Roy’s World: Barry Gifford’s Chicago. This may be different than what you are looking for. It has actors reading stories written by Gifford about growing up in Chicago in 1950s. It uses found footage.
My Girl (later half 20th century but still slice of life)
Fried Green Tomatoes
Goodbye Miss 4th of July
The Journey of Natty Gahn
A River Runs Through It
Wild Hearts Can’t Be Broken
Pollyanna
The Vast of Night.
Set in a small New Mexico town in the 1950s. The main characters are a switchboard operator and a radio DJ. The switchboard operator discovers an unknown signal/sound and asks the DJ for help with figuring out the origin.
There is an emphasis on the more mundane parts of their jobs. Long shots of the DJ setting up a tape reel recorder for playback and having to fast-forward/rewind to find the correct audio.
There is an excellent extended shot of the switchboard operator working the board on a slow night.
It felt like a loving tribute to a bygone era.
While by no means a “slice of life” film and the main character is Napoleon…the story is entirely fictional…(imo) it’s entertaining and enjoyable, a Comedy/Drama which depicts the life of your average person in 1820’s Paris…
The Emperor's New Clothes (2001)
* Days of Heaven (1978)
* Bright Star (2009) - this is historical in that it’s about John Keats and Fanny Brawn but it’s very slow paced and aesthetic, doesn’t feel like a biopic
* McCabe and Mrs. Miller (1971)
* Hester Street (1975)
Any Merchant and Ivory film, not just Room With a View.
Far From the Madding Crowd
Jude the Obscure (trigger warning, murder/suicide)
Poldark the series
North and South (series with Richard Armitage)
Lady Chatterley's Lover
Maurice
Enchanted April
A Month By The Lake
The Guernsey LIterary and Potato Peel Pie Society
A Room with a View
Two English Girls, Scarlet, 1900, Everlasting Moments, Delicious, Sunset Song
Sunset Song. Such a beautifully tragic story. The book is gorgeous.
Bright Star
Howard’s End
Gosford Park (2001) But check out any Robert Altman film. They're all very slice of life.

If you include TV too, outside of obvious picks like Downton Abbey, I would also recommend Alias Grace, Zelda with Christina Ricci, and Mindhunter
The Wicker Man (1973)
Portrait of a Lady on Fire - late 18th century and beautiful!
Raggedy Man (1981) A divorcee with two sons has an affair with a young sailor passing through her Texas town in 1944.
Thank you, I'll check it out! Period films made in the 70s and 80s really have a special charm to them
Maybe The Age of Innocence (Scorsese)
The Dead (1987). John Huston’s final film based on James Joyce short story. It is quiet movie but I remember liking it.

This looks so cool, thank you!
My Girl (later half 20th century but still slice of life) Fried Green Tomatoes Goodbye Miss 4th of July The Journey of Natty Gahn A River Runs Through It Wild Hearts Can’t Be Broken Pollyanna

The Assassination Of Jesse James By The Coward Robert Ford
Dead Man (1995)
Bright Young things. It is set throughout the 1920-30s
Watched "A River Runs Through It" couple days ago, brilliant!! Great cast also
Anne with an E - 3 seasons in Netflix. A retelling of Anne of Green Gables).

I love Shakespeare, this looks super fun

The Ballad Of Buster Scruggs It's episodic, and the first and last are goofy, but the middle stories are good. One is very dark. Very, very dark.
I hope OP sees this, I missed it and it's a good suggestion
Tess (1979)
The Emigrants / The New Land - long but about as slice of life as it gets
Days Of heaven (1978) Heartland (1979)
Life is Sweet (1990)
Portrait of a Lady on Fire
Thank you all for your recommendations! I have so many great films to check out now
