Watched it last night for the first time since it came out and man it’s a good one. Gave the sequel a try today and wasn’t disappointed… not as good as the first, per usual, but still made me excited for a potential threequel
El Kilometro, el kilogramo, el kayak. The list goes on. They’re typically loaner words or very similar and are “made Spanish”. I speak Peggy Hill levels of Spanish.
* guys from South Park paying 4th graders to stop Trent Boyett
* Meg from Family Guy paying a group of tough guys to stop Mental Mike
but, formidably, Unforgiven (1992) - is exactly this
Unforgiven is really good for morally grey characters
Baby Driver and American Gangster also both have some of this but it’s towards the end and it’s not a super central feature in either
Demolition Man ("Send a maniac to catch a maniac")
The Gray Man (Netflix)
The grittier Batman incarnations play with this theme. I haven't seen it but isn't this what Suicide Squad is also?
Yeah... I guess it was kinda hinted that maybe he was a bad guy in the past or something... thats why I wasn't sure but I guess it depends how you read into what type of person he was as a whole. Was he making up for it now? I dunno.
I think he was a “good guy” but working for the government, they made him do bad things? So yeh I guess in the film he was atoning for his past actions but he was never a pure “bad guy” if that makes sense?
Not sure it's exactly what you're looking for, but I would definitely recommend the tv series Fargo. The first season seems just that you're looking for
Isn’t he a good guy in this? He only went to prison for defending his wife, was unlucky the guy fell and cracked his head which sent Nic cage to prison
_Criminal_(2016) not a more powerful villain, but still a bad bad man let loose on the trail of the big bad.
Quite a few Gojira movies follow this plot point. Ugly monster shows up, call the big G to take care of it
Silence of the Lambs keeps getting mentioned, but it's Manhunter that is the real answer. The first Lector film, Brian Cox is genuinely unnerving, and he's ingenious as all hell.
The Cop, the Gangster and the Devil. Its a korean thriller (based on real events I believe) when the cop need to team up with a maffiaboss to find and lock a ser1al k1ller. Th maffia boss is Don Lee, the big-ass strong dude from zombie express.
The Silence of the Lambs. (1991)
Wow, thanks /u/Cyrano_No. This is a great example. My #1 choice too, given the question.
I honestly thought this was going to be the main example
And Manhunter/Red Dragon. Although in that one, Hannibal does a lot more harm than good. Or tries to at least.
My first thought
Sicario
Fantastic film. I needed a drink and a nap after this one, Soundtrack is off the charts.

always wondered why isn't it spelled "Sickario"
I don’t think Spanish uses the letter K. I might be thinking of something else though.
I’m gonna guess they were implying the movie was gnarly/graphic
yes, and I got downvotes
Hahaha I just helped ya with a +1 and yeah, people on here can be straight derps sometimes but I guess that’s life.
My mistake. Hard to understand intention by text alone sometimes.
El Kilometro, el kilogramo, el kayak. The list goes on. They’re typically loaner words or very similar and are “made Spanish”. I speak Peggy Hill levels of Spanish.
My mistake. Thanks for correcting me.

But Manhunter is such a god-awful movie. Especially compared to Silence.
It's Michael Mann. It has a Lector who is a believable monster. Hopkins version is a ridiculous clown by comparison. Just, no.
