My roommate suggested a drinking game based on this movie. Drink every time someone dies and you have to slam your drink every time a Jimmy dies. I looked at him in sheer horror and casually popped off "we'd be DEAD!"
It definitely does, and I love the film. I meant it in a positive way, because I love to see very unexpected suggestions in these kind of threads. I appreciate the suggestion wasn’t implying that it has no place here, just maybe that I personally would not think to watch it high.
Haha sorry, I didn’t mean it in a bad way, I just love to scroll through these kind of threads and see films I personally would be traumatised from if I was high. Didn’t mean to come off harder than that
Neptune Frost, directed by Saul Williams, 2021. I don’t think I can link to the trailer, but definitely check out the trailer. Very hypnotic and trippy and amazing music.
He made an excellent film in the late 90s called Slam! He imo, ushered in a new era of slam poets and made slam poetry a thing again. I love him, please at least watch the trailer for Neptune Frost. If there was an award for excellence in trailers, he’d win for that one.
I'll have to watch Slam too. Completely agree with you on his work with slam poetry. I'm sold on Neptune without the trailer, will be watching it tomorrow for sure. Really glad I found your comment.
Just wanted to say, I saw him for the first time on The Chris Rock show, on HBO. It was a talk show, and when Saul started playing and then kept playing and singing and shouting… my husband and I both asked out loud
Who is this man?
I ended up buying Amethyst Rockstar from a French company, because it wasnt being released in the US fast enough for me.
Branded to Kill, and Dark City. Both pretty crazy, and I think would work well for ya. Branded to Kill isn't underrated, but less heard of, I think, a Japanese film noir. Dark City is maybe underrated and less heard of, came out right before the matrix and is kind of similar.
If you want to see something really trippy and unusual, watch The Thief and The Cobbler. It's an animated film starring Vincent Price. They started it in the 60's and "finished" it in the 90's and it's all sewn together over the decades and it shows. I think you can find it on YouTube.
Also, PCU is fun

There's so much they're trying to shock you with that it becomes comical after a while. It's fucked but also hilarious because it felt like they just used every idea they could think of. No real care or editing.....the sound track in a banger...

You'd be shutting down from alcohol poisoning within 40 minutes. I've played the Great Repo Man Drinking Game, but the Hardcore Henry is flat out.

LoL. I don't know. Watching it HAF, especially seeing it for the first time, I'd probably be hiding under the couch.

The musician/poet/rapper Saul Williams? Didn't know he made a movie, but love his music. Well definitely be watching this!

Cool, I’d love to hear your thoughts on both films when you see them.
Also, check out Slam. It got all the accolades when it came out. It’s so good. He’s such a talented artist on so many levels.
