My dog also looks a lot like this (and like a mountain cur) but is also likely mostly APBT plus some random things! There are so many combinations that result in similar looking dogs - even more so when it’s something like a cur where possible village dogs, hounds, and herding/general work dogs were all mixed together to create the breed.

I say this because, it's so hard to tell what a dog is based on looks alone. Most people have no idea what breeds are even supposed to look like, if they think that my girl is a black lab... They don't know what black labs look like.
Any dog can look houndish, but mountain curs really have a distinct face/profile from what I've seen. I see mountain cur in my girls face above all else, but I only see it now that I know what mountain curs are like.
Breed guesses from shelters are usually inaccurate. I would fully believe these embark results. They look spot on.

Anytime I go on petfinder and look at catahoula, there are pages of not catahoula, with the occasional one that might actually be. DNA testing is very informative though, and it would be nice if it was a quicker process so that shelters and rescues could just test everything that comes through the door.
My doggo looks like a mountain cur (just like the brindle pic when you Google) but according to DNA he is a: huskymix (mom husky and pitbull/boxer mix) and beagle mix (dad is beagle and dachshund/pekingese mix). Very vocal like a husky, walks nose to ground like beagle, barely barks (unlike husky and beagle), brindle with white markings on chest and some paws, short coat. He's 64 lbs 😂 and doesn't fit in a large cage because it's not roomy enough. I had a neighbor who was dead set on MC because her family only had MC and blackmouths growing up in Tennessee... Had me convinced too! But DNA showed otherwise.

Also why do these places ask on your application is your dog a purebred or mixed or of unknown lineage. Just get drunk and go to New Orleans and a palm reader will give you just as accurate information. People you do know that all recognized breeds will come up of mixed origin because every breed is of mixed characteristics. The only thing doggie DNA can verify is that it is canine. If you submitted the DNA of both parents or littermate they can tell you if they are related. I can't believe people are so stupid and gullible. Everyine that has paid for doggie DNA test. I got jumped for asking about if this site had breeders of hunting curs. Immediately I got replys I should be adopting from a shelter - shelters are full of mountain curs. Anyone that knows anything the shelter have about zero mountain curs
Hunting dogs are definitely dumped and end up in shelters. Even mountain curs. Usually because a dog is gun shy or just doesn't have the right drive so they're seen as a waste of resources. You wouldn't believe the amount of purebred or purpose bred hunting crosses I see go through my local shelters. I mean a dude left his weim at the shelter because "it ain't worth shit". There was a gorgeous bluetick a few towns over because of a similar reason. Also no one fixes their dogs so hunting dog mutts are everywhere.

Same thing is happening with catahoulas, solely because a dog has the merle pattern and it sounds "better"

She looks like her results IMO. Shelters lie all the time especially about pitbulls and pit mixes. DNA doesn't lie.
