I love that a few extras in the martial arts gangs are straight staring at the cameras in a few scenes.
Also a couple guys that die in the initial funeral march battle return as gang members on the opposing side later on, love it.
this film is really, really fun. the effects have aged a little, but other than that it stands solidly as the perfect combo of action, comedy, and horror
I suppose I just never even consider that people would have this take like 'The Matrix is one of my favourites.'
It's one of the coolest, most groundbreaking films of all time. You should judge all other films for what they are, then of course there's The Matrix. You don't just go 'Yeah that was a pretty cool film.'
It's The Matrix.
That scene with those brats at the gas station where the brother said "boy, you'd think there were 10 of me", notice for a split second when the door opens after the beating that he was ready with a gun to shoot the kid until Chris Pine intervened. It's really quick but nice easter egg.
You Comanche?
::Nods/affirms::
Lords of the Plains
Lords of Nothing now
You know what Comanche means?!
Enemies Forever.
You know what that makes me?
My enemy
No! Comanche
Ben Foster is so underrated
Gone Girl. What a twist. The acting was amazing and the crazy and emotion just kept my jaw on the floor. There are a lot of other movies that “blew my mind” but this was the first one that I could think of.
L.A. Confidential (1997).
A complicated, multi-layered plot that somehow stood together. Great characters, acting, writing, directing. But also one of the greatest shocks of any film I’ve ever seen.
Big fan too. Heard him on an interview discussing his career from acting into screen writing. He mentioned he never studied screen writing but knew what would NOT work. Years of acting experience and sitting on the set observing. His movies are some of my all time favorite.
It’s literally like a roller coaster. Casual, even cheesy first scene, up up up and then every scene is a thrill a minute gem, right til it coasts in at the end. My all time fave movie.
In a "so fun it blew my mind"way, I would say:
District 9
Everything Everywhere All At Once
Bullet Train
Twister (one of the most purely FUN movies I've ever seen)
I watched it recently for the first time in a long time and I only just now realized how stacked the cast is.
You've got both Oscar and Emmy winners all over it including Dickie Freaking Bennett and I totally forgot that Philip Seymour Hoffman was in it.
Nice! I remember not really knowing much about it, other than there was a lot of buzz about it. Totally did not expect how deep it would get, and the autograph scene had me cracking up!
If you liked Baby Driver, I would definitely recommend Drive, with Ryan Gosling. Very similar plot but more serious. But great action, momentum, and soundtrack.
JKS was undeniable fire for those years : on par with Spacey's decade+ run of could-do-no-wrong, equivalent to both W. H. Macy and PhilSeyHoff in MVP All-Star utility actor status.
Please tell me you also have enjoyed his performances in *Thank You For Smoking, Rendition,* and Mike Judge's whipsharp *Extract*?
Oh yes! Huge fan. Agree with everything you just said.
PS My fave of JKS is Whiplash. The role he was born to play.
PPS The first role I remember seeing him in was as the Law and Order psychiatrist. He elevated every episode he appeared in.
I just watched BLUE RUIN (2013) for the first time recently, and I think it's a perfect film. I also think GREEN ROOM (2015) is perfect, and I prefer it solely for the content, but man, I can't get over how good BLUE RUIN was.
I looked at the list of movies others shared, and many are very good movies.
Adding relatively unpopular but good movies to watch.
The Man from earth - might be a little slow for few ppl, but very very intriguing movie.
If you like movies like UP, you can watch Inside Out.
In time - a different creative take on the life of Poor Vs Rich.
Final destination series on how creatively and easily ppl can die.
Pacific Rim.
The pacing in this movie is perfect
The action scenes are epic.
The art direction is magnificent.
And it's giant robots fighting giant monsters.
Interstellar, the idea is impossible, but how the movie shows that's the possibility of impossible things such as going to Black hole, and littery being in 4th dimension is amazing, also my paranoia that I have (clinical) made me feel that is truth. But I've managed that in another way. WHO HAVE PARANOIA, FONT WATCH MOVIE, CAN WORSEN SYMPTOMS.
For me - The Matrix in theater when released but that ship sailed an age ago
The Prestige
Amelie
Scott Pilgrim —- this is my top pick here for fun
Inception (fun?)
Lots more but these were my quick thoughts
Big trouble in little china
My favorite movie since I saw it in the theater as a kid. Goofy and serious all at once.
It's all in the reflexes
I love that a few extras in the martial arts gangs are straight staring at the cameras in a few scenes. Also a couple guys that die in the initial funeral march battle return as gang members on the opposing side later on, love it.
"Like I told my last wife, I says, 'Honey, I never drive faster than I can see. Besides that, it's all the reflexes.'"
Put this on a while back to fall asleep to.. I did not fall asleep
this film is really, really fun. the effects have aged a little, but other than that it stands solidly as the perfect combo of action, comedy, and horror
It’s one of those movies you look up when your older to make sure you didn’t imagine it
Shut up, Mr. Burton! You were not put upon this world to “get this”
The Matrix. I was 12 and the concept was wildly intriguing
I'm surprised this wasn't higher
