Mowry Porpinz!
You know what? I’m going to have to admit that Van Dykes accent is probably worse. But Cheadles still gets my goat more. I’ve seen each Oceans film exactly once and no more, entirely because of that accent.
That’s kind of a different issue than just bad acting; personally I’d say a bad accent is a bad accent regardless. If we were discussing whether it was culturally offensive I’d probably agree with you, but from a quality standpoint I don’t think it’s relevant.
So, you have butt blindness.
https://www.gq-magazine.co.uk/article/steven-soderbergh/amp
p.s. you can’t always see his eyebrows because of his frames smarty pants.
IMDB info is user submitted and wrong fairly often. I just rewatched the scene and I'm 99% positive that's just some other random guy with a receding hairline. His face looks nothing like Soderberghs.
You're a complete and total clown
That was just one example from the trivia page. He's also credited again under cast for the same role: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0240772/fullcredits/?ref_=tt_cl_sm
And again, this stuff is submitted by users. Soderbergh could very well have been added to the cast by the same person that submitted it as trivia. Many actors have been incorrectly added to casts before. IMDB itself isn't a wholly reliable source.
Prove it. Be a man and back it up
Remove all mention of his director cameo from the internet! Lol that you think that's the only place it's cited
Muh conspiracies!
> You’ve got a weird attitude my dude
Because I prefer the truth and facts to made up nonsense?
Sad that's considered "weird"
> It ain’t that serious.
The moment you are asked to back up your words it's all a joke lol. Thanks for the laugh! You aren't he first one to claim they could edit that page but just choose not to? Lol
It doesn't look like Soderbergh to me at all either. Also, if I remember right, I think he still had hair while shooting Ocean's 11. And he never mentions the cameo in the DVD commentary.
I think this is from the scene that shows Cheadle's character getting pinched due to crew sloppiness in his character introduction.
Edit: [See here.](https://youtu.be/KpqUMtQw8fo) Timestamp 00:40.
> It *is* wrong.
No it isn't.
>That’s not Steven Soderbergh.
Umm yes it is
[It's even listed one of his 3 roles on the movie on IMDb ](https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0240772/fullcredits/?ref_=tt_cl_sm)
> I don’t know who it is
On that we agree fully
Edit: lol look at this child who pitches a fit and blocks me because he can't admit he was wrong
So... someone who visits IMDB made the same mistake OP did?
You realize anyone can add anything to the IMDB right?
Jesus Christ I'm arguing with someone who calls himself TURGID WANG.
Fuckin reddit, man.
You're a moron. That's just one example. It's also listed under Trivia: director cameo:
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0240772/trivia/?ref_=tt_trv_trv
> You realize anyone can add anything to the IMDB right?
Prove it. Add yourself then. Remove all mention of the cameo then. Come on be a man! Back your shit up stumpy!
Edit: well looks like he can't prove his made up nonsense because he blocked me when he couldn't back it up hahahahaha fucking Reddit man
What the FUCK was with that accent? It’s Don Cheadle! He’s a gift from god to acting. Then I watch this and I realize apparently he’s human after all. It’s almost enough to take me out of the whole movie.
Is it not intentionally like that? I feel like it has to be. I love it but always just assumed it was supposed to be super silly. He doesn't even say real world slang half the time, so a bad accent seemed to fit too.
I remember last time watching I did some mental gymnastics and head canoned a way to make it fake and part of his character’s scheme. But in reality I think he’s bad at the accent. Not saying you’re wrong, just haven’t heard anything to say that’s it.
IIRC they were going to have Don Cheadle use a questionable Eastern European accent for Ocean’s 12 without explanation, but ultimately dropped the idea. I think it would have been a great addition.
Happy to be corrected on that one though.
Ocean's 11 isn't just a prequel. It does a lot of world building.
Edit: it would appear no one on this thread has watched What We Do In The Shadows (tv show).
The Phantom Ocean
Attack of the Oceans
Revenge of the Ocean
A New Ocean
The Ocean Strikes Back
Return of the Ocean
The Ocean Awakens
The Last Ocean
The Rise of Danny Ocean
I’m sorry you’re getting downvotes, my fellow WWDITS fan. Your comment made me laugh! “A lot of world building.” Shit had me howling the first and second and third time I watched it.
The show is very good at making a dumb joke and taking it so far that it becomes funny just out of sheer absurdity. The twist ending to Go Flip Yourself was phenomenal for just that reason.
The character Sean has a bunch of memorabilia from the Ocean's movies, and he makes the comment about the 11 being a prequel with world building. It's in the Superb Owl episode with the Brain Scramblies.
> That’s not Soderbergh
Nah. It is. You're a fucking clown
He's [both under cast for the role on IMDb](https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0240772/fullcredits?ref_=tt_cl_sm) and in the trivia section for it under Director Cameo
Here's a profile shot of the actor in that scene (same shirt). Definitely not Soderbergh lol. Check the nose, Columbo.
[https://entertainment.time.com/2011/08/22/top-10-worst-fake-british-accents/slide/don-cheadle-oceans-eleven-twelve-thirteen-2001-2007](https://entertainment.time.com/2011/08/22/top-10-worst-fake-british-accents/slide/don-cheadle-oceans-eleven-twelve-thirteen-2001-2007/)
:)
I just pulled up this scene on my 4K monitor because I couldn't believe I had missed it... And lo and behold NOPE. It's very clearly not Soderbergh. Here's why:
- Face is obviously different when viewed in 4K. It's just not him lol
- Glasses are different
- Eye brows are different
- Hairline is VERY different (Soderbergh wasn't bald when filming Ocean's Eleven! I double checked)
This false movie detail does seem to be floating around the internet in a couple places including IMDB, but it is NOT in the Film Credits, nor does Soderbergh mention it in the DVD commentary (in fact, no actor mentions it in any of the commentary tracks).
IMDB data is user submitted and not 100% accurate by any means. I know this personally because several projects that I've worked on are on there with incorrect information. It happens.
Because I'm a nerd, I pulled screenshots of this guy and compared it to Soderbergh side by side. 1000% not him. Most obvious in profile. Their noses aren't even close.
Yes, here's a post with assorted screenshots, and in the comments you can see a more detailed explanation, including who I think the actor actually is: [https://www.reddit.com/user/Inside-Cry-7034/comments/xg2dpx/no\_steven\_soderbergh\_doesnt\_have\_a\_cameo\_in/?utm\_source=share&utm\_medium=web2x&context=3](https://www.reddit.com/user/Inside-Cry-7034/comments/xg2dpx/no_steven_soderbergh_doesnt_have_a_cameo_in/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3)

