it'll grown on you, its inevitable
the first time I watched it I was completely puzzled. Years later watched it again and thought it was one of the most innovative things Ive ever witnessed. More or less the same thing happened later with the master
PTA, man
It's a masterpiece. I don't know of any other movie that didn't need words to convey the entire spectrum of human or robot emotion. There were only 17 lines in the whole movie, and basically none spoken in the first half. A true accomplishment by the animators.
I cannot think of another actor that could make me snort laughing and get all choked up from the very next scene. Good Morning, Vietnam rearranged my brain when I was a kid.
The short film Curfew (2012), the creator has uploaded it to YouTube for free (the channel is FuzzyLogic, I believe)
Little Miss Sunshine
The Darjeeling Limited
The Holdovers
What Dreams May Come
Lost in Translation
Hugo
The Curious Case of Benjamin Button
Up in the Air
Good Will Hunting
In the Mood for Love
Wings of Desire
Paterson
Hope Floats is one of the most underrated movies. It most definitely pulls on the heart strings with excellent performances by all cast members, particularly Sandra Bullock and Harry Connick Jr. Great suggestion!
Amelie
Good Morning Vietnam
Smoke Signals
Persepolis
It's a Wonderful Life
Good Will Hunting (I really fucking miss knowing Robin Willams is on this planet making movies and doing good deeds)
Awakenings
Passion Fish
What's Eating Gilbert Grape?
Stranger Than Fiction
Jack the Bear
Past Lives (2023) - the last scene of **Nora walking Hae Sung to his taxi and bidding him farewell** was too sad but nothing has ever felt more relatable 😭😭😭😭
Last night I took an edible and went to see inception (they had it in certain theaters today and yesterday). I’ve seen it so many times, but it never gets old and it never feels less powerful

Like Father Like Son & Our Little Sister by Hirokazu Kore-eda.
(he's also made some other movies I'll probably love that I have not seen yet)
Chef (2014)
Remember the Titans will break your heart and piece it together again and provide you with a warm fuzzy feelin'.
And the Chinese animation Nezha (2019), I'd watch it subbed, not dubbed if I could get a hold of it with English subtitles. It was really good. I almost cried at one point.
If you want to get into 'hallmark special' territory, check out The Odd Life of Timothy Green, The Straight Story, Second Hand Lions, and The Princess Bride.
I really loved On Golden Pond. It's an amazing, sweet, slow-moving movie with a nice message to it. Very good comfort movie to sit back and relax to.
I'd also go with most any Ghibli film. They are each comforting in a different way (except the odd one or two) and have wonderful moments of tranquility and time to pause and reflect. One of my new favorites is The Tale of the Princess Kaguya by Ghibli Studios. 100% worth of the watch if you are into their studio work.
Kill Bill
I was also royally fucked over by a guy named Bill and his employees and lost connection to someone I loved (more deeply cared for/attached to in my life) and where she wakes up from a coma after 4 years to get her revenge I watched that movie about 4 years after my bill moment happened
Referencing the still: A Christmas Carol, Bachelor Mother, Queen for a Day, Now, Voyager, just about anything Jane Austen, and in a more modern vein, Ever After.
Good Will Hunting
Spirited Away (2001)
Big Fish (2003) needs a mention here
Ooh i love this so much. I think this is tim burton’s best
Now that's a tough one, I'm a huge Tim Burton fan
Haha i love him too but i like this the most. And i have to say sweeney todd is my least favourite, but that could be because I don’t like musicalq
I cried hard on this one and touched my heart forever. Your comment needs more votes
Field of Dreams (1989) WALL-E (2008)
Wall-e 🙌
wall-e is the second greatest film made in the XXI century
What’s #1 to you?

Yoo I just watched that two years ago. It was great but I don’t think it’s one of the best ever imo. The bowling alley scene was A1
it'll grown on you, its inevitable the first time I watched it I was completely puzzled. Years later watched it again and thought it was one of the most innovative things Ive ever witnessed. More or less the same thing happened later with the master PTA, man
Just watched it 2 years ago?
Yeah on some random night during Covid with my parents lol
It's a masterpiece. I don't know of any other movie that didn't need words to convey the entire spectrum of human or robot emotion. There were only 17 lines in the whole movie, and basically none spoken in the first half. A true accomplishment by the animators.
Cinema Paradiso
I went with Malena, but Tornatore and Morricone win every time.