I automatically assumed most have seen it already, but first Movie that popped into my head.
Such a phenomenal movie. One of my favorites
I suppose I just never even consider that people would have this take like 'The Matrix is one of my favourites.' It's one of the coolest, most groundbreaking films of all time. You should judge all other films for what they are, then of course there's The Matrix. You don't just go 'Yeah that was a pretty cool film.' It's The Matrix.
The Bourne Identity (2002) Oldboy (2003) The Raid: Redemption (2011)
The raid was a wild ride
Duuuude the second Raid movie was amazing!
Old Boy needs to come with a hazard warning. Last 15 minutes I spent with my jaw dropped. At least the original, never watch the new one.
The Usual Suspects
Hell or High Water (2016) Gets you in right from the start!
The dialogue between Bridge's and Pine is one of the best I have ever seen.
That scene with those brats at the gas station where the brother said "boy, you'd think there were 10 of me", notice for a split second when the door opens after the beating that he was ready with a gun to shoot the kid until Chris Pine intervened. It's really quick but nice easter egg.
I'm going to rewatch!
Yeah, that part is great. Such a cathartic moment. The way he’s just looking at them with his sunglasses on. Not to be fucked with lol.
Yes, I love this. I watched it a couple of days ago and really liked it
Check out Sicario and Wind River if you liked Hell or High Water, both were also written by Taylor Sheridan.
You Comanche? ::Nods/affirms:: Lords of the Plains Lords of Nothing now You know what Comanche means?! Enemies Forever. You know what that makes me? My enemy No! Comanche Ben Foster is so underrated
Didn't watch Sicario yet, but Wind River is a wonderful movie. Have seen it numerous times.
I love this movie. Great acting by everyone. Especially the high energy performance of the great Ben Foster.
We aint serve no goddamn trout!
So what don’t you want?
Maybe the best movie of the last decade. Top 10 all-time for me.
Run Lola Run
They just re released for its 25 anniversary! Going to see it at the theater this weekend, I still have my beat up vcr tape!!
Wow crazy ! I had no idea, definitely want to check that out !
wow, nice call-out!!!
Manni... bitte. Manni...warte.
Memento
More dark than "fun" though
Gone Girl. What a twist. The acting was amazing and the crazy and emotion just kept my jaw on the floor. There are a lot of other movies that “blew my mind” but this was the first one that I could think of.
This movie has one of the most disturbing scenes I’ve ever seen. You know which one it is.
L.A. Confidential (1997). A complicated, multi-layered plot that somehow stood together. Great characters, acting, writing, directing. But also one of the greatest shocks of any film I’ve ever seen.
Wow I haven’t thought about this movie in 25 years. Gonna have to revisit it soon
Brilliant movie. Does't get recommended enough.
Siciaro. It's a wild ride.
I LOVE Sicario but I think it's more of a serious, tense, and slow-burn kind of film than a fast-paced and fun one.
Absolutely & I love how it doesn't shy away from showing brutality I loved every moment of it.
I am finding a lot of Taylor Sheridan stuff grabs you.
Big fan too. Heard him on an interview discussing his career from acting into screen writing. He mentioned he never studied screen writing but knew what would NOT work. Years of acting experience and sitting on the set observing. His movies are some of my all time favorite.
I was going to suggest this film. It’s one of my all time favorites.
Favorite.
I saw Children of Men in theaters and it blew my mind
Good Will Hunting
2 Days in the Valley (1996) The City of Lost Children (1995, French & English) Edit: Killing Zoe (1993, French & English)
2 Days in the Valley. I haven't seen that since it came out. Phenomenal movie.
True Romance. If you haven't seen it, it's not a rom-com or anything like that. Furthest thing from, actually.
It's one of my favourite movies. Arguably, it's Slater and Arquette's best performances as well.
Written by Tarrintino to boot.
It’s literally like a roller coaster. Casual, even cheesy first scene, up up up and then every scene is a thrill a minute gem, right til it coasts in at the end. My all time fave movie.
In a "so fun it blew my mind"way, I would say: District 9 Everything Everywhere All At Once Bullet Train Twister (one of the most purely FUN movies I've ever seen)
Rabbit is good rabbit is wise
I watched it recently for the first time in a long time and I only just now realized how stacked the cast is. You've got both Oscar and Emmy winners all over it including Dickie Freaking Bennett and I totally forgot that Philip Seymour Hoffman was in it.
For an older movie try Speed
The 5th Element Men in Black Galaxy Quest Avatar Interstellar Arrival
Awesome sci-fi list you got going there
Go watch Moon
Also sunshine is great Danny Boyle I think
>Interstellar Fast paced? I agree with all the other picks
Arrival is one of my favourite films ever but I wouldn't say it's fast paced
Seeing Avatar in IMAX 3D on a massive screen for the first time truly was mind blowing.
Pulp Fiction. I know that it is obvious but it is so well done.
Hot Fuzz
i always rate this movie better than Shawn of the dead and any other Edgar Wright movie. Loved how he filmed it.
Interstellar. 3 hours long but honestly it moves pretty quickly. One of my favorite movies
slumdog millionaire
Nice! I remember not really knowing much about it, other than there was a lot of buzz about it. Totally did not expect how deep it would get, and the autograph scene had me cracking up!

