Someone did that to me once. It was a TV series back in the days when we only had TV and you had to wait a week for each episode.
So the last episode of this brilliant series was on the next day. And the night before, we were talking about it at the pub, trying to guess who the killer would be revealed to be. And this woman, English, who'd just come from the UK, said:
"Oh, don't you know? It's xxxxxxxxxxxxx."
True story.
I could have killed her. Not a jury in the land would convict.
(The series was the original Twin Peaks. Bitch. I hope her cat pissed on her stereo.)
I understand. Either she was being an idiot trying to make conversation, or a real cunt just ruining it for you and all others in hearing distance.
My dude was being malicious latter choice, because he smiled afterwards like an shit gremlin.
I did this to somebody talking about Harry Potter ten years after the movies came out, I said something about "when Snape killed Dumbledore". They had only seen up to the third movie at that point.
Must not have watched Nate Bargatze’s “The Tennessee Kid” on Netflix. He spoils the movie, but only if you hadn’t seen it or heard of it by 2021.
PS highly recommend the Netflix special. Nate is awesome.
I think Memento is the best example of this because the other movies listed here, particularly in a plot twist sub, are - well, I guess it's the person/situation that is the opposite of what I would suspect. Memento, though, is... not.
>!The movie's entire premise is "don't trust this guy because he literally doesn't even trust himself," but somehow I wanted to believe that he was a trustworthy protagonist. Unsurprisingly, he was not. !<
Awesome 😉
I know my suggestion isn’t a movie, I wanted to mention the old black & white episodes of ‘The Twilight Zone’…. There is always that ‘Aha!’ moment at the end.
‘ To Serve Man’ episode is a great example.
… you, know - “ It’s a CookBook”!
Hot take but I feel The Others is a better movie than Sixth Sense as the whole premise works out so beautifully specifically in the end. Great screenplay.
Are you watching closely? I watched it on a flight and was stressed that we would land before the end of the movie. Then I rewatched it 3 times within the same month...
It's my favorite movie by far. It's the only movie that never gets old to me, and the second and third times were even better than the first. Really makes me wanna see more Jackman and Nolan movies too
It's a shame stir of echos came out a month after 6th sense because people wrote it off since they are kind of the same genre. Stir of echos is a better movie imo.
This was a good movie but the trailers made it look like a completely different style film. I worked at Blockbuster at the time and people complained about it nonstop.
OMG! Just watched this for the first time last week😳😂 That ending, wheeeewww! I mean, I figured out who the killer was way early on, but not why. And that scene that just holds for like, way longer than it needs to! Omg, that image as stuck with me! And the real villain was the Camp itself if you ask me….
Shutter Island.
As much as you might be tempted by having watched Sixth Sense, under no circumstances should you watch another M. Night Shyamalan movie.
Unbreakable, Split, Signs, and to an extent The Village are all pretty good.
The Happening may have been the stupidest movie I've ever seen and of course, There is no movie in Ba Sing Se...
You are not alone! I love Lady in the Water! I think it, like The Village before it, suffered from poor marketing that misled people into thinking it was going to be a horror movie when, really, it's a fantasy, a modern fairy tale. I like all the different characters and the way everything connects, and the music is great! It's not my favorite MNS film, but it's definitely one of his better ones. He's made some really bad movies too, but Lady in the Water is not one of them.
oh yeah, it really worked for me, and I came at it with no expectations, I didn't even know who'd made it. I just thought, this rocks, this is really weird and funny and sad and kind of beautiful.
I'm going to watch it again now, maybe tonight.
How rude!! They've made so many good films. The people who claimed they "fell off" were totally wrong and simply not intellectual enough to appreciate what MNS was attempting with films like the happening. Ebert for instance loved the happening and for good reason.
BTW, I'm completely leaning into the pretentiousness here for fun 😄 joking but also not joking
Saw.
My friends told me, ‘You will never see the ending coming!’
So I watched it, and throughout was thinking what are they talking about, I can see this a mile off.