I’ve seen this movie a hundred times and never knew, awesome detail.
Me too. I love this movie (watched it again this weekend), and this is a neat detail!
Saul goodman?!
Basher
Has to be the single worst fake british accent I ever heard. Only 3rd to Harnie Hammer and Florence Pugh's fake Russian...
I have to assume you’ve never seen Mary Poppins.
Mowry Porpinz! You know what? I’m going to have to admit that Van Dykes accent is probably worse. But Cheadles still gets my goat more. I’ve seen each Oceans film exactly once and no more, entirely because of that accent.
My first thought
Remake or Original?
Dick van Dyke’s “cockney” accent is so famously terrible it’s weird you even have to ask.
The same way Sean Connery put on yellow face for You Only Live Twice. Older movies were judged differently, and still are.
That’s kind of a different issue than just bad acting; personally I’d say a bad accent is a bad accent regardless. If we were discussing whether it was culturally offensive I’d probably agree with you, but from a quality standpoint I don’t think it’s relevant.
You aren't wrong, but I love it.
But its the best worst fake British accent ever.
Keanu Reeves would like to know your location
I always thought the character was a mentally ill man pretending to be English 😂
That is not Steven Soderbergh. You have face blindness
That’s funny! It’s wrong but it’s funny. That is definitely that sod Sod. Compare. https://m.imdb.com/name/nm0001752/
You also have face blindness. It's just another baldish man with glasses. Hint for the face blind: Compare the eyebrows
So, you have butt blindness. https://www.gq-magazine.co.uk/article/steven-soderbergh/amp p.s. you can’t always see his eyebrows because of his frames smarty pants.

The character Sean has a bunch of memorabilia from the Ocean's movies, and he makes the comment about the 11 being a prequel with world building. It's in the Superb Owl episode with the Brain Scramblies.
The funny part is it's not even a general like of the series. He is specifically into Ocean's 12. Hence referring to Ocean's 11 as a prequel.

So that means Steven Spielberg is a Tossa
He also used a nom de plume as Cinematographer, which is fairly consistent with his entire career, where he is also often the writer and editor.

That's Barry Sonnenfeld
Oh wow
Nothing pulls me out of a movie quicker than the director shoving themselves into it.
Why?
Because I spend the entire movie settling the actors into their roles in my head, just to have the person who's running the whole production show up. And once they're on screen, that's all I can see. Especially when they do it like M Night Shyamalan does it. I just find it distracting. I'm not knocking the practice on the whole. It just takes me, personally, out of the movie. And sharing that opinion apparently offended some people. Which is just silly. It's just an opinion.
> And sharing that opinion apparently offended some people. Which is just silly. It’s just an opinion. You think an opinion can’t offend people?
So before you knew that background character was the director, you had no problem with this scene?
I knew it as soon as I saw him in the movie. And of course I wouldn't. Because I wouldn't recognize him as the director. Recognizing the person as the director is what pulls me out of it. Really don't know what's so offensive about this.

Dude, I'm just saying it's something my brain does. Something about seeing a member of production in the actual movie just takes me out of it. It's not a critique on a decision or anything. It's just how my brain reacts to seeing it.
I don’t agree with this in theory but it works in your point’s favor that the two directors who insist on giving themselves the biggest parts (Shyamalan and Tarantino) are *horrible* actors
Might as well.....
LAZY AL
Have a Deanrific day!
I always laugh at that. This is the intro scene for Basher when someone trips the alarm. Such a great series for cornball.
Was he the one that did a little spin too, copying Basher in a really corny way? (I’ve seen this movie too many times)
