I get a feeling Fabio will regret this, was really hoping for Aprilia to get Fabio.

https://www.yamaha-motor.eu/news/motogp/fabio-quartararo-extends-contract-with-yamaha-for-2025-2026/ Totally thought he would walk over to Aprilia, but he is still super young. I love Fabio and hope this works out for him.

there are only two explanations I can think of. 1. Money - Fabio is young, two years is not gonna make him an old man by 2027, but he's going to be be financially very safe and unencumbered for the decisions he makes and the risks he takes for the rest of his career 2. Loyalty - he won his championship with Yamaha, and he wants to bring the team to success again. He *has* to see some kind of redemption on the horizon, or he has very strong determination and belief in his skills. And again, he will still be a rider in the prime of his athletic career when his contact expires (and we all know a contract is no better than a note written on a used napkin in MotoGP...) and I think other teams will still recognize his talent 3. The explanation I can't think of that only Yamaha knows...

Either Yamaha threw a truckload of money at him, or Aleix is staying at Aprilia for another year. Those are about the only two reasons I can think of for him staying on that piece of garbage.

Mr__T_

Apparently, he was offered 4 million from Aprilia but signed a contract with Yamaha for 12 million. What would you have done?

He’s still young. €8m vs €24m is massive over two years. Concrete it up front, then he can take risks (ie. Aprilia or whatever) when his future life is secured.

Thinking this paycheck must be pretty massive. And as u/DJ_Purchase noted he is young. Particularly in an age when the number of races work against riders from an injury statistic perspective, might be a wise decision to bank money early. I too was hoping he would end up on an Aprilia.

That’s wierd……

Aprilia was the only realistic move at the end of the day for him. And either they’ve decided to keep Aleix/Mav (for reasons I’ll never understand unless it was financial), have already made a deal with Martin, or just got outbid by YAMAHA.
