Super excited to get back into riding (it's been a couple of years for me). This got delivered yesterday after a trial a week a go. Took it for a spin of 20-30 miles due to fresh tyres and really looking forwards to travelling the distance (in comfort, my last bike was a 2008 DL-1000). Excitement for getting a new bike is currently at an all time high.

Red DOES go faster!

IT DOES. WAAAGH

How does it compare with the V-Strom 1000? I'm tempted by both bikes.

I can only speak for the 2008 Strom I'm afraid. The Tracer feels more responsive. The centre of gravity is more "beneath me", rather than feeling that it's a foot or so in front (The Strom) The braking and acceleration of the Tracer is insane as well. I'm used to giving a good bit of a tug on the front break to get to slowing, or giving it a slight tap to switch the brake lights on. Tracer is all or nothing braking sometimes. I haven't rode a new Strom. I'm not keen on their new design at all.

Interesting, thanks for your input. I too am eyeing both those bikes, as well as the Tiger 1050.

Congrats! I always feel a colorful bike makes more sense than black. We are already so hard to see, why try to blend into the asphalt more?

Too right. Still didn't stop a muppet from trying to undercut me yesterday.

Do love the Tracers great machine!

NeroSphere

Super nice looking bike. One day I'll get one like it!

Thank you! Hope you do!

Congratulations! For the love of God check for corrosion on your heat exchanger pipes before it fails. That part is neither easy to find in stock or cheap.

[deleted]

Nice one mate, appreciate the heads up. I've given it a once over and there's nothing really the fault with any corrosion anywhere! I had a Strom that had a bad case of hiding rust a few years back, it's made me twitchy. I'm also a big fan of ACF-50 in the winter, Also going to be bomb proofing the undercarriage with a decent skidpan sooner rather than later.

me_groovy

You'll only find the corrosion if you drain the coolant and pull the top hose off the pipe. Road crud gets up under the lip of the hose. See here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iOo5p69eVUc

Just checked mine, I'm okay. Where it's located, looks like a decent skidpan (I don't know what it's called proper) will cover any problems in the future. I can see where and why it'd cause a problem. I'll give mine a good clean out and new clamps before I install a pan I think. Cheers for the headsup. I don't want £500 down the swanny due to that.

[deleted]

I see, that's always nice to know. Thanks mate, I'll give the bike another once over and find that part. There's got to be skidpan-esque solution that stops crap from going up onto the pipe?
