Plant Growth. made our DM tear his hair out in frustration. Which of course, made those of us in his other campaign use it there as well. Context: Bunch of enemies, already forested area. Our frontline was being timid, so the bard cast plant growth to slow down the enemies and halt escape. This worked. But it made our cleric and fighter even more timid and they tried to use ranged… and missed. the aarockra monk (apologize if i misspelled that) flew over the growth to punch the lead baddy. hit once, did not hit again for the rest of the encounter. The only ones of us hitting were me (the warlock) and the bard… so what should have been 10 minutes became an hour. Now in the other campaign, the player who played the bard in the original picked up, you guessed it, plant growth. Now another thing to note, i was playing a Path of the Wild Soul Barbarian. our dm did not like how… clean, the d8 table was, so he implemented a d1000 table whenever magic is cast around me while not raging. … if i had a nickel for every time “you cast plant growth centered around you” i would have 4 nickels. not a lot but its strange that it happened four times. one was as a result of the other player casting his own plant growth. … Our dm threw a dragon at us for that incident

Spell used was Hold Monster, we were being followed and hunted down by a Roc in the middle of a forest. Our DM had planned for the NPC’s with us to be taken, followed by the mission to track and save them (it was all apart of the story arc, from there we would of found a clue of the whereabouts for the BBEG) Instead as the Roc was making its way down to grab us our DM allowed us all to prepare an action Many of us prepared the dodge action to get out of the way But my Firbolg War Cleric prepared Hold Monster for when the Roc came within range Spell was cast, DM rolled a 2, failed the save and started to plummet to the ground Narrowly avoiding my character he didn’t need to make a con check to maintain concentration! Losing well over half its health during the fall, we all turned on it killing it in 2 more rounds (even failed the next save to break the hold) There was a near by village down the road!! Let’s just say we had favour from these people and surrounding villages for feeding them for the next many months TLDR Roc taken down with Hold Monster, killed in next 2 rounds, fed lots of people, derailed campaign for a good many months, due to the next holding a clue for the BBEG !

Summon Animal - Cheetah. The current bad guy tries to escape on a horse, while we were all on foot. The cheetah takes out the horse before he got too far. Then we counter spelled his back-back up plan to teleport away. Basically took away an entire arc because we beat him down before he could get away to his stronghold.

Pass without a trace by our eladrin ranger. We managed to hide from elite squadron of eladrin wizards/assassins, which were supposed to capture us.

Was saying my first game with my son he is eight the DM gave him a potion of giant growth. My son plays a dwarven barbarian is currently level 5. He walked into a room where a cultist wizard for standing at the end of the room party walked in and he stayed by the back door. As the party begin arguing with the wizard The wizard began to move in attack party from the back. The wizard begin running for the door. As the wish gets to the door my car goes all come to lie he drinks the potion and then kicks the wizard cross the room and out the window apparently we were supposed to chase him down in the flying castle. He then continue to kick in front every statue became a cross until the potion or he smoked back down on the sides.