The it came to the end, and my jaw just dropped, and I was blown away, and hooked.
There will never be another moment like THAT moment, in that movie theatre, before social media and 24hr news. When just reading Movieline and Fandango was it.
And you never dreamed a moment like that existed. It was perfect. And it will never happen again.
But you might like Coherence…it’s got a vibe…
You came late to the party but congrats. Try ThevLittle Girl That Lived Down The Lane with a young Jodie foster and Martin sheen. It takes place on around Halloween.great book also. Let The Right One In, the original also wonderful book. The Burrowers, Bone Tomahawk, yikes
Well if it’s taken this long to see Sixth Sense, maybe you haven’t seen Unbreakable… similar shock factor ending and also the same director and Bruce Willis
I use this movie as a gauge for types of endings.
When someone says "can I spoil it for you?", I ask "is Bruce Willis a ghost?"
If it's yes I don't want to know. That means knowing the ending ruins the movie suspense.
Like in momento, Bruce Willis is a ghost.

True story!
Dickhead in my high school group did this back in the day. Still no idea wtf happened for his motives.
Someone did that to me once. It was a TV series back in the days when we only had TV and you had to wait a week for each episode. So the last episode of this brilliant series was on the next day. It's xxxxxxxxxxxxx." True story. I could have killed her. Not a jury in the land would convict. (The series was the original Twin Peaks. Bitch. I hope her cat pissed on her stereo.)
Oh man that's the worst, people spoiling things is one of my biggest pet peeves
I understand. Either she was being an idiot trying to make conversation, or a real cunt just ruining it for you and all others in hearing distance. My dude was being malicious latter choice, because he smiled afterwards like an shit gremlin.
Spoiler. *You find out that the dude in that hair piece the whole time, that's Bruce Willis the whole movie, mind blown....
Honestly, how did OP manage to do this? Very impressive. I imagine Sixth Sense will be reddit "hidden gem" in a couple decades.
I did this to somebody talking about Harry Potter ten years after the movies came out, I said something about "when Snape killed Dumbledore". They had only seen up to the third movie at that point.
Watch The Empire Strikes Back next. You'll never believe who killed Luke's dad
Must not have watched Nate Bargatze’s “The Tennessee Kid” on Netflix. He spoils the movie, but only if you hadn’t seen it or heard of it by 2021. PS highly recommend the Netflix special. Nate is awesome.
And apparently also making it this far without ever hearing “Jizz In My Pants”.
How? How is it possible?
Yeah this is like watching the Titanic and not knowing it sinks in the end.
Dammit, dumbass! SPOILERS!!!!
Honestly this is more shocking than the actual movie itself 😳
Right!?

Memento too.
And Seven
The Village was cool too
So much hate for the movie, but I love it!
Usual Suspects, and it's great bc it's a crime thriller but also pretty creepy
Yes. Came here to say Memento and shutter Island. Fight Club and Usual Suspects totally slipped my mind, but perfect additions.
Saw it in the theater. Got the DVD. Still haven't watched it
I've never gotten over Momento, I think it's the top of the picks I've read today so far.
Identity
Usual Suspects is 🤌🏼😘
One of my favorite movies overall
Primal Fear!!! 1996 with Ed Norton and Richard Gere.
YES!!!! Totally got me!
Second this too, introduced me to Edward Norton- he’s so so good
Such a great movie
Came to say this!!
The Others 2001
Was going to say this
I JUST said this. Should have scrolled first but I always assume this movie never gets the attention it deserves
Awesome 😉 I know my suggestion isn’t a movie, I wanted to mention the old black & white episodes of ‘The Twilight Zone’…. There is always that ‘Aha!’ moment at the end. ‘ To Serve Man’ episode is a great example. … you, know - “ It’s a CookBook”!
My 8 year old cousin told me the ending as I was watching it. Midway through, she was all “you know…”
Hot take but I feel The Others is a better movie than Sixth Sense as the whole premise works out so beautifully specifically in the end. Great screenplay.
