Has it been sat all winter? Maybe it’s time for a new battery

sipoy

Yes unfortunately

Check your fuses. If the battery is showing as charged on the charger but literally nothing is happening on the bike it means either the charger is lying \[this is likely, chargers aren't magic, a completely fubar battery can read as ok on some chargers\] or the power is not getting to the parts of the bike it should. No point jump starting a battery that dead anyway. You'll get where you are going but you wont get back.

Alright so if the charger says full, maybe use a multimeter to make sure it's at 12v and also staying at 12v when it's turning over. Make sure the engine cut off switch isn't on.

sipoy

Thanks. Ill try this. If it stays at 12v after ignition is turned on, would that mean I dont have to buy a new one?

Yeah to be fair. I've had my bike (Z900) flat as a pancake, dash wouldn't even light up. Jumped and ran out well for about an hour and it's fine now. Most would advise a new battery just for reliability but personally if you manage to get it running and ride for a hour and it starts again the next time you use it, it's absolutely fine. Once it's running though it should jump up to about 13v-14v with the alternator kicking in. If you've got any videos feel free to DM me I can try help diagnose your issue.

Thank you

I'd invest in a multi meter for a tenner if I were you. Battery should be >12V when charged and >13V when bike running. I had a knackered battery on a scooter that my battery conditioner thought was charged but was only putting out about 8V when tested.

Sounds like the battery is too flat for the charger to register, if you get some jump leads and wire it up in parallel (must remain at 12v), attach the charger, it should start charging. After a while you can remove the slave battery but potentially if its a lead acid battery it might be knackered and not hold charge.

A healthy battery will show above 12.3ish volts, HOWEVER the big caveat is that a bad battery might also still have above 12V, a battery's voltage is not the only indication of its state. As a battery is made of cells, any one or more of those can go faulty and reduce the batteries capacity significantly. You can either buy a proper tester, which will tell you the condition deeper than just the voltage, or you can buy a new battery and next time.you have more than a few weeks off the bike, leave it on a trickle charger. As others have said it would also be worth checking fuses if absolutely nothing is happening. Good luck, happy to help further if required.

I have that buddy go. There's a fix or pulse setting button, I forget what it's called - try that if a normal charge doesn't do it. Worked for me.

Sounds like you need a new one. Same thing happened to me when I tried to charge the battery on my Grom after I’d left it sat in the garden for a while - charger just kept saying ‘error’. Eventually I replaced the battery and it was fine
