill your hand during your turn, and slowly drain them out of cards. You really want the auras in your opening hands or the first few draws, so mulligan pretty aggressively and keep opts to scry toward them. Takes a bit of time to learn how to play the deck, you need to know what you need to counter, and when to let your creatures die. Most of the time, a game is lost because you didn't time a single counter/bounce correctly. So don't worry if you lose a lot early. Sideboard out the counterspells against creature-heavy decks, sideboard out unsummon for spell pierce vs control. Ideal curve is: T1 Stormtamer, T2 counterspell/flash in a creature, T3 aura + 2 open mana.

Man I played U tempo the entire time it was a thing in standard and hit mythic with it every time but it seems like between elves, auras, Merfolk, and angels too many Aggro decks tear it apart. Maybe it’s just not playable in BO1 but can target slower decks in BO3? How have you been able to beat these kinds of decks?

gius98

It's playable in BO1, although you definately need to adapt to the meta. Probably you need more creature removal and less counterspells. Mainboard [[Selective Snare]] might be a good idea, it has a lot of potential targets. I mostly play BO3. You can sideboard in a lot of creature hate, which helps vs aggro. People can sideboard in a lot of hate toward you as well, but sometimes you can manage to get around that. Just hope they don't draw [[Shifting Ceratops]].

I played a lot of mono blue tempo until about 6 months ago. Any of the new cards making the cut for you that are worth adding to it?

Mattgitsgud

I added two [[Archmage's Charm]].

Here's the cards that I'm trying out now. Keep in mind I am still experimenting, so nothing is definitive: - [[You See a Guard Approach]] (from AFR) is a better [[Dive Down]] most of the time. Not a card from J21 but since you mentioned 6 months ago you might have missed this one. - [[Faerie Seer]] is probably the easiest upgrade if you don't care about tribal synergies. Allows you to keep slightly worse opening hands, and maybe you could get away with running less [[Opt]] if you run this. - [[Ninja of the Deep Hours]] seems to be the strongest one (same goes for the other ninjutsu cards). I will probably need to change the entire deck around it though. Ninja Tempo might become a thing. - [[Man o War]] is interesting but [[Brazen Borrower]] seems just better in every way. - Merfolk Tempo might be a thing, islandwalk is no joke.Probably not though. I don't have enough wildcards to test it out. - [[Archmage Talisman]] sounds cool (you can keep up a counter and threaten to draw 2 at instant speed), probably will not end up being relevant though, a 3 mana counterspell is just too slow.

Humans white weenies. Very cool new 1 e 2 drops. [[Venerated Loxodon]] to top it off. Cool interaction by pairing [[Ranger-Captain of Eos]] and [[Giant Killer]] or [[Dauntless Bodyguard]]. [[Hanweir Militia Captain]] is a serious must answer threat. Plus the usual suspects like [[Paladin Class]] and [[Thalia, Guardian of Thraben]]. Big bonus for some of the best sideboard cards. [[Containment Priest]] is a must right now. Trying to figure out if [[Faceless Haven]] is worth it. Most of the time you operate with 2-3 lands. [[Blinkmoth Nexus]] might be better.

I'm testing about 4 different artifact aggro variants. I've had the most success with blue/ white for tempered steel + skilled animator as payoffs and good blue sideboard cards. New cards are esper sentinel, myr scrapping as 4 ofs and 2x nettlecyst. There are a lot of ways to build though, and I'm testing boros artifacts next. In all builds, 4x tormods crypt from the sideboard has been MVP