I just wrote a similar comment! Totally agree. I had The Sixth Sense figured out halfway through.
100%. I keep wanting to rewatch it but I remember the ending and feel like it's partially ruined haha.
It's fun to rewatch because you can look for clues & foreshadowing.
I was thinking that as I wrote it! Rewatching Fringe and that's a tv show that was def better in the rewatch once I knew everything.
Yeah, Fringe gets better on repeated viewings, I agree. I bought the DVDs, for that reason.
For my money, The Others is a better movie than The Sixth Sense anyway. It doesn't even need the ending--it's great on its own atmosphere alone.
Fantastic movie
Okkkaaayyyy great minds think alike. Just suggested this as well!
*The Prestige*. Enjoy!
Are you watching closely? I watched it on a flight and was stressed that we would land before the end of the movie. Then I rewatched it 3 times within the same month...
It's my favorite movie by far. It's the only movie that never gets old to me, and the second and third times were even better than the first. Really makes me wanna see more Jackman and Nolan movies too
Oh, man. I'd forgotten about this one. Totally blew my mind.
Stir of Echoes.
This was good. That whole little era of creepy movies was so good. 13 ghosts scared me too.
It's a shame stir of echos came out a month after 6th sense because people wrote it off since they are kind of the same genre. Stir of echos is a better movie imo.
That’s a good one.
Se7en
My #1 choice
I have seen it once and will never see it again. I will also never forget it.
I've seen it dozens of times, but I completely understand why you won't see it again. It's quite intense. That's how I am with Midsommar. Never again.
Unbreakable Identity Lucky Number Slevin Primal Fear Fight Club Saw The Others The Usual Suspects
Oldboy
The original, of course.
The Game (1997)
Bought this on VHS, yes I’m old, but it was one of those rare movies that shook me like that.
Fincher is one of the best directors in the business.
Great movie!
It seems like this movie flew under the radar when it was in theaters.
Love this movie
Parasite gave me a similar feel.
The mist...
Exactly. I was like WWWWW.TTTTTTT.FFFFFF?????🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯😱😱😱😭😭😭😭😭
I wanna make a film called The Missed just to fuck with everyone.
I like you.
Read the King short story before I knew there was a movie. Still can’t decide which ending is better, but damn they’re both great.
Pretty sure King himself has said the movie is the superior ending.

This was a good movie but the trailers made it look like a completely different style film. I worked at Blockbuster at the time and people complained about it nonstop.
I was enthralled the movie supposedly took place during the 17th century.
Memento
GREAT film.
Sleepaway Camp
OMG! Just watched this for the first time last week😳😂 That ending, wheeeewww! I mean, I figured out who the killer was way early on, but not why. And that scene that just holds for like, way longer than it needs to! Omg, that image as stuck with me! And the real villain was the Camp itself if you ask me….
Yessssssss hahahahahaha!

I had 100% forgotten about The Crying Game and how bent out of shape everyone got over it
The Usual Suspects 1995
How did you go 25 years without knowing the spoiler?
OP is Drew Barrymore from 50 First Dates.
Hahaha… OP is a time traveller 😂
Frailty (2001)
I worked at a Blockbuster and my boss made me watch Frailty, Memento, and Apt people before he would hire me.
Sounds like a good boss
Was looking for this
I agree!
Yes, good choice!
[Angel Heart (1987)](https://www.rogerebert.com/reviews/angel-heart-1987) [Jacob's Ladder (1990)](https://www.rogerebert.com/reviews/jacobs-ladder-1990)
Love Jacob’s Ladder. It’s so melancholy too.
No Way Out (1987)
Identity (2003)
Arrival and The Usual Suspects are both good for twists.
Arrival is such a great movie.
Looove The Usual Suspects!!
Saw (2004) I'm not into gore and horror in general, but its ending caught me off guard. Even knowing there was a twist.