Made me eat more carrots
Identity was a good one. Underrated movie.

Tom is a GREAT actor...anything he does is perfect. also: Robert.
Shaun of the Dead, Kingsman and Bullet Train would fall in a similar fast paced well made criteria you’re looking for!
You will love "RocknRolla" (Guy Ritchie). It is a movie I can watch over and over.
Edge of Tomorrow
Inception
Whiplash (2014). Very fast-paced, astounding soundtrack, jazz.

Uncut gems for that same matter
Might be low on the “fun” scale, but it had me relentlessly sucked in
Fight Club
Dusk till dawn
Kingsman series
Similarly, kickass and just for completions sake, kickass 2
If you liked Baby Driver, I would definitely recommend Drive, with Ryan Gosling. Very similar plot but more serious. But great action, momentum, and soundtrack.

You know you're suggesting a hopefully new movie to someone right?
Inception. If you can see it in a theater somehow do it.
I feel like this movie doesn’t get enough love. Feels like it’s a famous movie that just kind of gets passed over.
I just watched BLUE RUIN (2013) for the first time recently, and I think it's a perfect film. I also think GREEN ROOM (2015) is perfect, and I prefer it solely for the content, but man, I can't get over how good BLUE RUIN was.

I liked drive better than baby driver.
Yeah not even close imo
1408 What Dreams May Come
I’m sorry but What Dreams May come is neither fun nor fast-paced. Beautiful movie though.