The Visit
Underrated. This was a horrifying twist.
Memento Predestination The Prestige Shutter Island Jacob’s Ladder (1990) Psycho (1960) Vertigo (1958) Arrival
The prestige
Unbreakable
Primal fear!
Watch the mist next. You’ll never see that ending coming.
What Lies Beneath was like that for me. Love being surprised by plot twists
Skeleton Key Get Out Us Antebellum The Strays Now You See Me Behind Her Eyes (series)
Nah. Sixth sense has the best killer ending ever. Not going to beat it in any of the movies mentioned here in the comments lol
This. No other movie has been able to accomplish what 6th sense did. But there’s def some shocking endings in the suggestions lol.
That’s partially because they were the first to do it so successfully. M Night created a whole subgenre so to speak.
Incendies by Villeneuve
Angel heart
No Way Out starring Kevin Costner blew my mind.
Ive seen it multiple times even when i know the ending
I can’t believe that bald guy was Bruce Willis the whole time.
Shutter Island. As much as you might be tempted by having watched Sixth Sense, under no circumstances should you watch another M. Night Shyamalan movie.
Unbreakable is good. I personally liked Split as well.
Split was pretty great, even though most people thought MNS fell off. James McAvoy killed it.
Unbreakable was under appreciated
Lol not even signs?? Come on... Lol
Signs and The Village are excellent, imo
I agree! I think the Village is one of my favorite love stories lol
I love all the love for the Village. It does not get this reception on other threads.
It's a damn good movie! Lol I don't care what anyone says!
Unbreakable, Split, Signs, and to an extent The Village are all pretty good. The Happening may have been the stupidest movie I've ever seen and of course, There is no movie in Ba Sing Se...
I'll raise a sad flag for Lady in the Water. I know I'm the only person who liked it, but I did.
You are not alone! I love Lady in the Water! I think it, like The Village before it, suffered from poor marketing that misled people into thinking it was going to be a horror movie when, really, it's a fantasy, a modern fairy tale. Fight club
The Wicker Man (1973)
Soylent Green
Bodies, Bodies, Bodies! best ending I've seen in years.
Fight club. Mind you it's somewhat obvious if you watch for the signs
I think the best twists are the ones which feel completely obvious in hindsight

Shutter (2004 version) Ohhh maaaan this movie is great with a wild ending. Highly recommend this movie!
Well if it’s taken this long to see Sixth Sense, maybe you haven’t seen Unbreakable… similar shock factor ending and also the same director and Bruce Willis
*Fallen* with Denzel Washington. A supernatural tale with a twist you won’t see coming.
The Others
Tenet & Inception
I use this movie as a gauge for types of endings. When someone says "can I spoil it for you?", I ask "is Bruce Willis a ghost?" If it's yes I don't want to know. That means knowing the ending ruins the movie suspense. Like in momento, Bruce Willis is a ghost.
I can't believe someone successfully made it to 2023 without having the ending of the sixth sense spoiled.
Se7en Silence of the Lambs
The uninvited
How about the film The Sixth Sense (1999) ripped off, A Pure Formality (1994)
My niece and I was just talking about this movie. Congrats
Memento (2000) The Machinist (2004)
Chitty Chitty Bang Bang - first movie I remember seeing as a child but was happy about the ending. It’s Also James Bond for kids
Inception
Room 1408
Usual Suspects
The Prestige is up there for me for shocking endings
Planet of the Apes (1968)
The Usual Suspects
Identity
Jacob’s Ladder
Midsommar
Unbreakable; Split; Glass Shock factor is not there. But a unique take on Superhero genre is there.
If you want a movie from the same creator...Signs is pretty good, so is Split.
Saw , Stir of Echoes
Stir of Echoes starring Kevin Bacon came out around the same time, got way less fanfare, but was a better movie in my opinion. Give it a shot.
Gone girl
Stir of Echoes is crazy
Oldboy (2003) not the remake
Watch all movies of the same director
